The hotel Montreal is centrally located in Rome, in the heart of the Esquilino area, a few steps away the splendid Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, the Santa Prassede and Santa Pudenziana churches, authentic art treasures and fabulous examples of sacred art in Europe.
Furthermore, the Roman archaeological sites of the Diocletian Thermal Baths, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, can be easily reached. The area is full of restaurants, bars, and pubs; bus and underground stations are also nearby.
The property is housed in a typical building from the King Umberto era. Recently restructured, the hotel features a delightful atmosphere and offers modern facilities such as a bar, an ADSL Internet Point and a nice terrace.
A 24-hour reception is always at your disposal and the staff will be pleased to provide you with all the necessary information on Rome and its surroundings.

It was just my husband and me and we have stayed here before, because we like the close location to the train station. The staff is not all that friendly for Italy, but the rooms are always clean and comfortable, however, small and dark. The breakfast is passable for that price range room.

Hotel Montreal is three blocks away from Termini Station, which was highly convenient for us. If you get in at night, it may seem a bit intimidating though - make sure you don't get ripped off by the taxi drivers and go for a 15 euro cab ride from Termini!! Pasquale was extremely friendly and informative. He can tell you lots of interesting facts about Rome and himself! The hotel was within walking distance of all the prime sites, just make sure you bring good walking shoes. The bathrooms were clean and recently refurbished, which was very important for us. We definitely recommend this hotel to bargain hunters. Thanks for a great stay!

Hotel Montreal was a great hotel. We were looking for a hotel reasonably close to Termini Station, yet far enough way to feel safe & comfortable. This hotel met every expectation as far as that requirement went. Staff were very friendly & accommodating to our needs, and spoke very good English, which made our stay very relaxed. There's a great cafe down on the corner (although expensive, but that seems to be the pattern in Europe!!), and both Termini & metro are close by in order to visit other areas of Rome. The only downfall I would say, is that I suffer from mould/dust allergies, and as the hotel is on the older side, there seems to be a little of that within the bathrooms particularly, which gave me a little grief, however it was certainly not visible, it upheld a very clean appearance. I would definitely recommend Hotel Montreal.

We spent 5 days here in Jan/Feb. The area is very slightly more run-down than it was in our last visit 5 years ago. It is near Terminii station and the Metro. It is possible to walk to most places of interest if you plan ahead. The staff is friendly, helpful and they speak good English. Breakfast is continental, with a choice of two cereals. We would stay here again.

There were three of us in two rooms. The double was very good. There was a little trouble with the portable air-conditioner in the single room, but it was handled well by the staff.

Great location a few blocks from Rome Termini, 15 minute walking distance to Colosseum and Forum. Great local restaurants and shops. Mixed use building with some offices inside.

Staff were excellent, particularly Pasquale. Very convenient for main railway station, buses and taxis, but most of the attractions were within reasonable walking distance. Plenty of bars and cafes near the hotel if you don't want to go too far after a hard day sight-seeing. The traffic was a bit noisy in the morning as we were at the front of the hotel but not unreasonably so given that this is a city centre location. The only slight criticism would be of the breakfast (only cereal and bread, coffee not good) but this would in no way stop us from staying at this hotel again, our overall experience was excellent.

Overnight in transit to town outside Rome. Access from Termini Station is quick (approx. 10mins) and easy. Location is good also for sightseeing (Sta Ma Maggiore, Fori, Piazza Venezia, etc.). As in any downtown (Rome) hotel you cannot expect quietness. Room was (even for Roman standards) tiny with no space to put suitcase (albeit only one person); shower stall not suitable for "heavy" travelers; location of toilet bowl in such way that using it require some physical abilities.(Continental) Breakfast is OK.

Good location, near the train station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room faced the street, but it was not noisy. The air conditioning worked well. The room and bathroom were very clean, but both were very small. This was not a problem for us because we only stayed there one night on our way out of town.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would certainly recomment it to everyone travelling to Rome. It's near the train station and still quiet. Many good restaurants nearby. Also many parks to sit and relax. Near many points of interest. Very good service, very neat and safe place.

The hotel Montreal is very well situated for visitors to Rome. It has a tube station within 150 yards, which gives easy access to all areas of Rome, but is also within easy walking distance of the main coach and train station. We visited in March and found the accommodation was immaculately clean, warm, comfortable and quiet making it ideal for a family break. I have recommended it as a base to friends planning to visit Rome in the future.

Room spacious, clean and sunny.Front room south facing.Sound level low but we were there at the end of Feb 05.Location very handy,5-10minutes walk to railway and bus station.Ideal for budget airline coach to airport.Nearest Metro 2 minutes on same street.Santa Maria Maggiore bascilica a block away.I enjoy my breakfast esp. good cuppucino and crusty bread.Clean towels, shampoo and soap daily but no coffee/tea making facility in room but that's fine,as shops coffee are certainly great in Rome. I would certainly go back again.

The only disappointment was in the continental breakfast. Pre-packaged croissants and other pre-packaged cakes are awful and should never be used, especially when very good bakeries are within 100 metres of the front door. For a few pennies per person that could be significantly improved.

We thought that this hotel was the best value for our buck throughout our European holiday. It was decorated beautifully, amenities were excellent and breakfast included. The location was perfect for catching the train to the airport. If only we had realized this apon arrival, we would have saved on cab fare and caught the train from the airport also. Walking distance also to many great tourist spots but not too many good restaurants nearby unfortunately.

This was our first stop in Italy, and it spoiled us for some of the subsequent stays in various hotels. The location was perfect. Derrick (front desk) was extremely helpful, the rooms were quiet (newer double-pane windows and ac) and the bath very spacious in "Italian" terms. Security was good, it was an easy walk to many sights on our itinerary, and public transportation readily accessible.

The hotel was adequate. Two problems: 1. The drain in the shower did not work all that well; I had to stop a bit to make sure it did not overflow. 2. The breakfast was very, very poor. It seems unconscionable to serve pre-packaged (i.e., not fresh) bread products in Rome!

Staff was helpful, professional, patient and English-speaking. Room was well maintained and decent size. Continental breakfast was excellent and coffee was exceptional. Walls seemed to be paper thin so all noises from the hall and stairs reverberated in the room. Fortunately there isn't much activity between 11PM and 6:30AM so a good night's sleep was possible. Location is pretty good and only a five-minute walk to the nearest Metro. I would stay there again.

The people at the hotel were as nice as any I've run into. I was sick while I was there and if I didn't go down to breakfast, they sent it up without being asked. Every afternoon some one called to see if I needed any thing. They could'nt have been nicer. A-1

I would recommend this. The rooms were small but nicely done, except no towel racks in the bathroom. It was a great to have the safe, tv and frig. The neighborhood was fine once you got past the street vendors. It was walking distance to the train station.

This was the second time we had stayed at Montreal which speaks for itself. We found it a pleasant location with good access to all parts of Rome, local restaurants and the Train Station (Termini). The staff was particularly helpful when one of our party had limited mobility.
