The hotel was about 15 minute walk from train station. Hotel and reception located on 4th floor; had small lift to get luggage to hotel. Very basic room and small bathroom. Very clean and certainly value for money. We were able to leave our luggage there on day of check out for late departure from Rome. Staff were very friendly. A nice restaurant about 50m from hotel. A very basic breakfast of pastry and coffee or juice offered at cafe around the corner from hotel. We used the hotel shuttle to airport which was a privately driven car which was considerably cheaper and much more convenient then catching a train, shuttle from train station or taxi.

Hotel Katty is a budget hotel. Don't expect much. The location is fine, but expect to walk 20 to 45 mins to get to Colesseum and other major attractions. Metro is close by though. The beds were clean, but hard. The room was clean, but we were on the street side and it was VERY noisy.. we had to wear ear plugs to sleep.

It looks like a typical family hotel. The rooms locate on the 4th and 5th (European counts the 0th floor as ground floor). The elevator is too tiny. The room I booked was very spacious, and larger than a typical hotel room in US in this price (99 EURO). Strangely the space of the room I stayed in Florence was also big ( maybe Italian loves to make big rooms.) No hot drinking water for tea in the room, you have to go ask the frond-desk, they will boil for you. Subway line A is two blocks away, train station Termini is within 15minutes walking distance. There is also a bus stop nearby Termini that will take you to the Da Vinci airport (8 Euro There are cheaper fare which cost only 4 Euro or 6 Euro, but I didn't manage to find it). Anyway, I generally recommend this hotel for budget travelers.

Hotel Katty is located next door to the German Embassy and there are some others nearby. It is a relatively quiet neighbourhood given its proximity to Termini (10-15 minutes walk). The room was fine and good for the price and with the windows closed, was also quiet. Breakfast is taken about 5 minutes away at a local coffee shop with friendly staff and good coffee and your choice of a pastry. A token is provided on check in for each morning's breakfast. We ate at the restaurant two doors down but found it cost as much as a night's accommodation and that was just with water. In the same street as the breakfast cafe is a market with fresh produce available plus the usual market bargains.

Very good hotel, small hotel but clean and spacious room. Our room is very quiet. Hot water in water closet is very good too. Cleaned very well. Good price and god location, not far from the reailway station, about 15 minutes' walking distance. The lift is very small, and some people may not like it, but we find it very interesting experience. Breakfast is not served in the hotel, but in a nearby bar. Not very much in quantity but good in taste.

Hotel is well located and only hotel in Italy that I found with a lift. Rooms are modern and well kept. Beds are comfortable. Internet, coffee and pastries for breakfast included in the rate. Supermarket only two blocks away. It is actually closer to Saint Castro subway station. Only downside, not so much privacy.

A clean, and simple european hotel. If you're looking for typical hotel chain lodging, this isn't for you. If you're interested in a small european style hotel with a classic elevator at a reasonable price, you've found it in Hotel Katty. Minutes from the main train station, but a bit farther from the city sights. Fortunately, the subway is close by and easy to navigate.

The Hotel was extremely clean and quiet. It lived up to exactly what it portrayed on the WEB and the Breakfast Bar they use around the corner was not only excellent service, but made you feel like a part of the community. We even returned to it for dinner. The hotel is extremely convenient to access to Termini train station and to tourist bus stops and Metro Stops. A very enjoyable stay. The local restaurants also provided excellent service, quality food and excellent prices.

The general impression is to be in a family apartment, not in a hotel. If you arrive after 10.30 pm, you don't find anybody at the reception. This is at the 4th floor, but some rooms are at the 5th. The breakfast is served in a bar some 300 hundred meters out of the hotel.

The Hotel Katty was in a great location for the price. We were able to walk all over Rome from there. Our group was made up of four high school students and their mothers. The lobby is located on the fourth floor of a building that houses another hotel and other businesses. It was clean and seemed newly renovated. The staff was friendly and helpful although only one spoke English fluently. It served our needs well and we enjoyed our stay there. I highly recommend it.

My wife and me have been five days in Rome. The Hotel is close to the dead-end station "Stazione Termini" and within walking distance. Many places of interest are also in walking distance. Not really amazing is the included breakfast. We got it in a small bar (Bar Oasies) next street cross the main street. It consist one croissant and one cup of coffee/cappucino (value according to the menue = 1,50 Euro). The minibar has ben empty, but you can fill it up for yourself in a supermarket around the corner. Our room (103) was not very quiet, a call of anyone in a room beside us at dead of night was good understandable. The colour TV received many italian sender and one frech sender. We were very comfortable with all. Over the day we have been on the way in the city and used the hotel for the night, it is favorably located. The personnel is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed 3 nights here, and would NOT recommend Hotel Katty. 1st: our bed was rock hard! 2nd: our room was on the street side and the noise throughout the night was ridiculous. Between the hard bed, garbage trucks, police sirens, traffic and people, we hardly slept, even with ear plugs. 3rd: the walls were paper thin. We could hear everything our neighbors said and did. After the 1st night we asked for a different room and they said they were full, though we saw empty rooms that night. 4th: there was mold on the walls in the bathroom, and the shower gel dispenser was broken and left on the wall full of crusty water deposits. The shower door was very difficult to slide open and close. The water temperature in the shower fluctuated hot and cold, and they DO run out of hot water. The light in the bathroom is connected to a fan (LOUD) and a timer. The light turns off every 15 minutes or so (I found myself wet and soapy in the dark, calling for my wife to flip the switch again). No toilet seat lid. Upon flushing, the water through the pipes sounded like the room was going to flood. Fifth, the free breakfast is at a cafe a few blocks away, and consisted of 1 croissant and 1 small glass of juice. If you have any kind of an appetite in the morning, plan on having to buy something more. They did provide an adapter plug which was nice, a shared hair dryer, and the gentleman at the desk was helpful and friendlier than the Italian lady. Free wi-fi was also nice. After 9 pm don't count on any service, even if you run out of toilet paper. My wife was disturbed that the things she had left out of her suitcase were put back and her suitcase zipped close while we were gone, apparently during the cleaning. We went with this hotel for the price. Next time we will spring for something more expensive, just so we can sleep! If you walk all over Rome for 3 days like we did, a comfortable bed and peace and quiet for sleeping is something to be desired. You won't find it here.

Room had a proper size, well working air conditioning, TV, (BBC - World News among other choices), refrigerator. Belonging to the room a very clean, private bathroom has not too generous size/space however. Next day discovered that hotel is 5 minutes distant from the line B metro station Castor Pretorio. On the way to hotel there is an open daily grocery story -supermarket. Hotel is run by very nice, helpful and accommodating staff. Well supplied Italian type breakfast is served from 7:30 AM at close by cafe-bar. Major renovations were under way during my first stay at Hotel Katty in late May 2010. My room at the rear of the building was freshly renovated, comfortable and immaculately clean; it had ensuite bathroom and a small sunny balcony. There was no traffic noise. Staff were helpful but their English language was fairly basic. The general area felt safe (several embassies are nearby) and a supermarket was within a few minutes walking distance; Termini train station was less than 15 minutes easy walk away. A very tiny elevator takes you to reception on the 4th floor; barely room for two people with one small case each. Excellent value in a central location.

Small family owned operation. Very friendly staff, they may not speak englsh very well, but seem to understand it just fine. Basic and clean accomodations. We had a family of 5, and they accomodated us in one room. That was our choice, but in retrospect we should have gotten 2 rooms as they moved extra beds into the room to meet our request, and it was a little tight. We were touring, so left early in the mornng, and didn't return until farly late at night, we didn't need any ammenties. to that end, the Katty served our needs just fine, if you need frills, you probably need to look elsewhere. Located on 4th floor of multi-tennant building, elvator available, but only big enough for 2 people. This wasn't a problem for us, but could be for some.

The younger lady at the reception is very friendly, her mother less so, but it depends on the day (I stayed two days), if she is in a good mood she may also smile shortly.

We have had a pleasant stay in this hotel. The price is indeed low and the rooms are great and cleaning up. The landlady rearranges every whole day and is also available to the deposit baggages. The only fault is that the building is enough old and the elevator shows its years.

This is a great quiet and INEXPENSIVE hotel near Termini. We had stayed here in 2007 and when planning our trip to Rome for this year really didn't consider any other hotel than the Hotel Katty. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The woman who runs it is a delight - she doesn't speak much English - so, come prepared with your traveler's Italian well honed. Don't expect the Four Seasons or even the Hilton - it's a budget hotel and is just a room - WITH NO FRILLS - a place to rest your head after a long day of sightseeing. For sake of polling here- I wish there was an N/A button (for amenities like "Public Areas") - Hotel Katty doesn't really have them - but the building is clean, quiet and decent. So, 9 it is.

great location; price is right; great restaurant 100 meters from hotel; breakfast not included but can be had 300 meters away in the Tabac; only one small elevator but steps easily negotiated.

Somewhat disappointing--it was very clean, but the hotel was very old and it definitely needed some updating, all rooms were on the 4th & 5th floor with a small elevator for access--unless you walked up--very few electrical plugs--none in the bathroom--it was a value for Rome I guess--but, it was misleading as to how close it was to all attractions--

we found this to be a perfect place to crash after a long day of traveling and arriving at termini..very short walk once you get out of the termini!! Not the greatest english but very competent and willing to try to assist with any questions. room was just as described and we feel we got just what we asked for.. of course an included breakfast would have been nice, but hey, it is Italy, go to a cafe like the rest of them.. as the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans... very safe surroundings, great access to transportation we would reccomend it to anyone who is on a bit of a budget and really needs a quiet , clean place to crash. Fridge was just what we needed !!

Excellent low-cost hotel that is located near the subway and the main central station in Rome. A family of 5 adults stayed for 3 nights and it was really pleasant. Breakfast not included in the price but not far from the hotel there was a nice bar located that served different kind of breakfast. Would recommend this facility for people searching a cheap hotel and that are not interested in spending their holiday in the room.

The location of the hotel is very good, near the station and metro. The room and bathroom was very clean and large enough for two person. The lift is very small, no space enough for two person with their luggages. So don't bring a big and heavy luggage with you.

We had a nice stay in a familyroom. It would have been great if it has been possible to make or buy a cup of coffee in the room/reception - and even better if the hotel could offer breakfast.

My girlfriend and I needed a good location with a clean room at a cheap off-season price. We went in Mid-October of '09 and it was pretty much perfect for what we needed. Not much frills but clean and pretty quite. The front desk wasnt overly friendly but competent and prompt. Room had cable and clean bathroom. Would totally stay here again

The location is terrific, but I don't think we would stay there again. One reason is that they do not serve breakfast and it helps to have coffee at least before hitting the streets for a long day of walking. The other reason is that the shower was terrible, the hot water cut off after 3 minutes!

Hotel is located very close to Termini train station. So it's very convenient to get there from airport even if your flight arrives late. On the other hand nearness to Termini determines the price which is high for such hotel. But in any case I'm glad I choose it. I did'n have any problems, staff is very friendly. I'm sure I'll choose it again next trip to Rome.

This hotel is on the 4th and 5th floors of a large old building in a business district. Rome main railway station is about 15-20mins.walk. It has a lift (thank goodness) No, we wouldn't stay here again, it seemed to lack that certain something. You get what you pay for.

The one star hotel is located app. 10 min. walk from the main railwaystation (Termini). After a not to impressive entrance, and a even less impressive elevator (the hotel is located in 4th and 5th floor), we were met by a charming hostess and and her daughter. The rooms were newly renovated. They were clean and tidy. We came back one week later!!

Located close to the train station so it makes a nice one-night stop if you're leaving early the next day. Has all the basic amenities in a very simple room. It's what you can expect for the price.

I chose this hotel as the best-rated budget place near Termini. It was a good choice. We had one day in Rome en route home, and Katty was exactly what we needed. The mother and daughter who run it were friendly and helpful. They are genuinely welcoming and straightforward. The room was quiet despite being directly behind reception. Small imperfections in the room were that the windows were dilapidated and grimy (open all the time to city dirt)and the toilet paper hadn't been replenished. But the room itself and bathroom were clean.
