This Hotel was a great choice. Near to Piazza Venezia it was the perfect starting point for all our tours. Short walking distances to the Collosseum, Pantheon,Trevi and many more. A few minutes by bus from Termini Station, or to the Vatican. Our room in the 5th floor had a little balcony and was clean, quiet and enough comfortable. The highlights of the Pace Helvezia were an excellent breakfast buffet and the garden terrace on the roof with a wonderful sight all over Rome. We spend ours up there watching the sunset. No question about coming back.

This hotel is very well situated within easy walking distance to all the main sights, the rooms were air conditioned which was wonderful as we were visiting in August. The buffet breakfast was very good and staff worked hard to keep it well stocked, but the icing on the cake is the wonderful rooftop terrace where we sat in the evenings watching the sun set over St Peter's. It doesn't get any better than that!

The hotel is well located if you which to visit Rome. However if you travel by car the hotel doesn't offer any parking facility. The hotel was quoted as a 4 stars hotel which he did'nt deserve. The rooms were small , not very clean and noisy. The breakfast room was to small and the quality of the food average. I would'nt recommend this hotel to enjoy Rome despite its location

Very enjoyable stay, the people were very helpful, and the view from the rooftop deck is worth the price itself!

This hotel has an absolutely superb location for sight seeing, but in common with many hotels in Rome does not represent good value for money! The air conditioning in our room did not keep the room cool and so we had to run it all night (noise). The room was tiny. Having said all this I would probabally stay there again for the location until I can find better.

Second time I've stayed here. No hot water for shower one morning - happened during my previous stay as well. Breakfast room has a machine to make capuccino now! Very disappointed that breakfast did not still have waitstaff and offer real cafe. The rooftop makes up for any shortcomings though.

We were a party of 4 mature adults (2 married couples). We arrived early in the morning and although we did not expect our rooms to be available we were able to check in. We appreciated this greatly as we had just arrived from Australia after more than 24 hours travelling. The hotel more than met our needs and the breakfast was excellent for the price of hotel. The only thing I could say against the hotel was that we were unable to get even a cup of tea on one morning when we had booked to do a tour, as we had to leave 10 minutes before the breakfast room opened. We felt that as the staff were setting up for breakfast, it was not too much to expect to be able to have a cup of tea or coffee. People from other hotels who were doing the same tour as us were given a breakfast box from their hotel to take with them.

Great location. Impossible to find even using a GPS. Had to park in the area and walk till we found it. Parking was 30 euros a day which is standard. Very noisy street activity at night sometimes till very early morning, but location couldn't be beat as we never used the car once it was parked.

The hotel was excellant the staff were professional and friendly the location was central. There was a lot of traffic noise but this is expected in a large city. The only disappointment was the lack of hot water on an evening to shower.

This is no 4 Star Hotel, but could be. Very warn, minimum staff on sight. Advertised a bar, but not open. Internet availability consisted of one ancient very slow computer that you had to pay for. Day front desk clerk smoked, not a pleasant experience when having to ask for anything. Roof top was terrific, but trash can was not emptied for days. Room size was adequate, beds were terrible... one hard mattress. Shower featured hot & cold water, would be hot one minute and cold the next. This hotel could be so much better, with proper management and a makeover. The breakfast was a highlight, well stocked and the attendant was terrific. The location is superb, can walk to most tourist sights. Expected more for being tagged a 4 Star Hotel, especially for the price paid.

I admit I was lucky, because I got a bigger single room I expected, I had seen photos of a too small single room. Due to the purpose of my visit was tourism, I spent the day outside of the hotel except at breakfast time and at dusk, enjoying of the marvellous terrace. But in general, the hotel needs a complete improvement. the best: the terrace and the situation for the tourists the worst: a strange smell in the bathroom and the price for the quality of the hotel

Single room was really small and noisy but after asking (and paying a bit extra) I was transferred into a double room which was really great, spacious, huge bathroom and great view. So my advise is do not take single room even if you travel alone. Great breakfast.

Our room was in front and the hotel is on a very busy street. Fortunately they have the metal shutters that come down over the terrace door that blocks out noise and light. The breakfast is excellent with a ton of choices. The roof top deck has great views. The hotel is in a very central location between the Coluseum and Trevi Fountain. I would definately recommend this hotel.

We were two friends staying in two single rooms at the back of the hotel, and we slept better than at home! No noice at all! But the hotel IS facing a very busy street, so I cannot tell how it would be staying in a front-room. But we could hardly have found a more central hotel. We walked to all the important sights, but could have travelled by one of the many buses from the bus-stop just down the street. Our rooms were rather spacious compared to many other singles I have stayed in ( but I think their single rooms are of different sices)The bathrooms were nice, clean and large! Aircon worked perfectly. Dont expect a view from the rooms at the back of the hotel unless you are staying on the upper floors.( The lifts are tiny!) We loved the roof-terrace! Staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is not modern, but has a certain charm and personality.

Close to the centre of virtually everything in Rome ie three mins to the Trevi Fountain and about ten to the Colosseum. Cheap cab fare from the station. Very clean and professional and very helpful staff. If for no other reason stay here for the roof top garden view with a bottle of plonk at night. Breakfast was good but under-staffed on our visit. Ask for a quiet room because the hotel is on a very busy thorough fare. Note that hotels in Italy generally do not have irons. Lovely restaurant on the way to the Trevi fountain (on the left).

I had a single room at Pace Helvetia for three nights in July 2007. While it was quite easily the smallest hotel room I've ever seen, it was still adequate for my needs. There was an easy chair for reading during the afternoon siesta and a nice bathroom; other than that and a bed, what else could I need? The window faced the busy street below, but the traffic noises were greatly reduced at night and with noise-cancelling double paned windows, I had no issues at all with noise. I can't say enough positive things about the location of this hotel. It was no more than 5 minutes to the Trevi Fountain in one direction and about the same distance to the Roman Forum in the other. The Colosseum, which I first glimpsed from the hotel's lovely rooftop terrace, is also within easy walking distance. (It isn't nearly as far away as it looks from the roof.) It is literally just around the corner from Piazza Venezia and the Capitoline Museum. I walked to ALL of the sights I wanted to see, including the Vatican which was a straight shot and less than two miles. (That one seemed a little long at the start but, when done early in the morning before the crowds hit the street, it wasn't bad at all.) FYI: I;m a 52 year-old female couch potato; if I can do it, just about anyone can. The hotel also provided the best breakfast of any I stayed at in Italy with cold meats and cheeses in addition to the usual pastries and cereal.

Hotels are expensive in Rome, also this one if you consider that a bargain price is still 230 Euros/night in a small room. Good position, close to Forum, Coliseo, Piazza Venezia, Trevi, etc. Good link to taxis buses and Sightseeing tours. Nice terrace on the roof with spendid view. Quiet rooms courtside (even if some seabirds bring up their offspring with loud squeals on the close roofs). Nice and kind employees. Breakfast early closed 9.30am! Nearby restaurants expensives except La Piazzeta (good, near via Cavour) or the Bar at the next corner. Would probably stay again here.

The hotel was very well situated for our purposes. We were very pleased to be given a room at the back with a balcony as the view was much nicer. However it would have been good to have control over the water temperature from the shower! The staff were efficient and welcoming despite the hotel being almost fully booked. The reception areas were never crowded and you were able to work undisturbed. Breakfast was a good balance between continental style and british style breakfasts and were ample to set us up for the morning. All other meals you had to eat out but that was no problem. We would recommend Roma tours to enable quicker entry to places like the Colisseum and make use of bus passes as they are cheaper than taxis.

Toplocation, centre of the centre! Nice and clean hotel, oldfashioned&warm/comfortable. stunning view over all of Rome from the roof-patio. You can bring wine, pizza etc. with you and enjoy sunset ! 13 Euro to mainstation "Statione Termini" with the taxi or approx 2.5km by foot. Some very nice and cheap cafes within 50-300 metres (directly in front of national dramatic theatre or 2 minutes if you come out of the hotel and follow the street that climbs the hill to Via Nationale: Espresso Euro 0.70 / Cappuccino Euro 1.00 UNBELIEVABLE CHEAP and sooooooo delicious !). Just across: "Rockodile Bar" with good music, mixed audience, fair prices and party. 10-12 minutes to Collosseum, 5-7 minutes to Palatin hill, 3-5 minutes to Fontana di Trevi or Memorial Vittorio Emmanuele, 2 minutes to Piazza Venezia where you can buy a ticket for one of the hop on -hop off buses for Euro 20.- (validity: 2 days)and a great possibility to do the bigger distances by bus, get off, take your pics, walk around and then take the next bus 30 min later. Next stay will definitely be there again !I had the possibility to take a look at 3 other hotels&rooms (nearby that location) for the same price or more expensive where some colleagues staid at and compared to Pace Helvezia they were not worth what they had to pay!

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately return to the hotel and to the area. Sights such as the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps , Coloseum and the Vatican were all easily within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful providing maps and advice as necessary. The only slight downside was the noise of the traffic which was mimimised as soon as we closed the windows. Rooms were clean and comfortable. A great stay. Thank You!

Stayed 3 nights in a tripleroom at P.H. with my daughter and niece. We were overall very satisfied with the hotel and our room number 90. We´ll give special plus for the hotel for it´s: 1.location 2.rooftop terrace 3.breakfast. Our room was located in the corner towards a busy mainstreet - but the noise absolutely didn´t disturb us! I`d suggest to all guests who complain about noise: hold the windows closed - or think twice if it´s at all a good idea for you to travel. Gunnel Ehrstedt

Overall, a wonderful hotel. Clean and pleasant and great balcony. However, you could not regulate the water temp in the shower and it went quickly to scalding hot to very cold. The hotel did not give us our wake up call and we came close to missing our train.

The location is excellent and the roof top terrace a lovely surprise. I requested a room at the back as I had read it could be noisy at the front as this faces the street. My request was accomodated. It was the World Cup win and the streets were full of people--but as long as we closed our windows, it was fine. I ended up with a great corner room with two patios--again pleasant surprise. The staff was absolutely wonderful and helpful. The beds were OK--they weren't what one would get at the Hilton or Ritz, but then again, the rates are reasonable. The breakfast was good except very crowded. The location was about 15 minute walk from train station--great location especially when there was a taxi strike. The hotel also will arrange transfers to and from the airport. Rates are good. I would stay again.

We didn't have a very good break in Rome but that was not the fault of the hotel which was actually very nice with a beautiful roof terrace offering fantastic views of the city. My one complaint about the hotel was that we had a very small room on the top floor where we were kept awake at night by the constant noise from the water pipes. We complained about this the next morning but the concierge didn't seem to think it was a problem and as we were checking out after one night we didn't pursue it. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a good variety of breads, fruit, yoghurts etc. There is a lovely Sicillian trattoria just around the corner from the hotel which I would recommend. I would also encourage anyone who gets a taxi to ensure that it is a registered white taxi with a taxi sign on the roof. We didn't realise this and got royally ripped off with a fare of €50 for a 2 mile journey!

The hotel boasts a convenient location; it is a five minute walk to the Spanish Steps and maybe 10 minutes walk to the Coliseum. We were also very pleased with our room which was on the top floor and equipped with a semi-private terrace. The terrace showcased a beautiful roof-top scene, with a partial view of the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II. This was definitely the highlight of the hotel. The bed was below expectations: the mattresses seemed old and we did not have a true queen (two singles pushed together). We also found the shower to be extremely inconsistent – no temperature control. We found the attitude of most of the hotel employees to be disappointing, and we had difficulty in getting help with transportation and reservations. We requested a wake-up call on the last day of our stay to catch a mid-morning train and the call never came. We were interrupted at several junctures by various members of the staff while we were still in our room: we could not find a do not disturb sign. At one point, we got in to an argument with a man who came in to our room unannounced when trying to replace drinks in the mini-bar at 10 in the morning. He demanded that it was time for us to check-out when we were staying for another night. On our way back to the U.S., we stayed for one night in another hotel in Rome, Giglio dell'Opera, which was nearer the train station and about 40% less expensive than Pace-Helvezia. Though much cheaper, the beds and shower were better and the staff called us a 6:30 AM cab with no problems. We will definitely return to Italy in the future – we had a really great time. However, we will not choose to stay at Pace-Helvezia in Rome, and we would suggest that others do the same.

The room was so small that we kept knocking into things. There was a double bed with hardly any room to move. It was dangerous having a shower as the water went very cold and then very hot suddenly. The AC had been tampered with so although we could put it on, there was no fan so it was much too hot. You had to push the Reception staff to help you with tourist information. They were helpful but weren't forthcoming with it and I felt it was a burden for them. The hotel was beautiful and it's location was excellent but I am not sure I would stay there again for the price.

With only a bit of renovation it would be a superior rather than a modest 4 star hotel. It is not particularly spacious and one should not mind urban noise. On the plus side, I never had to use any means of transportation during my stay, the farthest walk was the Vatican (25-30 min), while the Colosseum etc. is more or less in the same neighborhood.

We had a wonderful stay, with beautiful views from the roof/terrace. The hotels' central location was excellent as we walked to all the attractions with ease. Our room was spacious, the bathroom was immaculate. The airconditioning was excellent once we figured out how to turn it on and breakfast was plentiful. Excellent location, I understand some guests might have had a bad/wrong impression if staying on low floor (I guess the IV Novembre street might be quite noisy at night) but we had the first night of our honeymoon on 5th floor, at Vitttorio Emanuele's monument side, and combination of view and quite was great, not to mention the roof terrace - a real jewel - and for this price range definitely a reason (together with location) to prefer this hotel to other, overrated properties - we enjoyed a sunset view allowing to embrace Colosseo and Vaticano, Piazza del Popolo and Trinitá dei Monti- all you can wish to admire...

The hotel standard was excellent - for a three star . Unfortunately the hotel was supposed to be a four star. Some honest regrading is required. Four star means a much larger rooms and staff to show patrons to their accommodation, not being giben a ket and told, however welcomingly and politely how to find it. . Otherwise the room was comfortable and (the weather was cold) warm. The breakfast was good. My wife and I liked it.

The desk clerk at the hotel was friendly, as well as funny with a good sense of humor. The rooms were extremely noisy. The bathrooms were clean, but the room itself had not been dusted since 1950. There were no bellmen to help with luggage, and the lifts were about 2' x 3', making getting lugguge to the upper floors quite difficult. The location of the hotel was very good, just a short walk from the forum and other sites.

Great location near coloseum and shopping. Easy walk to Trevi, Pantheon, Navona. Rooftop terrace was wonderful! Expected other reviews and praise to dampen my surprise. If for no other reason, choose the terrace as your motivation for staying here. It's higher than surrounding buildings so you get a FANTASTIC view of Coloseum, Vatican, Pantheon, and the hills. Lots of flowers and decorations make it pretty. It was raining when we went but we still went up there every night because it was so beautiful. Breakfast is better than others we stayed at. Bathroom was new and lovely. Common areas were spacious so you didn't feel claustrophobic in the hotel.

Everythinhg was fine except for the bedroom, it had to be one of the smallest rooms I have stayed in. The airconditioning was so noisy that it was impossible to sleep, but opening the window was worse as the noise of the traffic was continuous. The room was clean but very basic, we had hot water on only one morning - the morning we left and I think this was because we showered early. The hotel is in a fantasic location and I would return again if I had a larger quiter room. The site was excellent except for the lack of directions to the hotel. One other thing that slightly worried me when you sent the confirmation you put my cc security number on the confirmation.

Price quality this is a good hotel. Although I shouldn't give it a 4star rating. Location is perfect to visit Rome by foot. Breakfast is good. We booked a roundtrip transfer from the airport to the hotel. Well organized but not completely the price we agreed.

The hotel is on a main thoroughfare and is quite noisy. The location is moderately convenient to main attractions in Rome. Breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly. Our rooms were small and the amenities were substandard for the price, 220 euro per night. For that amount I expected more and could have stayed at a far better hotel.

This hotel is in a great area. Close to everything. The view from the roof top terrace is great. I had a corner room which was very large with lots of light. The decor was above avearge for Italian hotels. The breakfast was good. My only sugestion is that they add a few more tables and chairs on the roof top terrace.

This hotel was a bit of a disappointment. The location was excellent (walking distance to all the sites) and the roof top deck was nice. Although the breakfast was plentiful, there were bugs in the breakfast room. Overall, the hotel was in need of a face lift. The room and bathroom were large but the decor was outdated and the air conditioning never seemed to work properly. I think this hotel should be a three star not a four star. I found it a bit pricy for the accommodations.

Great location, nice hotel, small rooms by American standards but typical by European standards. Very nice bathrooms. Very slow and small elevators. Lovely view from the rooftop terrace. We heard other guests complain about the noise but we had a room at the back of the hotel facing the courtyard and it was very quiet. Would recommend this hotel to others.

We are very well pleased with our stay at the hotel. High standard, cosy atmosphere and a perfect location. I will espescially mention the roof-terrasse, which was a perfect place to relax in the evening, watching the sunset over the city. It's a good thing this is open for the guests all time. We had a very pleasent stay at Pace-Helvetia, and we are sure to come back next time we visit Rome!

Hotel was clean and elegant. Disappointed when air conditioning did not work the first night - but a floor fan was provided. Second day was also inconvenienced due to hotel not having water. Room rate should have been discounted - but when asked met with silence.

Great location - we walked everywhere. However, this is NOT a four-star hotel although they charge four-star rates. It very tired and very dated. Everywhere could do with a lick of paint and the bedrooms could definitely do with an update and new furniture. Its a shame because it could be a fab hotel. I probably wouldn't stay here again - at that price I would like to stay at a true four-star.

We enjoyed our stay (3 nights) at the hotel. Staff was very professional, coped well with a late change in our needs (change one of the two rooms from a single to a double. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful rooftop terrace that really needs coffee service. Good central location, well within walking distance of major venues.

Pace Helvezia is in a suprb location. The hotle is very comfortable. We did notice the price booked via Venere together with the cos of our flight booked via a well know airways was about a quarter the price we would have paid on a package.

The location was excellent but the room very very small and you could feel every metal spring of the mattress. Breakfast could have been a bit healtier but was more and better than we expected. There is not flat iron in the room so you have to wait for it at least a day.

A charming, well situated hotel. The roof terrace is particularly welcoming - it would have been nice to take breakfast here if possible. Also, the bar tended not to be open very often. Other than these slight grumbles, a very nice, friendly hotel in a beautiful city.
