Very well run hotel close to all the tourist sites. The management and staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was well appointed, very clean and was serviced every day. Nice restaurant over the road as was a bakery that sold all kinds of Italian delicacies. Supermarket down the street on Via Nationale.Brakfast served in lovely rooms.Public transport a hundred metres away and Termini Centrale a ten minute walk.A perfect base for a visit to Rome.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay at the Hotel Italia, the location is excellent, the price was very affordable, the staff was super nice and the amenities were very good. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit Rome in the future.

This is an excellent B&B hotel. Clean, comfortable and good value. Receptionist are wonderful: spoke English, polite & always cheerful and very helpful in every way. Excellent breakfasts. Well located within walking distance of many of the main attractions; good transport links to others.

A high proportion of good comments led us to book. However, my partner found room lighting dim and the view onto a back courtyard disappointing. Cooking smells from another property were evident and we were advised to pay extra for air con for general ventilation. Despite that, it was very clean, safe, comfortable and the staff were friendly, competent, helpful and humorous. Breakfast is limited, as is the dining space; the hotel's rooms seem generally small. Staying there for a few days was fine and I would go again.

This was our first stay at the Hotel Italia and it will certainly not be our last. Excellent location with all of the main tourist attractions within easy walking distance. The hotel rooms were larger than expected and spotlessly clean. With the windows open there was some noise but once closed it was very quiet. The staff were excellent, very willing to help, polite and extremely friendly. Breakfast was basic but ample. Everything you would expect in a continential breakfast was there. All in all a great location, excellent staff, fantastic location, well equipped clean rooms and good value for money. We would definately go back and recommend to anyone.

Hotel is in great location. Elevator is old fashioned. Restaurant recommendations were satisfactory. Transportation to the airport arranged through the front desk was also satisfactory. Extra hand or bath towels are extra - 5 euros. We bought tickets at the front desk for the double decker bus. Athough, we were given the wrong information regarding the location to catch the bus. Breakfast buffet set up without plates. The plates are set out on the tables, and there is not enough tables to accomodate the number of guests. Went out three times without success. I had to request a plate to take my toast and condiments back to the room, which seemed to confuse the hotel staff. My suggestion would be to put the plates on the buffet along with the coffee cups, saucers, juice glasses, etc. All in all our experience was pleasant and most satisfactory.

Good points: the staff(owners?) very helpful and well organized, our room(3-rd floor) was new and clean, location. Things we didn't like: our room with rear window with constant noise and smell from restaurant ventilation system. Breakfast is poor, breakfast room too small - we had to wait a couple of times.

The hotel was very close to resturants and shopping. It was very clean and comfortable. Everyone was extremely helpful with offering information on directions, places to eat, shop and mostly getting us back to the airport on time before our flight. If you are traveling back to the USA, I recommend getting to the airport 3 hrs prior to your departure. The airport was extremely busy and the number of security checks you must pass is extreme. Lines were long but moved quickly. Thank you hotel Italia. When we return, we will be staying with you. Ciao and Grazie !

Hotel Italia is a marvellous hotel. The staff is very friendly and competent, all the receptionist are superb. The location can not be better, 10 to 20 minutes walking to the main attractions of Rome. The receptionist are extremely efficient in finding info and resrvations. The room and the hotel were very clean, the bathroom was perfect and comodious.I felt very welcome at this hotel. Hotel Italia is a model of a very well run bussines. Our stay in Rome was perfect mostly because of Hotel Italia, thank you again. We love you.

Convenient location near the railway station. It is also near Via Nationale (so you can catch buses from there to almost all the major attraction ... with the Roma Pass, you get unlimited bus rides). Free wifi access in the room. The only thing that I didn't really like was the 10 Euro extra charge per night for air-conditioning. I think air-conditioning is a given (especially in summer) and should have been reflected in the total quoted price.

Ideally located. Very clean and very friendly staff. I could not find the car park described in the literature and at €40 per day I'm glad that I did not. I was lucky to park on the street for free in Via Genova (200m away from the hotel across Via Nazionle).

Rooms are Very small but clean with plenty of hot water. The host was very pleasant and helpful during our stay! Breakfast was adequate. It is a moderate hike from Termini Station(close to 1/2 mile which is a long way after transatlantic flight).Good location to explore from . Walking distance to many attractions. If you make around a 4-5 mile loop you can see about every tourist spot.Subway at termini is short ride to vatican.

Good Value for what we were seeking; Basic, no frills, but we didn't spend much time in the room. Rooms were clean and staff was courteous. Location was decent, within walking distance - 20 minutes of Colliseum - 15 to Termini - 20 to Fontana di Trevi, very close to metro station.

I stayed there for 1 night and it was a very unpleasant experience. Very small and uncomfortable room. There was no window, only some kind of way out to an patio full of garbage. On 6:30 in the morning some employees that walked in the patio waked me up. The location is acceptable, but definitely could be much better. It is not really close to main places of interest. Bottom line - better to pay 20-30 euro more and receive normal conditions.

We really loved this little hotel. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the location allowed easy access to surrounding sights (e.g., Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain). There is a great place to eat (Est! Est! Est!) conveniently located around the corner for late night pizza and the continental breakfast in the morning was very good. Would recommend this hotel for travelers of all ages who want a simple, comfortable hotel room without all the fancy, high priced (and unnecessary) trappings.

We stayed in Rome for 3 days and it was our first visit. I don't really think the property is walking distance form the Termini station, especially if u have luggage. The hotel told us it was a 10 min walk and with luggage and above 30C tempareture, it was tough, although we found it easily. I would recomend to take the bus from the station. Good central location if u are here for the first time and want to see all the touristic places! Internet access was good to have. Breakfast was OK. The room was small but had all u need and the renovated bathroom, alhough small was great, perfectly clean. Our room was on the second floor in another building across the street where the elevator functioned with 0,10 € but we never used it because it was an ordeal to get in and out of it. Overall I would recomend this property.

Italia is a modest hotel in the center of Rome. I was there for business and I was staying in my room for a few hours (except sleep). I have traveled enough though to say that it's probably the worst choice I had ever had regarding hotels. The price was great, I needed free wi-fi and I got it, but pls: 10 euros per day for air conditioning???? I would prefer to pay for wi-fi when Rome was boiling under 30-35 degrees daily! The room was really really small, the breakfast was nice but a small choice, the surrounding was quiet but the hotel itself was noisy. I should say it's not actually a hotel, but 38-40 rooms on a huge floor. I really don't know what lies above or below, maybe other "hotels"? The employees were helpful, the room clean every day and as I don't like whining, I stuck with what i got. After all, the choice I made was my fault.

We made two short stays in february 2009, so we had two different rooms. Both were tidy and quiet though we found the shower in both not very practical... Nevertheless, the hotel is near all major sites and we have walked all the time and never needed the bus or the metro. The breakfast was good. The internet facility for free was great. The employees were really nice and helpful. We might go there again. We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends. Also it's very close by walk from the train station so it was very easy to come by train with the Leonardo express from the international airport of Fiumicino and then walk to the hotel even with our luggages.

Loved the city, and loved the hotel too. Great price, I payed 50 euros with breakfast included(got to eat nutella in the morning!), and also the location is very good, near the Colosseum, Foro Romano and Palatino. At first it's a little weird because the hotel is located in the first floor of an old building(there is only a small sign to show where it is), but once you get there everything is fine. The employees are very nice and helpful, like all Italians I met there. I recommend it!

My wife and I stayed three nights at Hotel Italia in January 2009, and were very pleased with the facility. The staff was very nice and helpful, the hotel is pretty well located, not far from the Colloseum, the Forum, the train station and other interesting places. Several bus lines stop at the street corner, and a metro station is just four blocks away. The rooms are spacious (for European standards) and the only problem I found was that it's shower was pretty small. Not much room to move. They provide free wireless access, and they even provide you with a laptop on the lobby. When you arrive at the hotel you may be puzzled because it seems to be the entrance of an apartment building. The hotel is on the second floor (there is an old lift, that comes handy for tranporting the luggage), don´t worry.

Price compared to quality was perfect. Room had all it needed. location was very useful - you could reach everything very easily by foot. Also it was convenient that the railway station is close by. the hotel had the most old-fashioned charming lift ever. I saw a lot of peole moan about Italian breakfasts in hotels. Well, Italy is known for that they don't focus on breakfast, keeping it simple with a coffe and biscuit, in case some people didn't get that. This hotel had for Italian standards a good selection for breakfast.Nothing to complain about. I would def. stay in this hotel again on my next trip. It was quite cheap and had everything.

Located fairly close to Metro. Good area to shop that is not touristy. Some decent restaurants located close by. Walking distance to forums (1 km), Trevi fountain (about 1.3 km). We came by car, and as such had a little trouble finding it, but no more than finding a hotel in any bigger city in Europe. Accepted dogs. Hotel staff nice & helpful. Breakfast so-so, but being a 6'-1" 210 lb american, toast, yogurt and coffee classifies more as a snack than an actual breakfast. Heat worked fine. Couldn't hear much street or hallway noise, and I am a light sleeper. Paid 75 euros for a room I'd usaully find for 55-60 on venere.

It is walking distance from Termini, 5 minutes from Santa Maria Maggiore, 2 minutes from a tiny piazza where you can sit in the sun and watch the world, it is off via Nazionale, a wonderful shopping area, 5 minutes away from a Castroni and 3 minutes away from a supermarket, 3 minutes from a street-side market selling fresh fruit, farm-house cheese and cheap clothes and accessories. It is on the iconic 64 bus route that goes past every tourist attraction in the city for 1 Euro, walking distance from Fountain of Trevi, Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum. The rooms are silent (a big plus in Rome), the staff all speak excellent English and they actually offer all guests unlimited use of their laptop (connected to the internet) that is a straight saving of Euro 5 a day! Excellent cappuccino and espresso from the ever-smiling Franca every morning. All this for Euro 60 a day: it is like finding money free in the street, especially compared to the hotels I stayed in at Bari and Peruggia, not to mention a "better" hotel in Rome itself.

Nice hotel offering good value for money. The location was handy, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, and there wasn't much street noise. The location was great being about a ten minute walk to the Colliseum and Spanish Steps. It was on a quiet sidestreet with little street noise but noisy guests could be heard on occasion. Nice busy neighborhood with plenty of dining options. Our final bill was actually 30 euros less a night than what we were quoted on Venere.

Hotel Italia has a great location & friendly staff. The staff was very helpful with directions, recommendations, and setup of tours (a must in Rome). This was our first trip to Rome & it was amazing. The hotel was not very quiet (our headboard was against a wall that had a public restroom on the other side). I suspect that there are few hotels in Rome that can offer a quiet room equivalent to what we are accustomed to in the U.S. (they are all in older buildings)... it's a part of the Rome experience! I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rome.

we spent almost three weeks in italy, and all rooms were smaller than we have been used to, but for the money this was better than some hotels that were considerably more expensive. although not brand new, rooms were cofortable and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. a small hotel with a very comfortable feel. we woulod stay again when in rome.

le personnel est très sympa et accueuillant. Just a little problem of parking for our car because of the week-end ( it's close the Sunday beetween 10h and 18h and we were not informed)

This is the second stay at the hotel after 5 months of the first stay. I am impressed that the coverage of free WIFI signal in the hotel is much improved. I was able to connect to internet from my room.

I'm sure this hotel would have been great if we would have been in the same building as the reception area and breakfast. We were in the building across the street in a very small room on the 2nd (actually 3rd since the entrance floor is "0". Elevator was very slow and cost 0.10 Euro to use each time. It was very inconvenient having to go across the street any time we needed information or for breakfast or to use the internet. We were under the impression that there was wireless, but there was only a laptop in the lobby so it was only one person at a time. Breakfast was okay, would have been better with orange juice, a breakfast staple. The rooms were as hard as a rock and the water was warm at best. I would not stay there again at that price. Should have been a reduced price for rooms across the street. Would have paid no more than $100 per night to stay again. The location was great, despite everything else. We took the 110 bus and it was only about 2-3 blocks away to catch it. Hotel is within walking distance of most of the major sights. We walked to/from Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Roman Forum, Colosseum, Termini (without luggage).

Close to the train station and easy access to sightseeing and good food as well as being easy to find. Friendly, helpful staff - only really ideal for short stay as rooms small and bathroom tiny (and shower not hot!) but really good place to use as a base in that part of Rome.

Very helpful staff. Spoke clear english which was very helpful. Excellent location with the ability to walk to all sights except the Vatican, however a bus to there is available at the end of the road. Safe feeling in the general area, even at night. Would stay again

This was my first visit to Rome which I thoroughly enjoyed. You could not stay at better hotel well located to the Metro although you are in walking distant of many of the sights, The staff were very helpful breakast was good included in the price of your room very rare these days Will stay there again

The staff was friendly, wonderful and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The room was spacious though it lacked a nice "sitting" chair. Our only discomfort was the lack of fresh air in the room - the window was to the interior courtyard and all the smells from a restaurant below came in. Sometimes the smells were VERY overpowering and we had to shut the window which made the room incredibley stuffy.

This hotel had a central location at a very good price. Within walking distance of the main railway station as well as most historic attractions.

I stayed there for three nights, I found the staff very helpful. They recommended the Roma pass which was a very good idea for me, they were friendly and helpful. On the other hand, I think the price was way too high for the room I had. It was very small, not very clean and I did not fit in the shower cubicle. Also I find paying an extra 10 Euros a night for air conditioning plus the price of the room utterly ridiculous.

Good value for the money. Some rooms are more spacious than others but in general very small. Clean rooms and bathroom. One of the few hotels in Italy with free wireless internet. The staff was extremely helpful. The location is very convenient, close to Termini and it is very easy to take buses to go around the city.

The staff at HOTEL ITALIA is the best staff in Europe! They are so accommodating and pleasant and beyond competent. The only thing we didn't LOVE this time was the room. It was a bit smaller than last year and the air conditioning wasn't as cold AND the toilet and shower made horrifically loud noises. But we would stay at HOTEL ITALIA again--even in the same room--because we really feel at home there!

Just correct according to the price. Very small and noisy rooms. The big surprise was that the rooms were in a batiment on the other side of the road, 2nd floor, and we had to pay to use the lift !

i would love to see hotels with fridges and coffee and tea making facilities. the cost of food is so high in europe that having no fridges etc means we must pay for every cup of coffee (except breakfast) and every morsel of food we eat, can't even store sandwich facilities with no fridge, this makes it very hard to be able to afford to come back

Wonderful hotel. We were traveling with a party of six and had requested 2 rooms but were pleasantly surprised on our arrival to be upgraded to a huge apartment (at the same price) so we could all stay together. Staff was very helpful.

We loved staying at Hotel Italia as it was very conveniently located. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great. We took a quad room. The staff even held our bags for us when we visited Venice for 2 nights. The only downside I can think of is the bathroom was very cramped and the water would come out of the shower onto the floor!

We were very happy with the Hotel Italia. For a short stay in Rome it is quite good. We were travelling with two small boys and the hotel was more than accomodating. The family room was a bit cramped as in order to fit four of us they simply took a triple room and added another single bed. But, for one night it was fine. If you need it, the receptionist spoke perfect English. The breakfast was to a high standard as well, with multiple selections of breads and meats. The location is OK. Termini is easily walkable. You can also walk to the Coloseum and the Forum quite easily and thus, the Capitoline. Old Rome and the Vatican are a taxi or underground ride away. This hotel was very good value for money and would stay there again on a short stay.

I wish all European employees of small basic hotels went to the same training school as maybe the ones at the "Itlia" have been to. From the reception staff, chambermaids, lady who does the breakfast. They are excellent. Nothing seems too much trouble for any of them. It was my second stay at this hotel 3 years apart, it has improved in service, and although as a single traveller I only ever get a small room everything else makes up for it.

This is a great part of the city to be in. The air conditioning cost an extra 10 Euros a night and was necessary. The shower head would not stay in the correct place and even though this was mentioned nothing was done about it. One of the staff was excellent and booked museum trips etc, at no extra cost. The breakfast was average.

Hotel Italia is conveniently located since it's just a 10 min walk to the Stazione Termini and buses are also available just across the street. The hotel is also in walking distance to many of Ancient Rome's famous attractions such as the Colosseo, the Foro, Fontana di Trevi and others. The staff is courteous and very helpful with any information or service needed. A communication plus is that there is free internet service. The breakfast room is small but very elegant and the hotel staff is very attentive. Breakfast is good with a variety of croissants, cheeses, cereals, and yogurts. The hotel is located on the second floor but there is an elevator so there is no stress with luggage. Since there is so much to see in Rome the best part is feeling safe even when walking around late at night. Oh, don't forget to get a gelato when you visit the Fontana di Trevi. If in Rome again, I'd certainly choose this hotel.
