The staff could not have been more helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. It is lovely to have some garden space in the middle of a big city, and the building has historic charm without being too formal or expensive. An ideal location to see the great sights of Rome.

The hotel is in my opinion a highlight in the cultural -hotellerie heritage of Rome. I had a super big room with breakfast for 140 € in July. I was very happy.. A lot of Tourist going in Rome's hotels with a beach dress.. The hotel should start a campaign to help the guests to recnognize that Rome is not Rimini ;-)

This hotel is in a great location within walking distance to all the beauty Rome has to offer. The general decoration of the hotel is a little bit dated but that adds to the charm. The rooms are very spacious and romantic for Rome. I will return!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Quirinale. The room was large and in the back of the hotel and very quiet. We loved the antique furnishings and old world look. We had especially choosen this hotel as we did not want a modern style. The bathroom was very large and the fixtures were also old fashioned. The tub was the type you would see with claw foot and you had to climb up and into it and the shower was attached to the wall. It was fine for us, but anyone who might be elderly and has a hard time climbing in and out of things might have a problem and it could be hazardous. The breakfast was very good. It had a good variety of pastries, breads, cereals and even eggs and bacon. The coffee was excellent and there were a few varieties to pick from. There was a lovely garden off the breakfast room and we did have a few breakfasts out there. It was September and they had heating lights there so we could enjoy the outside. The front desk employees were very business like and not overly friendly so if you are looking for a hotel that will tell you all about the city you might try a smaller type hotel that would be more personal. The location was good very close to the train station and shopping. We walked with our luggage when we were leaving Rome to travel to Florence. Maybe a 10 minute walk. Overall we were very satisfied and would stay there again.

The hotel was well positioned within 100yds of the republica metro station, so a 5 minute journey and short walk to the majority of major sites including the Vatican, Colosseum etc. The hotel was very clean and the staff were always willing to help. The surrounding area was very pleasant with restaurants and bars close by.We would not hesitate in staying at the 'Quirinale' on our return visits to Rome.

After tiny rooms in Milan & Venice, it was a pleasure having some room to move around. The room itself was spacious as was the bathroom. It was extremely hot and the a/c worked wonderfully well. Our room faced the main street but was unbelievably quiet. The surroundings were fine, an easy walk to most locations of interest. Close to the train station and cab stand. The welcoming was only fair as our room was not ready at 4pm & we waited awhile. Also, when I asked about transportation to the airport, I was told I could take the train or a cab (for 70-80 euro). I later found out the hotel offered a cab at 55 euro - not sure why I wasn't told that. However, the staff was friendly and willing to answer questions about the area and directions as well as restaurants nearby. The breakfast was great with everything you could think of. A little pricy, but it was the high season and other hotels were comparable. Overall, a great stay & I would certainly stay there again.

We ignored the one piece of really negative feedback which we read before booking. But that guy was spot on. This was the most expensive hotel we have ever booked, but the service was the worst and we had the rudest encounter we have ever experienced anywhere in the world. We prebooked and paid for double room. We were given a small twin bed room. The bell hop said the maid would make up the beds as a double the next day. But this would mean a six inch gap (really) between the beds. When my other half said that wasn't good enough he shouted at her, stormed out of the room and slammed the door so hard it flew right open again. Have you ever...!!! Of course we got a very nice double room next day with antique furniture, lots of space but this opening episode left a very bad taste. The reception staff were usually polite-ish but very diffident and unhelpful with one notable exception who was just great. They failed to show any interest in helping us to arrange things or provide local knowledge. One response was "what do you want me to do about it?". And they did not do things which they had undertaken to do so each day was groundhog. On the up side, the hotel is pretty central, right next to a useful metro. It is spacious, pretty, clean and has plenty of character. Breakfast is fine. But many rooms front over a busy street and we were woken repeatedly on Saturday night by drunken singing from below, along with early morning traffic noise every day. We would actually stay there again but would look around first for similar hotels at a good price. We prepaid so got a good discount on the room rate. If you won't need any help in Rome and don't mind a bit of rudeness and noise this is still overall a pretty nice place to stay - it was good enough for Maria Callas, but that was 50 years ago. And you may need a sense of humour. Our "welcoming" bell hop insisted on taking our cases out the door when we left and then stood waiting for a tip!! As it says in the advert, it

I dont think that this hotel is 4 star - I think in future I will stay in one of the well known chains like the Marriott. We booked a superior room - which was OK if a bit faded but the vibrations during the night was stuff of nightmares - could not sleep. We were changed next day and it was OK. The bar prices were really really excessive. Did not eat in the hotel. Overall the description was misleading. We did enjoy stay in Rome.

This may be one of the best values in Rome. While the Quirinale is clearly past its hey-day, it is a lovely hotel. A bit worn around the edges, one can see how this was once a spectacular hotel. It has had a number of obvious upgrades to keep it up. One of our rooms had two sinks, marble floors and a spacious bathtub with stand-up shower. The staff was wonderful and they recommended to us a terrific restaurant only 4 blocks away. I would definately stay there again, particularly if travelling via train. The porter walked our bags from the train to the lobby of the hotel. It was a terrific experience.

The Hotel was a pleasant surprise, the staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast was very good, in terms of variety and quality. The rooms were big and well appointed, if a little dated. Location was perfect, a short walk from Termni rail station, and within walking distance of Trevi, Pantheon etc...also good shopping nearby

We enjoyed our 3 night stay at Hotel Quirinale. Our room was large, nicely furnished, clean and very comfortable. It had a large bathroom and a very comfortable bed. We had a great breakfast each morning offered on the terrace or breakfast room. The hotel is conveniently located to bus, subway lines and within walking distance to the rairoad station. The check-in policy is faily strict - after 1:30pm, but they were more than willing to keep our bags while we exlored Rome. The staff usually tried to answer our questions and offer some helpful hints. We would definitely return to this hotel again.

I was appalled with the service mind of staff at the breakfast restaurant. I made a mistake of spilling some hot coffee and dropped my coffee cup on the floor. I desparately needed some help so I looked around. The few staffs that were around miraculously disappeared from the scene. A lady who was sitting at a nearest table offered me her napkin. Maybe I am too spoiled with services you get at any Asian hotels, but that was definitely not the kind of service that I would expect for the money I paid for a 4-star hotel. I will not go back ever and I won't recommend the hotel to anyone.

We arrived early morning, after an all night flight, exhausted, disoriented & apprehensive. The personnel at the front desk were stern and businesslike, but gracious. They wouldn't let us check in early (unless we agreed to sign up for a city tour), but did compliment us for one of their delicious breakfasts in a grassy courtyard. Every venere.com detail I read before going there was accurate, except that they must be getting kick backs on tours and such. We felt misinformed and betrayed in favor of local merchants on those. The ambiance was distinctive and delightful. Definitely a ****. dan@danoconnor.com Danville, California, USA

This hotel was an exceptional treat after a long day of traveling on the train to Rome. The hotel is within a stone's throw from the Termini (train station) and is in a comfortable neighborhood. It was spacious, clean and the bed was adequately comfortable. The breakfast was delightful and the staff were generally hospitable. The only thing I feel could use improvement was the service of the desk staff. They could have extended themselves beyond their cursery duties. I highly recommned this hotel to others.

The personel at the desk were, with one exception, paying more attention to papers and computers than to the customers at the desk. Additionally, I had to wait over an hour for check-in and no one came to find me when the room was ready, even though I was sitting in the lobby all along. This is not 4 star service.

Very quiet, pleasant place to stay. Room was very spacious; beautiful courtyard view with birds, flowers, etc. Location was great. Only negatives were the poor quality breakfast - not great. Also, we arrived to hotel after the long night flight expecting to be able to rest in our room only to learn that we could not check in until 1:30.

The hotel was nicely appointed and clean. The bell hops were great. The Bartenders were great. The front desk staff was cold and unfriendly an not at all accommodating. We arrived at 11:00 am and were told our room would not be ready until 2pm. We had just arrived from a 12 hour plane ride and were very tired. The front desk staff did not offer us coffe, tea, food, nor show us to a place in the hotel were we could rest and wait for our room. I'm sure this very large hotel had at least one room available at 11am in which we could have temporarily rested. We ended up finding the hotel lounge on our own and reclined on the chairs and slept. No one came over to us, no one offered us anything, and in fact at 130pm we went to the desk to ask if our room was ready and they said" Oh! your room, sure its been ready, we couldn't find you". What!!!! We were less than two feet away from their line of sight. This was very rude and inhospitable.

This hotel had class and comfort combined. The staff was very friendly and eager to assist with any questions we may have. They recommended excellent restaurants and were able to book us on a tour for the same day within 15 minutes of our check-in. The room and bathroom were both spacious and VERY clean. However, if you reserved a double-room, you will get two twin beds pushed together, not unusual in Europe. Overall i would HIGHLY recommend. I will stay there again when we return.

The hotel is in a perfect positon and our overall stay was wonderful. The only complaint we had concerned the staff at breakfast time. It seemed because of the self-service nature, they were not welcoming to any comment or request. However, we also found a lot of the other guests at the Quirinale quite rude so perhaps the staff were hardened! I must make clear it was just this section of employees - the reeption staff were very welcoming!

We had three adults in a junior suit (our room got upgraded). The rooms are beautifully furnished and very spacious with a separate dressing room and a safe. Even though we were on the 5th floor you could still feel the room vibrating when the trams went past which was a little annoying but didn’t interrupt my sleep. Excellent location - very near main train station and bus terminal. It is a very big hotel with a huge lounge for guests to sit in when not in their room. There is also an outdoor courtyard which you can have drinks or meals in. The in house restaurant is pricy but well worth it for a very special meal you will not forget. If you bring a laptop you can access their free Internet hot spot. The buffet breakfast is outstanding and included in the price of the room. They have a huge variety of food. I would highly recommend the Hotel Quirinale.

I found this hotel to be of an excellent quality, and the location of it meant the vitually anything we wanted to see was within walking distance ie 10-15 mins, Colloseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, Quirinale etc. The staff were most helpful and the hotel always sparkling even tough it is so large. the breakfast served is excellent, and lovely to be able to eat in the open air on the terrace! Most bus trips ie to the Vatican etc will pick you up at the hotel, and my initial fears of getting to the hotel from the airport were unfounded as the bus from the airport takes you to a location about 2 mins from the front door of the Quirinale. I would reccommend a stay here to anyone, and will certainly stay there again on my next trip to Rome. We didn't want to come home!!!

Well you certainly got the quality you where expecting here. Unfortunately that comes with not so approachable staff and you do have to dress up just to get served in the bar. The room itself was fabulous, although it did rattle with what we think was either the pipe system or local trains, slight enough not to really notice. The breakfast was fabulous. A superb hotel for a short break. Very well located, for drop off by bus from airport, proximity to underground and being situated in a pleasant part of Rome. Could reach any main attraction within 15 mins. Room was big, with great bathroom and nice view. Hotel was quiet and room had easy to use air con and big shutters to keep out light at night. Reception area and bar had Rome-like ambience, with garden terrace a super place to have the impressive breakfast - lots to eat and good variety of continental/cooked food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room prices represent good value for a hotel of such a high standard. Have recommended the hotel to all of my friends.

A good 4-star hotel. The star rating is based on amenities, not service, but the Quirinale staff really tries to make your stay comfortable. One major note - like most Italian hotels a double bed, a "matrimoniale", is really just two singles pushed together and covered with a single sheet and blanket. You'll still end up on different sides of the bed by morning.

A warm welcome, and palatial entrance lobby made our arrival a happy one. Breakfast was great. On the downside, scaffold erection at some ungodly hour outside the bedroom window took the edge off the night's sleep, and the cost of a G&T took the mick a bit. Overall, though, recommended.

Great City, nice Hotel, one of those grand older houses that has seen better days everything a bit tacky but functions well. We enjoyed our stay the only flaw is the staff at reception, arrival is not a reception, was more an acknowledgment of our arrival and the staff at breakfast understand the timetable in the sense that they need to close at ten and not that you might eat until ten or maybe even five after. Our tip for the staff in general: a smile at time and an attitude of service provider would do wonders to the overall positive image we had.

My wife and I stayed in the Quirinale during the first week of August 2004. We thought the hotel was in a good location once we started using the public bus system. The room was spacious but the noise from an adjacent building that was being renovated was annoying at times. Eventually we asked to be moved to another room and this was done without much fuss. Breakfast was served on a nice terrace but the breakfast food didn't vary a great deal but was nice enough. Overall we'd recommend the Quirinale.

The situation of the hotel is excellent for both public transport and seeing the sites. The standard of the public areas and rooms was much better than I had anticipated. Our main gripe was the noise level in the room - not from outside (the double glazing was very effective) but from the room next door and from the corridor - the walls are very thin. Another point was the restaurant recommended by reception was not very good - a tourist trap with average quality food. We stayed here on business and overall I would use this hotel again on business as the public areas were ideal for entertaining customers. I would not stay here for personal use as there are better value options in the vicinty (eg. Sunset Roma).

Mostly we were very satified with our stay at the Quirinale. The location convenience is OK, although it is a bit far from the best sites in Rome (e.g. ancient Rome, Old Rome) even though it was listed as near the Colisseum (about a 25 minute walk, actually). The map, however, was accurate. Our room was spacious and quiet, except for some noisy neighbors one night - the walls are thin. We did ask for a Garden view room, so it did not face the street. The shower was difficult to use without getting water on the floor.

A very pleasant stay was had by my family thanks to the truly professional staff, as well as the beautiful unique ambience of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel in Italy.

This is a really great hotel, especially from the point of view of the price/quality ratio. Very spacious rooms and beautiful public areas in grand-hotel style. If you are not too lazy and like walking (you are 15-25 min. walk away from the main sights), this is a really excellent choice.

Large rooms, with nice interior. Newly refurbished clean bathrooms! Good location for exploring Rome by foot. Good breakfast for Italy.

While the hotel had a lovely antique ambience, I was disappointed that the rooms were a tad small and dingy. Some of the furniture in the rooms was broken and old. The only good thing about the hotel is its proximity to the railway station.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Rome and I was quite leary about booking a hotel through the internet. However, we found that the Quirinale exceeded our expectations. The bathroom was terrific. We received fresh towels and new linens on our bed each day. Also, construction was going on right outside our window, yet we hardly ever heard it. The staff was very helpful and extremely reliable. They helped us to locate a toy store and also booked us tours that they recommended. The hotel is within walking distance of nearly every major site! We had no problems during our stay, in fact they even gave us our room 4 hours prior to check-in time. We had a wonderful time and I would certainly recommend this hotel!

We stayed for 6 nights in July 04 and we loved it. The hotel is simply great, in terms of: staff competency and attitude; superb reservation staff who gave excellent advice (on the phone) prior to arrival; spacious & classical room style, very clean and not noisy (as facing a side street); needed air-conditioning worked well and self-controllable; hot & cold breakfast, especially in the beautiful Garden area; relaxing Green Bar "Grand Hall" (with piano played at night);10 mins walk to the main train station, and Metro just around the corner; about 15-20 mins relaxed-walk to most landmarks (used to walking along Via Nazionale with clothes-shops along it and a handful smaller restaurants even though we eneded up mostly eating in restauarnts nearer to landmarks!). For the special price offered, the hotel was simply one of our best-value-for-money with classical luxury we ever stayed in (in Europe), and we travelled a lot!

This hotel is a real gem of a find. If anything, the website and the photos really do not do it justice. The room was beautiful and large. The bathroom was huge!! The included breakfast is very good and is served on a beautiful terrace and dining room which automatically makes the start to each day fantastic. We had been worried about the location as we had read the hotel was at the top of a hill. The grade is gentle and is not a problem at all even if you have difficulty walking as the metro stops right outside the hotel. Five minutes walk away is also Termini Station so if you have to get a train anywhere, it is particularly convenient. The staff were efficient and very curteous and we realized that it is probably the language barrier that seems to eliminate chit chat. We would defintely recommend this hotel.

The hotel was in a very convenient location - the street had lots of shopping, near to restaurants and a stone's throw away from the underground station. The property was under refurbishment and we were 'fortunate' enough to get one of the pre-refurbished rooms. The room and sheets were clean, but not very welcoming. The doors and/or walls were thin, so we could hear our neighbours coming and going through the night. The staff were helpful and polite though, which sometimes makes a hotel stay a lot more enjoyable than if they weren't. The price we paid included breakfast, which was a nice touch as it meant that we could load up on food and drink before another hectic day of wandering around the ruins. The garden setting is lovely. I'd recommend it for the location and convenience, not so much for the room.

The only thing keeping this one from an Excellent is the front desk staff. However, having read several reviews I was prepared for it. Basically, you are treated like a number, an ant in the colony and nothing more. They will see to your needs, but you won't feel good about it. On the other hand, the wait staff in the restaurant were very welcoming, friendly and refined. The room and bathroom were fairly large (I've grown used to the English B&B) and kept extremely clean. While the room faced the busy road, the windows/shutters/curtains seemed to keep the noise down quite well. The location near the Termini station is excellent since you can just walk over and hop on a train to Florence, Napels or any number of places. If you plan to visit Vatican City, take the bus! It took as hour to walk there, but all of the other main sites seemed to be within a 30 minute walk ... very nice.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Quirinale. Location is ideal - we could walk everywhere and walked as far afield as the Vatican relatively easily (for the fit). The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful - even with our Italian phrases. Even the housekeeping staff would always offer up a 'hello' when you passed them in the corridor. We had dinner in the restaurant which was fantastic and quite reasonable. The rooms are spacious and light with good air conditioning. (The shutters on the windows add extra Italian flavour!) The Hotel itself is very attractive inside with an air of history. (The only minor point is that if you look hard enough you'll see it's looking a little tired around the edges - but for us that just added a bit of character!) Only negative about our stay was that we booked a double standard and got twin beds, so beware of that when you make your bookings. Otherwise, I'd recommend The Quirinal to everyone - we'd go back in a heartbeat!

Hotel was beutiful! Was much more then what we had expected. It is in a prime location, near the Republica subway. Very spacious and clean, wait until you see the bathrooms =). You will not be unhaoppy with the place. Also on a side note we got into rome at 0700 and it was very nice to be able to check in at that time. Choose this hotel you will not be sorry.

This hotel is STUNNING. The staff is very helpful. Rooms were HUGE by european standards. So was the bathroom. Great Location, close to everything within walking distance and the metro and bus stations are right across the street. Also very close to the Termini train station. (which there is a direct train to the airport) Overall the best place I've found in europe for a great price.

Enjoyed stay ,would stay again. Pianist playing in the evening was a little too loud. Also, due to the wooden/laminate flooring, people could be heard moving around, particularly at night when the hotel was generally quiet.

Great breakfast. Service personnel were excellent people. Only negative for us was that our room smelled of strong perfume and outside our window there was renovations. Aside from all that, good hotel.

The structure is not very organized to have many guests: for example, on Sunday morning breakfast is a problem because there are many people, but on Monday everything is OK.

How to reach Hotel Quirinale

By car
From any point of the Grande Raccordo Anulare, reachable by all highways, follow the indications to Roma centro and then to the Roma Termini railway station. Access by car is limited to authorised vehicles in the centre of Rome where the hotel is located during the day, so guests can park their car close to the Termini station and reach the hotel by taxi or by one of the several bus lines available. Both bus 64 going from Termini to St. Peters, and bus H going from piazza Indipendenza (close to Termini) to Casaletto, stop at Via Nazionale. Many areas of the city centre are also reachable by underground line A, which stops at Repubblica, which is very close to the hotel.

By train
The Roma Termini railway station is about 400 meters from the hotel. You can reach the hotel by underground line A getting off at Repubblica stop, which is only 50 metres away.

By airplane
The Roma Fiumicino international airport is about 35 km from the hotel. The airport is connected to the city by highway and a local train service called Leonardo Express which takes you to the Termini station in 30 minutes.
