The hotel rooms were basic but just what you needed, clean & tidy, fresh towels every day. The hotel staff were fantastic, so helpful, giving us idea's on places to eat that were good but not over priced, the best way to get around rome, they even gave us a bottle of champagne when they found out we were there for our anniversary. Would highly recommend and definitly stay there again.

A happy return to a favorite hotel. The welcome was warm and friendly We received helpful advice when requested. The service was very good and the total presentation was excellent. Although the location is not exactly attractive this is more than made up by the proximity to transport - and the wonderful gelato shop!

Everything about this hotel was great, except the location. The rooms were sparkling clean. The owners are extremely accomodating. The breakfast had a very nice variety by Italian standards. Its only drawback was the location and there's not too much going on in the area. We prefer to walk everywhere, and this required a bit more navigating given Eugenio's distance from sites. We stayed at Gea Vulcano last year, paid about 35 euros more per night, and eventhough Eugenio's rooms were cleaner, and the owners more helpful, I would probably choose the more central location. That being said, the price was great for the breakfast and quality of stay.

We arrived very late at night but received a very warm welcome with a good introduction to the hotel and the area and a free drink! Wifi was free and worked well. The location was excellent-easy walk to metro, termini station and also within walking distance to coloseum/roman forum. Fantastic gelato shop across the road which was open late. Breakfast was reasonable. Spacious, simply furnished room with a good bathroom.

My husband had an accident, that led to his hospitalization for 5 days. The proprietors were most kind to us,fielding our many telephone calls from worried family members and in general, helped ease our burden. We hope to return some day. Bob and Ruth Galante

The location is pretty good, walking distance to the Colloseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. Bus and tram right in front of the hotel. The street is very noisy, but the double-glazed windows block all the sounds completely. The entrance and lobby are not very impressive, but the actual room is lovely and very clean. Great breakfast, though tend to run out of variety after 9am. The hosts are very helpful, will answer any questions you may have.

I was a bit apprehensive as to finding the hotel once I get to the Termini; however, once I got a map of Rome it was quite easy to find the hotel on foot. About a 5-10 min. to the hotel from the Termini. Check in was quick and the language barrier was not an issue. The owners speak English good enough to get by. The room size suited me for my needs. It was already cleaned very well each time I returned in the afternoon or evening. Breakfast was simple, with same choice each morning, but enough to get you going before you head out. You have to buzz them to get inside which they responded always in less than 15 seconds. Occasionally you'll hear some noise outside the hallway, but nothing disturbing. Street noise is well muted out by an upgrade window system to keep near all noise outside. Bathroom size is not comparable to U.S. standard but clean and shower is strong and lots of hot water. Wifi is available once they give you a code to access it, and it's pretty fast. Overall, I think I did well in terms of price/value and convenience. There's a bus stop right in front of it, a metro (subway) station a block or so away, and some decent restaurants around the corner on the left side of the hotel. Oh yeah, they have a supermarket in front of the hotel and adjacent to it is also a popular gelato place. There's a pharmacy a few yards away on it's right and a coffee shop a few feet away on the left. If you're going to Rome to see Rome and not to spend a whole lot of time in your dwelling place, then I highly recommend this place for it's price and convenience, and most notably, the service and eagerness of the owners to help you.

A very good budget hotel. Staff is friendly, helpful and english-speaking. Triple room was big, with balcony, and with working TV, fridge and safety box. Shining clean after every day's cleaning, and noice closed off by tight door. Surroundings might disturb someone used to more fashionable neighbourhoods, but was OK for us. Italy's oldest ice-cream factory and a big supermarket right across the street. Trams to Termini leaves 5 meters from front door every 10 minutes.

Do not be put off by the front door!!! Yes you have to ring a bell for the owners/staff to let you in, and you have to walk up a half flight of stairs to the (standard/small) elevator. But once on the hotel floor, the 2nd for North Americans, the reception is totally friendly, the rooms are roooomy, and very nicely kept. Very helpful and obliging owners. Willing to put up with my rusty Italian. From Termini station, we would recomments Tram #5, in front of Termini instead of walking. With luggage, use the rear doors, there is standing room. Request stop one stop after Vittorio Emanuele Park. You will see a supermarket, sort of, on your right. Hotel directly across street from tram stop.

We had an wonderful stay at Principe Eugenio, the rooms and facilities were very comfortable and convenient. Breakfast was great. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful with directions, tourist hints and restaurant options. The location is very convenient for transit, and is a base just a little away from the busiest tourist areas to come home to after a full day. There is a wonderful gelateria across the street. Do pay attention to the instructions for finding the hotel and ringing the doorbell on arrival, as until you know where the entrance is, you can be a bit confused.

I was very impressed with Hotel Principe Eugenio. The room was spacious and spotless. The bed very comfortable. We were located at the back of the building, with our balcony overlooking a shared green area which was very peaceful. We had to leave very early on our last morning and the owners very kindly provided us with a full breakfast over an hour before the set time. For the price paid (considering how expensive Rome is) I feel we got value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The quality to price is Exellent. The rooms were big and nice, not luxury but everthing else. CLEAN! The owners/personell were very nice and genuine. Best way to get to the tourist attractions is to walk to the nearest metro, about 5-8 min walk. The surrounding neighborhood has no great attractions but a some great food in their restaurants.

We were very satisfied with the room and services. The hotel is run by a family, it is located on one floor of a big department house with the lift. The staff kept our room clean on everyday basis and the owners were very willing and helpful (and they spoke English). There is always someone to open to you around the clock, which safed us from having troubles on the arrival, because our plane was delayed and we came very late. The room was very quiet when the door to the balcony was closed, however, when opend, you couldn't not notice the noise from the street. But there is air conditioning in every room, so you can keep the door closed even during the hottest days, if you prefer so. I liked the breakfast as well. It definitely was not typical Italian one, since there were all possible types of liquids (not only coffee :) and ham, cheese, nutella and different jams to choose from with buns. It was same every day but I didn't mind in the slightest. It was fresh and sufficient. Btw, Termini is just 10 minute walk from the hotel... If I go to Rome again (which I intent, the city is awesome!!!), I will definitelly choose Eugenio again.

I was traveled western Europe during several days with my parents(about 50) & brother(20). When I found the building of hotel, I was little bit dejected, because it didn't look nice externally. But, inside of the hotel, during 3 nights, my preconception was destroyed. - Very nice master and employees - Enough big and clean room - Easy approach to Metro, Trem, and bus Especially, my mother was amply satisfied with this hotel. In my opinion, for family and some travelers who want compotable & quite sleeping, thie hotel will be very good choice in Rome. But this hotel can be bored hotel to some hot-blooded young traveler. :-)

The hotel is located about 400 metres from the railway station, in a very quiet zone (even at night) with a prevalence of Asian people. At about 200 metres away there is the subway. Opposite the hotel there is a tram stop, a famous ice-cream parlour and a small supermarket. Next to the hotel there is a reastaurant-pizzeria with excellent quality and very reasonable prices. Our room was spacious, with a balcony and air conditioning. The bathroom was large and with a shower. The room was very clean. The staff was very kind and considerate. Breakfast is international and it is served in a little room. The hotel is recommended for families or couples thanx to the great proximity to public services.

The hosts were very helpful, friendly and accommodating, providing maps, directions, advice. We had a lovely room with a big balcony with bistro table, chairs and potted plants overlooking a fairly quiet street - perfect for a pizza dinner we brought in one tired evening. Only 1 English-language channel (European CNN)on the TV, but who goes to Rome for the TV? Bathroom is very small, compared to US - narrow stall shower, no tub, barely room to bend down for the dropped soap. But every hotel we stayed in in Italy had the same size shower stall. Air Conditioning worked great, excellent water-pressure in the shower, very firm mattress on king-size bed. Breakfast here was my favorite - hard boiled eggs, salami, cheese, rolls, pastry, Nutella & jellies, cereal, coffee tea & milk & OJ. Available starting at 7:30 AM, so we could eat and get a jump on hitting the sites. Principe Eugenio is just a few blocks from the Vittorio Emmanuel A-Line Metro station (1 stop south of the main Termini station). Not much to do or see in the neighborhood, but a fair number of restaurants/cafes. More residential than touristy, so pretty quiet, but not a night-life area. The graffiti (actually throughout Rome) was a little off-putting, but the area felt quite safe. Supermarket a block away across to the left, amazingly-busy large gelato shop across to the right. You do have to drag your suitcases up a wide flight of stairs from the street to the elevator, then take the elevator up one flight to the hotel entrance (or you could walk it), but that was the case in every hotel we used in Italy. Maybe the big expensive chain hotels have bigger baths, no stairs and more English TV, and are in the thick of the action, but this was the perfect combination of price, convenience and gracious hospitality for us. Definitely get the RomaPass (for the historic sites/museum admission discounts and the unlimited Metro/bus pass - well worth it. The 105 bus stops right out front of the hotel.

We had a good stay at Principe Eugenio. The hosts are extremely helpful and they went out of their way to help us enjoy our days in Rome giving us restaurant, transport and sight recommendations. The rooms are very clean and quite large and the breakfast is good (though slightly repetitive for those who stay for more than a couple of days). The hotel is well-served by public transport and is only an 8 minutes walk from the Termini station. The area is not comparable to Piazza Navona or Piazza di Spagna but it is safe. All in all, good value for money for Rome (which is quite an expensive city).

A budget priced hotel in a central location, which allowed easy access to the sights. With our agreement we stayed in 3 different rooms which gave us a very good insight into the hotel. All were very clean, tidy & spacious. Our only complaint was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was good, but did not vary for the whole time we were in residence.

I've never been in a hotel inside a condo, but once inside the kindness of the owner and the good condition of the rooms cleared any doubt. He also suggested us a few restaurants around. Try asking him. :) The room where on the inside, on a nice garden, and so there were almost no noise around, thanks also to the double glass on the window. The hotel has also wifi, a nice addition to plan the next day and check informations on the city.

With our 12 year old, my wife and I loved this modestly priced non-tourist-urban setting, with a balcony overlooking the street, with its electric trolley and bus stop right at the hotel door, and small, old, but quick and reliable wire caged elevator. Our room was simple but very clean and spacious, with all the amenities, and other rooms, as well as the breakfast room, overlook the interior courtyard, with a taste of Roman living. The breakfast was plain but plentiful, freshly hard boiled eggs, rolls with butter and jams, corn flakes, a little fruit, a couple of nice shaved meats, juice, coffee, cocoa, kept open for both earlier and later risers. If the electric trolley and bus, both of which connect to Termini, aren't enough for you, a metro stop really is less than 3 blocks away right down the street. You'll have to call, or ask them to call, for a taxi, though, and one will arrive in minutes. Literally the oldest gelato maker in Rome is catty-corner a few steps down the street, doing a constantly bustling business of mainly Romans well into the evening, and the restaurant downstairs has cheap espresso and hot fried bread balls in a fudge like nuttella sauce that is simply delicious. The family running this little suite of rooms are very nice and helpful, and we hope to see them again. If you prefer to pay extra for something more picturesque, or to avoid graffiti and street noise, this may not be the place for you, but the area definitely felt secure, and if you enjoy a taste of the city, and keeping your euros in your pocket for dining and shopping, I highly recommend it.

The staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast was quite adequate and in a nice room. The location was not in the greatest part of town, but the bus/trolley was right out the front door and the metro was only a few blocks away, also its within walking distance from the train station (1/2 mile). The front gate was very secure and there was the world's most wonderful gelataria across the street. The walls were a little thin but overall the guests were very quiet. We had a nice patio and I think my only complaints were that the towels were never replaced in the four days we spent there and the bed was extremely hard with terrible pillows. This is not a typical hotel with a lobby but the room worked well for us.

Very friendly familial atmosphere–more like a bed and breakfast than a standard hotel. The staff/owners are helpful for pointing out local sites, restaurants, or pretty much anything else you might need. My room was clean and recently refurbished room with a television and mini fridge, and a relatively spacious private bathroom. Wireless internet was speedy. The included breakfast is buffet style, and quite adequate. I had a room on the street side; traffic noise and noise from a tram line were sometimes quite loud, but other than that, the place was perfect. Excellent quality for the price.

comments in english et aussi en français, The entrance of this hôtel will probably deceive but forget that, beyond this entrance the hotel is clean, rooms large and clean with TV, fridge, safe and also a very clean bathroom in every rooms. One negative point : The breakfast is "so-so" it means that the coffee (nescafé) is absolutly bad except if you like that kind of instant coffee. Just in the other side of the street : the most oldest (since 1880) gelateria (ice cream company) in Rome.

Hotel Principe Eugenio held no surprises for us as the reviews I had read prior to booking were very accurate. We didn't feel threatened in any way by the surrounding area and thought the graffiti was only slightly worse than most other parts of Rome. On checking in the owner couldn't have been more helpful by producing a map and showing us bus routes, restaurants etc. The bedrooms and bathrooms were as spotlessly clean as the hotel reviews said they would be. We bought food and drink for lunch in the supermarket opposite (about 18 euros for six of us). Would definitely stay in this hotel again.

We really enjoyed our stay here for three nights, mid March 2009. The staff were very friendly and provided a map and information about our local area and information about the famous places in Rome. The hotel shares an entrance with a block of apartments and you have to press the buzzer for number 4 to get into the hotel which is on the first floor, we never used the lift (they dont provide a key so you always have to ring that buzzer). The apartments in the block and surrounding apartment blocks form a square around a quiet garden in the centre and our room overlooked that with double doors onto a balcony. Breakfast is a continental buffet, with slices of meat, cheese, some boiled eggs, breakfast rolls (butter jam and nutella), corn flakes, coffee, hot water with different teas and some little cakes. We always left the hotel for our day in Rome with full stomachs :) (there was also a jug of hot/warm milk ... I have no idea what that was for) They were wrong on one thing though, I did not need my passport to get into the Vatican Museum/St Peters/Sistine Chapel. We walked to and from the hotel to Termini no problem, we also walked to the Colosseum and roman forum (all less than 15 minutes). There are some places that are a bit far to walk though, like the Pantheon, Trevi fountain etc. We got tickets for one of the hop on hop off tours that lasted for 48 hours and that was perfect, sightseeing while getting to the sights of rome (we used the one that has 3 seperate bus routes around Rome - tickets lasted 2 days and our 7 year old daughter was free)

I needed a hotel room quickly and found this place through venere.com. I knew the area, and it's not the historic center, but it's not far either, and there are two metro stations nearby. The price was reasonable. I really just wanted a clean, inexpensive room to sleep in after walking around all day. This was perfect. Simple accomodations but spotlessly clean. I had a room on the street side, with buses and trams going by all the time, but with the windows closed I had no trouble relaxing nor sleeping. The hotel sits within an apartment block. You have to ring to get in, and the hotel is one flight up. But it's 24/7 access so it was no problem. Great ice cream shop across the street. You'll see a lot or Romans hanging out there until closing. To be honest,I can't wait to go back here.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Principe Eugenio Hotel for three nights in jan/2009 and we were very pleased with our stay. In the morning when we arrived at the hotel the owners of the hotel, an old couple, presented the room (which was surprising but very nice) and told us about all the metro- and bus stops that wauld take us to the sights and all raund the town. The friendlyness of the staff was overwhelming. The only drawback was the surroundings of the hotel; my girlfriend said she would feel unsafe if walking alone at night on the two-block route from the nearest metro station. I never felt unsafe walking anywhere around the hotel. To single travellers or travellers with small children I suggest you to take a look on the surroundings of the hotel on google maps street view etc. And the breakfast wasn't anything special. This hotel is total value for money, I recommend this hotel to all travellers with a budget. 10- from me. Thank you for making our holiday perfect Principe Eugenio.

We found the hotel quite easily but I did look at a picture of the outside of the building to help. The staff were very helpful and friendly and very kindly put a bottle of sparkling wine in our room as we were celebrating my husband's 40th birthday. The room was a great size and we had balconies overlooking the gardens. Also we were going to go to a restaurant that was recommended in my guide book but it was closed and the owners recommended a local restaurant that wasn't for tourists but the locals and the food and service was fantastic. In english it was called the white hourse. The area was ok but we never felt threatened in any way and would definitely go back to the hotel. Highly recommended.

Little has changed since our last stay at Principe Eugenio two years ago, and that’s just fine by us. It’s still a superbly run, spotlessly clean, convenient hotel. Breakfast is still a continental-plus arrangement with rather unusual coffee. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, not fancy but very functional. But above all Principe Eugenio offers that special extra, the personal touch. The Catalanos gave us a very warm welcome, even managing to rustle up some food and wine to hit the spot after we arrived late at night from 24 hours of traveling. Lorenzo’s English has improved considerably and he takes the time to give you a quick run-through of Rome’s hot spots and quirks. But I was touched that he and Signora Catalano both tolerated my mangled Italian, answering me in their own language. There’s now a personal safe in every room, a welcome addition. Room heating is a bit strange. We never did get the hang of it. Principe Eugenio is walkable from Roma Termini and five minutes from Manzoni subway station. The Colosseum is 15 pleasant minutes walk away. If anything, the area has improved since we were last there although there was never anything wrong with it in the first place. We’ve walked the streets at all hours without a hint of trouble. There’s an excellent supermarket opposite and a few doors away a good pizzeria. A couple of doors the other way there’s a first-class coffee shop for those who find Principe Eugenio’s morning brew too unique. Our only disappointment was a return to Cribbio on Via dei Campani for dinner. Postage-stamp sized portions on football-field sized plates at ridiculous prices. Pass. When the quality of breakfast coffee is the only thing you can find to criticize in a hotel, you’ve found a winner. We’ll definitely be returning to Rome and as long as the Catalanos are in charge we’ll be staying at Principe Eugenio.

We stayed in Hotel Principe Eugenio in the end of October for 4 days. The hotel is located on the first floor of an house and is quite close to Termini. Room equipment was new and sufficient (just could have been better but it was ok). Breakfast was plain but good - they have a really great coffee. The best thing about this hotel was its staff - they were really helpful and friendly, they also lent us bottle opener when we bought a bottle of wine. So, we would recommend it for stay in Rome.

While this is near the main station and does not appear to be the best of neighborhoods, we did not feel worried walking at night. There are many people out walking. The absolutely best gelato we had in Italy was right across the street. Also, several excellent local restaurants just a block away. While not fancy, he hotel rooms are quite large by Rome standards, the bathroom excellent and everything kept exceedingly clean. Our room was on the backside of the hotel facing the garden and was very quiet, no traffic noise at all. And we had a balcony. Lorenzo & his wife are very helpful & welcoming. Though he speaks just a little English, he really was able to give us directions and help us out, and ordered transportation for us, always mindful of the price, less we get ripped off! The Metro system is close, too. A grocery store is right across the street. We would not hesitate to stay there again. Breakfast was good and quite large by Europen standards.

Warm and welcoming owners. Lovely clean room. Good continental breakfast including meat, cheese, eggs, cereal, fruit. Excellent double glazing, but still some street noise for light sleepers in rooms facing the street. Not easy to find - could do with a more prominent sign outside. Area looks a bit rundown at night, mostly due to graffiti on shop window shutters, but fine when shops open. Would definitely recommend and will return.

Not a nice part of town! We spent the beggining of our vacation in Venice, Florence, and Greve in Chianti and stayed in some great places with amazing scenery. So needless to say I was very disappointed upon arriving at our hotel. The streets smelled like urine and there were many homeless on the streets. The building was old and shared space with other residents. My opinion is that you should stay in the centro storico or near the Vatican. On a nice note, the owners are fabulous! They were very nice and hospitable. I did feel safe once in my room and it was very clean. Breakfast was sufficient as well. The hotel was close to the Metro which made it easy to get around during the daytime. We arrived at the Vatican in minutes for the price of 2 Euro. On foot however, it is quite far from the sights. We were able to walk it, but with VERY tired feet, and youth on our side. I didn't feel safe walking around the hotel at night. This hotel would be adequate if you don't mind the surroundings.

We stayed for 5 nights in October and after having some difficulty finding the hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised. It is spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and we had a balcony which was nice but noisy. The triple glazed doors when closed cut out all the sound from the street below. Breakfasts were the same every day but plenty of it and of a good standard. This not a conventional hotel. It has no minibar (there is a wine list though) or pay to view TV channels and we liked it all the better for that. Its in a reasonably nice area not far from the station and within 20min walk of the Colosseum. There are tram and bus stops outside and a super market across the street to get stuff for picnics and wine to sup on the balcony. The only blot is that the hotel is very hard to find. As with many hotels in Rome (discovered this later) its situated on the first floor of an apartment block. You have to press the bell to get in but there is only one flight of stairs and there is a lift. We would definitely stay here again. The owners were friendly and helpful and we thought our stay was very good value.

We are budget conscious travelers from the U.S. visiting Rome for the first time. This hotel was an incredible bargain at 135 Euros per night. It is not a luxury hotel, but it was very clean, the room was large by European standards and had a balcony. The bathroom included a bidet, but the shower was very small. The proprietors were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, but they do not speak English well. They gave us a bottle of Chianti on our arrival and we drank it out on the balcony. The hotel is walking distance from the Termini and from the subway (underground) which goes to the Vatican, the Coliseum, etc. The worst problem we had was FINDING this hotel. It starts on the third floor and the entrance is a small door, next to which is a little placque with the name of the hotel and a doorbell. When you ring the bell, the proprietors buzz you in. The neighborhood is rather sketchy, with a lot of graffiti, etc., but there are also a number of sidewalk cafes in walking distance. The breakfasts were quite good, with a selection of juices, fruit, breads and rolls, cereals, and hard boiled eggs. We enjoyed meeting other guests from Germany, England, and France when we went to breakfast. It's not the Hilton, but at a mere fraction of the cost, we'll choose these clean, comfortable accommodations the next time we're in Rome.

The hotel is very nice and clean. The room was very big! The location is near the Termini, so it's not in the center but this disadvantage is also its benefit. At night it's not recommended to walk outside (at least for my opinion). In front of the hotel there is the best ice cream we tasted in Rome (cheap and excellent and open till midnight). The hotel is not a typical hotel, it's a floor in a building, and there are no lobby or ather facilities as in "regular" hotel) The owner is very nice, speaks good English and is very pleasant to help and to recommends places to visit in Rome. Due to the location (far from the center) we bought the "Roma Pass" (20 Euro for two museums and free transportation from all kinds) and it was worth it. The price is a little bit high for my opinion.

The hotel is well maintained.Staff is sincere and courteous. However the size of hotel is small and place is not vibrant! However our thanks to the hotel for giving us a comfortable stay.

For the price I paid one could get a decent hotel in New York. Maybe at half the 140 euros that I paid. The owners are very nice people and are most helpful. Our cab to the Termi was large and the driver took us to the right entrance. The super market accoss the street was great. Breakfast was fine. I brought my own coffee. The management gave me a bottle of wine and water. I took the picture of the door from their web site and it was helpful in finding the address.

We were on a budget and chose the Principe because it was affordable for Rome. You get what you pay for. The breakfast was easily the worst of the 4 hotels we were at in Italy. The entry was unique, with a fair amount of stairs, not lift and buzzing from outside to be let in. There was however a fantastic gelato store and a grocer across the street which were nice. Would I stay there again? Probably not.

More variety could be provided at breakfast fro those staying 3 or more days. Change the menu from day to day. Eg Provide toast and different cereal inclusin musesli as options as well as some fresh fruit. The rooms on the street side are refurbished but are smaller and noisy if you want to have the window opened. The rooms on the inner garden side are older but are quiet Much better signage is needed for people trying to find the hotel for the first time in this street. a clear sign with the hotel name is needed. It is quite difficult to find. The hotel location is very good for access to trams, buses , supermarkets and you can walk to the sites like the colosseum in 20 minutes.

The staff at the hotel were so helpful to us. They answered questions for us via email before we arrived. We had to get a taxi to the airport at 5:45 a.m. and one of them was up waiting for us to make sure a taxi arrived, which they had arranged the night before. We easily walked from the Termini station to the hotel, carrying our luggage (but we pack light). Our room was fine for our purposes, clean & airconditioned. The bed was like a rock, but that is typical in Europe. And it is true that the best Gelato is across the street.

We were very happy with this hotel and would return without hesitation! The owners were very helpful and gave us very good information on where to eat and how to get around Rome. We felt very safe in the area and in fact enjoyed the many cultural differences. We walked around the area without any problems both day and night. Like any big city anywhere in the world, in Rome no matter where you are you must stay aware and be careful. The breakfast was perfect for us with cold meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, rolls and sweet buns etc. and as much really good coffee as you wished for. We were also treated to a nice cold beer on our arrival after a long travel day. The place was spotlessly clean and we would definitely recommend this small friendly hotel.

Was such a lovely stay. They were extremly helpfull and welcoming. I stayed the first time for 4 days and the second when I went back to Rome for one night with my parents. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable and very quiet. The aircon was a life saver as we were there in summer. The sheets were crisp and fresh..unlike others I have stayed in. The bathroom and toilet so clean and the shower had lots of water power. Breakfast was just perfect. Coffee, tea, juice, bread with jams and nutella (of course). Sliced cheese and salami. Biscuits and small Italian cakes. Had such a lovely stay there. Quite close to the metro and walking distance to the sites of Rome. Huge gelataria across the road and supermarket on the corner...very convinient. My parents have travelled a lot and even they were impressed. I hope to stay there again when back in Rome. Grazie mille:)

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is right beside a tram and bus stop, there is a grocery store and a gelato store right across the street. All attractions are a little way from the hotel but the walks to Termini and the Colosseum are both 15 minutes or less. The room was big enough to unload our packs and still have room to move around. The air conditioning was quiet and we rarely heard noise from the street. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean. CNN in English was available on the TV. There was someone on duty 24 hours a day so the building was very secure. Breakfast was a basket of two croissants, two buns, and two packages of "toast" there was also boiled eggs, cheese, sliced meat, red fruit punch, coffee, tea, corn flakes, jam, pate, and nutella from the common table. We always had enough to eat for breakfast.

The Principe Eugenio occupies the 1st floor of a building on a large avenue, conveniently situated relative to the station, the center, and the San Lorenzo district (nice restaurants there, ask the hotel staff!). Our room was clean, comfortable, but noisy; fortunately we could change for a quieter room on the court side. The service was OK.

Great hotel! I wasn't expecting so much due to the price and my previous experiences with hotels in Rome. But it was a very pleasant surprise. It's very clean, the staff is extremely helpful and nice. It completely worth what it costs and more. The neighbourhood may seem a bit frightening at first look, but it's very quiet and safe, even at night. I definitively recommend it!

The hotel is on the basic side but is clean and well run. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There have been comments about the area, being run down and unsafe. I can't agree with these. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Nice family run place. The outside of the hotel is a little bit hard to find but we found the place fine with one of the pictures of the front doors we found online. Some of the reviews say that it is not in a nice neighborhood. Although it is not right in the heart of Rome, we did not feel in danger even walking back late at night. Also, the best gelateria, maybe in the world, is right across the street. Get a courtyard room if possible because the street is a little loud. Buses stop right in front of the hotel and the metro is only about a 4 minute walk. We had a perfect stay.

This was the first time on this hotel, and we chose it because of good reputation. Hotel was in very good location: next to bus and trolley stops and only 200meters from metro. I always read the reviews on Venere before booking a hotel; and all I can say is that this was an excellent choice for our visit to Rome and I am very pleased to have made this choice. Welcoming and helpful service; clean, quiet rooms with good facilities; Conveniently close to the Metro although was also happy to walk to and from the City centre. The sound-proofed windows really work well. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the main street, not that you would have noticed unless you had the window open.

Very friendly staff, but the hotel is located on a very busy street with no way to park near the entrance. It was also hard to find as it is inside an apartment building with a very small sign on the door. The neighborhood seems a bit dangerous, and the only saving grace was that it was walkable to the subway entrance.

We had a fantastic time staying at Principe Eugenio. The rooms are so spacious, the service is excellent (clean towels every day!). The breakfast was one of our favorite moments of the day, and the roomit was served was very cute and cozy. We loved the view from our room to the graden inside the courtyeard, and our daughters loved their veranda to the street. The cleanliness of the entire hotel was unbelivable, and all the people were extremely courteous and discreet. I would strongly recommend this hotel to families with children, as you do feel like you are staying in a homey atmosphere. It is also very close to everything, with two metro stations near by, but the area itself is quiet and residential. We are hoping to go back some day!

It was a nice stay in Rome. The rooms were like expected European standard and very clean. The ones located to the byroad and the garden were very quiet. The room located to the main street (with tram station) can be called quiet also, when thinking about the surroundings. The windows absorb almost every ambient noise. The people at the reception were friendly and answered all our questions regarding our stay in Rome. Especially the restaurant recommendation were helpful. I would choose Principe Eugenio again.

For the money, this hotel is a 9+ as advertised. Very friendly owners who try hard to make the stay pleasant. That said, we did have a couple of minor gripes: A mix-up on reservation of a garden-view was promptly corrected. One morning (out of 5) the shower water temperature and pressure was off...the rest were more than adequate. We like a firm bed, but ours was closer to hard.
