I asked the staff to order a taxi to take me to the airport. I was VERY clear that I wanted an "Official" taxi. I had to pay the desk in advance. The next morning the taxi was late AND it was NOT an "Official" taxi. I was warned many times not to take any taxi except for the official brand. Mirage staff lied to me and put me in what I feel was an unsafe situation. They wouldn't give me my money back so I would have to pay another E50 to get another taxi. So BEWARE, order your own taxi!!!!!

Had a double room with bathroom. TV,hairdryer, clean towels everyday. Floor should have been swept everyday as it was a tiled floor and our hair was still on the floor in the bathroom & bedroom. We had a back room.First night was Maundy Thursday .Lots of screaming ,laughing and crying going on.Good Friday night very quiet but all kicked off again on the Saturday night. We met other holiday makers at breakfast but no one very friendly .We were all different nationalities. Not enough doughnuts at breakfast if you were too late!Took a yogurt out of the fridge got reprimanded for opening the fridge as there were warm ones out on the table! If you want a basic cheap no frills hotel with a decent breakfast its good. We used the hotel to sleep & wash in.There is so much to do in Rome you dont need anything else.Fridge in room is good to store drinks and fruit to take out with you during the day.

The hotel was very central - close to Termini and to buses to airports. The staff were very friendly and obliging. Rooms were spotlessly clean and airconditioned. Breakfast was included in price and was excellent. Could not fault this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

The staff was very welcoming but they hardly spoke English. First they tried to put us into a different building about 400meters from the hotel, we refused and were given an incredibly tiny and narrow room. The airconditioning was very noisy and unpleasant, the view from the window - horrible. The breakfast was fine and the best part of the hotel is its location - right next to Termini station.

I usually stay at Hotel Mirage when transiting through Rome and this is the first time that I have been disappointed. Usually, the rooms are nice and cool during the summer, but our air conditioning just circulated warm air. On top of that, the staff were sympathetic but did not do much to resolve the problem; they could've at least offered a fan. After this experience, I'm not sure if I'll return to this hotel. To say something positive, they now have unlimited wifi though it didn't work in our room after the first day. You can't beat the price if you get a room with working air conditioning, and the location is hard to beat if transiting with family. Nearby, you can eat at San Lorenzo (about a 10 minute walk) or you can go to two nearby restaurants that have good food if you don't feel like walking.

We ordered 2 double twin rooms if possible but one of the rooms we were supplied with was much superior to the other, with plenty of space and a good view of the steet, while the other was small dark and with a view onto the inside well of the building with a view of nothing at all except walls with closed windows, which kind of spoiled things a bit. We thought that we had booked in plenty of time to have rooms close to each other and more importantly of a similar quality.

This hotel was right across the street from the train station which made it so much easier traveling with rolling luggage. The room was clean and servicable. However, just as with most old hotels in Europe, it smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The lighting by the bed was not conducive for reading in bed. Fortunately I had a booklight with me. Had I not been prepared I would have been unhappy with the room because it is my habit to read before I go to sleep. The light on my husbands side of the bed did not work at all. The desk manager was helpful with getting the tv to work but CNN or any other English speaking station was not available on their cable. Therefore having a TV in the room was worthless. The desk manager was not able to fix the broken light during our stay so he gave us some free time on the internet located in the small lobby. They did try to provide good customer service.

We were entirely pleased with the accomodations at Mirage Hotel. As we checked into the hotel, the welcome by Gracia was warm and friendly. We appreciated having an elevator to the 4th floor the b'fast was truly excellent. It was a bonus to have the first 30 min of wifi free. The location of the hotel is so convenient if you're traveling by train or bus... or coming from the airport by the Leonardo Express. We would highly recommend your hotel to anyone going to Rome. :) One commnent for your consideration: The directions we rec'd from the initial corrrespondence seemed easy enough. However, we wandered around for an hour looking for the hotel. The directions said to take the Via Marsala exit from the train staion which we did... then it said turn right onto Via Milazzo. It would be clearer to say that the hotel is on the opposite side of the road named Via Marsala, on the corner as it intersects with Via Milazzo. As you exit the train station onto Via Marsala you are very close to the hotel and just have to walk across the street! There is a vertical sign for the hotel visible at the corner where those streets intersect just across from the train station. Look for that sign! We would recommend the small, welcoming, more informal restaurant just around the corner from the hotel located on Via Marsala. They offered slices of pizza, pasta of a wide variety, fish, chicken, salads with loads of mozzarella, gelato and the staff were super friendly. They have tables set up on the sidewalk outside or tables inside the restaurant. Everything we ate was delicious and affordable. Try it! Grazie for your warm Italian hospitality. Sincerely, J Jacks

the first nights we had a quadruple room and it was nice, except for the fact that Rome was burning in flames due to the increasing heat and the AC was broken. the rest of the nights we had a smaller triple bed room, and it sucked, the toilet, the shower and the sink had problems and the water didnt flush, it got stucked all the time, we sent the report to the lobby and we were told it was going to be fixed by noon and no one showed up, it was kind of disgusting.

It is very important for me to have light and a view out the window of the room I'm staying in. I looked out onto a scruffy road/yard in this hotel. The staff were friendly enough but the shower or the hairdryer didn't work properly. The window's were small and at floor level. You had to bend down to see out them. But it was very cheap so I was impressed with what I got for the price.

We were three and had booked a triple in Hotel Mirage midweek. When we arrived we were offered a very small, stuffy room overlooking the main road and Termini station (and so certain to be noisy) in the sister hotel. The alternative was a much larger room on the side street that was yet to be completely decorated, lacking light fittings, in Hotel Mirage. We chose the latter and were quite content. It was spacious, had comfortable beds, and was spic and span including in the bathroom, having been newly fitted out. Noise was quite bearable with the window open. The location couldn't be bettered; metres to Termini. The staff were attentive. Breakfast was simple but completely satisfactory. We highly recommend Hotel Mirage. We suggest you insist on a room in this and not their sister hotel if comfort and quiet are important.

my sister and I stayed here just last year and we must have got the only room that was clean and looked somewhat like the glossy brochure that the front desk has...now the rooms are dingy, lights falling off the wall exposing electrical wires, towel racks about to fall onto you in the WC, bed spreads that look straight out of the Salvation Army reject bag! NO CREDIT CARDS taken yet they specifically sent me a direct email saying they would be checking on my credit card before my arrival..they keep saying that the machine is out of order (it wasn't even plugged in).... too many staff, no one seems accountable and they say its managements decisions on why credit cards not taken...DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

Quote price in reservation not honoured by hotel as they stated that they did not have a single and therefore would provide a double at a double price. Hotel advertised to have air conditioning however was turned off and when asked to turn it on did not follow up as promised. Hotel was not the Mirage but another hotel on the 5th floor (with no elevator) with room facing a square squalid alcove of other buildings. TV did not work and no remote provided. Very disappointed with the property given the 100e price per night.

We stayed here one night and chose the hotel given its proximity to the train station. the location to the train station was the only upside to this hotel. The room was filthy. There were foot prints on the walls and the bathroom smelled like mold. AC did not work and given it was August we had to leave the windows open to get some air. Due to the windows being opened we could clearly hear the homeless people screaming for several hours during the night (i.e. 2400 - 0300 or so). The hotel would not allow me to pay for one room with a credit card even though they accept them and i had to pay put both rooms (i.e. mine and my wifes and our friends) on the credit card - apparently there is a minimum charge which is no advertised. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. We paid EUR 65 per room, which is a good rate for Rome but given the neighborhood (which was very shady) and the condition of the hotel, I would have preferred to pay another 20 Euros for a decent place. I will never stay there again.

I only stayed a night, as I was travelling through Rome, so it is hard to judge. However, the experience was pleasant and the staff friendly. The Hotel is located right next to to the Termini train station. Thus, it is ideal for anyone travelling and for Rome, which can be expensive, the rooms are fairly priced. Communication with the Hotel was excellent, despite my lack of working Italian. Certainly if I found myself in similar circumstances I would reserve again.

Rooms are very clean and spacious. It is excelently located, one block from the train and bus station. the hotel from hell the worst experience...our room overlooked the train station, bums, tour busses, police activity all hours, a/c didn't work and couldn't open a window due to the moths attracted to the lights of the train station. lift was constantly hung-up, being on the upper floor and a industrial laundry below us and tourists leaving the door open.hotel changed our room to overlook a side street with only ten bums living there. go to the other side of the train station cafes, and less traffic. dennis, jack, bob

the staff at reception made it clear that they would prefer cash as payment at checkout but they did accept credit card after a small delay. they knew we were going to the airport by train next day from very nearby main Rome train station (cost 11euros per person) and they offered a private taxi for 40 euros .. thought this rather strange..unless there is a strike, the rails do not get congested like Roman roads, so why even bother asking .. unless they thought we had no idea as to the train ticket costs...breakfast was one of the most basic we had on our two weeks in Italy...but for travellers like us on our final day in Italy and arriving by train and leaving by train to airport next day, the location was superb even though late at night one feels a bit uncomfortable with the nightpeople out and about..take care of papers and valuables in this area any time but esp. at night.

As one night's stopover after coming off a flight to Ciampino in the middle of the night before heading off on the train the next day, this hotel is ideally situated, 5 mins from coach stop and almost next door to the station. The room was very clean, slightly small (but then it was a single). The real let down is that the area around the station is not very nice and I wouldn't like to stay in the area for the duration of a holiday but as a stop over it was perfect. The 24hr desk was open and cheerful when I arrived at 3am! Quite expensive.

Ideal location for getting about in Rome. Our room was kept very clean but was located by the stairs/entrance and it got a bit noisey (more so in the mornings when breakfast was being prepared!). The receptionist, Grazia, however was extremely helpful and had alot of very useful information for us every day which helped us make the most of our time in Rome. This hotel is ideal as a base to explore Rome from and being close to the main train station means no hassle when its time to say "Arrivederci Roma"!

We were assured we could use one to pay for the room, but when it was time to pay, the machine was conveniently broken and the receptionist REFUSED to call Master Card and get the amount authorized over the phone. We ended up having to convert 1/3 of our travelers checks into cash to pay for the room. It ruined much of our trip--as we still needed money to eat and travel to two other cities! If we did not have the problems with money and the staff who refused to help us, we would have enjoyed our stay....but our trip was tainted from the beginning because we were robbed of the ability to spend money freely in this beautiful country...we had to watch every dime and therefore viewed the hotel as the culprit. Be leery...it was quite suspicious.

The Mirage needs to have a public area for guests-such as a breakfast room. For the price of the room, a caffe con latte could have been included.

I enjoyed my stay. The facilities were more than adequate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was grand for people who depend upon train for travel. I was extremely satisfied with my experience and would gladly stay there again. Free Internet access was an unexpected bonus!

Difficult to find, map misleading, and address not supplied despite my request. Reception in a building different from the rooms. TV did not work until my last night. Reception staff friendly and anxious to help. Unwilling to accept credit card.

I felt very unsafe in this rather sketchy hotel. First, the manager demanded that our one-night stay be prepaid in cash (when the website and description on Venere stated that major credit cards were accepted). When I asked about this, he gave a weak explanation that there was a "change in management" and that they could no longer accept credit cards (while sitting next to a credit card reader). The inside of the building looks similar to a housing project---rickety elevator, dirty walls, lighting fixtures with exposed wiring. The room and bathroom were clean, but the management only changes towels once every two days. (Another reason I was glad that we were there for only one night.) Stay here only if it's important that you stay near the train station----it's right across the street, which was convenient for us as we needed to take an early train to the airport.

Very convenient for the railway station. It was ideal for me as I had to catch an early morning train. One of the entrances to the station is practically opposite the hotel. The room was clean and spacious but basic. Breakfast consisted of a cup of coffee and a croissant. I would stay here again if I had to use the station, but I would pay a bit more to stay in another hotel closer to the attractions if I was visiting Rome as a tourist. As I was leaving early next day (7.45) I had to pay the previous evening. I asked for a receipt when I handed the money over. I was told I would get one in the morning. I was tired after travelling and accepted that, but should have insisted on one then. As it turned out I did get one in the morning, but they could have said I hadn't paid as I had no proof - something to consider. All in all, I was happy with my short stay.

A basic friendly hotel in ideal location right beside Termini station. Good value for central Rome. On a return visit a few days later we got a much better room in sister hotel - not sure of name ! - and a very friendly welcome back.

This hotel is in a great location if you are coming in from the Termini train station..it is right across the street. After a long and tiring flight from Chicago, the sight of the hotel's sign was a welcome sight for my tired self. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are elegant, clean and spacious. Great value! We would stay there again!

I stayed at the Mirage Hotel twice. It was a little confusing, because I checked in at the Mirage desk, but the room was actually in one of the hotels next door. On my first visit, I stayed in a building with an elevator. However, I was told that I had to pay in cash, rather than by credit card. On my second visit, I stayed in a building without an elevator. On both occasions, the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. The location next to the train station is convenient for travelers who are just spending the night.

Lage des Hotels direkt am Hauptbahnhof ideal. Bei offenem Fenster allerdings sehr laut. Gut dass die Klimaanlage recht gut funktionierte.

This hotel was very good, and the floor that we were on (the 4th.)seemed to have been renovated recently. Breakfast was basic & served in the room. Bathroom & toilet facilities were excellent. Locality(near Station)was seedy but non-threatening. Would stay here again.

We were happily surprised at the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms. The rooms and bathroom were great. Perfect location near the Termini train station and near metro line. Very convenient. Would definitely stay again. Only thing bad is there is no lobby/ lounge area, etc. But that's okay, the room and breakfast served to the room more than made up for it.

The staff of the hotel had a difficult time understanding when I mentioned that the heat was not working - they tried to explain how to operate the heat - I knew how to operate it - it wasn't working - cool nights. Also I used my Diners Club on Venere web site, but when it came time to check out the hotel itself does not accept Diners Club - good thing I had a VISA card with me. Can't believe I was charged 3 Euro for a single danish and one cup of kaffe' for what tthe hotel calls breakfast. Next time I will be staying in 3 or more star hotels; not 1 or 2 star properties.

very loud - breakfast was a 'joke' - really small room and service for this price - too expensive - way to the room very uncomfortable and long - not spent night in ordered hotel, given room in an other hotel next to wished one... - at all very dissatisfied and too much paid, no positif quality/price-harmony and relationship!!!
