Hotel Navona - Rome

I picked this hotel for its location, which is ideal for visiting the sights and experiencing night life. The hotel itself way exceeded my expectations based on its website and other reviews. My room was beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. For example, they allowed us an extra bed in our quadruple room to accommodate our family of five (and the room was spacious enough to make that possible!). Mike (Michele) was especially friendly and helpful, answering our many questions and assisting us with a local phone call. The public area of this hotel is small but very attractive. Your reach this hotel by walking up a flight of stairs. Even though it is very near lots of restaurants and cafes, it is located on a quiet back street, so there is no street noise. The breakfast was basic but good. I will definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Rome.

The hotel should not advertise that air conditioning is available in the rooms if they will not turn it on until after a specific date. It was warm while we were there (May 9th and 10th), and I expected to be able to cool off in my air conditioned room. We were hot all night as it was way too noisy to sleep with the windows open. Also, we stayed in a quadruple room, which is usually a double bed and two singles. This room had two singles plus two other singles made separately but set close to each other on a double bed base. My wife and I do not live in a 60s sitcom! Also, since internet access isn't available in the rooms, their public area needs to be larger. We ended up returning to Milan at the end of the second day, rather than spend another night at the hotel.

There is a big gap between the impression the picture given by the homepage and the reality. The rooms are much smaller and less comfortable than they look on the net. You also don´t see the thick dust on the wardrobe of the first room the stuff dared to offer me. (This very dark room does not appear in the gallery.) In the second room I was offered was still a disgusting dirty towel . When I asked the arrogant guy at the reception for a clean one I was treated like a malcontent. I had to pay 160 Euros per night - an impudence!

Rooms were nice with limited storage. Wonderful showers. breakfast was adequate.

My husband and two 11 year old daughters stayed at this property in Rome. It's about a 60 euro trip from the airport (FCO), along the way you see a lot of Roma. The location is great, walking distance from anything you'd like to see. Everything! A stair climb is required. They had our room ready, it was clean...and of course very old. Not posh. Pretty simple. The woman at the desk is very busy, speaks English. Wi-fi only works from the lobby, probably because of the very ancient thick walls. A simple breakfast off coffee and pastries. They were all very nice to us. We would stay there again.
