Hotel Reviews Lirico

Centrally located and easy walk to Termini. Small rooms and bathrooms. Double room for single use about right. Excellent reception and service from personnel. Dont go to restaurant recommended in via Napoli. It was below par and also I was shortchanged. Breakfast of good standard for usual continental type but room is small and can feel crowded. Try to stagger your breakfast time and it is OK. I knew about the steps to first floor reception but people with difficulties in handling luggage would find this a bother. Rome is expensive so overall it is a good small hotel in a convenient position. I would stay there again.

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Lirico. Tony and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great for visiting the city by bus or metro and the breakfast was a great start to the day. Only negative is the flight of stairs from street level to reception, my Mum (70) found them tough going. We ate at a small restaurant on Via Viminale towards the termini, restaurant Alessi (I think), great food and value for money, about 2 mins from the hotel. Overall we had a wonderful stay in Rome and would definitely use Hotel Lirico again.

First time we have visted this hotel and after a 26 hrs flight, it was nice to be able to leave our bages there while we expolored Rome for a day. Conveniently located within walking distance from train station - helpful and extremely friendly staff. The room was small but nicely furnished and the ceilings were high which gave it the impression it was bigger than it was - bathroom was actually quite spacious. The only real negative was that we heard the area was not that safe at night (we did not feel unsafe though that night) and they did not offer to talk our heavy bags up to our room. Would definately stay here again however due to its location to train station (5 minute walk with bags) and the friendly staff

Bathroom are too small to be beleived I couldnt take proper shower . The hotel elevator is 2 floors above so you have to carry luggage for 2 floors before you get on escalator thats painful. Way too expensive for the typw of hotel. Location of hotel is ok.Definately hotel is not worth 110(E) a night.

Situated next to the Opera, the hotel is just a short walk from Termini station and main metro/bus routes. You will be greeted warmly by Tony and the other staff - all friendly and polite. Rooms are typically 'compact & bijou' but spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, with a safe (€2.50 per day), aircon and ensuite shower/WC. Rooms are cleaned daily, with crisp cotton sheets and a lovely firm bed too!!!! Buffet style continental breakfast is simple and adequate, with fresh fruit and rolls, and the breakfast area is kept stocked & tidy by the pleasant staff. The hotel is convenient for all the main tourist attractions - Colosseum or Trevi Fountain are a 20 mins walk, or a 24hr bus/metro pass will cost just €4, useful for when the feet begin to ache! We opted for guided tours at the Colosseum & Palatine (€22), Vatican (€45) and Renaissance Rome (€45 including a meal) - not cheap, but you jump all the queues and get to see so much more of the essential historical facts & places. Just make sure you get an official tourist guide. Essentially this is a great value hotel in a good location at under €100 per night, and the staff are all helpful and pleasant. We would be delighted to stay here again!

Stanza accogliente con strepitosa vista sul teatro dell'Opera di Roma ( n°211!), molto puliti gli ambienti, ricca la colazione. Peccato solo che il bagno avesse una mezza vasca.Grazie per aver accolto le mie richieste.

We paid 99 Euro for a small room. Great rate thanks to Venere, but it definitely felt 2 star and not 3 star. Would have been satisfactory/OK due only to the low rate, until the morning of departure, when we had NO HOT WATER for the shower at 0515am. We let the water run for 15-20 minutes and there was no improvement. Extremely frustrating before a long flight home. I told the front desk I wanted money off of my room, they could not do anything and said they would tell the manager. Never heard anything so I contacted the manager from home. He said that the front desk was able to get hot water after I left (what good does that do us?), and since we didn't tell the front desk about the problem until we checked out (we had no time, had to make a flight), there was nothing they could do. They offered me a discount for my next stay. Extremely poor response to a basic hotel service issue, that made for a very unpleasant overall experience.

We stayed in Hotel Lirico in June 09 and were very pleased with it and its location. The stairs up to the hotel were a bit of a challenge but not really a problem for us. They have a lift inside to get to the rooms. Its location is excellent, especially as it's close to the main train station, which we needed. We walked from the train station to the hotel with our luggage. It's a fairly easy walk and the directions given on the web page were very good. We would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

The stairs were grotty, not like the photo. The room was so small you couldn't even put your suitcase down and open it. The breakfast room looked like a cantine, not like the photo!! Everything pre-packed and plastic jugs of juice. I would never stay there again.

This is a very nice hotell and our room was large and clean. The only possible negative part is that you have to "climb" the stairs from ground floor til first floor, so it may be a problem for disabled people. But than again, Rome may not be the easiest city to visit:)

My friends and I had an excellent stay in the Hotel Lirico at the end of November 2008. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable, and the staff were very kind, and very friendly. The hotel is ideally situated for a stay in Rome, most of the major tourist sights are within walking distance. If you don't want to walk, then the train and bus station are a few minutes at the end of the road. We will definitely stay in the Hotel Lirico on our next visit to wonderful Rome!

We stayed at Hotel Lirico for 4 nights. It is conviently located near the railway station and across the street from the Opera house. There are many restaurants close by.

A lovely hotel, nice staff and very neat bathrooms. The showers are a little squishy but perfectly suitable. The hotel is close to the main train station and only a 5 minute walk. The tourist buses also stop there so it is a prime location to base yourself if you want easy access to seeing the sites. They also recommend a little restaurant around the corner. A nice cheap and cheerful place and worth a visit if you're on a budget. The stairs that take you from the front door up to reception are not as bad as I pictured from reading the reviews. I found it a great hotel, easy to find and I would stay there again for sure.

The hotel's reception is on the 2nd floor of the building and there's no lift to go upstairs with your baggage. You have to go to a bar nearby the hotel to have your breakfast 'cause there is no room to have it at the hotel (even it is included in the price...), workers in that bar are very unpolite.

location is good: not far from Termini train station, but rather far from station's noise and hobos. Staff is helpful and friendly. Triple room is spacious and clean. But room's lighting is inadequate. During the time of our stay the breakfast room was under renovating and we had to go cafe outside where breakfasts were poor for men: one cup of tea or cofee, one croissant, one yoghurt, glass of orange juice.

This hotel is very good value for money and perfetly located close to the railway station. It is an easy stagger from the station with luggage, although the front steps can be a little daunting for the heavily laden. The rooms were clean and functional, although like many Roman hotels in this price range, they were not very roomy. Breakfast was plentiful and quite good quality. The location, next to the Opera House, is ideal for exploring Roman sites and is in quite a nice part of town.

I was a solo traveler. Had a gracious welcoming from 'Tony'. He was wonderful and you can tell he enjoys people. The hotel is just a few minute, easy walk from Termini. Cafe Chirra and supermarket next door. A great place to stay. There is a long set of stairs leading up to the first floor lobby, so pack light. But, location is perfect for jumping on the Metro, restaurants, cafes, etc. Also, the hot water was consistent and good shower pressure. I could only recommend they get a english speaking television channel. There was one, but I think it was MTV. I would have preferred CNN or something.

Good price, location, and amenities for Rome. Don't go with the tour bus the front desk sells you tickets for, though. They are too hard to find compared to others out there. The only other problem we had was with the wifi - which was a problem for us at most of the hotels that advertised having it in every room. But then vacations aren't for being online... they're for being in the moment. And what better place than in Rome!

Great hotel, lovely location - surprisingly near to the Colosseum, nice quiet road. Man at reception was very helpful (recommending places to eat, buses etc.). A tip for anyone going to watch a Roma football match (I highly recommend it and I'm not even into football) catch the 910 bus from the Termini direct to the Stadio Olympico. It is difficult to find out this info! Breakfast was included and they serve lovely coffee and hot choc with it. Small room but beautifully clean and nicely furnished with a large double bed. Felt safe walking around at night. Would recommend it!

Staff all wonderful, just ask any questions (in English!), and their local knowledge is vast. Rooms fine if a little antequated. We had no car and walked to all the sites we wanted to see. Vatican was the furthest at about 90 minutes walk! Take it slowly and indulge in ice-cream. 2 miutes walk from bus and train station, trains cheap and adequate.

We stayed in Florence for 4 nights at a great hotel (Hotel Laurus) and in Rome at Lirico for 3 nights. The rooms at Lirico are clean, the staff was nice, but not particularly sharp or outwardly helpful. The room was the smallest place I've ever stayed in, and the shower was the size of a small coat closet. If you drop the soap, you practically have to step out of the shower to get it (because the shower walls are so close together), then step back in, and I'm an average sized guy! The air conditioner and TV didn't work the entire time, and you have to pay to use the TV, when it is working. Luckily, the night air was perfect for sleeping, but the noise was annoying (people yelling, dogs barking, trucks unloading, etc., etc.). All in all it was safe and clean, but next time I'll spend a little more to have a little better room.

The only problem I had with Lirico revolved around their airport shuttle service. It is mentioned as a provided service on their Venere description, but what they really provide is the ability to arrange for a driver to pick you up at the airport, for which you will have to pay (50 Euro plus tip in my case). This would not have been a problem if I had known up front that this was going to be the case, but I did not have Euros on me and this marred what would have been a perfectly fine experience. Other than that, the service was good (the night front desk manager was particulary helpful) and breakfast was good.

While the hotel was in a good location and the rooms were better than adequate, it was a little disconserting to have to walk up a fairly long set of stairs with luggage to reach the lobby. The website did not mention there was not an elevator to the lobby or that the intial climb was significant to reach the lobby. For those who are physicall fit or not elderly, this is not a significant problem, but for others it was. The rooms were smaller than expected and two people had to be careful not to knock into one another, but they were clean and comfortable. When you consider one does not come to Rome to say in a hotel all day, I'd say the hotel was fine.

Very good location for access to all main tourist sites and within walking distance of Termini station. Very quiet and peaceful at night despite central location. Staff friendly and helpful when required but not obtrusive. Breakfast and breakfast room just adequate. Bar area not really a bar area but a place to buy a drink and then sit at what are actually the breakfast tables - no comfortable chairs or sofas. Entrance stairs a bit daunting when carrying luggage and no lift facility to reception. However represents good value for money if a base for sightseeing is all that is required. A very good Pizzeria close by.I would se it again.

We thought the hotel was exactly how it was described on Venere.com. The location was close to the stores, sights and bus stations, not to mention the train station. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were a little tight and small, but very clean and well maintained. The elevator is small, so please be sure to not pack huge oversized suitcases. However the elevator situation seemed very typical all across Italy. Again this hotel would be highly recommended and we would certianly stay there again given the opportunity.

Enjoyed our stay at Lirico. We haven't stayed at a hotel in Italy before so we can't really compare Lirico to another hotel of course. The location was good, nice and quiet and reasonably close to Termini Station. The only thing that we thought was really poor was the breakfast; coffee absolutely awful and a pretty poor variety of things to eat, but maybe that's all you get in an Italian hotel at that price. We would be more than happy to stay at the Lirico next time in Rome too.

Hotel location was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and as we arrived after 1am, I had not expected any great degree of customer service. However, receptionist was awaiting our arrival, and check-in was fast and efficient. Map given to us at the hotel was the best of any seen in a guide book and luggage can be left in foyer on departure. Only drawback is spaciousness of rooms and dining areas etc. is rather exaggerated in photographs compared to reality as the hotel is quite small. Overall though very good and I would stay there again.

The only major disapointment was no hot water on the morning of our departure. Very inconvenient.

Great little hotel in a very convenient location for the station and easy walking to the main tourist sights. My room was very small but very clean and well maintained and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. Good value for money - I'd use it again without a doubt.

The room was rather small, and the map located it on the wrong side of the street on the wrong block.

Very clean room. Employees are very friendly. We've got a pushchair but no lift from the ground to the lobby. Nothing special for the breakfast. Generally I like it, will consider for the next chance.

The Hotel Lirico was a lovely little hotel, with good friendly service and well located for all the main attractions within easy walking distance. There are some excellent restaurants and bars close by with some really atmospheric Tratoria

Very pleasant place! Very good location for both coming from the Termini station (very short walk) and sightseeing! Rooms are quite small but nice and perfectly clean. Employees are very nice. We'll go back there!

A well run hotel with very helpful staff especially at reception. The bar was very small and not over stocked. There was no means to make tea or coffee in the rooms (is that the norm in Italy) and don't plan to have a hot shower first thing in the morning, I would stay there again,it is ideal for eating houses and transport.

Very small rooms but very clean in an excellent location for all major sight seeing. A little noisy right off the street but tolerable. Would definetly reccomend to other couples on a budget wanting a clean nice place to stay while experiencing all there is to do in Rome.

The room was very small for the three of us, barely room to put down our suitcases, but very nicely decorated. The staff wasn't very nice. The location was great, very close to everything. It was very clean. Breakfast was very good.
