About Hotel Mari 2

exterior Hotel Mari 2 exterior The hotel Mari 2 is a comfortable budget hotel located near Rome's central railway station Termini and Piazza della Repubblica square, the gateway to some of the finest monuments in the city.

The large avenue of via Nazionale winds down from the above mentioned square and will lead you right into Piazza Venezia with its famous Altare della Patria hosting the body of the Unknown Soldier. On your left viale dei Fori Imperiali takes you to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, while on your right a steep flight of stairs will lead you onto Capitol Hill.

The hotel is therefore perfectly placed to reach any attraction in and around the city, in no time. Its vicinity to the main railway station also provides quick and easy access to trains leaving for all major Italian and European towns as well as for the airport.

The helpful staff of the hotel offers guests useful informations and services such as free maps, luggage storage, laundry service (outside of the hotel) and an Internet Point in the hotel lobby. The hotel also organizes several guided city tours and special features such as dinner with theatre, visits to the nearby Castelli Romani or Tivoli baths or even a place at the traditional Wednesday mornings' Papal Audience.

Typisches einfaches römisches Hotel: zentral beim Termini, lebendig, freundlich, leicht "angeknabbert". Ich fand's tip-top!

this hotel was the best for this price! really near to termini station, clean rooms, great breakfast, good staff - so the relationship between its price and its quality is almost the best in rome!!!

Arrived quite late at night. Entrance was very small. Had a bit of trouble with the language differences. Had to walk up 4 flights of stairs to our room. The whole night we were disturbed with other people coming and going. Our room was to the back of the hotel looking out onto back of houses - very noisy first thing in the morning with locals catching up. It would have been ok for the night if it hadn't been so expensive. 155 euros for a quad room was expensive for what we got. I would return here if there were no alternatives as long as it was only for 1 night no longer. They should reduce their prices.

Hotel located conveniently from Termini and the Ciampino airport bus (that´s why we chose it) Room was clean but boring, facing an ugly courtyard. We slept very little. Very noisy almost all night, a german crowd of guest shouted, laughed and ran up and down the stairs. The hotel does not take credit cards which made us go out an take out 250 Euros in cash from an automat. Not the kind of neighborhood to be carrying that much money. We will not stay here again. We did not feel safe staying here.

Peccato!

The rooms were small, on the original website it stated that this hotel had a lift, our room was on the 5th Floor that’s a lot of stairs. We didn't have a TV when I asked for a discount a TV appeared in our room the following night. This is more of a hostel than a hotel.

In a word this place was,"creepy". As great as the people were at the front desk it couldn't make up for the rundown condition of the hotel. They "just opened" was what we were told when we got there which would lead one to believe that it can get worse. Usually you open at your best. To be specific, The entrance way to the rooms was underconstruction. And it seemed to be a back entrance which was their main entrance. The room door was crooked and had been plastered back up as if maybe it had been knocked down. It didn't look securely in place. The windows when you tried to close them, one of the panels FELL OUT. Below was a small shed easy accessability for anyone outside to get into the room. So basically you are unprotected from the outside which is a not a great area of Rome. The grossest part was in the bathroom where the only cup was creamic & chipped (which I could take) but it dirty with dried toothpaste around the rim from the last person who used it. The bathmat was dirty and on the floor. The only reason we were there was to be close to the train station for an early departure. It was a shame that this hotel was my friends last image of Rome. Think again if your going to book here. It's not worth the money or lack of sleep. There is no way this should have any stars. It's a dump with the sweetest people at the front desk.

The Hotel it self is ok. The rooms are beeing renovated. Bathroom was the weakest point of the room I've stayed in. It had no hooks to hang cloths. Hotel it self could use of an elevator. After all I liked my stay there. It could be less expensive.

I give this hotel a bad rating because it is a pensione and NOT a hotel. It was listed in the hotel section instead of the hostel section. Very deceiving! There was no elevator, phone or air conditioning. The manager treated us poorly even though we clearly stated that we were still going to pay the room charge but still had to go because we were with my mother with a heart condition and she couldn't handle the extreme heat. They were not going to lose any money but the manager still felt the need to yell at us and treat us rudely. We got an airconditioned room with the hotel above his hotel. In the morning when we were loading our luggage into taxis to head to the airport the manager of the Mari had six policemen escort us out! The police checked with the front desk and found out that we had paid and apologized and left. That manager of the Mari is a psycho and should lose his license! Do not stay here! Obviously they are used to dealing with young kids who are easily intimidated.

I definitely think that Mari 2 should have a lift up to all the rooms not only is it convenient for travellers but also assists the elderly or disabled. I was abit disappointed that the room didn't have a t.v. I paid for a room in Venice, right on the Grand Canal and I only paid 50 Euros for the room and it had a t.v. When we arrived the person at the front desk told us that we had to check out early in the morning at around 8am and he wasn't sure about that. We both woke up in the morning, went down to reception and were greeted by a very welcoming young lady who was very helpful and looked after our bags while we walked around Rome and enjoyed the sites so that made our stay at the Mari all worthwhile. I still have the card from her and will in no means hesitate to stay at the Mari again in the near or distant future!!! Thank you.

The sink in the shower was defect, so it stank horribly in the whole room. We had to ask in a very strict way to get an approvment - for the last night we got another room. Besides the shower was not repaired.

I was quoted in the confirming e-mail 50 euros a night and continental breakfast include--the latter is even on the Website. Neither was true. Total fraud. 60 euros and no breakfast. Also, I stayed at the Mari 1, not Mari 2 because of so-called toilet problems. Finally, the shared bathroom at the Mari 1 smelled of mildew due to inadequate drainage for the shower.

One thing i would have liked to have known was taht our room was on a sixth floor walk up. After all day of ewalking around the city, those stairs are quite challenging.

It was still being renovated as we stayed there. it smelled like chemicals. The hallways were dirty, it did not seem secure. The photos on the web were very misleading. The room was small. Being near the train station in Rome is not particularly nice, but many of the city's accomodations are there.

I stayed during Easter so the price I payed was a little higher than what I got.. but considering the high season.. this was not a bad choice.. For those looking for just a place to stay in a decent room this is it...
