The hotel met most of my needs. There were some areas that can be improve. No internet, this was a deal-breaker for me, would not stay here again for this reason. tiny shower stall even for a tall fit person like me. No key for front door, have to buzz doorbell. Located inside of a residential building. 1 small 4-person elevator. Electric outlet located behind nightstand not easily accessible. Located on a square, can be noisy for light sleepers. Metro entrance is only 6 steps from the hotel. 1 of 3 clerk speaks good english.

An excellent location of the hotel, the room was clean and spacious enough for two persons. We were welcomed in a professional but cold manner. Overall, a good experience. I would recommand this hotel as a typical three stars hotel.

Nice hotel for a short trip to rome. Bad things: air-conditioning doesn't work all day, employees don't speak English very well, the rooms to the street are very loud. Good things: there is a metro station in front of the hotel, lots of good coffee and ice bars, restaurants and a supermarket are really close to the hotel. All in all I can recommend hotel Laura.

Very nice tree star hotel, nice surroundings. Good public communications. Silent, with room towards the back-yard. Staff accepted all our enquiries, both before arrival (by emails), an during the stay. The staff was acting like angels, soft, quick in actions, service minded.

Should have made it clear that the hotel is on the 4th floor of the building, and, which exit from the Metro (Place de Bologna)one should take. Actually from Roma Termini Station, it is better to take Bus 310. It stops right in front of the building ("Viale XXI Aprile" Stop). The elevator goes to the 4th floor and after that you have to walk up stairs to your room. The carpet is not very clean and I think it's over-priced. But it is a convenient place though the area can be a litle shady after dark and it is hard to know whether you are already there or not IF you are new to the area. You can ask people on the bus though. I don't speak Italian but once I said the name of the place right, people could understand where I want to go. Many Italians can speak English now.

This is a perfect hotel whenever you will go to Rome. Hotel Laura is close to the Metro station Piazza Bologna and the starting place for bus nummber 62, which will bring you to central Rome in 20 minutes. We had a double room in front of the street and it was quiet! The air-condition was in function in the evening when I needed it. We had clear and sunny wheather and and 32 degrees Celsius! A few blocks awaw we found one of the best restaurants we have visited in Italy, and we have been travelling all over the country for more than 25 years: Ristorante da Franco in via Stamira 29. I would specially recommend Saute di cozze e vongole, Antipasto della casa, Pasta fresca alla marinara. If you like churches or mosaics you must see Sant´Agnese fouri le mura and Santa Costanza, the last one with mosaics from the 4th century, more than 1600 years old! These mosaics are pre-bysantinian and extremely beautiful. Walk Viale 21 Aprile to Via Nomentana. Turn right and then you will find them after 200 meters on the left hand side.

The Hotel Laura was a great surprize for the price.(110 euro/night)While other older reviews commented about unfriendly staff, we found them helpful and accomodating even though their english was poor and our italian worse. Staff looked stored our luggage so we could sightsee until our room was ready. The breakfast was the same everday and nothing to write home about, but the coffee/espresso was freshly prepared by the cup, and the croissant, crackers, cheese, jam and cereal suffient to get the day started. The room (double) was small, but aren't most in Europe? Considering the amount of time spent in it, I find this a reasonable trade off to higher rates. The small fridge in the room enabled us to have some beverages and wonderful cheeses on hand. Our room was cleaned everyday including the bathroom (as opposed to other negative reports)with the towels changed daily as well. We requested a balcony which we did get. Having now stayed there I would request a room in the back if possible, as facing the main street is noisy with the window open. Air conditioning doesn't get turned on til mid June. Location was great. The Metro is literally on front of the hotel entrance. Piazzza Bologna is 3 stops from Termini Station and I don't think any of our trips took more than 15 minutes. Be aware that the Metro stops running at 10:00pm but the #62 bus runs later and last stop is in front of the Hotel. There is a parkette with a cafe next to the hotel. A supermarket around the corner, a few wonderful cheese shops to be explored and a sensational restaurant (recomeneded by the hotel manager)to enjoy one or more evenings. Ristorante Da Franco- Via Stamira N 29. 06 4423 6122. While no one spoke english, we managed to order one of the best meals we had in Rome. It's a small neighborhood spot that gets really crowded, make a reservation or go before 8pm. There is a gelatti shop a few steps from the hotel as well as a take out food and pizza shop that had really good freshly prepar

Location at Piazza Bologna is good - the third Metro stop from Termini train station (5 - 10 min). The Metro entrance is next door the hotel. There are also 2 busses - one (No 62) goes to evening/dionner turist areas, but all transporation system functions only till midnight. Laura Hotel is actually a 4th floor of an appartment building. The entrance door to the building is normally closed and one has to buzz somebody upstairs (reception desk) to unlock-open the door. Not very convenient. The lift did not work sometimes. Air Conditioning was there, but did not work 90% of the time. Single room is very, very small and located next to a publicly accessible washroom - very loud when washroom used - not recommended. Bigger rooms (doubles) - some of them face very busy street and must be quite loud. I think, it is better to stay in rooms that face courtyard. Breakfast - rather poor. A sweet bun, bread, jam, honey, butter, processed chesse squares, coffee, orange juice. The same stuuf every day. Bathrooms - fair size, but shower area very tight. Hot water 24/7. Only one towel provided - but changed daily. No good restaurants nearby, but there is an ice cream shop few step from the hotel. Also - nearby - a food supermarket (kind of hidden, ask for directions) with lots of food, wine, etc. No Internet in the hotel. The closest Internet caffee - about 5-10 min walk. TV - no English language channels.

At first impression this seems like a gem of a hotel. Friendly front desk staff, sometimes there is one who can speak English. Nice rooms with a king bed and a clean moderate sized bathroom. Then the cost cutting becomes apparent. The air cond. only works between 1PM and 1AM. It is shut down the rest of the time. It does not blow cold, only coolish air. The maids always turn it off as soon as you leave and open the window to the torrid Rome heat. Towel and lines were never changed in 4 nights. Breakfast is a stale cello wrapped croisant and packaged dry toast. The area around the hotel is dead so you must take the disgusting B line metro to even find a place to eat.

The hotel was nice. The location was excellent, the Metro Stop was right outside the building. The area was nice, very calm and it had a supermarket right behind it *something very hard to find in Rome*. The room was nice, it had air conditioning but it didnt work all day long, but we didnt mind because we were out all day, and when we got back the room was cold for us. The only thing I didnt like was that, in all of our 5 days there, not once did they clean the BATHROOM, they did the bed and vacuumed the floor, but the bathroom everyday was worse than the day before. I cant complain about the breakfast or the reception, they were very very nice and always helped us with everything. Our whole trip was very good in general, and the hotel made it even better, I would just recommend them to take care of the bathrooms a little bit more.

First, the bad things. Nobody in the hotel can speak English...just 1 lady, but extremely unfriendly. One morning i asked her to help me to check something in the yellow pages, just 1 answer..."I'M BUSY"...that the worst words for people in this business. Good things : breakfast included (decent), directly to the Metro station, a supermarket just at the back of the hotel, and the room was clean and good.

At the beginning it was perfect. Nice location, very nice room, etc. But we stayed 7 nights and the room has never been cleaned properly, especially the carpet and the bathroom. During the whole stay the carpet was never cleaned and the bathroom was hardly cleaned. I had to clean it myself sometimes. In the morning there is some machine which makes a lot of noise, and the room was next to the breakfast room so it was very noisy. During the last 4 days before we leave, they stopped providing us with shampoo first then with soap. Fortunately we had our own shampoo that we used, but we had to claim for soap and it is a shame for a 3 stars hotel. Saying that the whole hotel is air-conditioned is not really true because it is centralized. They start air-conditioning at the end of the afternoon and they stop it at about 1 a.m. so the temperature rises very quickly in the night and you automatically wake up to open the windows in order to have some freshness. Fortunately at the end of the stay they stopped air-conditioning at about 5 a.m., as the city started to be very hot (35° Celsius). The staff is not very friendly, we had a very great welcome in all the other hotels we were before (in Vicenza, Venice, Florence), but in that one it was pretty cold. At the beginning we wanted to recommend that hotel to our friends and family and to come back again, but definitely it's just an hotel where you can sleep one or two nights and not during the summertime. Nevertheless there is a very nice restaurant nearby named "I Preistorici", in Cremona Street. The food is very good and the staff very friendly.

Maybe, ideal for single and for short period (as a week end) but expensive for students. This was our first time in Rome or booking a hotel over the internet We found the Hotel very handy for traveling into the centre of Rome the entry to the Metro is just at the door of the Hotel. The metro can be very full and busy at times but it was quick. The rooms were small but you spend so little time in that it was fine. They were cleaned everyday and the shower had lots of hot water. the room was quiet much better than we had hoped for. The only down side was the breakfast not great but enough to keep you going till lunch. There are some lovely pizza and ice-cream places near the hotel that are not to dear.On our last night we found a place to buy fruit just at the back of the hotel. As a student on an end of term first ever visit to Rome, this hotel was an excellent base, rather small rooms did not matter as entrance to the underground system (or metro for the non-british) was literally a few metres from the hotel entrance so we only used our rooms for sleeping. The only real complaint about the hotel is that it is on a fourth floor of the building(though there is a lift, which will become very important after a day or two of the stars!). Other than that it is clean, snug and with friendly and helpful staff, even if we did manage to irritate them by not understanding the way the doors worked! In general a nice little hotel, perfectly located literally metres away from the metro line, 8 or 9 euros cab journey from termini station and right by a nice little cafe conveniently named "the meeting place". Local ice cream parlours also highly recommended

The hotel is ideally situated (close to an underground station )and pretty quiet. The rooms are all right too. What we found disastrous was the most unfriendly way in which we were treated at the reception throughout our stay ( the red-haired lady ; the others had a normal behaviour ). Even asking for our key seemed to be too much, and smiling is obviously not part of her job. The top occurred when we checked out.I paid with a credit card and dared to ask for a bill ( what a cheek ! ). She VERY RELUCTANTLY wrote it and then almost threw it at my face.I travel quite a lot and I can say I'd never had such an unpleasant experience before. It's really a shame 'cause the hotel is good value for money.

This hotel is not located in the historical district but a few extra stops on the Metro(which is right outside the door) will get to the Centro. I had a lost bag and hotel without my asking made the effort to contact the airline and have the bad delivered before morning. This is an internet point within one block. A deli & coffee shop right next door. The Tiburtina bus station is less that 2 km away or one Metro stop. This was a great jumping off point for me to get to and from Siena. I stayed here both coming and going out of Rome. The single room was extremely small but met my needs. I would stay here again. Bring ear plugs, it is on a busy street!

The hotel was in an area away from the tourists. The neighborhood was more residential with locals on the streets rather than visitors. Restaraunt prices were better in the area; and there were more markets and stores for fresh produce. The negatives: sometimes you could hear the hotel guests next door- but that was not a major problem; also the hotel receptionist wanted to charge me for nights that I had booked but was not going to stay (I booked 5 nights, but had to leave after the 3rd night), but that was cleared up with Venere.com. The hotel was otherwise clean, quiet and a good value for the money.

the fact that the room was on the front and the balcony housed an air conditioning unit meant that it was noisy. we could have coped with the traffic noise as this diminished as the night wore on but the air conditioning unit seemed to be on most of the night because it served rooms other than ours. the location was ideal and the room very clean. if staying there in the future we would request a room without the a/c unit on the balcony.

We picked this hotel for a single night due to its proximity to Roma Tiburtina Train Station, where we needed to make a 05:00 connection the next morning. The hotel staff had a taxi waiting for us upon our early morning departure. The Hotel is on the Metro line, which during normal hours, would provide access to the entire city. Aside from a few shops and the Metro station the neighborhood is primarity residential and was very quiet the night we stayed there. The hotel met our specific requirements and we have only one negative comment regarding some noise between rooms. However, that was a minor issue.

The location of Hotel Laura is great. It's on the same block as the Metro which makes it easy to get around. There is also a bus that leaves from across the street and takes you right to the Vatican (as well as other tourist destinations.) The staff at the front desk is not great. There was one man who was working at the front desk the first day who was very helpful and friendly. The rest of the people we encountered at the front desk were a bit rude and not very helpful - they also did not know very much English and got impatient with us when we had trouble communicating with them. Breakfast was fine. Our room was fine - it had air conditioning, a television, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom with a shower.

We had booked "Laura" for an extended weekend in Rome and found it very good place for this. Perfect connection through public traffic, just 3 stations and 20 steps away from Roma Termini. Number of restaurants around Piazza Bologna is somewhat sparse but bars for a second cappucino after BF and Shops/supermarket/post office are very close. If like like to sleep with open window ask for a room to the yard-side, noise level to the front side is "italian". We only stayed there one night as we thought that the bus left from the tiburtina station for the airport at all hours to maybe save a few euros. We were wrong and had to take a taxi anyway. The hotel is right outside the piazza bologna stop and is super close for easy access to the metro and all of rome. The people who worked there were great and professional, and the hotel was really well kept and seemed new or at least very recently renovated. The neighborhood is all locals-good or bad depending on your preference. We had a great dinner at a restaurant called Aurelio's near there. If you want a slightly nicer hotel for the price stay here. If you want to be walking-distance close to theaction then don't stay here. We would recommend this place to friends with these qualifiers.

The rooms were very clean, although a little smaller than was suggested by the pictures in the brochure or internet. The staff was friendly and helpful even though we did not speak Italian. They were able to converse with us in English which we appreciated.

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff and easy access to the centre. Just in front of the Bologna (line B) metro station which is only a couple of stops from Termini and Colosseo. We stayed a week and would recommend it.

We give Hotel Laura our highest recommendation if you are looking for a very nice place with nighttime air conditioning at a very good price away from the tourist traps. It’s located north east of the train station in Piazza Bologna, a square without many tourists, so you can blend in and watch the Romans being themselves. (We found them very nice and friendly!) Still, the Hotel is only about 10 feet from a Metro entrance for fast, cheep, and easy travel throughout Rome. An excellent restaurant, I Preistorici Roma, with wonderful prices is only about a block away on Via Cremona, and ATM machines abound on the square. We spent 8 of our 22 nights in Italy here in Hotel Laura. It was our loveliest stay.

The hotel is ideal for a couple who don't mind having to catch a metro into the centre of Rome. Cleanliness of Bathroom and Bedroom was 100%. Only 2 complaints - the room we had was a corner room and very small - especially in comparison to the bathroom. Also the air conditioning kept switching itself off, but when we complained it was always fixed immediately.

Our stay at Laura was quite good but was not what we could expect from a 4 stars. The cleanliness of our room was not so good even on the first day. The choice for breakfast was very limited and above all you should have mentionned that it is on the 4th and 5th floor of a big building. However a subway station is just outside the hotel and some buses go to the hotel until midnight.
