We stayed at the Hotel Italia on three different occasions on our recent trip to Italy, and in all three instances, the hotel and it's staff (special thanks to Abdul for all of your help and individualized attention before and during our stay!) never failed to meet our expectations. The hotel is very well situated so as to be easily accessed from all areas of Rome, especially close to the train station so we could walk in less than 10 minutes even with roller bags and crowded sidewalks! We were in rooms across the street on two of the three stays, and had no problem with accessing wi-fi, breakfast, or other hotel services, though on the first night the rooms were on the small side.

This Hotel is on the second floor of a building on a quiet side street off of the busy Nationzale. We liked that the hotel main door was locked 24 hours a day and you needed to buzz the ringer to enter the building. We arrived four hours earlier than our check-in time and expected to wait a while for our room. While we waited they offered us a free breakfast! We were told that they had a room ready within 20 minutes of arrival and they gave us a triple room for a double price!! They even helped carry our luggage to the room! You do have to pay 10 Euros a day for air conditioning. The front desk staff was very fluent in English and went out of their way to accomodate us. They recommended great restaurants for us to try, helped carry luggage to and from the room and were always very cheerful. We liked that the hotel had a very central location to the tourist attractions. Nice, clean, friendly hotel!

The Hotel Italia is a fine hotel located near the Metro and many of the main sights of Rome. The personnel at the hotel provided friendly and helpful advice on places to eat and thing to do and see. The rooms and the bathroom were clean and the breakfast room and food was fine (coffee, tea, bread, croissants and cereal). I would stay at Hotel Italia again and would recommend the to friends as a place to stay while in Rome.

We had a family of 8 over 3 rooms, including 2 kids in with parents in a family room, but the solo traveller would find value here too. All the staff were friendly and helpful but I particularly want to acknowledge the breakfast crew, so smiling and efficient. The locals' cafe one block down serves up great coffee and pastries, and there are a few well-priced restaurants nearby. We left thinking how clever we were to have found such an excellent hotel. (Thanks Venere.)

We stayed at Hotel Italia in October 2010 with another couple on an extended city break. The hotel is well located in easy walking distance of many of the attractions and historic sights. For trips further afield the Metro is only a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel is well presented and spotlessly clean. All of the the staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful, nothing is too much trouble to ensure that you have the best possible stay. They are very willing to spend time explaining transport, advising on the best use of the discount cards, the best time to visit places, arrange taxis etc. The rooms could be considered a little on the small side but are well decorated with good beds and bathroom. Buffet breakfast offered a limited but plentiful amounts of fresh bread, rolls, croissants (sweet and plain), yogurt, cereals, cheeses, honey, jam, eggs, fruit juice tea and coffee. Small but limited bar, free wi-fi and a hotel laptop for your use in reception plus an array of travel guides, maps and tourist literature. Only downside we found was the street noise could be a little loud with the windows open. In summary great location, great staff - would use again when in Rome.

Aircon was extra charge, and didn't work second night. There was no breeze, or fan, available--Just noise and mosquitoes. Shower was so small it was unusable, so went to one down hallway anyway. We had been told by hotel parking was 25 EUR per day, but we were charged 45 EUR per day, making this BY FAR our most expensive, and least enjoyable hotel in 18 days. Restaurant across street was good, though.

Hotel Italia was a good value for the money. It was a 10-15 walk from the train station and the surroundings seemed safe and were quiet at night. The hotel staff was friendly and spoke English well. The room was nice and had nice hardwood floors. The shower is tiny, though - my wife and I are slim people, but struggled to turn around in it while using the hand-held shower head. If you're a larger person I don't know how you would do it. We recommend this hotel.

This was a great value in a terrific part of Rome. It was really easy to get around the city on the buses or the metro two blocks away. The staff was friendly, spoke English and was helpful with all questions. The breakfast was typical for Rome and Europe in general. The only negative is that two of the five nights we had some construction starting very early in the morning directly overhead. I have no idea if this was the hotel or another owner as they have several floors in the building but it was annoying. There aren't many windows and it felt al little close at times but overall I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a brand new bathroom with beautiful tile and always had hot water. The beds are a bit hard, as they are everywhere in Europe but we also had a small frig in our room which came in handy.

We were completely thrilled with our decision to stay at Hotel Italia. The staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful when called upon. Questions asked in advance by email were answered promptly and thoroughly. The family room we were given accommodated the four of us (including two nearly grown boys) quite well. Our family likes to walk, and we were able to reach every sight we had time to cram in strictly on foot. The location is urban, so don't expect the silence of the countryside, but the hotel is located on a relatively quiet side street. On most nights this means just a little bit of traffic noise. (New Year's Eve was another story--but hearing the hoopla up close was fun, too.) There is a nice restaurant right across the street, and many more in walking distance. I would highly recommend staying here. I would also recommend taking advantage of the hotel's limo service to and from the airport.

It´s a very nice hotel, it´s clean and well organized. There is always someone there to answer to your travel questions. It´s also very well located, near the bus stop, the Termini and turist places as the Fontana de Trevi or the Victorio Emanuelle monument and it is 50 meters from Rue Nazionalle. The breakfast is OK and there is always a clean table. If at the time the tables are all occupied you can wait five minutes and you will have yours all clean and nice. The coffee is hot and well prepared. In front of this charming hotel there is a Pizza restaurant which is very good for lunch or dinner.

Thanks to Hotel Italia, my family had a wonderful short stay in Rome, their friendliness and professionalism couldn't be faulted. We arrived very late on the first night and they gave us the name of a restaurant that stays open all night and that was within walking distance of the hotel. They also upgraded the two singles we'd reserved to doubles since there was enough space at the time (mid-week). Thank you again Hotel Italia!

A high proportion of good comments led us to book. However, my partner found room lighting dim and the view onto a back courtyard disappointing. Cooking smells from another property were evident and we were advised to pay extra for air con for general ventilation. Despite that, it was very clean, safe, comfortable and the staff were friendly, competent, helpful and humorous. Breakfast is limited, as is the dining space; the hotel's rooms seem generally small. Hotel is in great location. Elevator is old fashioned. Restaurant recommendations were satisfactory. Transportation to the airport arranged through the front desk was also satisfactory. Extra hand or bath towels are extra - 5 euros. We bought tickets at the front desk for the double decker bus. Athough, we were given the wrong information regarding the location to catch the bus. Breakfast buffet set up without plates. The plates are set out on the tables, and there is not enough tables to accomodate the number of guests. Went out three times without success. I had to request a plate to take my toast and condiments back to the room, which seemed to confuse the hotel staff. My suggestion would be to put the plates on the buffet along with the coffee cups, saucers, juice glasses, etc. All in all our experience was pleasant and most satisfactory.

If you are traveling back to the USA, I recommend getting to the airport 3 hrs prior to your departure. The airport was extremely busy and the number of security checks you must pass is extreme. Convenient location near the railway station. It is also near Via Nationale (so you can catch buses from there to almost all the major attraction ... with the Roma Pass, you get unlimited bus rides). Free wifi access in the room. The only thing that I didn't really like was the 10 Euro extra charge per night for air-conditioning. I think air-conditioning is a given (especially in summer) and should have been reflected in the total quoted price.

There was no window, only some kind of way out to an patio full of garbage. On 6:30 in the morning some employees that walked in the patio waked me up. We really loved this little hotel. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the location allowed easy access to surrounding sights (e.g., Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain). There is a great place to eat (Est! Est! Est!) conveniently located around the corner for late night pizza and the continental breakfast in the morning was very good. Would recommend this hotel for travelers of all ages who want a simple, comfortable hotel room without all the fancy, high priced (and unnecessary) trappings.

It was a little disappointing to learn that our room was on the second or third floor in another building across the road. Apart from that everything was fine, the staff friendly and efficient

Italia is a modest hotel in the center of Rome. I was there for business and I was staying in my room for a few hours (except sleep). I have traveled enough though to say that it's probably the worst choice I had ever had regarding hotels. The price was great, I needed free wi-fi and I got it, but pls: 10 euros per day for air conditioning???? I would prefer to pay for wi-fi when Rome was boiling under 30-35 degrees daily! The room was really really small, the breakfast was nice but a small choice, the surrounding was quiet but the hotel itself was noisy. I should say it's not actually a hotel, but 38-40 rooms on a huge floor. I really don't know what lies above or below, maybe other "hotels"? The employees were helpful, the room clean every day and as I don't like whining, I stuck with what i got. After all, the choice I made was my fault.

We stayed in Rome for 3 days and it was our first visit. I don't really think the property is walking distance form the Termini station, especially if u have luggage. The hotel told us it was a 10 min walk and with luggage and above 30C tempareture, it was tough, although we found it easily. I would recomend to take the bus from the station. Good central location if u are here for the first time and want to see all the touristic places! Internet access was good to have. Breakfast was OK. The room was small but had all u need and the renovated bathroom, alhough small was great, perfectly clean. Our room was on the second floor in another building across the street where the elevator functioned with 0,10 € but we never used it because it was an ordeal to get in and out of it. Overall I would recomend this property.

Although we had 4 people sharing one room (we were a bit crowded), we still enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff was great, very helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean.

We stayed in a standard room for 2 nights. The room is comparatively small, but OK. I have to mention that the room is very clean. The hotel itself has a perfect location either for visiting or for shopping, restaurants..... All the hotel staffs speak fluent English and are very friendly.

A lovely little hotel in a very good location within walking distance of many tourist attractions. Also very close to bus stop which will take you to many sights as well. Rooms a little small but spotlessly clean and well kept. Staff are absolutely brilliant. They will go out of their way to help you and are always very pleasant. I would definately reccomend this hotel.

My wife and I had a pleasant stay in this hotel, the coffe was very nice and in general breakfast was good. Shower is small. The elevator is small too. The Hotel is near of bus stop, metro (subway)station even we can walk a few minutes to get to interesting places. I recommend this hotel if you look for a small, well located, pleasant and no expensive hotel.

Nice, clean hotel, great staff, and good location for touring...can walk to all the antiquities easily. The rooms are not big, but where in Europe are they? We'd stay there again in a minute. Great trattoria across the street...best food and service in town...good prices.

I brought a group of students to Rome and Hotel Italia was the perfect place for us. It is one of the few hotels in Rome to accommodate four people per room, and the location was so convenient to everything. The staff was wonderful and very helpful.

We made two short stays in february 2009, so we had two different rooms. Both were tidy and quiet though we found the shower in both not very practical... Nevertheless, the hotel is near all major sites and we have walked all the time and never needed the bus or the metro. The breakfast was good. The internet facility for free was great. The employees were really nice and helpful. We might go there again. We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends. Also it's very close by walk from the train station so it was very easy to come by train with the Leonardo express from the international airport of Fiumicino and then walk to the hotel even with our luggages.

Hotel Italia was very centrally situated for all the main attractions and was in a safe area. The fact that the hotel was on the first floor seemed rather unusual but we found the staff to very helpful with information re tours, taxi service etc. The buffet style breakfast was adequate and we were invited to eat as much as we wanted which meant we only needed a light lunch.

Loved the city, and loved the hotel too. Great price, I payed 50 euros with breakfast included(got to eat nutella in the morning!), and also the location is very good, near the Colosseum, Foro Romano and Palatino. At first it's a little weird because the hotel is located in the first floor of an old building(there is only a small sign to show where it is), but once you get there everything is fine. The employees are very nice and helpful, like all Italians I met there. I recommend it!

My wife and I stayed three nights at Hotel Italia in January 2009, and were very pleased with the facility. The staff was very nice and helpful, the hotel is pretty well located, not far from the Colloseum, the Forum, the train station and other interesting places. Several bus lines stop at the street corner, and a metro station is just four blocks away. The rooms are spacious (for European standards) and the only problem I found was that it's shower was pretty small. Not much room to move. They provide free wireless access, and they even provide you with a laptop on the lobby. When you arrive at the hotel you may be puzzled because it seems to be the entrance of an apartment building. The hotel is on the second floor (there is an old lift, that comes handy for tranporting the luggage), don´t worry.
