Although up a slightly steep hill, the location was just a short walk from Piazza Barberini and the Metro line. There are loads of place to eat or sit and watch the world go by at Barberine but check out the prices first as you may get a shock. Hotel Modigliani was really lovely and the dtaff were fantastic. We would have liked a kettle in the room for tea, but otherwise everything was great.

I only needed a hotel for an afternoon and a night before flying out early the next morning. I chose Modigliani because it of its location near a metro station, for some specific sightseeing in the afternoon. It turned out to be a little gem. The location is great. The delightful room maid made sure that I knew how to work the airconditioning, etc. And how nice is that heated towel rail in the bathroom, with the big shower? I had a quick dinner (lasagne) and it was very nice. I paid my night's accommodation on arrival, and asked if I could put my dinner and my transfer to the airport the next morning on my bill. I was told yes, but the next morning, I was informed that I would have to pay the driver himself. I had the money but it might have been inconvenient if I didn't. I would recommend this hotel

Excellent location on a quaint, quiet street a short walk from the Spanish Steps. Our room was a reasonable size for central Rome, very well maintained and with a nice-sized bathroom. Staff all seem to speak good English and are helpful and friendly. Free wireless available in the lounge, but not in the rooms. Nice breakfast buffet with pastries, salami, cheese, juice, coffee. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Rome.

Lovely family owned hotel in quiet street just off the Piazza Barberini.Staff were friendly and welcoming and most helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance of many of the attractions. The rooms, although smallish, were spotlessly clean and the wi-fi access in the foyer and lounge was good.Breakfast was well presented and more than filling for the day's touring ahead.Would visit again.

The walls are pretty thin, so if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs and don't take a room next to the stairwell. That was my only disappointment. The breakfast is excellent, fresh baked goods, lots of choices. The bathroom heater was on 24/7 - wonderful for the chilly winter - and hot water as soon as you open the tap. Best of all, the staff are all knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. I would definitely return.

Enjoyed my 3 night stay at the Modigliani very much. Lovely atmosphere in the sitting room and garden. Staff were very courteous and helpful and room very comfortable. Only issue I had was being able to hear voices loud and clear from adjoining room, walls were solid so can only assume sound carried through aircon vent. Anyway when I knocked on the door and explained this to the adjoining guests they were most obliging so not a problem in the end. Had 2 very enjoyable meals at the restaurant a few metres down the street although I can't recall the actual name.

Hotel Modigliani was the perfect place to stay for our week long trip to Rome. The hotel is located off a quiet street next to Barberini Plaza and the Metro line which can get you anywhere you need to go in Rome for 1 Euro each way. The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon are only a short walk away. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations on where to eat and places to see. I would highly recommend Hotel Modigliani to anyone who is looking for a small cozy hotel in Rome off the main roads that offers great customer service. Also, the large showers in the bathroom were a plus!

The room was far more basic that we thought. However, we only needed a place to sleep as we were leaving early the next morning so it was fine. The staff was wonderful!

The only thing that was challenging for us was laundry. We did laundry in the bathroom and it took forever to dry. In other hotels, the heated towelracks took care of the drying overnight.

We enjoyed our stay, we were a group of 15 people over for a wedding and the staff were very friendly and helpfull all with good english. The location could prove difficult for older persons who have difficulty walking as it uphill on a cobbled street.

Rome has become an increasing challenge as prices continue to go up---and the dollar continues to decline. As a result, many American tourists (e.g. me) have been pushed down scale. The Modigliani is a pretty good compromise understanding all that. The location just off the Piazza Barberini and Via Veneto make it very well located. The rooms are standard Euro small but adequate. Given the price and location it represents a pretty good compromise.

It was very clean, and most employees were kind and pleasant, too. Coming out of the hot water was very good though no do be known whether washing was serious when it was a difficult point, and a man with a good physique that shower room was narrow. Moreover, when going to Rome, I want to use it.

We really liked this hotel. The room and common spaces were decorated quite luxuriously and the room definitely of a decent size. Everything was spotlessly clean, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful (reservations, taxis, directions, recommendations, etc.) The air conditioning was a blessing as it was over 90 degrees the three days we were there. Breakfast was not fantastic but certainly adequate and they made espresso coffee upon request. There was a sense of fun about the place, from the unusual portrait of the owners, Giulia and Marco, on the hallway wall to the tongue in cheek list of hotel rules which included "don't shout in the heart of the night" and "don't run away without to pay." The location was excellent; just steps away from Piazza Barberini, easy walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, not far from Villa Borghese; lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The entrance is off a small, alley like street, not too impressive but once inside, you are in a stylish and welcoming place. We would definitely stay here again.

This was the first hotel we stayed in Italy and it met all of our expextations. The staff were very nice, the rooms while small and plain were very functional. The hotel is situated on a small side street which lacks atmosphere but is convenient. Overall we were very satisfied. particularly given the price. The hotel sits at the top of a hill and older coup[les may find the climb a little taxing.

I would highly recommend Hotel Modigliani. We stayed for three nights in Rome and enjoyed the convenient location of the hotel -- walking distance to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Panthenon, metro and numerous restaurants. The staff, especially Valerie, was friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast and delicious cappuccino. On two occasions we enjoyed a glass of wine on the beatuiful outside patio.

Wonderful location, close to Spanish Steps, Via Veneto, buses, metro. Small but stylish rooms. Modern bathrooms. Exceptionally clean. Beautiful inner courtyard, lovely place to unwind after long day of sightseeing. Included breadfast offered more than enough choices, was delicious. Staff was helpful, friendly. Would recommend to friends and would stay there again.

This was our first time in Rome, and we found it a bit hard to find the hotel the first time--the road looks like a lane, not a front street. Our room (402) was small but adequate, and had a nice balcony fronting on the courtyard which was very quiet. (We've heard that all Rome hotel rooms are small). We saw that 401 had a larger room and shower, but no balcony. It is an easy walk to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountain and there are lots of shops and restaurants within a few blocks. We chose it because of it's location near a metro stop (2 blocks away) and we found this convenient to get to the Colleseum and the Vatican and to transfer to the Termini train station. This saved us alot of money on taxis; however, I would recommend you travel light if you plan to do the same.

We stayed in Rome for 3 days. The hotel was extremely welcoming and helpful. we took their advice on some restaurants, and both were excellent. The rooms were lovely ans spacious and the atmosphere very relaxed. The hotel was centrally situated ans we practically walked everywhere but when tired the metro line was just at the end of the street. I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Rome.

The location of this hotel was very good ,within walking distance of many of Rome's attractions and near a Metro station, restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean and well looked after. Our room was very small, not enough room for suitcases and a place to stand at the same time! I would request one of the larger rooms upstairs if I were to return.

We stayed in a double standard on the back of the hotel. It was quiet, but the room/bathroom were very small (but I think this is normal for Rome). The breakfast was good, the rooms were nice and very clean. Locaiton was good. They didn't seem to have any bellman service - we had to carry our own bags from the taxi into the hotel and up to the room ourselves. If I stayed again, I would upgrade to a larger room.

The Hotel was easy to find and exactly where we expected from maps. Loads of good restuarants nearby. Walking distance of Trevi/Steps/Metro. The owner made himself known and was extremely nice and helpful. Some staff were more helpful than others. Because decor was minimalist, lots of hard surfaces and not much soft furnishing, noise travelled easily between rooms/floors. Biggest downside was no courtesy tray in room for a hot drink, we understand this is usual in Italy. Suggest to anyone going that you take travel kettle, teabags etc., Seemed expensive compared to some UK standards but average for City Centre accommodation when not part of package deal.
