Canada, Jul 2009
Welcoming arrival complete with an orientation to the neighborhood and advice for getting around. Interesting mix of guests, we were 2 families with kids, but most of the other travelers were university students spending the summer in Europe. Mostly this worked very well as the students were respectful and even played some soccer in the lovely little courtyard where breakfast is served. One obnoxious student on the last night was loud and brash (and had drunk too much), but he wound up being appropriately handled by the other students and we older guests, and ultimately by the management in the morning. He wasn't simply going to pay for the mirror he broke, no he was going to spend a morning of his vacation nursing a whopping hangover and going with the host to buy a new one. A challenging situation well handled. We chose the Lodi as we want to have a more authentic experience when we travel abroad and avoid the big box hotels. The Lodi was a great place to start our 5 week Italian vacation and I would recommended this to young backpackers and those of us who did the backpacking trip to Europe many years ago (25) and want to relive the experience in greater comfort, and with a few more amenities.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Great no nonsense B&B accessible easily to central Roma and at an excellent price. We stayed as a family of 2 adults and 3 small children in the quad room easily. Hotel Lodi was clean and everything worked.

We stayed in double room with the bathroom. Bathroom didn't include toilet, but there was one in shared bathroom near on the floor. The room and bathroom was clean, but quite small. The bad was made every day. The walls of bathroom were not till the ceiling, so bathroom was kinda part of the room. All the rooms with bathroom are facing the street, which is pretty noisy, we couldn't sleep without earplugs. The stuff was nice and helpful. There are 2 computers with internet to use in the hotel, and a very nice garden for the breakfast. There's also a kitchen open to use for guests. The neighborhood is nice, you can find a supermarket near, and tickets for the bus. Overall we enjoyed our stay there.

The employees were wonderful. However, the website should be clearer that this is essentially a hostel for young travelers on a budget. I would not recommend it for families. The accommodations are very basic and reminded me of the kind of place I stayed in Europe when I was a poor student traveling in the late 80s. The bathroom in particular was substandard, and the beds were hard as boards. It bears repeating, though, that the employees were extremely helpful and accommodating.

The staff was tremendously helpful about finding our way around Rome; the accomodations were small but comfortable. A great stay!

My sisters and I were very pleased with Hotel Lodi. Upon our arrival, the desk clerk offered to carry our bags to our room and he brought us water. Our room and the bathroom were decently sized. The whole bathroom, in fact, became the shower, but the water pressure was great. The hotel is situated in a more residential area, with easy access to all of Rome's sites. My sisters and I enjoyed the quiet hotel location (it made for especially relaxing breakfasts on the terrace). We also appreciated the time the hotel clerk took to familiarize us with a map of the city, the bus and metro stops, and the hours of tourist locations. The hotel staff spoke english and made us feel at home. Any questions or requests were immediately addressed. Overall, the hotel was very quiet, but was clearly being enjoyed by all types of tourists. Also staying at the hotel were young backpackers, a family with young children, a family with older children, and a mature couple. I would definitely recommend Hotel Lodi to anyone! One tip: print a pretty detailed map of the area so as you walk from the bus stop, you don't get lost!

Realy nice emloyees and owners,we liked this old town house whit a garden to take de breakfast under exotic vegetation arround us. If you are note used to live in town you hear the cars at night. We was happy to find this place. Super ambiance, chaleureux.Jardin exotique et genial pour p'tit déj,bruit de la ville, pour ce qui ne sont pas habituer. A recommander.... Toppen ställe, jätte trevlig ägare, härlig trädgârd för frukost.Man hör bilarna pâ natten om man inte är van att bo i en stad. Stället kommer att bli bättre o bättre för ägarna har en massa projekt i detta gamla stora hus.

Hotel Lodi was a good value for the money based on my experience with European hotels. Very clean and the staff is wonderful. The hotel is located immediately inside the original southeast wall of the city which not only provided a historical feel, but also served as a great way to get your bearings. Traveling into the major sights in Rome was very easy using a combination of the bus and metro, and the great information from the hotel staff. It felt very safe and the staff definitely made an effort to make us as welcome as possible. The beds were very clean and comfortable, but some of the other furniture was not in great shape, and our particular room was pretty noisy. Despite some of the drawbacks, for the price Hotel Lodi exceeded our expectations and was a very positive part of our Rome experience.

Basic accomodation. Though not the cheapest price was reasonable by rome standards. Ideal for backpackers looking for hostel like accomodation or travellers on budget. Area however is not the best area in rome, but good bus connections are available and is a short taxi ride from Rome termini

I stayed with my 2 daughters aged 13 and 11 for 4 nights. The room and hotel in general is basic, but the staff were fantastic and more than made up for any shortfalls with the building. The staff were friendly, helpful, informative, and saved me half a day by giving me a brief guide on what to see and when, what bus ticket to buy, bus numbers etc, weather forecast, where to eat locally. I cant speak highly enough about them. The breakfast was good, croissant, biscuits, juice, coffee. The location of the hotel was perfect too. A residential area, only a bit of traffic noise. 2 minutes walk from the bus, metro was 1 stop on the bus. I felt safe walking around at night. All in all thouroughly enjoyed our stay

The Lodi staff were friendly and helpful well above our expectations. We interacted mostly with Ali who's English was excellent. We enjoyed breakfast in the garden and free internet access. The location is in a residential area of Rome with safe on-street parking, ten minute walk to the metro and buses, 20 minute walk to the Coluseum. The local stores and restaraunts cater mostly to local residents, not tourists. The only downside was early morning traffic noise with the window open in our street-side and street-level room.

Nice, basic hotel. Very helpful manager/staff - excellent at giving directions and tips. Big downside is location - can walk to main train station but takes about 25 minutes (also takes this long to the nearest underground stop) Can be big problem late at night, although there are night buses these aren't as frequent as the day ones and the station is not an ideal place to be hanging around at 2am.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Ali at the front desk was great, giving us a personalized map of Rome and dinner recommendations each night. Breakfast each morning in the courtyard was a great start to the day, and their cappuccino was very yummy! The hotel is on the bus routes, and walking distance from the Metro, but not near any of the major attractions. The rooms were average size and very clean. There is free WiFi in the rooms as well.

Close to several bus lines with easy access to central Rome. The service was outstanding and very attentive. A warm welcome at arrival was greatly appreciated. The staff made sure we were comfortable and were well oriented for sightseeing throughout the city.

Stayed 3 nights in Jan. The first night we got a LARGE room (due to overbooking). That room was excellent, the shower was the warmest and most powerful we had during our whole 3-week italy-trip. =) The next 2 nights we got a VERY small room. The water in its shower was icy cold, so was the water in the public shower =( The location is ok, breakfast nice and service friendly and accurate =)
