Hotel Lilium - Rome
Via Venti Settembre 58a - Rome
877-662-6988The hotel boasts a great location and is well served by the local transport system, providing an ideal base from which to discover all that the Eternal City has to offer.
The Lilium is a welcoming 3 star hotel set in a magnificent historic building, and offers charmingly furnished accommodation, a very tranquil ambiance and above all, quiet and attentive service.
The staff were lovely and a great non tourist area but still close enough to everything if you are happy to walk. Breakfast was fantastic, can't complain about fresh...

The staff were lovely and a great non tourist area but still close enough to everything if you are happy to walk. Breakfast was fantastic, can't complain about fresh bread rolls, top quality ham and large chucks of soft cheese with pastries and coffee to follow. The rooms were quaint, our only complaint is the beds are really basic and not very comfy. We spoke not much Italian but had no problem comunicating with the staff.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Lilium. The staff was very friendly and helpful and extremely respectful. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know. For our needs the location was perfect, as we like to be close to things but not on top of them. Everything was within walking distance for us, but using the bus, taxis and private cars are all accessable(sp?). A very nice, pleasant stay!

Very nice hotel for a female or group of females. It was extremely clean and beautifully decorated. Not sure a man would love it as much as I did. I was stopping over to catch the train to the airport and it was exactly what i was looking for as far as cleanliness and good design.

Impressed by previous reviews, hence our booking. Absolutely delighted! The bijoux setting was lovely, the location excellent and quiet, our room (with bath) spacious and bright, the ambience terrific and the "staff" brilliant, efficient and most friendly. They recommended Trattoria Cadorna and La Perntolaccia nearby: reasonable, authentic and superb. Stay at Lilium! You could or would not regret it. 10/10. We will certainly return.

The room was stylish in a simple way, it was even better than we expected. The stand out was the staff (people at the desk and breakfast room)- they were really friendly and helpful. A very pleasant place to stay. No problems accessing any of the historical sites and transport. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes nearby. We would definitely come back.

Lovely decoration throughout and helpful and pleasant staff. The location is a little way out of town but on many bus routes, and a 15 minute walk from Termini. Still possible to work into town, however. Many restaurants locally, and a relatively quiet residential area. Some noise from the street if you are in an outside room, but doesn't continue late. Would stay there again.

Had lovely, brief stay at the Hotel Lilium. Exceedingly convenient to the train station without being in a questionable area. Only minor complaint is the difficulty finding it. You need to know that there will be NO exterior sign, only a name by a call button at the door. Admittedly, we were tired after a long day when we were looking but it did take us a while to find it! Room smallish but quite comfortable. Bathroom and shower bigger than average and quite clean. Lovely breakfast and a lovely cheerful area. Have already recommended it to friends.

This was our first stay at the Hotel Lilium. A very quirky and unusual looking hotel. I found it to be absolutely charming, loved the decor, fixtures and fittings etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a short break in Rome; I would certainly stay there again even if I do have to climb the 3 flights of stairs again (lift available).

Hotel Lilium was EXCELLENT! The staff was very attentive, knowledgeable and eager to assist with anything we needed. The hotel is as lovely in person as the pictures. When we return to Rome, we will be staying here again. The price was reasonable for Rome and the hotel and staff were spectacular. I took another visitors suggestion & asked for a quite room, which was quieter than my house. With a quite room, however, you give up the view of the city. So if you are coming from a quite place, ask for a quite room. If you are used to a bit of street noise, go for the view (they are spectacular!). The hotel is centrally located, walking distance to everything, but if you are staying in Rome for more than 2 days, I suggest you get the Roma Pass, can be purchased at any information booth in the city. Provides unlimited public transport for 3 days (get a metro map and a bus map - really easy to use both). It also gets you free entry into 2 museums. My husband and I went to the Colosseum and the Forum for free, even better, we skipped the lines, which was worth more than the entry price. We probably saved 3 hrs between both. I would also suggest getting early to the popular sites (Colosseum, Forum, Vatican) after 9am, the people and lines are crazy.

I stayed at the hotel for a week in mid Sept My room was small with a nice balcony and very clean with a helpful staff, though limited English. They gave me a choice of room location and I opted for an interior one b/c of the balcony. I liked practicing my Italian with the staff, all of whom seemed very nice. The room did have a safe and frigo bar. Sat tv only afforded BBC. Window panes are not soundproof and hotel is on busy street.Nevertheless, they do "little decorative things" to give a personal feeling. Beware if you have ambulatory challenges that it does have an elevator, but you must hike two floors to get to it. It's located on the 3rd floor of a building which is utilized by other businesses. Many restaurants in the area and also a lavanderia and internet point nearby. Breakfast was basic but woman doing the caffe latte is superb. I probably would not return as its' price did not strike me as commensurate with its' location($190).

We encountered three staff members and found them to be friendly and professional. For the most part their English was very good. The hotel is located on a wide, busy street, very good for bus access but not a lot of local residents milling about. The breakfasts were lovely with a selection of pastries, yoghurt, juices, cereal and excellent cappuccino. We did not feel very comfortable walking about at night.

A very warm staff, location bit off of track for the mob scene tourist spots, great for the Borghese. And ready public transport across the street. The rooms are smallish but fine. Balcony room was exactly as expected and pictured. The sitting room and breakfast room were wonderfully light and welcoming. And the desk folks were each very kind and sweet...and terribly forgiving for our lack of Italian!

The front desk team was very helpful. All staff from front desk, breakfast team and even the cleaners were friendly and welcoming. The frontdesk also helped to look for the most reasonable transport to the airport. It was most unfortunate that our last memory of Rome was the taxi driver who charged us more than the agreed rate advised by the Hotel.

Nice and attentive staff. We got an upgraded room due their availability. You may get puzzled in spotting the Hotel if you are not used its concept: Lilium is inside a nice and old building with a charming and antique elevator (actually I was looking for something on the sidewalk). You can witness how much the staff (or owners) cares about the property under details like beautifully set flower pot, general organization and cleanless, readiness, breakfast, etc.

LILIUM IS WONDERFUL, A DREAM, HEAVEN IN ROME. THE BEST HOTEL I'VE EVER BEEN IN ROME. THE PARROTS IN THE LOBBY, THE COLOURS, THE EXTREME KINDNESS. INCREDIBLE!!! LITTLE BUT WONDERFUL ROOMS! BREAKFAST ROOM: a tale ... Grazie a VENERE x avermi fatto scegliere LILIUM!

What a charming boutique hotel! Staff could not have been more helpful. Public areas are lovely and bright, excellent breakfast. Rooms were very well appointed (mine had a tub!). Free DSL (they even had laptops for loan for 1 hr per room per day, but I brought my own and a cable). Remote controls for ceiling fans, tv and air conditioning were a welcome plus. This is a hidden gem. Excellent price for any european city, but especialy Rome. Bus stops right outside, but everything is in walking distance.

Hotel Lilium was all that the website promised. The staff was warm, helpful and welcoming. The price was an excellent value. The rooms and public areas were impeccably clean. The location was somewhat off the beaten path (which was nice as we were able to see how the 'locals' lived), but the buses were conveniently located and easy to figure out. We would definitely recommend the Lilium and would stay there again should we return.

It was our first time in Rome, couldn't have been better, the stay was excellent. That was just what we expected; familiar little hotel, beautiful, though a little bit small rooms, and very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel Lilium is a nice place. The service is very pleasant and the breakfast excellent for Italy. It is one of the cleanest hotel I have never seen. Our bedroom had a charming small balcony equiped with table and chairs. The only drawback was that the room for 3 people we rent was small and we had difficulties to store our cloths and suitcases.

With plenty of hotel research behind my belt I was ready to press the reserve button for the Hotel Lilium. Of course, not without being slightly nervous due to the fact that I had never stayed there or even been to Italy for that matter. With so many varied reviews, who knows what you're going to get. With a little faith I went ahead and booked, I mean it's not like we'd be in there the whole time! Upon arrival we couldn't have been more pleased. OK, so the hotel signage isn't completely obvious, but that's what maps are for. Anyway, the moment we walked in we were taken back. The hotel staff were pleasant and very helpful. The decor is beautiful, far more stylish that the photos portray. The rooms were small, but clean and very, very cool (as in awesome). We loved the morning breakfast, (you're in Italy so don't expect bacon and eggs, save that for home.)light, but delicious and well presented. Only a 10-15 minute walk to the major tourist destinations and close to the metro. I could go on and on about the loveliness of this hotel, but hopefully you'll see for yourself. Thank you very much to the staff at the Hotel Lilium, you exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend you to anyone visiting Rome.

This hotel is far removed from the officiousness of big chain hotels. Lilium is a small, quaint little establishment with unusual, cheery decor and extremely friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is located on the top floor of a residential type building on Via XX Setembre, within a court yard and through a heavy wooden door that you need to buzz the receptionist to have opened. It might prove difficult for special needs persons to take the marble steps up to the antiquated and small elevator but personally we liked this unusual set up. The room was pretty small but brightly decorated and ours had a small balcony for some fresh air. The wooden painted wardrobes and furniture were lovely. Everything was very clean and couldn't be faulted, except perhaps the fact there was only one electrical socket. The staff were friendly and courteous and we loved the semi-informal way the hotel does business. Breakfast, incl. in our price, is a combo of various cereals, cold meats, fresh bread rolls and a superb coffee or cappucino served by an instantly likeable, efficient and friendly waitress who got each day off to a good start. The budgies in the cage outside the breakfast room are friendly too. Location-wise it's about 15-20 mins walk from the main attractions but our view on this was that there's little point in visiting somewhere and not getting your feet dirty seeing what there is to see off the beaten track. We didn't consider the location a hindrance at all but older clients or those who insist on zero walking might prefer somewhere more central. Overall, we loved the Lilium hotel and were only sorry that we had just the three nights in Rome. Price-wise, it's expensive at EUR660 for 3 nights but that's typical for Rome so we'd accept that. If we ever return I doubt we'd bother sourcing another hotel now that we've found this one at first go. Oh and lest we forget, be sure to eat at least once in "Est! Est! Est!" on Via Genova!!

We stayed here twice. Our first stay was in a room at the back, which was very quiet and had a lovely balcony. Our second stay was in a room overlooking a busy street, no balcony and was noisy. Location - had trouble finding the hotel. The only sign was a small one right beside the door of a shared entrance, requiring use of a buzzer. Price - quite expensive compared to equivalent rooms elsewhere in Italy, but maybe that's just Rome. Staff - were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The Lilium provided another dimension to our Italy accomodations experience-being on the 3rd floor of a building with a marble staircase and a "cage-like" elevator to use. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast hostess made the greatest cappucino and fresh squeezed orange juice. The views from the windows were wonderful. A great little hotel with character and in a very easy spot to get around to/from by bus. Quite a few good restuarants within a block of the hotel. Clean, modern and with rooms fairly large for Rome (though still small by US standards). Caution to visitors who take the train from the airport - the Termini station is huge, but the place that the airport train ends is right at the bottom of the station at the seediest end (especially at night). Walk through the station (follow signs for the Metro) rather than leave the station and walk the 1km of so to the same place.

The Lilium Hotel is a little gem, situated in an excellent location for seeing the sights. The Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and Via Veneto are all within walking distance. There is also a bus stop outside the door which takes you direct to the Vatican,Museums and Sistine Chapel. The Hotel also has an arrangement with a tour company who pick you up at the front door for guided tours of the Pantheon, Forum, Colliseum etc. The decor and ambience are delightful, with amazing attention to detail and the breakfast is well worth getting up for. Brilliant Cappucino, Warm Croissants and excellent Buffet, all served in a fabulous breakfast room with lovely views on to the Via 22 Settembre. The staff are all extremely helpful and pleasant.

This was a lovely little hotel, located on the third floor of an apartment building. A bit hard to find, but nice and well situated for access to downtown. I think it was a bit overpriced for what you get -- and the decor was quite 'precious', including shiny purple floors in the foyer! But overall quite pleasant as a place to stay. The staff were very kind and helpful. Goregeous flower arrangments, and flower-themed room decor. Scent of lillies everywhere, which I personally enjoyed.

We enjoyed our stay in Hotel Lilium very much. It is beautifully decorated and the room was very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help, and they spoke English very well. The breakfast room is something special with a breakfast better than the continental norm. We would definetly return and recommend it. We were looking for a clean, comfortable place and found it. We love to walk, so we didn't mind the 15 minutes walk from the main attractions (Spanish Steps, etc...). They were doing some work on the breakfast room when we were there, so can not comment on that.

The hotel was clean and I liked the fresh flowers, love birds in the lobby, cute elevator, and the painted decor. The service was very good. They lent me a laptop and I had free internet access in my room throughout my stay, which was a great touch. I didn't mind that we had to go around the corner for breakfast in the morning, since it was just as comfortable. I'd stay there again. I only wish I had been able to get a room that faced the interior courtyard.

Lilium was an excellent, basic hotel for our two nights in Rome. My wife and I had spent 6 weeks studying in Rome before and just wanted a nice room for a short return. The hotel was in excellent shape and we were impressed to find that they offered free use of their laptop for internet connection. The breakfast room was under construction, which was a big disappointment, but they did offer vouchers for a breakfast at a nearby cafe. It was not as good as if the meal was at the hotel, but it was better than nothing. All in all, an excellent basic stay in a pretty expensive city.

My room was very small, doll's house type but very comfortable and in beautiful colors. The young employeers were very polite. No bar inside the hotel is terrible !

Fist of all, employees are very kind. They had solved our troubles with enthusiasm. Although breakfast should be taken at a near restaurant, the restaurant is very close to the hotel and foods such sandwich and bread and the cappuccino are quite good for us. Our room was somewhat noisy due to cars passing by.

The hotel is very lovely! Individual hotel taken care of by a "lovely hand". My room going out to the street was unfortunately noisy, since the windows had "single glass" only. But there are rooms going to the other side: ask for one of those when making reservations. In general this hotel is a real "secret" tip and for a city like room prices are good.

Beautiful, Well Designed modern hotel in an interesting building. Friendly staff and good location far enough away from the main train station but close enough for convenience. A little difficult to find at first.

Caratteristico.

The hotel lobby and rooms are lovely, all newly decorated with brights and pastels which makes it look nice and fresh. I was disappointed to hear that the hotel could not provide breakfast as it was not yet licensed when I arrived at the hotel. It should be told at the time of booking as breafast is included in the price. We had to go to a bar on the street corner which was not ideal or very nice. The staff at the hotel are very nice, helpful and have recommended good restaurants. I would go back to this hotel if it was nearer to the center of Rome and it served breakfast in the hotel.

This is a small hotel with tiny rooms. My hotel in florence was much bigger, nicer, in center of everything and cheaper. It is not a cheap hotel by any means but we were very dissapointed when we arrived at our room. I knew that european hotels have small rooms but There was NO room to place two small luggages! my luggage was stuck between a window and my side of bed and my boy friends was stuck somewhere on his side of bed and a closet. with our suitcases open, we could not walk around. Our terrace was okay but we wished we had more room than a terrace. Also breakfast area was under construction which we were not informed. So to eat breakfast, we had to go down and go to a cafe around the corner every morning. Simply, my stay in rome at Lilium was not at all a value nor pleasant. We felt that we overpaid for what we got.

I was extremely please with Hotel Lilium. It was immaculate. The decor was beautiful and it was nicely furnished. I would absolutely return to this lovely find. I definitely highly recommend it. It is a great place to stay for shopping in Via Veneto. The comments on this site helped me (and the taxi driver) find the hotel near Via Piave. Another bit of helpful information is that the hotel is on the third floor of a palazzo with no external sign. You have to be buzzed in at the main door so don't worry that you are in the wrong place - just check the residents' intercom panel on the right of the main door. The only down side as a single traveller was getting my luggage up the first flight of stairs to get to the elevator - Hotel is on the third floor.

Really friendly, personable staff. Breakfast room was not completed during my stay but they provided coupons for the cafe around the corner. Nice decor, especially in hallways, common areas. Pretty isolated area, but hotel itself was really great.

I have no problem reccomending this hotel. Everything was clean and nice. Much more than I had expected from a two star hotel. Big plus for both fan in the ceiling, air conditioning as well as safety deposit box in the room. My room faced a street corner, where Via Vente Settembre has a lot of traffic. There where some noice, but had no problem to fall asleep. From what I saw they have inward facing rooms as well, with balcony. I stayed one week and the room was cleaned every day. Everyone was helpful, even not everyone had good knowlege in English. Breakfast was served at the bar at street level. Nice people, and you can almost have what you like. The hotel is a bit from the big "must see" places. However there is a bus stop just outside, and you will be at Termini in 2-3 minutes.10-15 minutes nice walk to Piazza Venezia. I was really surprised by the standard, and I had a very nice stay.

A quiet retreat in the hustle bustle of Rome. Small but beautiful room and balcony. Incredibly clean and well cared for. Delightful lobby, halls and breakfast room. I loved the smell of fresh flowers! Very helpful staff. We will definitely be back and will recommend friends.

The staff were fantastic, most welcoming, very friendly & able to answer all my questions. My only complaint was I found the hotel difficult to find, the map from you website was not precise enough, the hotel is near the corner of Via Piave.
