The hotel was moderately priced and in an area close enough for public transport, but mercifully away form the hordes of tourists (like us, I admit!) Good location near Termini Station but the staff appear bored. Single rooms were small but immaculate. On the whole, a good choice for the price.

Nice hotel, however it looks a bit tired and needs a bit of a facelift. Carpets on stairs very dirty, courtyard very sad looking. Room was spacious and clean. Close to some excellent restaurants, however our room overlooked a restaurant which was open till late most night and rather noisy.

the quadraple room was by no means quadraple, it had no space at all to move around, not even space to place our luggages. our room was very dirty and so were the public-common use areas of the hotel. the air conditioning did not work in our room for 2 of the 3 days of our stay and did not seem to work in the common areas of the hotel either. the beds were very uncomfortable and the hotel is not so close to the centre. should mention though that the receptionists were very polite and helpful.i would not stay there again.

It was our first time at Hotel Medici. Our staying was very satisfacting and we would recommend this Hotel. Something that has to be improved is the quality of wifi (free, but not working when more guests are connected). Anyway, Medici is a good location, near Central Station Termini, quiet, clean, with efficient staff.

We had a 'quad' room for three nights, a double-bed and two put-ups, which as we are a family with two adolescent boys made it a bit tight, but we were fine. The room was clean, the bathroom well equipped and the air-con was excellent given 40 deg heat! The staff were helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was perfectly adequate. All in all this hotel was terrific value for money given its location 5 mins from Pza Republica and 10 mins walk from Staz Termini. There are several restaurants nearby, including a good Pizzaria/soffrito establishment in Via Piave, and food shops too for sandwiches.

Very good hotel. Staff really kind, sympathetic and efficient. Good & quiet environment and not too far away from the center (buses on via XX novembre). Breakfast was quite good despite what I read from the previous comments. I was quite satisfied with my choice. One precision : there are 2 restaurants in front of the hotel. Just avoid the right one for sea food.

Good location, walking distance from the railroad station; lots of good restaurants close by and a great gelato place around the corner. One staff member was surly, but one (Dario) at the front desk was great, very helpful. The main problem we had was with the WiFi/computer, which did not work at all while we were there. Very frustrating.

Stayed for 1 night. Somehow the 2 of us got a room with 4 single beds which gave us plenty of room to spread out so I don't know the size of a regular room. There was a large marble bathroom but the shower only had a half glass enclosure with no water pressure which left for a very cold shower experience. The room looked out into the street but was very quiet. There were restaurants and small food shops nearby. The hotel was not in a tourist area but was very convenient to public transportation and walkable to the train station, Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain areas. The staff at front desk were very helpful. Breakfast was meager compared to other hotels we have stayed at in the area.

The hotel is not close to the metro(subway)Nice stuff, nice breakfast, but the room and the bathroom were very very small. The carpet was full of stains and becouse of the age and humidity was stinky. When I arrived at home I had to wash all my clothes because of the smell. I have asked a room far away from the elevator and they gave the one next to... noisy when peole were coming back late in the night. Don't take room no 323

We spent our last night of our Italian holiday at the Medici in Rome. It was a wonderful choice and a relaxing way to spend our last night in Italy. From the time we entered the Medici we were treated with warmth and hospitality. The staff was very accommodating and even arranged for a shuttle to take us to the airport in the morning. Our room was spotless, modern and comfortable. There is an internet point for the guests. Plus, there is a small bar and a very cozy sitting area where we enjoyed a glass of wine. The breakfast room was very nice with a wide selection of food to start the day. The location is great and block north of Septembre. We strolled in and out of restaurants, shops and points of interest. Needless to say, our last night in Rome was enjoyable as well as stress free...we slept well.

Maybe its not comparable but I stayed in a 5 star out of this world hotel in america for 115EUR a night and the room was twice the size of the one in the Medici. I think the Medici is typical of most hotels in Rome. Be sure you don't get a room facing the road!

I stayed at the Medici in Sept 2008 with my daughter. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the station (and we were dragging pretty heavy cases) and there were a number of good cafes close by, which was handy at night when we didn't want to go too far for a meal. Our room was extremely spacious and reasonably quiet. We also liked the fact that the hotel offered free wifi. On our last night there I discovered there was quite a good shopping street around the corner, but the hotel is also an easy walk to many popular sites like the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Victor Emmanuel II monument. I would stay here again.

I chose this hotel as I had stayed in it before over twenty years ago, and a friend, who was with me on that last visit, stayed there around five years ago. I e-mailed the hotel direct one week before I was due to arrive and gave them my ETA of 2200 or later. They confirmed that the room was reserved for me and offered to send a car to the airport. I accepted their offer and gave them my flight number. On the day before I was due to travel, they confirmed that a car would meet my flight. When I arrived at Fiumicino Airport there was no car. I was unable to contact the hotel as my mobile had not yet connected to the Italian network. I arranged a private car and duly arrived at the Medici at around 2230 to be advised that they were overbooked. When I expressed my displeasure at this and the lack of the car, the receptionist, a somewhat scruffy, aged man, he reverted to Italian then English and told me that there was a problem with the water but that they had arranged for me to stay next door at a better hotel at the same price. No apology was offered. As it turned out the second hotel was considerably better and I had a very pleasant stay in Rome. However as a single female, travelling on my own, I consider the Medici's incompetence was disgraceful. Fortunately I am a fairly seasoned traveller otherwise this experience would have spoiled my holiday. I have rated most of the review items as 0 as I have obviously no comment. However, I would certainly not recommend this hotel to any female lone traveller arriving late at night, or indeed at any time of the day.

We were supposed to have a double room, but instead we were given a triple due to lack of enough rooms, so in fact, we had a twin room (the third bed was useless) - too bad for a couple. Breakfast was not really good - not only because there was no meat at all... Also, we had some other problems, but otherwise, the hotel is not so bad: good location, spacious room, kind employees Nevertheless, I will try another hotel the next time in Rome.

We, my adult daughter and I, were very pleased with this hotel. It is relatively close to the Metro and the sights we wanted to see. Our room was clean,(molto importante)and nicely furnished. Plenty of hot water and toiletry provisions. The shower is made for very small people who don't use soap or shampoo apparantly, since there is not anywhere to keep those things in the little stall. However the abundance of towels,a hair dryer and good maid service made that a small inconveniece. We both felt safe and well taken care of by all the informed, helpful and friednly staff. I would go back to the Medici the next time I visit Rome.

Hotel Medici does exactly what it says on the tin with no frills. Rooms were functional but a little cramped, breakfast was good but not great, service was efficient. A fine base from which to explore Rome and it is opposite the cheap but excellent Henry Cow restaurant who do great home-made pasta.
