Overall good stay. We were on the 5th floor so we weren't near a lobby, so we didn't have a problem with the noise in that respect. The doors to the rooms don't close very quietly so turn your key as you close it so it closes quietly. Some other grumpy guest yelled at us for "slamming doors", so try to avoid it. Our shower had very little pressure and it often became luke warm after a medium length shower. Otherwise we had a good stay. Close to the termini station and another metro stop.

The location of the hotel is its biggest advantage and the price is relatively low for the area, while it is not the best value for money i have found here so far. There is no breakfast and the rooms are only reasonably clean. I found a few hairs in the shower that were not mine but in general the place did not look dirty. The biggest disadvantage of my single room was the spaciousness of the bath. In room 509 you literally could take a shower while sitting on the toilet. All in all i can recommend the place if you are travelling on a budget and don't spend much time in the room. If you spend some more time on looking for hotels, there may be better ones for only little more money.

we found the hotel lazzari very good value .its very close to the main railway station approx 10 mins walk .theres only a brass plaque on the wall with the hotel name on it, so its easly missed.. look out for a double green canopy outside the building next door .if you want a budget hotel which is clean and close to main transport links you could do alot worse than the hotel lazzari

The cleanliness of the room is the most important thing I appreciated in my stay. I would recommend better set of instructions when entering the property (like the access to the main door from Via Castelfidardo and the use of the old, but lovely, elevator. I appreciate the warmth of the hotel personnel and the extra help they provided when I was in need of assistance. Oh, the breakfast should be upgraded. Coffee and croissant is just not enough.

Small elevator, barely two people fit in it. Spacious room, but small TV. I had a terrace in which I spent some time drinking wine with my wife during the night, which was nice. The shower is small, but it had a good water system. The Staff was nice and helpful.

We came back to the hotel one night and rang the bell to be let in, and a very rude and ignorant employee came onto the intercom asking if we were drunk..we were'nt..and he said that if we ring the bell again he won't let us in!!The hotel was nice but he was very rude to say that to us!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. We had a room on the fifth floor. There was old but nice elevator. The room has air condition and heating. In short, the staff was friendly, room was clean, bathroom, too. Although, bathroom was small. We did not have problem with that, someone might. The hotel is very close to Termini station. I can say that everything looks like on the web site. We did not ask for breakfast, there were so many things to see in Rome. Considering that hotels in Rome are very expensive we find our stay in this hotel very good deal.

Basic, clean, budget hotel. Less than 10 min walk to Termini Railway station and shopping centre, where you have access to local trains and tour buses. Breakfast is basic, croissant and coffee, but there are a few supermarkets close by. For Pizza and Pasta try the restaurants on the smaller roads, rather than the bigger ones. For young travellers, be sure to check out the Spanish Steps Pub Crawl, which is alot of fun and great for meeting others. Website www.bestofrome.it I will definately recommend this hotel and will be going back someday.

We were three Indian girls staying alone. Very safe hotel, very safe area - we would walk back from the Termini (about 5 mins walk) alone at night, and there was no untoward incidents. Breakfast was nothing spectacular, but that seems to be the case in most hotels in Rome. Room was clean, bathroom was clean. They have a locker in the room to store money, etc.

I have stayed in dozens of hotels in Rome over many years now, so I know how lackluster some can be, especially in this neighborhood. The Lazzari is well and pleasantly managed, conveniently located, and above all quiet at night. (my room was not above the street) I know people like to whine about breakfast, but this is a two star establishment, and provides the type of breakfast you would have if you enjoy Roman life.. at the cafe next door. For me it was not a problem. I highly recommend the Lazzari for the single traveler, or anyone looking for a well run, no-frills accommodation.

This was the first time I stayed in Lazzari. Although I have not seen at any hotel before, the hotel checked my credit card for available money (?) and when we arrived to check-in said they were about to cancel our reservation which is completely unacceptable. To check the money means they tried to withdraw many without my approval. He said we were "lucky" to find a room there. The room was very noisy and the gentleman in the night shift did not speak even a little of English to help us in not delivering our car to the municipality police. This costed us an addional 70Euros of fine. Our room price is already 100 Euro.

This was a typical upper floor hotel in an older building. There is a small lift built into the middle of the stairwell. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and pleasant. Sprinkler systems and fire escapes did not seem important in any of the Rome hotels we stayed in. The lighting was adequate and everything worked. It was within easy walking distance of the train station.

Good situation, 5 min. from Termini and walking distance to Ancient Rome! In the neighboorhood nice , good and not expensive restaurants! We really enjoyed staying at Lazzari's and hoop to come again!

Like many hotels in Rome Lazzari is in a building with other establishments and is split between two floors, reception is on the second and our room was on the fifth floor. The location is convenient for the station and not too far to walk into the city centre. Breakfast is only a croissant and a cup of coffee in the bar next door so I would regard Lazzari as room-only with a small bonus rather than B&B. It was very clean and comfortable, possibly a bit over priced but certainly reliable, I would recommend it to others.

Great, budget hotel. The room was a really good size and it was only a 5/10 minute walk from Termini Station which was great for us. The area was OK but a little 'rough around the edges'. However - at such a good price we were expecting this might be the case. Certainly not dangerous but perhaps somewhere where lone females might feel a bit uncomfortable walking around on their own. Highly recommended for budget conscious travellers. Good clean basic facilities with a comfy bed and a smiling receptionist!

The room was very small, but I expected as much from reading other reviews. The welcoming staff wasn't very friendly, but the girl working the night shift was new and incredibly helpful. The location was okay if you don't mind a ten or so minute walk to the metro. There also seemed to be a lot of beggars and homeless people in the area, not enough so that we felt unsafe though. The price wasn't that great for what you get, but the air conditioning almost made up for it! If we're in Rome again, I think we'll try a different hotel for comparison sake.

pros: price, location, quietness, cleanliness, safety deposit box, nearby cheap and good restaraunt. cons: horrible view (room 512, back side facing a wall), front desk limited working hours (front desk services provided by other hotels located in the same building when the Lazzari front desk is closed) The most important advantage of Hotel Lazzari (apart from its price, which is excellent according to Rome standards) is its closeness not only to Termini (starting point of many bus routes) but to via 20 Settembre (less than 5min walk) where there is a bus stop for route 60something, I suppose 62 but I am not sure, that can get you to an area that attractions like Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna etc. lie within. I would recommend this hotel I a price close to 100 euros per day and easy access to the Historic Center are required.

In general, what sums up my review is that this hotel (I'm tempted to write hostel...) does NOT justify its cost. I don't know other Rome hotels, but of all Italy hotels I've been to (7), this has provided the least "bang for the buck", so to speak. The staff were nice and helpful, and helped us eith some trouble we had. But they were somewhat incompetent on the first day though. Upon arrival we had been ringing for 10 minutes outside until someone opened. They couldn't connect the room phone that day. Oh, and the water wouldn't drain in the shower. The sleepy night receptionist in pajamas was funny, too. "Breakfast" was far less than adequate, being comprised of a croissant and a cup of coffee, almost the least I received in just ANY hotel, EVER (surpassed only by a hostel in London and that says a lot). To close - If the price were 60€ per night, or if I were on a school trip, or a backpacker (as most other guests) I wouldn't criticise harshly. But for 100€? No way.
