Convenient, cozy hotel near Termini Station. Staff were cheerful, room was clean and huge. One thing I disappointed, breakfast provided but was not good... I expected delicious Italian breakfast but it was nothing special, and taste was bad... Bread was hard, salad was not fresh, milk taste strange more over coffee machine created awful taste liquid. Italian food was beautiful in all Rome, but only this breakfast was disappointing thing. Wifi connection worked on PC but not on mobile. Shampoo and soap equipped but no toothbrush neither hair conditioner. Towl and sheets were clean and were changed every day. Hair dryer equipped. Oh, and credit card is not accepted so need to withdraw cash, I need to add. If you not expect the breakfast, it is nice to stay.

Great hotel near the train station and very convenient. The staff were among the most accommodating that I had encountered in recent stays. In the last 9 months have been to Rome 3 times and wish I had found this place earlier. If this were located in the historical center it would be perfect as a budget accommodation for Rome and the helpfulness of the staff when I needed to stay an extra night was really appreciated, Breakfast was adequate for Rome and nice to have to start your day. Next time in Rome I plan to stay here.

This was my fourth multi-day stay at Maryelen & Giovy in as many years, and I was once again greatly pleased with the hotel, with its excellent location (a few minutes' walk from Termini, which is handy for late evening trains/buses), clean and spacious rooms (bathrooms are on the small side, though), satisfying breakfast and, most importantly, welcoming and helpful owners

The breakfast was very poor,no fresh bread, only roasted in bag's or old bread! At least 1 week old! The juice was diluted concentrate and tasted of chemicals. Triangular sandwiches with very little ham / cheese but mostly with lettuce leaves. Most of them was not toasted at all!!! If you want them toasted, you have to wait long time for it.There was a lot of cakes in all variations, but we don't like cakes at breakfast. It is the poorest breakfasty we ever had in Italy. Thats why we never will stay there another time.

This hotel had a great location near the train station so we could dump bags and explore. All major sights were in easy walking distance. Staff/family were AWESOME, we stayed in approx 8 different hotels in Europe, the best service was here for sure! No formal stuffiness just genuine friendly service :-) Only downside was thin walls, but we'd stay again for sure

Hotel is really closed to Termini station-the whole area lives from tourists/maybe hundred hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, lots of immigrants as street traders/Main monuments are within walking distance, just to the Vatican and Maxxis museum we took public transport.Hotel is clean, our room was spacy, commmon noise from the street, staff is OK,breakfast could be better/the same and only cold meals every day/ We can recommend for dinner tratoria La Forchetta d´Oro-via San Martino ai Monti/excellent Italian food-mainly vegetables,be prepare that you will wait for bill for ages!!!/ Then we bought great semi-raw pasta in manufasturing-shop somewhere closed to Arco di Gallineo,I don´t remember name of the street exactly. Generelly I would recommend hotel and this area for few day stay in Roma.Petr

Good: hotel security, wifi in room, Kettle, fridge, tea bags, hairdryer, Maryelen was pleasant Bad: no safe, only Italian TV - not even the repetitive News station in English; single room was very small and very basic. There was a desk which you couldn't sit at as there was no room for the chair. You had to breathe in to get to the shower room. 'Reception area' totally unappealing in style and location - no-one would ever sit there. The best photos (which are the 3 leaders)are of the courtyard - but you weren't allowed to go there! All photos have a plant in the room - I imagine this was just for the 'photo-shoot', I did not see a carpet or plants in the corridor as in the photo (rug in the room would have been welcome, as would have been a floor towel for shower room). No photos of single rooms. Breakfasts were horrid - chewy rolls, lots of cakey things, horrid cereal and milk, same every day - the best was coffee and fruit juice. No smoking but I smelt smoke in the corridors. Reception - high counter. In general, very business like, but not in any way cosy or homely. The reasons I chose it were location, price, spacious rooms and friendly. Location was very handy for metro/train /bus and there were plenty restaurants (+ a supermarket) nearby Price I suppose was fair for Rome but for me seemed a lot (1 week stay). Can't really comment on relationship between price and quality as I haven't experienced anywhere else in Rome. I wouldn't recommend.

The hotel has no fire escape so if you fear being locked in you should ask for room 26 or 27 which are on the ground floor. The owners are very willing to please and made you feel very welcome. The breakfast is not worth having and the coffee from a machine is awful. The bed linen was worn and had holes in it and the hand towels were not very white and very thin.

Being so close to the Termini Station I was prepared for the worst. Instead, this is an adorable hotel with some of the friendliest staff I have encountered. Even though I left the hotel before breakfast time they opened up the breakfast area and offered me the full breakfast. The rooms are standard size for a good hotel in Europe. There were ample soaps and towels in the bathroom. The area is not typical of Rome, being mainly immigrants, but were plenty of restaurants within a few steps.

The staff at the hotel are very welcoming and helpful. The room was really excellent, with a large private bath and a lot of storage space. Everything was spotlessly clean. The room I had opened on an interior courtyard with no view but ventilation and perfect quiet all night. The price was excellent for the quality of the accommodations. The hotel is on a relatively quiet street very close to the main railway station in Rome, and hence very convenient for travelers. My only disappointment was with the (included) breakfast. There was plenty of quantity and variety, and the breakfast room was pleasant, but almost all the food available was starchy and too sweet for my tastes.

Nice, well run small hotel on a narrow, but congested street near Termini Station. Room was somewhat small, but certainly adequate for two. Virtually no street noise, but some interior noise due to closing/opening of the large, heavy door that separated the lift from the area containing the sleeping rooms. To their credit, the owners put up a sign requesting that guests carefully close the aformentioned door. Staff was helpful and friendly, both on-site, and in our pre-arrival communications by email. We were in Rome in transit from Bologna in order to get to Fiumicino for an early flight. My 8 of 10 value for the money rating is in comparison to what we experienced in Bologna.

WARNING: DO NOT GET A ROOM HERE! Rome was the end of a 9-day trip for me and my fiancee. The staff at Maryelen were nice, but that is not enough to make up for what was a horrible stay. It was just so much misery piled on misery: (1) The bed was terribly stiff and uncomfortable. (2) Our shower was broken for 2/4 nights... we had to tell them for two days unti they replaced our showerhead. By "broken," I mean water came out of the neck such that we had to shower under the sprinkling of it, rather than a normal shower with sufficient water pressure coming through the head. (3) The floor was so dirty, my poor fiancee has dirt CRUSTED on the soles of her feet, and had to re-rince them after she showered. (4) THe breakfast was AWFUL. How awful? We opted to pay for breakfast during one of our stays b/c we just didn't want theirs. I would never go back to Maryelen, I'm sorry to say.

The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and spoke good English. They recommended places to eat, told me where to find an internet cafe (though wifi is available in the lobby), and when I needed an ice-pack for my ailing knee they had one right away. The hotel was extremely clean and comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent there. Our room was small by Canadian standards, especially the bathroom, but was certainly all that we needed! Getting there from Termini Station on foot, with our luggage in tow, was so easy - and our welcome was warm and sincere! There was a laundromat right across the street and many good places to eat very close by - a couple of them recommended by the hotel. We had no trouble walking about and easily finidng our way back to our room! Breakfast was included and we found a lovely selection of breads, baked goods, cereal and fruit. We would DEFINITELY stay at this hotel again and have already recommended it to friends!

We had a really pleasant and comfortable stay at Hotel Maryelen. The hotel is very well kept, and in a great location. Only takes 10mins when coming off from the trains at Roma Termini, so it was quite manageable even with heavy luggage; and there is an elevator to the upper floor rooms. In fact we stayed here twice – before and after the Cruise. And found that this hotel is in a really good location for us to take the train to and from Civitavecchia, as well as to and from Fiumicino Airport. Host Loredana is most gracious and friendly, helping us with maps and directions, and really anything that you need to ask her. She with her family and staff have made our visit to Rome convenient and worry-free. We will definitely visit Rome again and for sure will stay with Loredana.

Our room and facilities were very clean and the location was great for a visit to the major sites. It was only a 5 minute walk to the Termini making transfer to & from the Fumicino airport easy & inexpensive. We used the airport shuttle at 4 Euro each. Greeted at checkin, we were given all the information we needed including a great local restaurant just across the street. The area is surrounded with good restaurants, and within easy walking distance for several sites and tour busses. Loredana at the desk went out of her way to assist us and make us feel at ease & at home. I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I return to Rome.

For a train station hotel - this was a great value....$80Euro for a double - clean, spactiou and quite and just 3 minutes to Termini. Staff was helpful. 2 drawbacks....wifi only in public areas, and the breakfast while extensive was stale.

Our second stay at this hotel. As with the first the staff (mostly the owners and family members) provided very friendly and very good service. Their willingness to assist guests to find their way about Rome, recommend places to eat, make use of public transit, etc was outstanding. Really great innkeepers! Our only comments on changes that would be helpful to many travellers, and these comments apply to many, many hotels, apartments and B&Bs in Rome and Italy in general, is the requirement to pay only in cash at many of these facilites. This is often inconvenient as one has to then carry more cash then one should for security. One also has to find bank machines that will give out sufficient cash. While I can easily have the my own bank raise my cash withdrawal limits for travel it does not mean that all cash machines will dispense more than specific amounts in the name of limiting fraud/thieft of lost or stolen bank cards. So frequently if I must pay in cash I have to do two withdrawals on two different days. Cedit card use is simplly more secure and easier than having to carry large sums of cash in order to pay hotel bills. Secondly, regarding breakfasts. Traditional european breakfasts (cakes, sweet buns, cookies, processed meats, sweet cereals with lots of suger content, cookies) need some additional items added like yougurt, sliced tomatoes, a toaster to toast bread, cereals like musliex, boiled eggs.

I loved the breakfast buffet! One downside though is that wifi was available only in the common areas and not in the room.

This was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The room was so clean you could eat off the floor and very spacious and quiet. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in every way. I just can't say enough good things about my experience. This will always be my first choice when staying in Rome. Thank you and hope to be back again soon!

Convenient location, excellent breakfast, modern rooms, helpful staff, and so on, but the funny smell in our room just was a big turn off. It stunk so bad. The first day was worst. The smell of cigarette smoke saturated in the bedding and the mattress, and couldn't pinpoint exactly where but had a stinky foot smell. The hall way, too. We though maybe it's just ours, so we asked other people. They said the same thing. Even the great breakfast couldn't compensate for that peculiar odor, unfortunately. The mattress Was pretty worn out with the sunk center and poking springs.

We really see an improvement in the area around the Central Termini. We felt safe at night with easy walking to sights. Also love Cecio restaurant across the street. Maryelen is a sweetheart - very helpful with lost luggage and contacting our family in Italy.

The hotel is conveniently located - near the Termini station, but in a relatively quiet street and this suited our needs perfectly. The room was a little old fashioned, but perfectly clean and comfortable and the shower functioned very well - a small, but important detail. It was priced very fairly and the owner and her staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We will certainly stay again when we are next in Rome.

The hotel was very very nice, however too much for us in terms of money, because we did not enjoy the hotel itself, we were out all day. However the hotel does not have anything interesting to stay there, so a hotel only for sleep I found it to pricy. However it has perfect connection with everything because it is very close to the main station. I would say that is a safe choice, pricy but cozy, clean, quiet, perfect to rest of the exciting Rome. The owner is always there and she is great! She gave us breakfast before the time scheduled and that was very thoughtful.

Lordana and her family were so good to us and anything we needed or needed to know was given to us with a friendly smile. The room was beautiful, quite spacious for Italy standards and the little balcony terrace looking out over the courtyard was a lovely touch. It's very close to Termini Station and was very easily found. I will definetely be coming back to Rome and staying at this lovely place when I return.
