The location was great! It was right across the street from the train station. The breakfast was great too! The room had a foul smell which never cleared up. The bathroom had just been renovated, but old pipes, so the water was either cold or scalding. We appreciated the location, but would not stay here again.

The hotel was only just ok - we wanted to be near the Termini station for ease of access to the city and for that alone it met our expectations. The breakfast was basic and barely adequate the only cooked dish was scrambled eggs which weren't kept warm and the toaster provided did not work. There was no mention of the nightclub which could be heard and felt til about 3 in the morning so we didn't sleep very well and there was a horrible fishy/drain smell in the bathroom - would not stay there again.

When we arrived at Madison Hotel we were told that our rooms were in Hotel Prince de Galles, 400m further from Termini station. At Prince de Galles, my room was not ready when I arrived (round 2pm). At 4pm I was told that it would take another hour. At 6pm I finally got my room and 2 beers to compensate (which I appreciated). During the night, it was very warm in my room which prevented me from sleeping. You understand I am not very happy with my stay at Hotel Madison (which turned out to be Hotel Prince des Galles).

Pros: Great location from Termini. If you take Leonardo Express then this is an easy to get to Hotel. Decent breakfast. Cons: Front desk staff is not very friendly. If you are a tourist you are on your own. Our Quad room did not have any windows to bring in natural light. Beds were like cheap motel beds. We stayed with our 9 and 12 year olds. Next time in Rome, we won't stay in this hotel, I will look for a hotel few blocks away towards Colosi.

There is no internet connection. The breakfast is a bit of a disappointment. My room was spacy, but very dark and not very attractive. The bathroom was very clean and well maintained. Airconditioning was working but at such a low capacity that the room was still very hot after a few hours. The hotel is literally a few steps from the side-exit of railway station Termini. This is an excellent location to branch out to the city either walking or by metro or bus. It seems that mainly Americans stay in this hotel.

Impossible to get down one side of the bed. The bath and shower plumbing was a disgrace. There was a lot of leakage under the shower screen onto the bathroom floor when showering. When using the bath the tap poured water onto the bath surround which then also flowed onto the floor.

Good location, right next to the termini station just what we needed for a one night stay in Rome before we caught our flight. It fulfilled all the basic needs, somewhere clean and comfortable to stay for one night. Breakfast was adequate and definitely will fill you for the day. Good place for a couple of nights but wouldn't recommend for a long stay in Rome as it was a bit pricey for a basic room (there was 3 of us in one room, so would have been a little more spacious had it just been a couple)but good to get round Rome if you are just there for a fleeting visit. Would stay again if I was flying into Rome.

One of the ladies behind the desk was not very helpful and just went through the motion she spent too much of her time on her mobile to bother helping. A vacum cleaner was left on the stairs for 12 hours as a tripping hazard and just poor housekeeping.

Hotel Madison has good access to Rome Termini Station! I used this hotel for 1 night stay and next day I moved to Napoli by train. Hotel was Very clean and comfortable. If you will arrive Rome Termini Station from Fiumichino airport, a few minutes walk in Termini station is required because you get off the train at the platform No.24 where the opposite-side of street "Via Marsala" and back of the station.

The hotel is rather basic but confortable. It is located right by the railway station, which is very confortable as there you have metro, busses and little shops open all day. As in every other city of the world, to be by the station means also that you have to watch out your belongins when you step out of the hotel door.

Hotel is well located for ar/dep from train station. Breakfast buffet is extremely copious, varied and good. Bathroom is excellent, all marble. Staff is helpful. But...room was somewhat worn- pieces of wooden floor were missing and the carpet that was placed in this missing area was very dirty. Headboard of bed was a synthetic material that was very worn. The strangest thing was the refrigerator which was unusable because of an extremely strong ammonia smell.

Upon making the reservation, we specified that we would arrive at 10 in the morning. However, our room was not available until 3 in the afternoon, which was horribly unpleasant especially as the staff was thouroughly unapologetic, rude and not helpful. Overall though, it was a nice hotel, but the room was quite cave-like as there was absolutely no natural light.

Very good location. Just 1 minutes walk from Termini station, although very far from the platform for Leonardo Express. We stayed in a triple with an extra-bed in the 4th floor. The room was very poor; TV does not work, air conditioner controller was broken, not decorated wall (some part were peeled off). I would recommend this hotel for the people who just need the bed and breakfast, not for a luxury room. I think the location is worth the price.

We only spent our last night in Rome but its location is perfect cause it's almost in front of Termini station, and where buses to Ciampino airport stop. Special thanks to people at reception that let us have breakfast earlier than 7 o'clock (we were in a hurry to catch the bus to airport). Spacious room and bathroom, air condition system worked properly (a bit noisy)...nice staying during August 2008. I definitevely would return to this hotel in my next visit to Rome.

We didnt even get to stay at this hotel, there was a "mix up" and we got carted to another of the hotels in there chain of 4. This hotel was situated 15min walk from the station (not the 30 seconds that we had expected when we booked). However other than the distance from the station, this hotel was perfectly pleasent, room was clean, good size room and bathroom, and the breakfast was adaquate - simply continential. - so the above review is for the hotel we got moved in the same chain. Was however very dissapointed that got moved to a hotel further away than had booked - not usre if this is somthing that they do often or wheather it was a genuine 'mix up'

I was booked in twice for the Madison the staff were good however, being moved to the Galles Hotel at check in was good the Galles was better. The 2nd time We actually stayed at the Madison we had no curtains, could not open windows the a/c was not working properly. I would not book the Madison again although conveniently positioned not good enough. But would book the Galles Hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel twice, mostly because of its location, right next to Termini and public transportation. The hall to get to the rooms are a laberinth but well signalized. The rooms and bathroom are big. The air conditioning does not work very well at this time. A lot of people at breakfast room, which is basic compared to other 3 star hotels during our trip to Europe and is self service even for tea, coffee or silverware.

This hotel is close to main termini train station in Rome. Great location - even if it looks a bit seedy on the outside. the rooms are very nice - but extremely extremely tiny. It was not a big deal for us. My BIG complaint was that they advertised Internet service avaialable in the hotel and that was NOT TRUE. The staff seemed apologetic about this - they need to update their web site about their facilities. For that reason I rated them lower.

When I loocked at the information it stated most rooms have a bath tube, it was also asked for a bath tube when booked. We did ofcourse get one without, and asked for a change, with the typical italian answer tomorrow. So we did not get surprised the next morning when they said you can have one tomorrow. ( we asked just after a buss load ov people had checked out. Two single beds on weels do not fullfill the requirement as a doulbe bed either. The above is the reason for the bad score for service and the rooms. The nice breakfast was bether than expected :-)

Great location but the hotel is a little dated. The lift is a bit dodgy. Got stuck in it and wouldn't open. Went up and down the lift a few times till the door opened. Breakfast is very ordinary. No hot food. Just bread, jam, biscuites and canned fruits. Hotel doesn't even offer you a tea and coffee service in the room so you can't even boil some water for a hot drink. Directly opposite the train station so if you are arriving late and don't know the area, it is a good first stop. Transport system in Italy is fantastic. Very punctual and cheap. If I were to do it over again, I'd stay further out of the city and commute in, say 20 to 30 minutes out. You don't need to stay in the city unless you are in to the night life. You will find that everything is cheaper when you are out of the city. There is a direct train from the Leonardo da Vinci Airport to the central termini. Cost is 11 euro. Taxi is about 40 euro and if you go with a limo, will cost upwards of 50 euro. Takes about an hour to get to and from the airport. Don't change money at the money changer at the train station or anywhere else in Italy. You pay a transaction fee plus between 15 to 17.9 % commission. Cheaper at a bank or change at home before you travel. Best option is to pay via credit card all the time. The rate of exchange is better than what you could get at any money changer or bank anywhere. It is also safer. Italy is very safe. We travelled everywhere and late into the night (1am) and didn't have any issues. There are police everywhere. To see all of Rome, you will need about 5 days

We found the hotel perfectly adequate. It had everything we needed. Breakfast was fine. The position of the hotel right beside the Termini Station absolutely could not have been better. Literally we got of the Terra vista bus from Ciampino Airport, in the Via Marsala, looked across the road, and there was the hotel. All we had to do was pull our luggage across one street, and we were through the door into reception, into the lift and into our room.Thereafterall journeys were simple ,because it was beside all transport links.Couldn`t have been better. we will definitely stay there again. there was a lot of noise from the people in the street til late on,but we were on floor 5 so it wasn`t a problem.Across the road ,downstairs in Termini ,turn right, there is a supermarket ,where water is 34 cents per 2 litre bottle,so very easy to nip across,or bring water back anytime.

Generally the Hotel is ok. it's just located beside the Central railway station. The breakfast is quite good. The reception is not so polite (maybe i should say not so warm) but the staffs in breakfast services are very nice, even though they couldn't speak English. Our room is small but enough, with a big bathroom. But for oriental, it's a little inconvenient due to no hot water after breakfast time. and no kitchen and microwave oven to cook my instant rice.

Very Central to Termini Station Roma, you cannot miss it walk to Exit near Platform 1 and it is virtually opposite, Rooms nicely decorated we were just unlucky that we didnt get a room with a view, breakfast is ok very basic, but reasonable quality, Some great little restaurants in the side streets around hotel, Transport Passes well worth 11 Euros for three days travel on local train, tube, bus and tram Very handy for travellers arriving via Leonardo Express from Aiport, Dump the bags here and explore Roma!

Very good location for access (Termini station), and visit center by foot as well. The room was Ok, surprisingly quite regarding the location (close to station and gallery), but a bit small. Good welcome. Some rooms are quite far from the lift (long corridors). But again globally OK for sleeping, and convenient.

We did not arrive until around 1am, when we entered the hotel there was no one behind reception and we had to wait for at least ten minutes for someone to come but when the man did come he seemed to have quiet a few drinks,so we dealt with him as quickly as possible and went up to our room. The room was shocking it was tiny. I don't know about anywhere else but in Ireland the room would have been considered a single room with a small double bed in it. I booked my room at least two if not three months in advance as I wanted to ensure I got what I asked for, which is not what I got. I asked for a twin smoking room, what I got was a (tiny) double room non-smoking. I rang down to reception to the man in reception to be informed the hotel was full and then he hung up without any talk of sorting the mess out in the morning. As i said the rooms were tiny but they were very clean and were cleaned everyday. The bathrooms were the nicest aspect of the rooms obviously done up recently unlike the rest of the room. Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and very fresh-no complaints in this department. After the first night we did not see our night reception friend at all the day time recptionist was lovely really helpful with plenty of tour suggestions and restaurants etc. The hotel is nearly directly opposite the station which does make it alot easier if you got lost going around on tours if you got lost as everyone knew where the station was so this was very good. Overall bar the size of the rooms it wasn't a bad hotel after all we only slept there and gone again first thing in the morning and back again late in the evening but I would not stay there again but is was fine for my first visit to Rome. Enjoy your travels!

Very bad service at the hotel. We booked a double room, and received a single room, because there was nothing available anymore. We had to crawl over the second bed which was put into the room to get into the bath! But there was no service at all. They kept us waiting at the reception for a very long time, without any excuses or anything. This was for us definately the last time at this hotel.

Having made all of my Hotel Bookings over the Internet with Venere.com for my recent trip to Italy, I have to say that this Hotel was the most disappointing of all. The Room allocated to us was nothing like the photographs on the Internet and I felt that the Hotel Staff didn't value us as much as other Hotel Guests maybe because we had Paid a lower price due to Booking over the Internet? This also reflected on the Room allocated which was more like a "store cupboard" than a spacious Hotel Room. It was more like a Room that would be used for live in staff, because although I assume that it was equipped in the same way as other Rooms, it had no view unless you stood on Tiptoes and strained to look over the Rooftop. It was quite chlostraphobic, right by the lift and not recommendable in the event of a Fire. In addition, the Bathroom was shabby with no Shower tray, just a shower head fixed to the corner of the wall with a "hole" in the floor as a plug. This resulted in the Bathroom and passage flooding no matter how careful you took the Shower. Also, the cover over this hole was broken and special care had to be taken so as not to badly cut your foot. I asked if there was a possibility of paying to upgrade for a room with a full bathroom and maybe a View, as we stayed for two nights. However, the Receptionist was sarcastic and just answered by saying "Is a shower not enough then?" As I also work in the Toursit industry, this is not quite the answer I would expect to come from one of my Receptionist's mouths!! The Hotel Manager was not much more helpful and just said that the Hotel was full after looking at the computer list. (Assumingly again due to the amount we had paid in comparison maybe with other direct Hotel Guests). Having said all of the above, I will add that the Hotel Public areas were nicely presented and in general the Hotel was clean. The Restaurant Staff were very friendly. The Local area was buzzing with lots of Restau

When we walked in, after having reserved for over a month and a half, they offered us a (no doubt related) different hotel because they didn't have a room with a third bed as we had asked and to which they had accepted. After we hassled them no end, they finally showed us two doubles where they could add a third bed (exactly what we had agreed to in any case); after an hour or so struggling with the baby bed, they called a manager to help them figure out how to open it up. It was a nice location, and they were VERY nice (just obviously incompetent and, I suppose, very Italian) and we had agreat time, but I think we would have had a great time in the park around the corner. A very mixed experience--but not bad, just confused. The up side was that they eventually didn't charge me for the third bed--but I think that was also incompetence, not good management decision-making.

We flew in early morning to be greeted rudely by the front desk (older gentleman) who told us to come back later at 2pm when the room would be ready. We understand that rooms might not be ready but the employee was rude about it. When we asked if we could leave our luggage behind, we just pointed to the small lobby. They didn't have a place to store luggage. He just told us to leave it in the lobby in front of the elevator where everybody walks by. Other people were told to do the same as us. The room itself is smaller then the website photos but it didn't matter much to us. What did bother us was the air conditioning that hardly worked. It blew semi cold air very weakly. The breakfast was actually good. We had a big buffet of choices from croissants, breads, fruit, hard boiled eggs, juices, etc. The location was also convenient being right next to the train station which was also the subway station. Overall, it wasn't bad for 1 night, as we stayed just one night after we flew into Rome before continuing on but we wished the front desk employee (the older gentleman only) was more welcoming.

We did not get to stay at the Madison. When we arrived we were told that the air conditioning was out and that we could not stay there. We were sent to the Galileo hotel about 10 blocks away. This hotel was completely unexceptable. It was nothing like the Madison in appearance. The air conditioning did not cool at all, one of the rooms smelled horrible and the water went out during the night. When we saw the conditions and went back to the Madison to see if they could book us elsewhere the desk clerk spoke to the Galileo and we were told it would be taken care of but it was not. We went and found accomadations elsewhere at a higher rate. I was looking forward to staying at the Madison because of the things I had read about it and the pictures I had seen but if this is the way they take care of their guest in an emergency I don't think I would book there again.

I have stayed at this hotel twice-the location is fine, access to buses, trains and metro cannot be faulted. However, having visited with my granddaughter on both occasions I must say that the TV is abysmal, unless you think the same story on CCN day after day is of interest!A sixteen year old on an early night expects more. Apart from that it was good value for money.

The front desk personnel were very hospitable and helpful. Location was right across from main train station but still quiet. Room was clean and comfortable. Excellent choice for a short stay.

The air conditioner was not working the whole time we were there. A staff member came to look at the problem, but was unable to do anything about. He said we could change rooms, but that the sitauation with the air conditioning was the same in all of them. The service here was not very good, and I would NOT recommend this hotel. The price was very high considering the few services offered and the unfriendliness of the hotel staff.

A friend and I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed everything about the hotel except the lack of a shower curtain which made for a lake on the floor on one occasion. Staff was helpful, room was clean, location was great, breakfast was plentiful, bed very comfortable. Would definitely return.

They gave us a different type of room. Poor welcoming, bad service. Good location, but many homeless around: dangerous! Good location, and breakfast. VERY DIRTY!!!!! Nos dieron un tipo de habitación diferente. Bienvenida mala, mal servicio. Buena localización, y desayuno. Puerta llena de mendigos. MUY SUCIO!!

This was a very central hotel - handy to the trains and Metro (and the bus to the airport) and not too far too walk to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps etc Our only grump was the heat and the lack of aircon - we were told to open the windows as aircon was not allowed in April ?? but the breakfast was good and the rooms were clean, there was a mini fridge for those into self catering - something we tended to do travelling with a family.

We had rooms booked at the Madison at the beginning of our vacation and again at the end of our trip. The three rooms we were to stay in upon arriving in Rome were not available; the hotel was over booked. We were, however, moved to a much nicer hotel two metro stops away. All of the accomodations at this hotel were wonderful. We did stay at the Madison towards then end of our trip and it was OK. The view was nothing to brag about, but the accomodations were sufficient for the money. We would book with this hotel again. The receptionists were extremely helpful both before our arrival (when I emailed with questions) and during our stay.

The hotel is very close to Termini station and metro station. The breakfast-room is small, but breakfast is fair enough. If I'll go to Rome again, I'll chose this hotel again.

Madison is an excellent place to stay if you want to travel by train. It is very clean, comfortable and has a good breakfast. Only one thig is very, very bad: the people who serve the breakfast. I don't know because they were angry. But I'll recomemded this hotel and Venere too. Thank you. Raquel

For the price we'd paid location, breakfast and room was ok. But to get a good room we'd to look 3 rooms before, and there were a problems in each: not working conditioner or it works only for heating, great noise from the backyuard from working hotel's equipment, not working freeze, etc. And, of cause, you should ask for the room on the upper floors:4 and +.

I checked out of the hotel on Sunday morning and reaslised when I got back to ireland that I had left my mobile phone in the Hotel. My daughter has tried to contact the hotel on a numerous of occasions via e mail and by phone left several messages but no one has been back in touch yet, I am highly annoyed by this and will not be recommending the hotel to anyone I know.

Location was perfect, rooms were lovely and the breakfast was gorgeous. Me and my friend were put in a double room on the first night and aked to be moved to a twin, so the next day while we were out they arranged to channge our room and even moved our luggage for us! Just an example of the service given! I would definately recommend this hotel.

The rooms are clean but welcoming very unkind and cold. No explanaition at all. They give you your key and...don"t even say on wich floor you have to go. Quality of tv was very bad : no good image. But very well located, very easy to reach by train, bus, metro. Breakfast very very sweet, not many salty dishes. Even coffee not excellent...as we are in the country of capuccino !!! We weren't expecting much from our hotel ...thanks God ! Picture on the web is a bit different because the room seems much bigger as wat we have really and you can't see how old and damadged are the walls. Pitty.

The rooms were small and the bathroom had barely enough room to move around. I literally had to sit sideways to use the toilet because the tub was in the way.

Very good situated by central railwaystation. Lot of noise caused by traffic for passengers to leave/ just arrive at Termini. Bad breakfast, but no problem: there is a good bar on the corner.

Hotel Madison represented a solid value in Rome - right next to Termini station. Our room was nice and clean, though it was missing a shower curtain and some channels did not come in clearly on TV. The location is convenient for getting to and from FCO cheaply and easily. We wound up using the Leonardo Express to get to the airport, and simply walked across the street to the station

There is nothing special in this hotel. You can hear people from another room easily when they talk. That's quite bad. The maid will disturb you everyday if you dont go out cuz they really want to clean your room. Comepare the price and quality of hotel I must say..No

The location is very good, it is next to the train station, close to public transports. The hotel is nice, the room was clean and big. The price was good because we stayed there in a low-price season, otherwise it may be quite expensive.

The breakfast was very, very good, exceeding espectations. We felt the hotel met our expectations in all other areas. Our biggest disappointment was our friends new, expensive camera was stolen from their room the first day of our stay. We suggest no one leave valuables in the room unattended.

Very good location for station and airport drop off. Some very good restaurants off the main road.No bar, which is listed as a facility(not good when young children in family need to be in bed early)Bedroom window opened onto a very grim enclosed couryard,so don't go for the view.Breakfast is adequate but there is no personal touch at all.

Frequent visitor to Rome. I think you are getting what you pay for at this hotel. The price is fair, and the location is excellent. There was water damage (stains) to the room walls, and the bed was not terribly comfortable. That being said, it compares favorably against other hotels in the area.

I chose this hotel because I needed to be near Termini but got more out of it than the ideal location. Like other guests I would emphasise not to be put off by the exterior, which looks quite shabby, as the inside is excellent. Very good value for money and close to some very good restaurants.

The hotel was very close to termini train station -right across the road in fact! The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious. The breakfast was good and very plentiful. Overall we had a good stay here, the area is not the nicest though, it tends to be a bit seedy at night. You need to get a bus into the centre of Rome though as it is at least a 30 minute walk. The staff at the front desk could also have been more helpful.

Best thing about this hotel is the proximity to the station - literally across the road. Interesting part of town - always something going on - traffic, people etc. Don't stay here if you want a quiet break! Overall, hotel is adequate but a bit tatty and dull. Staff do what they have to do but there is little personal touch or interest. They basically offer an acceptable standard for the huge number of tourists passing through. Somewhere to put your head down that is convenient and adequate but not somewhere to treat yourself.

Accepting the type of hotel it is, and that we wanted to be near the station and buses for the airport, we were disappointed with the hotel. The noise at night was awful. And I mean noise from the hotel, not from outside. We were put on the top floor, which means you hear motors running. Not sure what they were, lift, aircon. Result however was bad and means you struggle to sleep. Also the plumbing noise is bad as well. You can hear people in their barhrooms! Apart from this, the hotel was find, maybe on the lower floors it would be OK.
