Its wonderful location, near to the main attractions and very few minutes from Termini railway station, proved to be the perfect choice to go through Rome walking and enjoying the charmy atmosphere of this ancient town. At Marcella Royal you can be delighted in having breakfast served on the top floor with a breathaking view on San Pietro's dome.

Not too far from downtown and close from Termini station ( Train is better than taxi to go to fumicino airport). Rooms and prices are OK. A great breakfast included.

Nice place to stay, although we ( mother and daughter) were offered a very poor room on the first floor at first. After complaining we got a much better room on the upper floor. Lovely view from the terrace.

I stayed at the Marcella Royal on two separate occasions. The first night in a SINGLE room on the 6th floor my room was VERY SMALL with a TWIN BED and window unit air conditioner. The smoky smell was a bit much. Adequate BUT....... When I returned two nights later, I requested another room on a lower floor. NON SMOKING. The manager gave me a wonderfully spacious and pleasant room on the 4th floor. #424 NON-SMOKING. Very satisfactory, pleasant, though the t.v. was smallish. The hotel is located in a convenient albeit uninspiring part of Rome. Convenient to the train station, metro, etc. Can not say ENOUGH NICE things about the staff who BEND OVER BACKWARDS for the guests. Breakfast on the upper terrace is VERY PLEASANT. Internet access is through wi-fi or pay by the hour to use their old and rickity computer.

This is a terrific choice for a reasonably priced hotel in Rome. After a few problems with the first room that they gave us, the remainder of our stay was excellent. The location is a bit of a walk from the main attractions, but cabs are easy to find. It is extremely convenient to the main rail station.

Special trip with my daughter to spend a long weekend in Rome. Our trip was made even more special by the excellent service provided by the staff and our enjoyment of the hotel. The rooftop dining area is a great place to start and end the day with a beautiful view over the rooftops of Rome.Exceptional service & value!

This is a fine hotel, I was upgraded from a single to a matrimonial bed, one thing against the hotel is the breakfast not so good for quality of the hotel nor having the appropriate quality for the terrace on the penthouse were is served.

We had a wonderful stay at the Marcella! The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The only negative comments I can make are that the room we had was incredibly hot even with the air conditioning on (room 516) and the pigeons on the roof terrace. Other than that, we had a wonderful time at the Marcella and in Rome! Many thanks

First of all- VENRE.COM is wonderful. The Royal is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast is served in a nice area on roof patio. The only drawback is the hotel is a bit far from anything and results in early returns because of the rediculously silly/early public transport in Rome

Staff friendly and place made by the breakfast/piano bar with views over the roof-tops. Great way to start the day

The elegant, Old World service at Marcella Royal was friendly and outstanding -- not only from the folks at the front desk, but from the entire staff, especially the waiters at the hotel's fabulous rooftop garden lounge and piano bar. Our room was not particularly spacious, but didn't feel cramped. The silk wall coverings, coffered ceilings, and sparkling bathroom were nice to come back to after a long day of walking about. We had a window looking out onto the street, which got a little noisy in the very early mornings with garbage trucks and delivery vehicles, but only because we kept the window open. The windows are equipped with double blackout shutters that effectively muffled the noise when we closed them. The complimentary breakfast buffet was great -- and convenient -- the scrambled eggs were always perfect and delicious, which is tough to pull off in a buffet. There are a number of very good small restaurants within a block or two of the Marcella Royal which was great. (That said, we didn't find ANY bad food in Italy.) We walked EVERYWHERE from the Marcella Royal, except to the Vatican which was a modest-priced taxi ride away. We loved our stay here -- the very best service we received out of five hotels we stayed in during our three week vacation to Italy. We can't wait to go back!

Charming hotel in quiet street a bit out of the centre but easily accessible. The roof terrace is a real bonus. The room (double for single use) was not particularly large but comfortable and well appointed. The street is usually quiet, I was unlucky that they dug it up at 5.30 am! Several restaurants in the street. I would stay there again.

Decent price for Italy, room is a little small. Right next to the hotel is Medici Hotel. Larger rooms, service / breakfast aren't as great, but I would have stayed there next time.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on our honeymoon in September 2005 for four days. Upon arriving we were greeted very graciously by Cinzia who was working at the desk at that time. She very promptly checked us in even though we had arrived early, and showed us to our room personally. She stated as we made our way up to the fifth floor by elevator that it was her favorite room in the hotel. As soon as we entered I could see why. It was a very large corner room and had two balconies. We entered into a large sitting area with chairs, tables and a refrigerator. Then through glass french doors we entered into a very spacious bedroom area with a king size bed, television, three closets and many drawers. Rome was our first stop in Italy and I had been prepared for a small room which is what I was told was the standard in Europe/Italy. We had only booked a standard room and this room was much larger than any standard room in the US. The bathroom was beautiful with white and green marble and was very clean. That evening when we returned from dinner we had champagne waiting for us that was provided with our turn down service. I can only assume that the extra attention was given because in my email correspondence with the hotel prior to our arrival I stated that it was our honeymoon. The breakfast room and roof top terrace had great views of Rome. The breakfast not only included cereal, fruit, meats and cheeses as were expected, but also scrambled eggs and bacon; All complimentary. My wife and I were extremely pleased with our stay and would stay at the Marcella Royal again if we were to return to Rome.

My husband & I stayed at Marcella Royal for four days in mid May of this year -- 2005. Excellent service provided by all staff, especially front desk (e.g. Mikhail & Christian). Ample breakfast each morning, in a lovely rooftop setting. Location for us was quite good, within easy walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Borghese Gallery, etc. We will definitely stay at Marcella Royal again when in Rome.

Enjoyed our stay at the Marcella Royal very much. The hotel was located on a side street about 15 mins walk from Trevi fountain. There are various restaurants, all very good, in and around the area of the hotel. The hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. Breakfast we felt was limited, but adequate. We had booked through venere.com, but on arrival, our details did not appear on the system and there was a question mark over our booking. Fortunately we had arrived in a taxi that had been booked by the hotel , and also I was carrying print outs from the web. Worth a confirmation phone call. Our en suite facilities were rather small, but I believe this was a knock on effect of our misplaced booking. I would definately recommend this hotel, although it is a reasonable walk to some of the major attractions, it is clean, friendly, and does not suffer from any traffic noise. ( watch out for Tony Blair at the reception !!)

A very nice hotel with great service. Rooms a little small but OK for a 2/3 night stay. The hotel is a 20/30 walk from the centre of town, so it is quieter but there is not as much going on nearby. Overall, I'd happily go back

The hotel satisfied the different needs and wishes of the different family members very well and it can be recommended without hesitation. Unfortunately, the price is quite high (but this a common issue in Rome).

We stayed at the Marcella Royal for our honeymoon. I called the hotel before we left the UK to confirm everything and all my fears were laid to rest by Michele who was a god sebd throughout our whole stay. When we arrived we were treated like VIPs and given a suite, for a superior double price! It was very spacious and clean and there was a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us. This was typical of how we we treated during our stay. We particularly enjoyed the enourmous choice offered at breakfast, where you have a excellent view of the city from the top floor. Also on the top floor is the rooftop bar Where in the evenings you can enjoy (Rather Expensive!) cocktails and listen to the paino music of Mauro, which is a great way to start the eving before heading out into town. All the majpr sites are and easy 10-15 min walk away. Overall we loved the Marcella Royal, we will return to see Michele, Mauro & Slavatore! Thanks!
