The staff gives right information about tourism and restaurant. In addition they are really kind and helpfull. But we had to pay in cash the nights and we could not have our breakfast in the hostel, because the staff was on hollidays. We were waked up early in the morning, by the noise inside & outside the appartment. The place is more a B&B rather than an hotel.

The Hotel Lady turned out to be a disaster. It is not even a hotel – they showed us a room that had two army cots with a mattress on top! And cash payment only! They wanted to take us to a bank to cash out money from the credit card. Very odd! We left but they demanded 90 Euros because I had taken a shower. Do not send anybody there – a youth hostel would be an improvement!

Very friendly people. Room was spacious&clean and the bed great. The location is superb, within walking distance of all the attractions but just far enough from the crowds to get the relaxed Italian vibe. Plus supermarket and Public Transport around the corner. However, the 'lady' speaks only Italian, which led to some uncomfortable miscommunication concerning check-out. She also speaks VERY loud on the phone, which is not fun at 7:30am every single day. Neighbors' (across the atrium) TV can also ruin an early sleeper. Overall this is a good place for a low budget vacation for people who sleep deep and easy.

No internet or WiFi available. We were not encouraged to sit or use the common area and so felt restricted to our rooms. This was a negative at times. In hot weather, lack of an in-room electric fan was disappointing. Otherwise, we liked the place and the location, within easy walking distance of the Vatican was a real plus.

We have a very bad experience with this hotel, which for us is not a hotel but a Pension managed by two greedy people. We were very much stressed each times, nothing was in line. I strongly advice do not use such hotel. After two days we changed our hotel (in the same building) because of the mess and the spirit of these people

This hotel reminded us why not having your own toilet is simply annoying. We booked a room with bathroom, but that apparantly didn't include a toilet. Very disappointing. Apart from that, it's pretty expensive (breakfast not included!) and the room was quite small. Another annyoing point: the manager spoke English (think Marlon Brando in The Godfather, really!), but his wife didn't. Unfortunately, most of the dealings were with his wife, which made communication ... difficult, to say the least. All in all, if we had a choice, I think we'd choose a different hotel next time

Overall our stay was fine and uneven full. The rooms and the hotel in general had a nice charm to them however the walls and doors were very thin. However most of the tenants seemed to be well behaved so noise pollution was a huge problem. The owner was a bit peculiar in that he wanted cash instead of a credit card. In the end he excepted the credit card. The hotel is well located especially if you care to start your site seeing in Vatican City.

The hotel was a small pensionne run with a minimum of visible staff. Those we came into contact with were very helpful indeed. With my lack of Italian and his lack of English we conversed in French! He gave good advice about where to eat and about tourist visits. Unpretentious, you get what's on the label! Located 10 mins from Vatican so fine for that but needed to use bus to get to other parts of the city in reasonable time - particularly for dinner in the evenings. Located on fourth floor amid three other hotels on other floors of the same building so not that obvious but typical for Europesan city.

The location on a quiet street near the Vatican is excellent. I booked a room with a bath down the hall. I shouldn't have (although it was 30 Euros per nightless expensive) because my wife was not happy with my decision. There were no bath mats in the shared bathroom for showers and the hosts appear to be stingy with towels. This is not a B&B; however, the pretty dining tables in the main area serve a cozy albeit purely cosmetic function. The host was quite helpful with his suggestions.

We expected that for 130 euros that a room with a bathroom would have a toilet in the bathroom instead of across the hall. No mod cons, no breakfast or coffee even if we paid more. The hotel would have been fine with us if we had been charged less, but we would not have agreed to it at the price if we had seen it first. Also, the proprietress quoted me a lower price after the first night, but then when my husband paid, she brought out the internet reservation sheet and asked for the 130 euros. She did not attempt to speak English, and our Italian is too bad to deal with problems; she kept our passports until we paid and left, so this went unresolved

We agree with most of what the others have written. The hotel is very quiet, well-maintained and clean. It's true, the hosts are a bit reserved but they are nice and helpful. However, it helps when you understand a little bit of Italian. The only thing that we really found a bit of a downer was that they have only one bathroom (shower and toilet) for four rooms to share. So, we had to wait to get into the bathroom almost every morning.

The facilities and location were wonderful. The staff was a bit overbearing and we felt that the needs of others (both staff and hotel guests) were considered over our own needs. For example, we were asked to leave our room early on our last day to accomodate another couple that was coming to stay. This seemed unusual and inconvenient. The staff was not ungracious, however, and the experience overall was not unpleasant. For the price, we would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lady Hotel. Upon arrival, our hosts were reserved but grew warmer with each passing day. This hotel was perfect for our stay in Rome, even though we were not especially interesting in the Vatican which is not far away. The busline 81, among others, provides excellent connections with the rest of the city, and the neighborhood is not overrun by tourists. Our hosts could have taken a few very small steps that would improve the spirits of their guests. The towels could be of a higher quality. A few small bars of soap (one small soap button for a stay of six days!). These issues did not really bother us since we are experienced and prepared travellers but they would make a difference to their clientele. The breakfast is too expensive but there is "tavala calda" place just around the corner that has excellent coffee, pastry, and salads for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A room without a bath is manageagle, with the usual problems. Here the host try to help. The bath is quickly cleaned after each use. We would visit again.

we are a couple stayed for two nights. the place is really beautiful and spacious more then you can see in the site pictures. loaction is good and quiet. the neighborhood is also lovley. but on the other hand it is located not really in the center of the touristic area. need to walk for 20 minutes to get there which is fine for us. and the price was a little high 130euro for a couple , and it did not include and breakfast. we had no toilet in the room. but it was no problem since the place is not big and the toilet in the end of the corridor was clean. the only two thinks that really bothered us was the chip soft bed which is under my minimal standard. but we slept fine. and on the day we left the hotel they did not want to watch over our bags until the evening. so we had to carry our bags to the trainstation and pay for luggege storage until the flight. and that took us a lot of time. but generally we enjoyed our stay mainly because the interior of the hotel is really warm classic antic italian and pleasant.

Firstly, Roman Hotels are generally overpriced. The accomadations were simple and clean. For those of you that don't speak any Italian, don't stay here as the couple doesn't speak much English at all. There is no TV either. My issue is more with the couple that ran the hotel. My boyfriend and I were stuck in Paris for 2 extra days because of the strikes in March/April. I called the Lady and they said that they would have to charge us for the 2 nights missed if they couldn't find someone else to take the room. (and perhaps they did rent it out, we never would have known.) When we arrive, they try to pressure me to pay them 400 Euro in cash because the bank will hold a credit card charge for 1 week. I needed to make one local call, for which I was charge 3 Euro when I was only on the phone for 3 minutes. Also, the day before we left, we were asked to leave by 9am because they had to accomadate another couple that needed our room early. So, basically WE NEEDED TO ACCOMADATE THE LADY....rather than the Lady accomadatin us. I would never stay here. The couple is friendly, but they take advantage of you and are very nosy. The only perk was that it was close to the Vatican...so that was fine. And to the other reviewer that complained about not being able to find the road, get a map....it's on a map. We found it just fine.

this hotel is run by the owner - a very charming and friendly woman with his husband. We had Room Nr. 2 which faces the street (and therefore is quiet loud - not only in the morning but accidentially also in the middle of the night.) This place is a good starting-point for all tours around Vatican, the Renaissance-Centre and the Classical-Centre of Rome. We can recommend HOTEL LADY!

There are only two quibbles we had - we found it slightly tricky to find as the map didn't show the small roads including Via Germanico, and we would have liked a kettle and tea/coffee making equipment in the room!! However there are plenty of cafee's in the nearby streets. We didn't have the breakfasts and found the cafes much cheaper. The accommodation however was spotless and spacious, no noise during the day or at night, and we had no trouble with sharing the bathroom. We never saw nearly enough of Rome in our 4 day stay so we will be be back, and will not hesitate to stay the the Lady again!! Nor would we hesitate to recommend it to anyone!!

We were able to find "The Lady" with no trouble at all. The cab driver from the train station brought us right there. We had done some research, so we knew that the Pensione was on the fourth floor. Our hosts were absolutely charming and welcoming. After check-in, they brought us a map of the area. OUr room was just as we requested and expected. We had the room with a shower, and the toilet was across the hall; rarely was anyone in it. The location was perfect for sightseeing. The rest of our group was on the other side of Rome, and we know that we got the better location. We highly recommend "The Lady", and will probably seek it out if we return to Rome. We stayed in 6 hotels in 2 weeks trip to Italy and Lady was by far our favorite due to the charming owners, Angela and Donato. Angela speaks English quite well (although she would modestly say no she doesn't) and Donato speaks no English but told us a complete story in Italian about Rafael (the Painter) using his hands and expressive face and we understood it. We shared a toilet/shower with 5 other guest rooms and never had to wait even though they were fully booked. They went out of their way to be helpful with directions and suggestions. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood near the Vatican away from the mobs of tourists we encountered everywhere else in Sept. They sent us to their own favorite neighborhood restaurant, Amalfi, which we liked so much we ate dinner there twice. Angela also sent us to a restaurant just down the street a block called La Griglietta which was also excellent. Angela and Donato are the perfect hosts. Friendly without being pushy and very knowledgeable about Rome. We will definately stay there again.

I would use Hotel Lady again when visiting Rome. It is within easy reach of the Vatican museum, St Peters Basilica and 2 metro stations. We were also able to walk to many other tourist sites. The hosts were friendly and we were sad we couldn't talk to them more as we had no italian and they no english, although the hostess was able to use a few words and we successfully exchanged greetings and ordered a taxi with them using a phrase book. We did not take breakfast in the hotel although it is a provided extra. The only problem was the noisy street including a nightly truck trash pick up in the early hours. Our last night we closed the windows and shutters and this removed most of noise. Make sure you use a registered white Rome city taxi. We were approached at the rail station by a car hire company and their rate was almost three times as much.

This hotel was by and large a good value for the money. Really, the only problem we had was the lack of a fan or air conditining in our room (the other rooms have fans I think though). We stayed in other places in Italy without air conditioning, but it was stifling with not much wind in Rome while we were there. However, after telling them this, they brought us a portable fan, which helped a good bit. Sharing a bathroom turned out to be not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I can only remember seeing it occupied one time in three days. The location was pretty good; close to the Vatican and fairly close to the subway. I think we got really lucky finding the place without a map of Rome handy...I'd definately recommend getting one before you get on the subway. The family that ran the hotel was very nice, and made up for their lack of the English language with their hospitality. Thanks!

VERY easy to get to from Lepant Metro station, an close to the Vatican. Several bars restaurants etc on the main road, around 2 mins walk away. TIP: Go to Charreada. Its a mexican restaurant/bar at the fountain by the junction of Via Germanico and V.A Reggio. The staff: Dani, Alexandro, Laura, Ali, Antonello and Fraceso are young, enthusiastic and professional. Hello everybody, for a quick, central, uncomplicated and very friendly stay in Rome I definitively reccommend the "Lady". During your stay in rome two things will be shure : 1 you will walk all day long, 2 : you will come back to the hotel just to sleep, if budget is also a matter then the hotel Lady is perfect as i has been for me. Bye from Switzerland Andrea

Was confirmed for 3 nights. When checking in told we would have to move to the second floor for the 3rd night. Very inconvenient and a lesser value room.

Hotel Lady was everything we expected it to be. Our hosts were very friendly even though we had a bit of a language barrier. It was the cleanest hotel I have been to in a long time and although it was a bit shabby, it felt very homey, like visiting family. Yes, the toilet is outside the room, but I never saw anyone else try to use it when occupied and all the rooms were full when we were there. As for location, it was perfect! Quiet but close to the Vatican and Metro. Our hosts were gracious and lovely and I would absolutely stay there again.

Il posto è assai confortevole e ha fascino. Pulito, silenzioso. I proprietari cordiali e disponibili.

The room could use a clock of some sort. It was very clean and comfortable. The husband spoke a little English while the wife spoke no English, however it was easy enough to communicate with her after a day or two through gestures. They were very friendly and helpful.

1) The hotel was located on the 4th floor - this was not specified in the web presentation. 2) Check-out time is 10 a.m. I had gone out early in the morning, was back at 9.35 a.m. and found that my luggage had already been taken out of the room and the room had already been cleaned for the new guests. My luggage had been put (in a safe place) in the hall. (Check-in time is 12, anyway).

Is not a Hotel is a very small place on the forth floor, the owners were very loud and noisy day and night. The hotel is difficult to find as it does not have it's own sign prominetly displayed. Not 5 mins away from St Peters, is 20 min. at last. You better bring your own towells, the bedroom and de bath are clean but very very small. The view from the room window was horrible and very loud noise from water pipes. I would not recommend for any traveller to stay in this no Hotel.

Our host was charming and we never had the language problems as mentioned in the Lonely Planet. The hotel being on the 4th floor the elevator was appreciated with our large bags. A great location with good retaurants and bars nearby. We'll be back, next time we hope with our younr adult children.

We travelled from the airport by train, then took the metro and got off at Lepanto. From there it is approximately an 8 or 9 minute walk to reach the hotel. Fortunately we had a street map of Rome so it wasn't difficult to find. We were surprised to find that the hotel (Pensione) with 7 rooms), is actually on the fourth floor, within a block of flats, converted from an old monastery. It is situated on a leafy, quiet side-street off a busy main road leading to St Peter's Basilca, so there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants close to the hotel. The comfortable lounge/foyer of the hotel is furnished with a few nice antiques and quality prints and paintings. There is adequate tourist information and plenty of reading matter. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Our room was at the back of the hotel with large windows overlooking a courtyard. The king-size bed was very comfortable and there was a good wardrobe, a writing desk and telephone. The bathroom however was a bit worn and the towels clean but quite old. There was a wash-basin and shower in our room but no toilet, which was in the corridor quite close to the room, but shared with other guests. Breakfast can be taken in the hotel between 8 and 10 each morning, but at 10 euros a head extra we thought this expensive, as it is half the price at the street cafes. The hotel is only a 7 or 8 minute walk away from St Peter's Basilica and likewise the same distance to the nearest metro and bus stops - excellent value at 1 euro each journey, or 4 euros for a day pass. We enjoyed our few days in Rome and would certainly use the Hotel Lady again for a similar short stay.

this is not a hotell. It is more like a bed and breakfast mini place. We did not appreciate old bread avery day for breakfast. We thougth that a room with shower also includes a toilett. It did not..... So a very small place on the forth floor which no taxidriver had ever heard of.

The room was very nice, but very small, which I guess is common in Rome. And the quietness was fair, which I don't mind but, someone else may. And on the web site the description was a little unclear. It made it sound like there was a toilette in the room but there was not only a shower. Overall it was great and the women who runs it was extremely sweet.

Good place to stay, short walking distance from the subway station, vatican city, staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, quaint and has a homey feel. Hotel has a small elevator, after 3 steps up from lobby and location was nearby restaurants, shopping within blocks. Good place to stay if looking near the vatican city. Only thing that they could improve is the size of the shower which was smaller than normal.

The hotel itself was lovely, all the rooms we entered were cosy and warm, clean and nicely decorated. It was also well located. The area was quiet, although it wasn't too hard to find bars & restaurants nearby, and St Peters etc. was a short walk away. But the real charm was the owners! They were lovely! Really welcoming and friendly, and they were real characters!

The Hotel is superbly located and offers excellent value for money. Rooms whilst basic (no TV, tea and coffee making facilities etc.) are very comfortably and kept extremely clean. The location is close to Vatican City and a short walk from the city centre, but is surrounded by some excellent shops, cafes, bars and restauarnats so you do not need to walk far for breakfast / dinner. Prices of nearby restaurants were very reasonable. The staff were very friendly - the only slight downside is that most rooms have to share shower and toilet facilities which could cause problems at busier times.

Perfectly adequate. Location is great for access to all the sights and the hotel is modest and comfortable. Only gripe was being obliged to pay for an unrequested (and over priced) breakfast on the last morning merely because we'd had it on the two previous mornings. But then to single this hotel out for being more interested in its client's money than the clients themselves would be naive.

It's a good place if you have to wake up early in order to go to the Vatican but it's a bit far from the historical center and there 's not a lot of things to see in Prati areas. But the metro is very closed and useful, especially when it's raining!

We enjoyed the stay in Rome very much. It was a romantic getaway weekend during Easter time. Staff was like no where before we´ve been; They really made us feel at home. Beds were a little bit too hard for my taste and the bathroom noices were the wake up call in the morning but otherwise the atmosphere and the location was perfect for our easter holiday. We can recommend this place warmly for those who prefer it pittoresque and sympatique. Love, Mia & Richard

Hotel Lady is a delightful, clean, quiet, and reasonably priced pensione, located within about five minutes' walking distance of the Vatican and about 15 to 20 minutes walking distance of most of the other major sights in Rome. The owners -- two brothers -- spoke little English but were always helpful and willing to try. I'd happily stay again. Be advised that, while their website states that they take credit cards, they strongly prefer cash.

I had a wonderful stay at the Lady. The staff were very accommodating and room perfect for me. The location is excellent. I stayed during the winter so the Lady did not have things like coffee available for me, but I had no trouble finding plenty of places nearby to get coffee in the mornings. I would gladly return there on my next visit to Rome.

Nice location near the Vatican, on a relatively quiet street with some excellent restaurants nearby. The rooms were more spacious than I had expected, simply decorated and clean. The bed could have been a bit firmer, but it wasn't back-destroying or anything like that. The couple who run Lady were very welcoming, though they speak little English. Price was quite high, I thought, but that's what you get for going to Rome in high season and booking at the last moment.

Very clean and great location. A very friendly couple running this hotel. Stayed with 1 friend in a double with shared bath- sink in room. Would recommend bringing your own towel, as those provided were very small. The owners allowed us to store our luggage for a few days as we traveled for an unbelievably low price! There is a curfew of 1am- you must leave your key with the owners every time you leave. No air conditioning, but ceiling fan in room. Rooms stayed relatively cool, but we needed to keep windows open at night. This made for a rough sleep due to very noisy street traffic.

Italy is a country where noise is part of life, day and night...Fortunately May provided us with cool nights so... we could keep the windows closed. My stay was fine but there was no soap nor shampoo samples which are basic little treats for travellers. Thank-you Venere for the efficient rental service offered.

This was our first experience of booking accomodation abroad using the internet. I was amazed and delighted at how easy, proficient and trouble free it turned out to be. Our accomodation was all that we'd hoped and our welcome was warm and sincere. I cannot recommend the "Lady" too highly...on the doorstep of the Vatican, reasonably priced, clean and comfortable and with charming owners. What more can a visitor to Rome ask for?

The owners were very nice. They tryed to be very helpful. The building is a bit run down but the pensione itself is tasteful. The bed was bad for my back. We had expected better. The room was very spacious but if I were to go back I would take my own towels and they didn't provide soap for the shower. Everything was clean and the room was very quiet. I felt like I was in the upper west side of Manhattan in NYC, USA when I walked out of the building. It is very convenient to the Metro and the Vatican. I didn't think the price should be that high for the quality of the facility. I had stayed at the Hotel Parlimento the week before and it was the same price and they provided breakfast and a much better location in terms of having everything within walking distance. There is a wonderful morning market just a couple of blocks away and a very good super market and department store also a couple of blocks away.

My stay at Hotel Lady was very pleasant. Angela and Dario made me feel like a guest in their home. I would recommend the pensione to any travelers on a budget, searching for pleasant surroundings at affordable cost. The neighborhood is an easy walk from the Vatican and many of the historic piazzas.
