The hotel was tiny and quite old comparing with the pictures given in the website. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist was waiting for us, but so far from a warm welcomed she took our passport and took us to the room and the day after during the breakfast she was very rude. Basically th idea of the hotel was worng. I woulndt say to any of my friends, go to this hotel. HOrrible stay.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The rooms are clean, quiet, bed is comfortable, shower spacious. The breakfast is excellent, too. The only disadvantage that I could think of was that our room was tiny and that the location is not that central. However, we knew all this beforehand so no nasty surprises. Overall, the hotel is charming (the elevator, especially), staff are nice and helpful (although not fluent in English, but they manage) and the stay was pleasant.

It´s our fourth stay in rome. We chose this hotel because it`s near the central places also it isn`t expensive. With an infant and a buggy which is a little bit bigger it is a problem with the elevator and premises also there is no high chair. The breakfast is really not good. The rooms are clear, the bathroom is small and in the room are not enough tray surface. The personal was very friendly up to one.

The hotel is located not too far off from the train station. The room we stayed at was comfortable and clean. It is a small and cosy hotel. With the reasonable rate, it includes a standard breakfast too. The only shortfall is no Internet access within the room. Will definitely come back to Piave the next time we come back to Rome.

In general, Hotel Piave is a nice and inexpensive way to stay in Rome, at walking distance from all the central sites. The main issue I had with it is the size of the rooms, which were too small to comfortably move around. The staff was warm and helpful, the breakfast was standard for Europe and except for their size, the rooms were well designed and just recently renovated.

Hotel is very close to public transportation IF you use buses. Otherwise it is about 10 minutes away walking to the metro. The room we got was large and quiet (because of the good insulation provided by the window, useful in Winter). Breakfast was of excellent quality. For 50 euros for a double room it was a superb stay.

It is a nice little hotel conveniently located. Not too far from Termini, yet stay away the shabby streets near Termini and very quiet. There are a lot of buses nearby taking you to almost every part in Rome. The room is quite small but clean, and the breakfast is good. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby too. The only drawback is there is no wireless for personal laptop in the hotel and you have to use the public laptop provided.

This was our most expensive hotel in europe and the smallest room. It was also the only place without a mini fridge. Having said that, it was clean and comfortable and I think all hotels in Rome are expensive. Thomas was very helpful and entertaining. It is very easy to get to from the train and there were supermarkets nearby. A good location for exploring Roma

The hotel was great but on the welcoming part, the entrance is somewhat intimidating, initially. The exterior did not have a signage for the hotel. We had the address #, only. The elevator is vintage and adds some nostalgia. Overall, breakfast and cafe was good and room, too.

Generally Rome does not seem to offer very good value for money accomodation, this place is clean and fairly well positioned in the city but is let down by the arrogance of the owner who acts like he's doing you a favour. If you can put up with that (and you are quoted a good price) then I'd recommend this place.

Nice intentions offset by very small rooms and a location a bit too far away from main sights. This was the smallest room found in our 3 week trip to four countries. It was about 9 X 12 feet (3 X 4 meters) and was really crowded just for the 2 of us. Room was quiet, clean, and well maintained, but water is subject to being lost in the middle of a shower if someone else in the building turned their water on (happened to my wife). Only 1 person at a time in the bathroom. Elevator is a relic, but worked when needed. Breakfast offered a good choice of rolls, ham, cheese, cereals, yogurt, coffee, juices. Older man at the desk nights offered good restaurants that we enjoyed. It took about 15-20 minutes to walk from the train station and the location is away from most of the major sights (with no close metro stop available). Price for what's delivered is too expensive (we paid 120 euros a night). The hotel is OK, but we will look for another hotel further to the West with better value next time.

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Piave in late April 2008. It was OK I suppose for Rome, as everything seems very expensive. Our room was very small with not too much space for luggage or to move around. The bathroom also was very confined. We probably wouldn't recommend it for the summer months as the air-conditioining didn't seem to work very well. The hotel location wasn't too bad, about a 15 min walk from Rome Termini. So, all up, too not bad, not too good. It's certainly not a dump, but if we ever get back to Rome, we'd probably like to to stay in a more comfortable hotel.

The staff was fairly friendly, rooms clean, fresh fruit for breakfast - which was a treat. Rooms small but typical for Europe, noise from the street but you're in a big city. Close to the park for exercise, close to the train station and many other areas, close to an excellent pizza restaurant that does take out as well.

We stayed here one night on our way home from Italy. The location was very convenient to the train station, and it was in a nice neighborhood near restaurants. Our host was very accomodating, even rising early to give us coffee before our dawn departure. Our room and bath were totally updated. The room was cramped, and would benefit from having some of the excess furniture and draperies removed. Otherwise, we thought the hotel was very nice.

The small hotel located in the thrird floor of a historical building, was a really good surprise to me. The efficent and warm welcome, the hospitality of the staff and the good taste of details in the rooms and the public areas exceeded my expectations. As per the location, the hotel is blocks away from the big trains/metro station to take you anywhere into or out of town. Also, being Rome a city to discover by walking, for those who like to do it this way, from the Piave you can reach the city center and the main places to be seen, by walking. I am in love with Rome and for sure, next time I am back there, I will be also back in the beautiful Piave. One of the best small places I have known while travelling in Italy.

The hotel which is on the third floor of an apartment building was quite difficult to locate on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It was reached via a very old elevator! The old chap (the owner) who let us in commented in poor English on my good Italian (which is non-existent). Everyday he used increasingly more English to say how my Italian was improving which it was not! A theory of mind problem! The weather was good, so the quite long walks to the main sites were fine. We did not use public transport. The area around is quiet and peaceful. The room was very small but clean, and everything worked. Breakfast was typically continental and efficiently served. Apart from the rather dingy front entrance to the apartment block (there were private apartments on other floors) everything was very good and I would certainly stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel has either been recently renovated or they do a really good job with maintenance/cleaning. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The bed was comfortable and I actually fit into it, being 6'2 some of the other places we stayed at my feet would go past the edge. The breakfast buffet selection could have been better. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

This was located an easy 15 minute walk from Termini station in a quiet neighborhood that was very convenient to their great bus system. The rooms were very clean, quiet and perfect for 2. Too small for more. The dollar is so weak (spring 08) that it was expensive (140 Euros= 210 dollars) given the smallness of the room and the limited English speakers available at the front desk all day. But it is very clean, quiet, the breakfast was excellent, and it is easy to find. We found it convenient to the sites whether walking or bussing it. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is quite nice. They did provide everything they promised. A minor inconvenience is that are situated on the third floor in a building and you feel like staying in a room in a large apartment, but this is far from bad for young people. Very close to Termini and the Coloseo. The elevator in the building was a unique experience - I have never ridden in an ancient elevator such as this. It brings you back to WWII. Staff - very friendly and efficient. Good command of English.

I am a frequent visitor to Rome, and have been for 25 years. This is in a city where mediocrity is getting to be very expensive. Rooms and the hotel in general are quite stylish, and lot of attention is paid to detail. These people care. Easy walk from Termini, the Porta Pia area and Parioli. Hosts are quite gracious, and your experience will be enhanced if you speak even a little Italian.

Great family run hotel. Highly recommended. The hotel is in a residential area about 10min walk from Termini. The room and bathroom are small but clean and new. It is generally quite at night, except for the garbage truch which came at midnight both nights of our stay. The front desk stuff are very friendily and helpful. We felt like we are genuinely welcomed there. The free breakfast is great. There are ham, salami, cheese, yogurt, two kinds of celerals, fruits, bread buns, croissants, milk, juice, etc. (see pictures) We were able to eat breakfast leisurely the fist morning when it was already one hour past the breakfast time. No body hurried us.

Hotel Piave was exactly what we wanted in Rome. They were willing to stow or baggage til our room was ready and the excellent young woman on the front desk spoke great English and was totally helpful our entire stay (sorry I don't know her name, but she had glasses). The room had everything we needed, the bathroom was a good size and overall there was a really nice feel to the place. There were also several brilliant trattorie close by including Al Forno (also on via Piave). We rated this hotel one of the best we stayed at in Italy. The welcoming, friendly staff and nice surrounding area made it a great place to rest a weary head!

Good value and location. Thanks to other reviews, we were prepared to search by address (sign just a plaque on the wall) to find the place and to buzz to get door opened for admission. Quaint, tiny elevator wasn't working when we arrived so we had to lug suitcases up three floors. Manager spoke limited English, we knew no Italian, so we frustrated the poor man a bit trying to orient us. However, after that, everything was great. Room was small, but quiet and comfortable. Air conditioning worked. Breakfasts were generous. Elevator was fixed. Found several good pizza restaurants nearby. Neighborhood felt safe both day and night. Within walking distance of Stazione Termini for the Hop On, Hop Off tour, the Metro, and the trains to other cities.

The first time at Hotel Piave, but it would be on my list of hotels should I wish to stay in Rome again in the future. It's main drawback was the distance from the city centre. It was a long walk to the 'sights' but then again I could have used public transport. The hotel was clean and the staff welcoming-even apologetic for us having to climb the stairs to the 3rd floor. The website directions were very accurate, even telling us about the small Hotel nameplate at ground level.

good location walking distance from Termini station. building itself a bit run down and the sign of the hotel is hard to spot. Only on the sunday a concierge we never saw before woke us up at 8.30am to ask us to come to breakfast - even though it closed at 9.30! the room we stayed in had been redone but had already a few things wrong - chipped tiling, shelves not so stable etc. Quite pricey - but that is Rome for you...

The reason Piave does not get our top mark throughout is due entirely to the rigidity of the breakfast fare offered. Yes, it was adequate, but boring bulk buy basics, and we discovered we could buy pure juice and yoghurt in the supermarket at a cheaper price than in the UK. We knew it was on the third floor and reliance placed on the antique lift! However, the amenities in the area were easily reached and Thomas & Sylvia were extremely helpful.

The Hotel is quite hard to locate; look for the small plaque on the wall on the west side of Via Piave saying 'Albergo Piave' and speak into the grille. then help yourself to the quaint old lift up to the third floor. Once there, the welcome is warm and friendly, the rooms clean, good quality and cool in summer. Breakfast is basic but good. Little English is spoken, but don't let this put you off. They are nice people and that is what matters.

The staff was very nice and helpful allthough they didn't speak very fluent english wich was very coommon all around Rome. I would go again and recommend to budget travellers. After a rather eccentric approach to the hotel (I don't recommend it to anyone with a lift phobia)this is a real surprise. It is tastefully decorated and very pleasant. It is ideally situated as it's ten minutes walk from the station which means very handy for the bus and the Metro. I would definitely stay here again as I found it a good base from which to explore Rome and there was an ambience about it which you don't often find in hotels at the lower end of the price range. I'd also like to put in a word for La Pizzeria "al Forno della Soffitta" two blocks up on the same side of the road - excellent pizza, reasonable prices and full of local people rather than tourists.

Do not judge a book by its cover. When you first get on via Piave and locate the building you wonder were you are. But once inside you can fell the warmth and the italian hospitality. Rooms are small but who cares? They are very clean and comfortable. Well located, you are few blocks away from the metro and within a kilometer of a beautiful park and museum (Borghese). I strongly recommend Auberge Piave and use this opportunity to thank and give our best regards to the personnel.

Location: the hotel is difficult to find( even on the street on which it is located). Rooms: Small. Lift: Rickety. it is one of those 50 year old lifts maintaining which is not in the top 100 to do list at the hotel and probably hasnt been on that list for the last 49 years. Service: Next to shit. The room was small, but exactly as in the photo. The area was quiet and safe at night. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. However, we were very disturbed to find that, despite being asked on the morning of the day prior to departure to provide cash payment because the credit card facilities were not available, no receipt was forthcoming. After making a fuss, we were promised that a receipt would be sent on, and indeed, it was waiting for us when we got home. Nevertheless, it caused us some anxiety, and patrons should be careful to ascertain that a receipt will be provided if cash is requested.

Very satisfied with experience. Good facilities - clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, good choice of restaurants close by, and near to public transport. Not easy to spot at street level - look out for small plaque on side of building.

excellent hotel, well placed to see the sights, very clean, rooms small but adequate space and facilities in each room. staff really helpful and friendly. a number of reasonably priced restaurants close by - within couple of hundred meteres. breakfast was basic continental style but perfectly adequate considering the reasonable price. the area was fine we didn't feel worried about walking around at night and we were given an outdoor key to access the property. we would recommend to friends and would definitly stay again.

The entry of the Hotel is located on the third floor of a not very nice building but once you enter the area of the Hotel everything is clean, nice and recently done. The breakfast is simple but fresh. And all this for a very reasonable price. Only problem the location of the Hotel is not so central.

Our stay was excellent, Thomas in particular was a wonderful host who really helped with restaurant reservations. Great place and would revisit. Just be careful with credit card details as mine was used without my knowledge in Italy - obviously can't say how or who used it but very disturbing none the less.

This place is a gem! It is beautiful. The staff was wonderful and welcoming. I'm not sure how well everyone speaks english, but you will find any small attempt you make at speaking Italian will be greatly appreciated. I hestitated at even rating this place (because I want it to be my secret!) Simply a wonderful, beautiful and affordable hotel.

... of middle-aged backpackers. Excellent value for money. Look out for the street number (14) rather than hotel name. The plate is quite small and reads "Albergo Piave", not Hotel. Suprisingly, odd numbers ascend on the right and even numbers on the left. The Roman way? Among other properties in similar location and price range, we picked Piave based on the unanimous vote by previous reviewers on this site for cleanliness, state of repair and general level of service. And it proved better than true. The refurbishment included new soundproof windows in plastic frames, so no street noise penetrated the room. Friendly staff, good breakfast. We will certainly come again.

Be sure you know that the sign for Piave is very small on the side of the building it is in and that the hotel is on the third floor thru a secure door. It was challenging to drive around the block trying to find the hotel. The location is not really ideal for many of Rome's sights. The nearest metro station is a 10 minute walk away. We did a lot of walking! Next time I would stay more central. The room was incredibly small, there was barely room to walk around the side of the bed. There was also no place to put one suitcase other than the small floor space, let alone the two we had. Decor is nice and has obviously been recently updated. Breakfast was typical for Italy. The staff could answer questions fine, but were not overtly helpful. The bathroom did have the best shower we had on the whole trip, so that was a plus!

Very small room but excellent bed and shower! Friendly desk. Horrible Breakfast in ugly room with unfriendly waitress. For this you better go to one of the typical italian café you can find round the corners. And don´t ask for a Taxi at the desk. They tell you a single ride to Ciampino Airport will cost 55 Euro, you better take a taxi in the street or at central station nearby and pay 25 to 30 Euro instead!

HOTEL RECOMENDABLE
