Large spacious room, bathroom modern but a little small. Excellently placed for station and 15-20 mins walk to the colosseum. Up on 5th floor but there was a lift and nice to have a balcony albeit over a road. Very welcoming family run establishment - breakfast ok. Kettle in room nut only green tea - no coffee or milk which when we queried they said they did not do coffee! strange when you think of Italy as loving their cofee! Ideal base for exploring Rome

Outstanding! The best place we've stayed in Italy so far. Just minutes from Termini station and close to all major tourist sites. This is a family owned establishment and is impeccable in everyway. If I were to return to Rome I would stay here.

My husband and I visited Rome for 3 days. The staff at Hotel Maryelen were the best! They happily greeted us upon our arrival, escorted us to the room, and provided greatly appreciated tips on the area, and what restaurants were highly recommended. Breakfast was a plus for us, it was a great start to a long day. I have no complaints due to being familiar with European breakfast, besides it was delicious. As for the room, we got what we paid for, it was a bit dated, and small, but it was definitely safe, clean, and a great location that was walking distance to the train stations, and other sites within Rome. Check-in and Check-out process was smooth and quick. If in Rome again, I would definitely stay at hotel Maryelen again!

My staying at the Hotel Maryelen wasn't pleasant at I thought it would be after reading their website. The hotel is very close to the Termini Station and they offer a good breakfast. Those are the only good things I have to say. Two sisters were running the hotel during our stay, the one with dark hair wasn't very happy when we approached her to ask informations about the city, always with annoyed look in her face. Besides that, their website states that every room has A/C, well we questioned the sisters about that and they said its central air and it wasn't ON yet, only during the summer, well it was 86F (30C) degrees outside and we have to tost all night, the only option is sleeping with the windows open but the street is very noisy. The most uncomfortable bed I ever slept... Unfortunately I do not recommend this place.

For convenience for anyone arriving by rail, this is the perfect hotel, 5 minutes walk with suitcases. We found a direct small lane that goes direct from the front of the large nearby church to the steps down to Trajans Market which is just across the road from The Forum, it takes a gentle 20 min stroll. In fact we walked the whole of Rome from this hotel in 2 days and saw everything including Vatican and Baths of Caracalla. The family who own this small family business are friendly and helpful with any questions you may have readily answered. If you are planning a short trip to Rome, you won't do better than this. I thoroughly recommend and would stay here again without hesitation. Thank you very much for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

This is a very nice family run hotel a couple blocks from the train station. The rooms were clean and neat. Very good value for Rome due to the location which is away from the main tourist areas. The neighborhood is a little less upscale than other areas but felt safe to us. Many restaurants and a few sights within walking distances. The included breakfast was one of the better ones out of five hotels we stayed in in Italy. With the train, bus and metro hubs close to the hotel it's a great location to go to all parts of Rome.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Hotel Maryelen. The family were extremely helpful whenever we asked for any assistance and our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel was situated very close to Termini which made it so easy for us to walk from the station to the hotel and also to most of the historic sites that we wanted to visit. Their website didn't say there was a kettle in the room so I took my own - then found I need not have. But they did not put any coffee in there, only local teas which I did not like and silly plastic ice cream spoons for stirring. We bought our own milk. We stayed in Rome for one night during a family holiday. Loredana sent an email with a location map as soon as I booked, this was very useful since we were in Rome for the first time. She was very welcoming when we arrived and we were lucky enough to have access to one of the rooms even though it was morning. Breakfast the next day was good and storing bags after check-out was not a problem. Maryelen is a lovely b&b with clean, well decorated rooms and is peaceful and quiet. The location is very handy for traveling into and around Rome. The area was full of restaurants and we found a good place to eat nearby. We would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel very much and would recommend it to others. It was the first hotel we stayed in in Italy and found it to be in a great location and were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. The train and bus station are only 5 min away. Alot of excellent restaurants on the same street as the hotel. The reception was excellent and it was great to be able to leave our packs in a secure place while we explored Rome one last time before our train departed. Our breakfast was great. A 5 min walk from the train station so very convenient. It is more of a B&B than a hotel, with all of the positive characteristics that that brings - very welcoming hosts, not many guests and a more homely feel. However, the single room is tiny, as is the bathroom. The hotel was very quiet and the breakfast provided was more than adequate.

Our stay in Rome was wonderful!!! Loredana was very friendly, very informative and supremely helpful in answering our questions and inquiries about our trip to Rome. The facility was excellent and everything as advertised. It was located in a wonderful area within 2 blocks of Termini train station. It was within walking distance (for reasonably active folks) of all sites we wanted to visit in Rome and had many terrific options for dining in the neighborhood. If one does not desire to walk, it was within easy distance of mass transit. We would definitely stay there again should we be so lucky to return to Rome!!!

As others have said, this B&B really is more of a Hotel. It certainly deserves more than a 1 star rating -- very nice facility. It is a bargain given the location near the train station. Loredana is a delight. Very helpful and accomadating. She took care of us like family. We would certainly stay there again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some online reviews of this facility claim that the rooms do not have private baths -- NOT TRUE. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities you would expect. Though Lordana is a smoker, her rooms are all designated as non-smoking as are the lobby and the dining area. We are very sensitive to smoke and were never bothered by allergies or smoke odor. Her facilities are clean and well maintained. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Breakfast (in the room adjacent to the lobby) Was simple but plentiful with a nice varietry. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Though it is true that WiFi is only available in the lobby, it was convienent and fast. We were even able to make a couple of VOIP calls to the US. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are coming in by train, or plan to use the public transportation, do not hesitate to book Hotel Maryelen.

This is a true gem! We were welcomed like old friends by the ladies and they really went out of their way to look after us. Their warmth and hospitality puts the 'Ireland of the Welcomes' to shame. Our first night was in the annexe which was noisy; obviously no soundproofing. But on our return we got a beautiful spacious room in the new part of the hotel. When M was sick for a day they couldnn't have been more accommodating. They even provided umbrellas on rainy days! Location is excellent, easy to find and less than 5mins walk from Termini.Train stations aren't the best places in any city but we never once felt unsafe. Breakfast average but quite substantial. This is my new home address in Rome! I loved this place. So convenient, near Termini, spotlessly clean (brand new renovation, actually), spacious comfortable rooms...and the nicest staff imaginable. Free WiFi in the lobby and a simple breakfast buffet with made to order cappucino. I did misunderstand the garden referenced in the listing, however. There is an internal garden, shared by several buildings, but it's only for looking at, not for sitting in. No matter! The hotel more than met my needs.

We had a great stay the Maryelen - the welcome was amazing - I love these family run hotels - very personal, and warm. The location for visiting Roma is in my opinion, just about perfect because you are so close to Termini (train/metro and bus station) that you can get anywhere really quickly. Plus, there are lots of ATM's there etc. There is a nice grocer just around the corner which stocks lots of fruit, cheese, bread etc so you can make picnic lunches, and tons of ristorantes around. I can't emphasize enough though the warmness of the staff, making sure that we were happy etc. - that really made the difference. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We highly recommend Maryelen! Loredana and her sister were wonderful amazing and very hospitable. It is a family run business and you truly feel like guests. The two different rooms we stayed in were very clean. The rooms were not huge, but what was expected staying in Europe! Rooms had air conditioning and mini-fridges. We picked here based on guest comments and we were very happy with the choice! We would definitely stay at Maryelen again! It was very close to the termini station yet just far enough away that it is in a nice area. If you get off the train at the termini from the airport the block doesn't look "good", but if you walk to the other end it is fine. The Maryelen is closer to the other nicer end of the termini...still within a 5 minute walk. The breakfast area is nice, good size, on the first floor since they have recently remodeled. It was a great continental breakfast with much to choose from (think Italian continental breakfast not a typical US continental breakfast). Within walking distance to most everything! Awesome location and price for value.

I highly recommend this B & B, with the help of previous travellers. Mother and daugthter run B & B, they made us feel very at home, continental brkfst was more than sufficient. They were in midst of renovations. Brkfst area was to be moved to new area downstairs the next day after we left. Our 1st stay was in older room, but on our return for 3 more nights, we were in a renovated room. There is a lift. At brkfst you get to see the other patrons, lots of families with small children and couples. My only complaint is the pillows were too hard. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The courtyard needs some attention. There are warnings of the area-Stazione Termini, but my friend and I never felt unsafe, lots of people on streets and restaurants filled. The hotel is very close to Stazione Termini, with access to direct bus shuttle to/from airport (ONLY 8 euros), metro, train and buses. I found this quite helpful when you're jetlagged with heavy luggage in hot weather. There is no doubt you have to be cautious with your surrounding wherever you go, but for my friend and I we never once felt unsafe. I would definitely return to this B & B.

We chose Maryelen due to central location to public transport and the positive reviews. We were not diappointed. Since we stayed several days we got a room towards the backyard which was quiet compared to what you can expect in a city. The room was clean and newly renovated. The size was as expected, not big, but spacious enough. The breakfast area was too small, as expected from previous reviews, but the staffs personal service and humour more than compensates. We definitly got some great days in Rome and would like to come back to Maryelen.

If you are going to stay near the train station in Rome this place should be your first choice. They absoultely provide OUTSTANDING service. They are a family run hotel and they are growing into the best hotel in the area. Loredana and her family truly care about their guest and want to insure that you are happy. The immediate area around this hotel is going through some renovations and will soon be the best street in this part of town. The hotel is only 2 and a half blocks to the train station. There are a couple of great resturants on the street including Cecio's (SP) right across the street. Also there is a laundry and dry cleaners right across the street! It's quite rare these days to be treated so well by the staff at a hotel. Here's to Loredana and her wonderful family!!

It was a wonderful place to stay and I am excited to hear that she is expanding to a larger apartment on the ground floor. The rooms were great, clean and everything was provided. a Quality B&B in a location very accessible to the central train station. the staff was extremely warm and accommodating.

The hotel is actually a privately run B&B. The lady running it is very nice, and there cleaning personnel very attentive. However, there's no reception as such, you have to ring at the landlady's private flat.. The room was very space, the bathroom however extremely tiny - an estimated 2m^2 at most ! If you have a room to the yard, that's great, alsot he street wasn't busy at the time of the stay, but it was partly under construction, so there might be more traffic. There's a problem with the noise from the breakfast though - if you stay in the upper of the two floors, it is *right* in front of your door, in one room and the hallway - expect a *lot* of noise from 8am on ! All in all, the location is practical, but the room was too pricey.

We had a room faced to the courtyard. It was quiet, large room but small bathroom. The breakfast was for Italy very generously. The breakfast room is small, but now there is a new Reception and Breakfast room at the ground floor in construction. when it is ready, it will be a marvelous accomodation. Loredana and her daughters are very friendly and competent.

Twin room. "WiFi available in all areas" a bit tricky as you had to hang out the window, then still may not connect. A centrally located computer with client access would be very convenient. There IS air conditioning which was very nice,as the air was humid and weather rainy.

Excellent location, very near to Roma Termini Station with easy access to all major tourist attractions of Rome. The host, Loredana and her daughters were very helpful. The breakfast was excellent.Loredana also got a breakfast packed for us as we had to leave early to catch a train to Pisa. The Rooms and the bathrooms were rather small, but you hardly stay in the room in Rome.

It's breakfast floor and u can hear all noises of breakfast-preparing. ***We enjoyed to stay in maryelen. And we'll prefer it next time.

The location was perfect - only 2.5 blocks from the train station. Loredana and her daughter were wonderful hosts - the breakfast was very nice, and they had good information about Rome and confirmed our airplane reservations. The bedroom was very comfortable, but the bathroom was pretty small. It wouldn't be recommended for someone over 200 lbs.

This was a really great place to stay because it was a nice building, easy to find, and located within walking distance of ROMA TERMINI even if you are completely tired after a trans-Atlantic flight. I found the room to be to my liking. Don't even worry about turning the TV on though because it doesn't have any good channels and it skips from time to time. Also, the fridge didn't work so we eat out a lot instead of going to the super market for stuff we didn't have to cook and eat it there. Overall A+ on this visit. Breakfast was super good for an Italian style breakfast.

OK guys, i have to agree about the cappuccino...it tasted heavenly. Maria-Elena (i think that was her name) knows how to make a good one. Overall breakfast was ok: bread, juice, and jam. There's a fridge in the room so we had fruit and sandwiches there to fill up before sigtseeing. A few tavernas are around. Just around the corner on your right and then across the road a good place in terms of basic tasty food: pasta, lasagne. i think it was called pastarita. Just to warn you about the place just before it. it was Angela's smth..they overcharged us 14 euro there, the food was not great. Waiters there wouldn't explain why they are charging us 14 euros more then prices on the menue. They said it was a service charge, even though the overall bill was 22 euro. we were just 2 girls. I wanted to call the police because they wouldn't let us go. but you don't want to start your holiday like this. so we paid and never came back to that place again. Anyways, i think service charges which are not on the menue are quite common so check the prices on the menu before you pay. The building doesn't have a great sound insulation so you can hear some things from other rooms during the night..but i think it's like any other big old city. Chiao and enjoy your stay in ROme.

Loredana and her daughters very welcoming. Hotel max 3 mins from Termini Station. I stayed with my partner for a long weekend and the hotel was ideal for convenience of getting to all sights. Breakfast room very quaint although this is being updated I was told. The price was very reasonable. I will be visiting Rome again and will definitely use this hotel . Ideal if just passing through for a long weekend and you want reasonably priced accomodation . Would definitely recommend.

Loredana and her daughters were wonderful hosts. The rooms were very clean and adequate for our stay of 5 nights in Rome. The only thing was the noise when other guests came in and the noise outside in the small courtyard (backyard) we faced. The last night was exceptionally noisy with loud banging noises that sounded like explosions. Other than the noise, the place was great. Best of luck to Loredana for her renovation plans.

We stayed in a two-person room with a big double-bed. Close distance to Termini train station and metro is a big advantage. Loredana was as nice as it was described earlier. A small bathroom was not so annoying comparing to a price. Generally, the hotel met our expectations.

Everything was good except the following. 1) Hotel surroundings are not very appealing. It is average and does not give a very good feeling of safety. We did not face any problem though. It is flooded with Asian people/shops. Rome does not have very good vegetarian food, but this area had indian restaurants(4 to be specific) and we ate to our heart's content. So for us, it was both a plus and a minus for us. (The first impression of the surrounding does scare you out a bit, but once you explore the area you may feel a little better). 2) Bathroom in the room is very very small. 3) Hotel itself is in a sort of apartment complex, which houses many other hotels and individual appartments. 4) Maryellen only accepts cash. If you read the fine print while booking the hotel, it does say "Cash only", but it is easy to miss. There are many places near hotel from where you can buy Euros...but nevertheless it was an inconvenience. 4) Now for the good points, other than the above "MINOR" issues, rest of the things were great. Morning breakfast was GREAT....we loved the cappucino coffee. Very helpful staff. Hotel itself is bolted well....three keys (one for building entrance, one for hotel entrance and one for the key).

I traveled to Italy with my cousin and for the price we expected a lot less. We were greeted as family and made to feel very welcome. We reserved our room for our return to Rome four weeks later as the hotel is very convenient to Termini and thus the airport and an easy walk around Rome itself. I recommend this hotel and I would advise any one of my family to stay there. Breakfast room was a little small but cosy.

This B&B was fine for the 2 nights at the end of our holiday but the room and particularly the bathroom were very small with nowhere to hang a wet towel. The lady and her daughter who run this establishment are delightful and very helpful. The location being so close to Termini station is brilliant for anyone using the metro and rail. I would stay here again for a short time but would need more space for more than 2 nights.

This B&B was a wonderful value for the money. Actually it was much better than some higher priced hotels that we've stayed in. It was in walking distance to the termini. We were greeted warmly and allowed to leave our luggage in the room prior to checking in. Maryelen spoke English and she and her daughters were very hospitable. Breakfast was adequate and the cappucino was very good. The room was very clean and the bathroom had plenty of hot water. We had a 5:30a.m. departure, and Maryelen left us breakfast in our room. I would recommend to all types of people on a budget.
