The staff were wonderful. When we arrived the receptionist spoke a little bit of english, but made sure that we had all the necessary information to sight see for the remainder of the day, and to be able to get to the airport in the morning. Subsequently a lady whom spoke English confirmed all details. Both were really welcoming, and could not have done anymore for us. The rooms were also clean, spacious, and beautifully presented.

Miss Alberta was fabulous. Complained about the lack of hot water, were immediately offered another room with working boiler. Nice and sufficient breakfast. Great location, major sight seeings within walking distance. Would definitely go back to Paba when I return to Rome.

Rome was our first stop on a month-long city-hopping tour of Europe and I couldn't have asked for a better start. Paba isn't impressive from the outside but is cozy and welcoming inside. The woman who runs the place was very helpful helping us organize our plans and the hotel was in a really convenient location - we walked to everything while we were there. Breakfast was typical of Italy - yogurt, pastries, rolls, cheese... Filling enough to keep us going until lunch. The room was more spacious than I expected in Rome and although the bed was firm, we both slept well while we were there. I'd recommend it and I'd certainly stay there again.

Hotel Paba was excellent. its 5 min walk from Colosseum, and 15-20 walk from all other tourist sight seeings. Its a 15 min walk from Termini station and its in a street full of restaurants, shops, there is a cash machine and also a pharmacy, so what else would you need. Its a small hotel with only a couple of rooms however our stay was really pleasant and the owner is a very nice lady who makes you feel very welcome. I would definitely go there again!!!

Excellent and safe place to stay. The location is perfect for visiting ancient Rome. The room is beautiful and spaceous, ours has a balcony with beautiful plants. The manager is very nice and helpful. She took care of everything for us. She woke up early to fix us breakfast so that we could catch our plane on time. Highly recommend this BB for any body and especially women travel alone.

The pictures do not due the hotel justice. We stayed in room 1 the Happy Family Room and we were a Happy Family in this Hotel. The price was great, we were a little worried getting out of the taxi and seeing the front door but once we got up stairs we were pleasantly suprised. The breakfast was delicious and Light (common of European Hotels I find. The Hotel Owner was very Sweet!!! And she spoke fluent english. I believe that this hotel should be more than two stars. I will Absolutely stay in The Hotel PABA again!!!!

It was an excellent experience, and I would not hesitate to stay at Paba Hotel again. The only minor downside was having to lug all our luggage from Station Termini to the hotel, and it was a bit hard to find for the first time as the entrance is not very conspicuous. But once we settled in, the hotel was a dream.

Our stay at Paba was excellent. Alberta was a great host. She was very warm, friendly and welcoming. She had excellent knowledge of the tourist information in Rome. She provided us with maps, bus routes, subway schedules and anything else we needed. In fact she even called and confirmed our next day's reservation in Venice. The breakfast served in the room was excellent.

Paba is a small but very comfortable hotel. The location is fantastic, to few meters of colosseum, Palatino, The Roman forum and the Vittorio Emmanuele Monument, and very close to the metro. The staff and specially the lady at the front desk were friendly and helpful in suggesting good places in Rome. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Definitively, We recommend the Hotel Paba and we would stay there again!

This is just a great place to stay. The host was a very nice old lady, who did everything to make our visit comfortable. We had one day of rain and I came home, wet and cold, and I was offered a nice cup of tea immediately. :-) The room was very quiet. The reason for my score is the neighbour who was renovating one day and woke us up early in the morning... The location is great. Right next to Coloseum and The Roman Forum. I would definitely come back here.

Paba Hotel is one of the very best little hotels we have stayed in; we could glimpse the Roman Forum from our balcony Rm6. We have already recommended to friends that they stay at Paba.

We loved our stay at Hotel Paba and definitely recommend it. One of the main things is the hotel's location, which is literally a hundred yards or so from the Forum, just around the corner from the Colosseum, next to a bus stop and close to the metro. We walked all around the centre at night without needing to use public transport at all, but this was more from choice than necessity. Alberta made us feel very welcome, even down to the email she sent at the time of our booking, which gave good travel information and directions to the hotel. When we were there, she was very helpful in giving us maps and bus routes, recommending good restaurants, telephoning to check opening times, etc. The hotel actually looks better in real life, I thought, than it does in the photographs on Venere. Our room was lovely, modern, bright and spacious (particularly for a city-centre, low-mid budget hotel), and the fittings and linen were of good quality. The bed was huge and firm, as other reviewers have mentioned. Breakfast (brought to the bedroom, which we liked) consisted of coffee, red orange juice, and a variety of spreads (jams and cheese), bread rolls, croissants and other things in packets that we didn't investigate - all in all, plenty of choice and enough to keep you going. The bathroom, like the rest of the hotel, was clean, with a good, hot shower and a bidet. Having stayed in many hotels and guesthouses around Europe, we were particularly impressed by the standards of the Paba and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

The description on the website was very near what we found when we arrived. We asked for a location close to the center of Rome in a small comfortable hotel. We received the best in all we asked. Nothing extravagant, but a large room with bathroom, clean, well kept, and a great lady as the host. She gave us excellent directions to places to eat as well as sites to see. Highly recommend to others that want an economical place to stay and immerse yourself in the Rome cultures.

We parked at the train station and used a taxi to get there (less than 10 euros). We cannot say enough about the lady who owns/runs this little hotel. She was totally wonderful. The forum is down the street, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. I can't think of a better price/value in Rome, so convenient to everything. The beds are enormous! She brings breakfast (coffee, tea and packaged rolls) to your room every morning. Street noise is noticeable but not objectionable, and the air conditioner works great. I highly recommend this hotel. The parking fee was over 80 euros for 3 days, so you may want to investigate a cheaper place to park.

We stood at the 'Paba' for two nights and found everything exactly as described on these pages! We had a very warm and friendly welcome, with Pina explaining us immediately on a map where we could find all the important sights. The room was not too spacious but absolutely okay, like the bathroom. Everything was very clean. As I had wished, we had a room to the backyard which was very calm. We received breakfast in the room which consisted of Nescafé-Cappucino and 'dolce' + buscuits in plastic and juice. Not excellent but absolutely okay and very typical Italian! As we stood there when the Pope was dying we found it also very convenient that our TV had BBC World so that we could understand the reports. I loved especially the wooden lift which seemed rather antiquaric but worked fine. Leaving the hotel meant standing in the midst of pulsating Rome and turning left you reach the Forum Romanum + Colosseum after a 4-5 minutes walk. We walked everywhere, even at nights and this made my stay at the 'Paba' to a very special event: experience Rome from its heart!!! Would always go there again!!!!

Visited Rome staying 3 nights in Hotel Paba at the start of February. Foung all the other reviews of this small but excellent hotel spot on. Really enjoyed our stay in the spacious room with excellent service and facilities. We had breakfast in our room each morning and not across the street. If you are looking for reasonably priced hotel accommodation where the rooms are spotless and generally larger than comparable hotels and which is in a safe location literally a walk from all the sights then this is the hotel for you. In our three days from hotel Paba we walked everywhere, Colosseum(around the corner) Roman Forum/ 5 mins., Pantheon/Piazza Narvona 15 mins., Trevi Fountain/Spanish Steps/Circus Maximus 20 mins and all the sights/churches/monuments in between. We even strolled to St. Peters Basilica/Sistine Chapel in 25 mins along the Tiber. Plenty of excellent restaurants nearby but we found the best were away from the monuments and where the Romans themselves eat. All in all a wonderful stay in historic Rome made all the more memorable because of the excellent Hotel Paba. Would stay there again next time.

Had a wonderful stay at hotel Paba. The lady on the desk when we arrived was very helpful. She was able to provided us with tourist info throughout our stay. The room was very clean and had TV, radio, air-conditioning, ensuite bathroom with shower (no bath), mini-bar (reasonably priced) and double glazed window overlooking small courtyard (cannot remember name of the room but it had a nautical theme, with interesting photos of yachts on the wall). The door to our room was right off where the small reception is, which made it a bit noisey if you wanted a lie in in the morning, but not really a problem. The hotel now provides breakfast on the premises - you help yourself from a cupboard by reception where there is also a coffee/hot chocolate/hot water machine, then take it back to your room on a tray, where a bottle of fruit juice from the minibar is also included in your room price. This seemed a good arrangement although we never actually ate breakfast in the hotel, just the fruit juice. The location of the hotel was perfect - just 5 minutes from the Colusseum and easy (if you think trying to cross the road in Rome is easy!) walking distance of the sights. The open top tour buses pass near by and make a great way to travel between the sights. It is also a short walk to the Metro station. There are restaurants and small cafes very near by. We had an excellent stay with the hotel Paba and would definately recommend them to others. Quality and location at a fair price.

The hotel was in a very convenient position. Our room was small but very clean and so was the bathroom. The main problem was breakfast. I had understood it was taken at a cafe across the road but it turned out to be a 'picnic' style breakfast taken in the bedroom which included instant coffee from a machine and pre-packed croissant. We would have much preferred no breakfast and a cheaper rate. Otherwise the hotel was very satisfactory for our needs.

A good deal. Location, a spacious and clean room, and kind staff offered me a comforable stay in Rome. You can stop searching now, this accommodation is delightful! Straight away we were very impressed with the location (a stone's throw from the Roman Forum), although as it is a small establishment you may miss it intially (we did!) The room and bathroom were both extremely spacious and appeared to have been recently refurbished as everything seemed very pristine, and certainly clean. The lady who dealt with us at all times (she works very hard!) could not have been more helpful or courteous. And of course Rome was breathtaking just to top it all off! Enjoy....

Very small hotel with 8 rooms on the 2nd floor of a mixed block. Ideally located for seeing Rome. Only downside was that breakfast was an orange juice placed in your fridge each night and a voucher for coffee and croissant at a place over the road. Fine if like the Italians you don't mind standing up for breakfast, not so good if you want to start the day leisurely before the sightseeing begins!! Think they need to consider having a voucher arrangement at another of the many cafes on Via Cavour.

My wife and I stayed for three nights in late April, before the main rush of tourists, and found the hotel to be quiet, accomodating and exactly what we were after. The only slight difficulty was actually locating it, but that was more down to us than the the map, as the entrance is shared by several other businesses (including another hotel). The hotel name is clearly displayed by the main door, and the hotel itself is on the 2nd floor. As for the facilities, the en-suite was spotless, the rooms were comfortable, and the hotel staff were very helpful. Breakfast is taken at a cafe over the road, which is a great way to experience Rome for the first time, as it forces you into the 'real world' straight away. And you can get a cup of tea! The hotel is five minutes walk from the Colloseum and the Forum, and about 3/4 hour by foot from the Vatican, and is also near a metro stop, so is ideal for sightseeing. Altogether, we would definately recommend Hotel Paba, and would certainly stay there again.

My wife and I really enjoyed the Paba. It is small (7 rooms total) but quaint and very close to ancient Rome (the Forum and the Coliseum). The innkeeper was wonderful--very sweet and helpful. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well maintained, particularly for the cost of the stay. The breakfast is across the street in a small cafe--a croissant and coffee while standing at the bar. Would definitely recommend to others and return to. Only slight downside is that breakfast although included, is taken in a bar across the road from the hotel - where you may or may not get a seat.

We decided to stay at the Hotel PABA based on other comments and I must say that the comments were spot-on. Ms. Castelli is a warm and competent host who answered all of our questions and helped us with bookings and the other necessities of visiting a city. Our room was very generous in size and immaculately clean. Breakfast was provided across the street at a pasticceria and as excellent. In general, we had excellent accommodations and will probably stay on our next return to Rome.

Owner was extremely helpful. Rooms were fine and spacious. Location excellent. Plumbing adequate but a bit quirky due to age (as expected).

Hotel Paba is located in the very best part of historic Rome with great access to bus, rail and within walking of many major sites. It is a quaint, non-American, facility that makes a visit to Rome a better experience without losing comfort. The hotel is secure, clean and the service provided is excellent. The very best part is the hotel owner who is a lovely women, able to answer every question, provide directions, make suggestions and arrange for transportation, tickets to events and directions to wonderful little restaurants, in summery, to offer excellent service without interferring with prior plans or preferences. We have stayed at this hotel on previous occasions and expect that all of our future trips to Rome will include a visit to the Paba Hotel.

Wonderful location close to many classic sites. Room was lofty and spacious and we really enjoyed going to the cafe across the street for breakfast. Alberta was very welcoming and friendly and extremely helpfu. The only complaints we had were: there was NO kettle in the room, contrary to the website; the bed was very firm to the point of discomfort. There are several reasonable and exciting restaurants in the immediate vicinity

We are two families (1 child and two children)and all of us were completly satisfied. We booked the "Quadruple" and the "Triple room", which lie next door to door in an own small hall. The rooms are renovated, no carpets but wooden floors (!), very excellent shower, new mattresses. The landlady is very competent and helpfull. The hotel is very near to the ancient rome area and the Colloseum. Breakfast has to be taken in a coffeshop, which was a very special experience, and we liked it very much. We can really recommend this hotel.

We will definitely be recommending Paba to everyone we know planning a trip to Rome. The hotel is in a perfect location for the sights of Rome and some great restaurants. It's brilliant value for money and i would certainly give them more then two stars - they would be higher if they had their own restaurant, but crossing the street for breakfast was never difficult. We will definitely return to Paba.

Note: Hotel is on the 2nd floor, take the elevator up. Not very apparent when you enter the building. Originally, I would have written up the Paba hotel as excellent in all aspects except on my last night some business on the lower floor started to clean crockery at 3am in the morning and seemed to be dropping most of the plates. Luckily I had earplugs! A wonderful location. Close to the Rome Termini Station and 5 minutes from the Collesium. Beautiful large clean rooms and a wonderful hostess! Truely a pleasant stay.

For our first introduction to accommadations in Rome, this was excellent. The hotel manager was exceptional. She had "all" the answers and delivered with such patience. The location of the hotel was suberb-could easily walk or take a quick bus ride to most of the sites of interest. I would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to others. It was a bit on the pricey side for Canadians (considering the exchange rate)but for those travelling to Italy the price of accomadations are high overall. In Canada for $208 one could get a very beautiful hotel room with all the amenities. Oh well such is life!!!

We picked Hotel Paba after reading through a bunch of reviews. Some of the reviews for Paba said that it was hard to locate. Prior to leaving for Italy I emailed the hotel for directions and had no trouble finding the hotel. Alberta was very prompt in emailing directions, setting up the room we desired, and recommending restaraunts in the area. Highlights included: The hotel is in the shadow of the colisseum and Palatine Hill. Very clean and spacious. Very friendly staff that was willing to assist in any manner.

We stayed at Paba for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel offers great value for money and if you take the location (100 metres from the forum) into account it is just excellent. Even better was the extremely helpful owner who did not just offered a very warm welcome but also proved invaluable when it came to recommendations for restaurants. Our room was to the back and perfectly quiet. We would very much recommend Paba and hope to stay there again.

This hotel was perfect for our vacation. The location is unbeatable! 2 blocks from the Forum and the Colisseum. Alberta was a wonderful host and very helpful. Our room was immaculate. Though smallish, it was perfect for our needs. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, and plan to stay here on our next visit to Rome.

Owner was delightful and most helpful. We were looking for clean, safe, convenient rooms at the two-star level and the value was outstanding. Would stay there again apart from just wanting to be in another area of Rome. We weren't in Rome to spend lots of time IN our hotel, so the Paba was just perfect for our needs. Close to the Metro, very good, inexpensive restaurant just across the street, not too far from Termini.

Fabulous! Very central location close to the Colosseum with extremely helpful and friendly English-fluent staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Breakfast was served in our room. Accomodations were more on the 3-star side, very clean and comfortable with all the comforts of home. Has an elevator. Would highly recommend to family and friends. Will definitely stay here again.

Staff - excellent, very helpful, best we encountered on our trip. Hotel premises - some issues: Location - not well identified by web site (our cab driver from Termini had a little difficulty finding it). Also, no direction at external door to street that the actual entrance to the hotel was at least 3 flights of stairs up - this could impact anyone with health issues. Listing of elevator was misleading (it was so small it could only carry 1 person and some luggage and you still had to go up steps to reach it in the first place - not great if someone has any physical limitations). Hotel foyer is very small and corridors to rooms very narrow and awkward/difficult to navigate with large cases. Room & bathroom were adequate though a bit small for 3 people. It was clean, however, the beds were really uncomfortable (way too hard). We also had a real problem with sleeping due to the noise from the street (one of the restaurants below appeared to be hosting an all night party with people yelling and screaming until about 5:00am). Appreciated having airconditioning. Would we return - possibly yes - depending on health concerns and length of stay.

We had a most enjoyable stay at Hotel Paba. The staff were friendly and spoke good English, which was not a prerequisite for us, but was definitely a bonus. The location is superb and there is a Metro stop nearby, perfect for seeing the various sights around the city. Being so small the Hotel has a "home away from home" feel to it. There is a delightful old wooden lift (max. 3 people) which has been restored and was a treat after our long treks around the city. It is worth noting that the Hotel is on the second floor so I would not recommend it to people with physical disabilities. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, although not large (we Kiwis must have larger appetites than most!). We felt we had good value for our money and will definitely stay at Hotel Paba on our next visit to Roma. Since our visit we have recommended the hotel to several of our friends. Please note - the "poor" rating for type and number of rooms available is only due to this information not being included on the website. I do not wish this to refelect badly on Hotel Paba or Venere.com, who have both provided excellent services.
