The facility and staff were wonderful, and the location was perfect to be close to the Vatican. The price was a bit higher, but the location made it worth the price.

Wonderful hotel in excellent location right next to st peters square. Perfect base for seeing main attractions in Rome which are all walking distance from hotel. Buffet style breakfast not really my thing hence the overall rating. Bar prices not cheap but no different to price of drinks we were paying in rest of Rome. Would stay at same hotel again and recommend the hotel to others.

A beautiful and quiet place that allowed our visit to St. Peter's to be rewarding both as a tourist and a spiritual experience.

We LOVED this hotel! With the Vatican and Sistine Chapel steps away from the doorstep you couldnt ask for a more central location. The lobby and reception are beautiful as the hotel is set in an old monastry and is so clean and inspiring. The rooms were small but well appointed with luxurious bedding and towels. The breakfast was lovely with a full range and the staff very kind and helpful.

What a location, to walk out on the street and be confronted by one of the world's most recognisable landmarks, St Pietro's Basilica, is just so impressive. The Hotel Palazzo Cardinal Cesi proved to be one of the best surprises of our trip to Europe. The quality of the hotel itself, the modern and well appointed room exceeded our expectations in every respect. The shower was on the small side however this did not really matter to us. Breakfast was plentiful and offered much variety and the staff were very helpful. The highlight to us was the location and the proximity to the area surrounding the Vatican.

I booked two rooms for my husband and me and my parents during our 3-night stay in Rome. We were VERY pleased with the Hotel Palazzo Cardinal Cesi- it was our favorite out of all of our Italy hotels! The hotel location was very close to the Vatican - I do not think it was possible to be any closer. The rooms were European small, but not tiny. The rooms were also very clean. The courtyard was an excellent place for us to meet in the evening for drinks and relaxing. The breakfast was a typical European breakfast and included in the room rate. The staff was helpful, and helped us with taxis, locations, and restaurants. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

The hotel courtyard, lobby, breakfast room, and room were beautiful. The room was very comfortable for 3 people, although we did hear traffic (fast-moving cars) throughout the night. The price isn't low, but the location and facility are great. The staff was very gracious - I wish we could have lingered longer in the morning, rather than rush to catch a plane. Even though we needed to leave just before breakfast officially started, the staff welcomed and encouraged us to have breakfast early.

It is very special hotel, nice, quiet, with warm and kind personnel. The atmosphere of the old palazzo, is great, some mystic, religius. It was nice to receive the "evangelio" of Sunday in the room. It was really a very great experience to stay there, and when you go out inmediately you can see the Cathedral.

This is actually Geri's daughter Jamie, i'm writing w/ her input. Beautiful courtyard, charming staff, st peter's square right across the way. Not so close to the other sites, about a half hour by bus.

Fabulous location (very close to Piazza San Pietro) made it very easy to access all of Rome since taxis and buses stopped very near to the hotel. There were only two drawbacks with the hotel and that was (1) there is a considerable amount of street noise at night along the street intersecting the Via della Conciliazione and (2) there were no room darkening shades in the room and the drapes do not close all the way, which made it necessary for me to paper clip the drapes shut at night! The hotel staff could not have been friendlier -- Franz and Mimmo were particularly helpful and very nice. I truly enjoyed my stay at the Palazzo Cardinal Cesi and would definitely stay there again.

Delightful holtel with very friendly employees. Our rooms were ready on arrival. I had asked for one beside my son and was disappointed this could not be accommodated. However, the hotel is small with a really secure feeling so as it turned out it was fine. Its lacks a bit of comfort in the open areas (no nice plump seating), there is no restaurant (but plenty around the area). There is a limited bar service. Our rooms were spotless. Bed linen and towel changes daily. Shower unit tiny. Otherwise functional and comfortable.

A hidden gem. I knew I was in the right location on the street, but couldn't find the hotel entrance. It turned out I was standing in front of it; two large, beautiful wooden doors, which was an entrance shared by Church offices, I believe. As you walk in, you pass through a beautiful, quiet courtyard. The staff was very inviting and helpful. The room, although small (but I was only there to sleep and shower), was very clean and well designed. It was also very quiet and away from the street traffic, so I slept like a baby. I will definitely stay here again.

Rooms very, very tiny. Showers so small, that it was difficult to lift arms up to wash my hair! Breakfast adequate, not wonderful. We needed to stay in one of our two rooms 3 hours extra, due to a tour, and we were only allowed to do so if we agreed to pay an extra 60 Euros. I thought that was unfortunate, especially considering the high price of the two rooms that we'd rented, and the fact that they were not full, for those nights. Location was good, and the central courtyard was lovely. Staff was nice, not warm. Would not return here.

I took my partner as a birthday surprise and this hotel couldn't have been better. The staff were wonderful and the hotel stunning. It is expensive but for Rome, the rooms were spacious and the location was practically in the Pope's front garden. Basically, it was everything I could have wished for, wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and I would love to go back. No scope for evening meal but like to explore so this didn't bother me. Probably not ideal for families but not in a bad way. Go on - treat yourselves.

Very close to the Vatican. Parking right outside but in busy area. Hard to find late at night but once you learn the numbers on the walls, you can find it. Excellent breakfast. Pricey but for the location, not bad.

You cannot get a better hotel, if Vatican is your first priority. The rooms are small, but I was told that's how the monks lived there, as it is a 400 year old monastery converted to a very modern hotel that retains all the charm and serenity of a monastery. Its location is everything, as all the tour buses start or end there. Service is excellent and breakfast is sumptous. One word of caution, the toilet can be bit restrictive for fat people. They should check out the deluxe rooms. On the whole, it is full value for money. I would love to go back to this hotel, anytime.

Absolutely superb Hotel in the best location in Rome (100 meters from San Pietro)with extremely nice and competent people at all levels. If you are coming to Rome with intention to be in the center of Christianity (Vatican) as well as just normal tourist sightseeing it is the place to stay. This time it was our fourth time, and for sure not the last one.

I think the clientele are people that want to stay at a place that is luxurious, cozy, convenient, comfortable with quality services. I personal like that place because it was not a big chain hotel and had a personal touch. This was my first time I stayed here.

Since we had so little time in Rome, I chose this hotel for the convenience to the Vatican area. It is literally steps from St. Peter's square. After spending most of our vacation in a car and walking up and down hills and steps in the Tuscany area, we were more than ready to have the convenience of being right in the heart of Rome--mainly the Vatican area. Since it is an older hotel--which shares part of the building with another private residence- the rooms were rather small. We had two rooms-the triple for my 3 teens was just slightly bigger than the double and was tight for an extra bed. But since we were there only one night, we did not mind that. A longer stay would have been uncomfortable. They had a breakfast room( we did not have as we left early AM), a small room with free internet access and an area in the lobby for afternoon drinks. The building had a really lovely courtyard-like area. Beside walking out the door and to the Vatican and St. Peter's, we easily walked over one of the many foot bridges to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, the Spanish steps and the Trevi fountain. Though on a map it may seem like the Vatican area and the Colloseum area are far apart, they really are not and can be walked to and from in one morning or afternoon--with many nice shops and restaurants along the way to visit. Get a good street map and you'll be fine. The staff recommended a restaurant close by and happily made reservations for us. La Barca (sp?). It was great but pricey. We splurged our last night in Italy, but there are lots of other's to choose from. Do some research beforehand.

Best personel I have seen in Italian hotels for many many years: very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Will definitely stay there again. The peaceful atmosphere once one walks through the main gate is so relaxing, the daily reading from the Gospel one gets under his door every morning and the whole surrounding inside the hotel prepares you for the very short walk to the Vatican and is the start of the pilgrimage to the Vatican. The best for anyone who wants to visit the Vatican and live the relationship with God.

The hotel Palazzo Cardinal Cesi is right next to the Vatican; however using the Metro Linea A or the bus system you can reach all destinations in the historic quarter easily. Our room facing a backstreet was as quiet as you can expect in Rome. The beds are on the smallish side - as was the bathroom - but very comfortable. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. The personnel was friendly and offered an overall good and personalized service. The breakfast was o.k., however we missed the croissants the hotel is referring to on its website. All in all, we would return to the Palazzo Cardinal Cesi for our next stay in Rome.

My friend and I had to cancel this hotel room the day of the reservation because we were both injured the day before and had to go to the doctor. We cancelled because we had to cut a few days of sight seeing out of the trip because we needed to stay where we were and rest. I checked the website, and it said there would be a fee for late cancellation - makes sense. I called, and they said they were going to charge me for the entire price of my hotel stay. I asked to speak to a manager and they told me to call back at 1pm. When I did, no one answered the phone. I called 4 times that day, and no one answered. One time it went to the answering machine. I emailed venere.com for help, and they did nothing. I don't recommend staying here, the people were very rude! The customer service of this website wasn't much help either.

The room and location where great. The only problem we found was that instead of a double bed we were given two twin beds instead. You can walk outside and literally throw a large stone into the St. Peter's Square. Breakfast was tasty.

If someone wants to be in the Vatican right next to St. Peter Square it would be hard to imagine better place. On top of the location service and welcome would be hard to find in any other hotel - it was absolutely superb stay.
