Hotel Imperiale is located in the heart of Rome, which is easily reached by using Metro Line A (stop at Barberini Station, and walk only 50 meters to the Hotel). The Hotel is very clean, the staff welcomeing is friendly enough, and the breakfast serve adequate foot. The room not too spacious, but OK since we need to be out of our room most of the time. The Jacussi in the bathroom is very nice (small but useful). However, do not fllow the instruction in the webpage to get to the hotel, it will bring you further from the hotel. Make sure you stop at the Barberini station, do not follow the instruction from the web page.

We had booked for 7 nights nights but only had us down for 5, but was quickly resolved. Upon checkout they wanted to invoice normal room rate and not special online price we was paying, but again quickly resolved. Rooms were small and basic with no tea making or ironing facilities, with no iron available from the hotel. Rooms were very clean and maintained every day. Some staff seemed unfriendly but having spent time in Rome this seemed to be just the Italian way and not a reflection on just the Hotel staff. Breakfast was continental and with plenty of selection every day. Location was excellent with the Metro 100 mtrs away, Spanish steps 10 minutes, Trevi Fountain 20 minutes and main shopping area 15 minutes with a good selection of restaurants nearby. A combination of location and quality reflects in the price of this Hotel, and I would personally say too expensive for the facilities offered.

Nice hotel. The restaurants in the area are pricey, but there are plenty of things within a couple of blocks. Right near the metro stop. There was a nice seating area on the roof of the 4th floor, but the view was just OK. Our room was great for our anniversary.

The first 3 nights we were put in a room in the back of the hotel which was small and depressing...after complaining incessantly they finally moved us to a room in the front of the hotel which was fabulous...If we had stayed in this room our whole stay I would give fabulous reviews but after getting our $1700/US bill for 5 nights I was not too happy about paying this steep price for the overall experience.

I went to Rome for the first time to visit a friend. We found hotel very easy. It is located on nice quiet street. If you walk to left, up the street you will find Borghese park and going to the right will be centre with all famous sightseeing’s. All in walking distance. Receptionist was very friendly, explained us all interesting places to visit and gave us a map. The room was nice, not too big and not too small. It was very quiet, no disturbance from outside. The bathroom was clean and beautifully decorated with marble. Only I was a little disappointed that we didn't have bathtub only shower. In general I was pleased with the hotel comparing with the price. Would go back there again!

We'd been there 4 days in December of the past year, and sincerely, the experience was fantastic. The city is very Romantic ans Spectacular and the hotel so good, and also very good located. The rooms have jacuzzi. The first day, they explain us the city and the best places, so it was very easier for us to visit. When we'll come back to Rome, sure, we are going to stay again in this hotel. Thanks for all!!! Carles & Marta

Venere took the photos of the lobby and a double room at the Imperiale Hotel and we thought what we reserved was what we would receive. When we checked in we received a standard room (#201). The next day, I inquired with print-outs of the lobby and the double room as advertised by Venere, I thought I reserved verses the one we received. The phote by Venere shows a "double" and the print out of the roomrate a "double". The staff said a double is a suite. And, they said our reservation calls for "standard" but no where did our reservation say that. Our reservation with Venere said "double". The staff said they would not stand behind what Venere photographed and the price quoted. They could not give us the "double" at that price. Of course we went on and on about the semantics, but for not. The desk clerk said she would move us if we were willing to pay an additional $75 euros a night. We actually considered it but with so much time out of the room it didn't seem prudent. I must tell you, we also booked a hotel in Palermo and the print out of the room we expected was the room we got. A beautiful large suite at the Mercure Hotel. There the staff, specifically Vencenzo were exceptionally accomodating. After two weeks of hotels "bed and breakfast" we were tired of the "same" everyday. The concierge "Mr. Joseph" at Imperiale was exceptionally accommodating getting us tickets for "David" reserved in Florence and telling us where to go to get roundtrip Trenitalia tickets at a nearby travel agent. I found the desk clerks to be exhausted from the same questions and appeared to be just tired of their careers. I read the 2004 travelers review and unfortunately, I had the same opinion. It must be mentioned here that I did write a letter to the Imperiale Hotel requesting: a bouquet of flowers, antipasto for two, a cold six pack of beer to be ready upon arrival and it was there! We were lost driving in Rome from Calabria, called, spoke to Seriana who

Room and services were exceelent enjoyed our stay but the breakfast buffet was not good for a 4 star hotel. The orange juice should be fresh orange juice not diluted juice and the fruit should have been real fruit not canned fruit. Other than that the breakfast was good.

Pleasant hotel in nice quiet area within walking distance of many sights, opposite bus stop for tourist bus and near to Metro stop. Room not large but clean and quite adequate for our short stay. Only minus point was the shower in the bathroom. Felt it could have been cleaner and the tiling needed refurbishment. However, contrary to previous reviews the air conditioning was on all night - this was much appreciated as the temperature in Rome at that time was 38-40 degrees. The breakfast was OK but not really up to 4 star standard. The reception and bar staff were helpful and efficient. On the whole a very pleasant stay.

We were very disappointed with this hotel. When we checked in the girl at the desk was rude. Our room was far from the elevator, up and down stairs, and tiny. We were staying for 4 days, therefore asked for a bigger room. We were told there were no rooms available, and if one became available we would have to pay more. We went looking at other hotels on Via Veneto and were pleasantly surprised. It was low season and we could get a much nicer hotel for the same price. The Imperiale is NOT a 4 star hotel! They would not let us out of our reservation, threatening that the booking agent would charge us anyway. I checked via email with Venere and was assured this was not the case. They did give us a choice of two other rooms, no extra charge. We ended up with a room with a small terrace and enjoyed it. The breakfast was poor but the location of the hotel was great. There appeared to be many unhappy guests, someone was always complaining at the front desk. When we checked out at 4:30 a.m., the clerk said he liked working this shift, because there were not as many complaints! They did have a good service to the airport, for a reasonable cost. Would not stay here again. But would definitely stay in the area...lovely!

Prior to my arrival, I had emailed the hotel explaining that my wife and I would be in Rome to celebrate my wife's birthday and requested a room with a balcony at the front of the hotel. Upon arrival the receptionist wished my wife a happy birthday and informed us that not only was the room available as requested, but that there another room available that was larger (but to the rear of the hotel) which we might prefer instead. Such attention to detail and thoughtfulness was typical of the staff during our stay. Excellent location at a very reasonable price too. Okay, the traffic did get going bright and early, it's the middle of Rome - what do you expect?

We were allocated a very small single room with an extra roll-away bed, having booked and paid for a double. We were too tired on arrival to complain, but did so the next day. We were told we would be moved to a double, but when I pointed out that we had spent a night in a cramped single, we were upgraded to a junior suite. There were a lot of guests on our first night, so obviously we helped with their availability problem by tolerating the single soom. It's interesting that we were only offered the suite upgrade as some form of compensation after I protested that we had had a bad night. Hot breakfast was not replenished as soon as dishes were empty, but only at odd intervals, meaining that some guests missed out. Hotel is fine generally and in a good location.

Definitely a hotel worthy of its 4 stars. Great location near to the Spanish Steps and a metro stop which was very handy for getting in from the airport. No need to get a taxi to the hotel. Room was lovely and had a nice marble en-suite. Some reviews seem to say that rooms are small. They may be small be US standards, in that there's only room for one double bed in the room - not two. However, there's as much rooom as you could need for a couple. I paid €150 for a double and for this money I think I really got good value. Wasn't expecting much for breakfast from the previous reviews but reckon that it's definitely worth getting out of bed for. The hotel is one the cheaper hotels in the area as there seems to be quite a few 5 stars around the Via Veneto district. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Me and my wife visited Italy in the first week of June 2004. During which we stayed in Rome at Imperiale and we must say it was one of our best experiences. Luckily our room was at the back side so the noise level was very low. The room was spacious and had a bath with Jacuzzi which we really enjoyed. Also it was very close from Barberini Metro station just across the street. Service was excellent. Continental breakfast was not very great but sufficient. The area was peaceful and clean. The hotel was nice, great location, price was reasonable. However, when we checked in at 8pm - they made us wait 15 mins due to "a late checkout" which sounded suspicious and it was. We had a booked a double bed but while we were waiting downstairs - they shoved an additional single bed into the room and tried to convince us that it was always there but you couldn't even open the door because the additional bed was blocking it. After much chat - they finally moved us to a room with a double bed. It was downhill from there regrding service - the people at the front desk were rude and unhelpful. We checked out and went next door to the Alexander hotel also on via venetto - they were brilliant, friendly helpful, nicer room and cheaper price. I recommend you replace Imperalie with Hotel Alexander on your list. Regards

Had a pleasant stay in the Imperiale. Good location with Metro and Spanish Steps nearby. Big plus: Non-smoking hotel, so no smelly rooms. Quiet room on the back of the building. Friendly staff, reservation was quickly confirmed by email (I had not trusted the automatic reply) and worked well. Only downside: Restaurants in the area are very tourist-oriented (overpriced, hectical) - eating is much nicer in other areas of the city.

Old style hotel. Nice rooms but no view or balconies. Don't expect an internet connection or any helping facilities to check your emails: they sent me to the internet cafe down the road in order to check my emails! (and I had a laptop with me...). Great Location - foot distance from a lot of sites but be aware: if you decide to stay there, ask for a X12 room (112, 212, 312 etc) as some of their other double rooms are twice smaller than this one (as viewed on the fire exit plan). Last thing: the jaccuzi bathtubs present in every rooms did a hell of a good job on my soar back after walking so much in Rome...

Our room was very clean and tidy but not very big. We had a view of the street but the air conditioning didn't work so ended up having to open the windows to get air during the night and had a disturbed sleep because of the noise from the street. The picture is not an accurate depiction of the outside of this hotel. That said, it was a very good location and had great access to all the areas we wanted.

I was delighted with my room at the Imperiale: they gave me exactly what I wanted! We had room #503 which has a great view up the Via Veneto and a tiny balcony with French doors that open to look at the view. Furnishings were beautiful and maid service fine. Since it's on the corner it is probably quieter than most rooms in such a busy area. The only problem at all was the service in the restaurant on our last night as they were also serving a large party in the bar and there clearly were not enough waiters for everything. I would absolutely stay at the Imperiale again - hopefully soon - in Roma.

The rooms were very tiny, I had a double and can not think how 2 people could be in that room. We chose this hotel because it said it had a/c which I need. Even though it was hot, I was told it would not be turned on until May 1. Disappointed.

I've never visited Rome, so I was going completely on trust when I booked a room at the Imperiale through Venere.com. My wife and I had just gotten married and Rome was to be the last leg of our round the world honeymoon. When I made the booking through Venere.com I was immediately sent a receipt, which I promptly filed away. I had the final stages of a wedding to prepare so I didn't manage to call the Imperiale to check to see that my details had been correctly processed. I needn't have worried. When my wife and I arrived at the hotel our room was ready and waiting for us. Moreover, I'd requested, through Venere.com, a room with a balcony and pretty view. I didn't really expect the request to be taken seriously, but when I opened the door to the room and switched on the light I was delighted to see that we indeed had a balcony on the top floor of the hotel with a view of Rome that was truly gorgeous! The hotel only had balconies on its top floor, so it was greatly appreciated that we had one. Venere.com was a more efficient and helpful travel agent than my actual travel agent! My travel agent couldn't come up with a Roman hotel with the location, price and standard that I required. With Venere.com and a little over an hour, I found the perfect Roman getaway at a price well below what the hotel usually charges! I guess it's pretty obvious I'll be using Venere.com for my next European adventure. In short, I recommend both Venere and The Imperiale (preferably the fifth floor with a balcony...) to anyone who is interested in a beautiful, well run hotel in the middle of Rome. Kind Regards Peter Agas agaspete@hotmail.com

I had a few questions at check in, the clerk said he would find out and call the room. Thirty minutes later no call. I went downstairs on my way out and asked again and was told "I'm too busy go and find out yourself". I also asked receptionist twice if the Italian phone card I just purchased worked from the hotel room. I was assured it did, it only worked on a public phone on the street. Luckily for me this was fourth trip to Rome and didn't have to rely on their knowledge for assistance upon arrival. The hotel is very overpriced even with Venere.com discount. They were Excellent in ordering me a car to go to airport at 5AM and knocking on my door at 4:30AM to make sure I was up to go to the airport. I would have rated this hotel with lower marks if the departure wasn't so good.

A very nice hotel, our room was upgraded to one with a balcony, great size, jacuzzi. The Staff are very friendly and helpful. One snag only , some metal plates/grids on the road in front of our room made a terrible noise adding to a very noisy traffic, it took us a couple of days to adjust to the noise levels , heavy double glazing would be great for room 212 :)) A fantastic time overall though.

After flying for nearly 13 hours, we arrived in Rome tired and relieved to reach our hotel around 7-8pm. Imagine our surprise when we were told that they did not have our reservation. I produced my reservation page, complete with confirmation. I was told that it didn't matter because they had NO rooms left. None tonight or tomorrow, maybe for your 3rd night. Nothing we can do. There is a hotel around the corner. No help with arranging accomadations. Hotel they referred to was more like a 1 star hotel. Without having computer access and the pressing need for a hotel that night, we ended up at a hotel nearby and had to pay twice the price that we had reservations for (they only had a room for one night, so we took it). The following day we cut our sightseeing short to come back and look for a new room. One saving point to the Aprile, the new person at the reception told us that they were booked, but she would see what she could do. She came back 15 minutes later with a room for us. After we finally got a room, the staff was pleasant and most of them helpful. Because we had a confirmed reservation and it was Imperiale's mistake, I would like to see them pay the difference of the price we were quoted and what we ended up having to pay for our first night.

Our room was very small by any standards (European or American). I'd estimate it at approximately 120 sq ft. It was nicely appointed and the bathroom was fine, but it was very clearly a tight fit for two people with luggage. The location of the hotel is very good-central location near the Spanish Steps (a five minute walk), Borghese Gardens and right on the Via Veneto. We walked to all the major attractions in Rome from the hotel without any problem. This hotel is not a luxury property, but if you are interested in something better than average without paying the high rates of the true luxury hotels, Imperiale works. The front desk was helpful enough (they spoke English and took care of most of our needs) and the included breakfast was adequate (good but not anything special). We didn't expect a lot from Imperiale so we were quite pleased with the stay. We knew we'd be giving up space and service for the lower price and that's what we got. Again, though, this hotel is a good choice if you want something that is nice without being oppulent with a good location. We paid about 230 euro a night.

Overall a pleasant stay - we were part of a wedding party and as such the hotel met our needs. It was disappointing not to have been able to borrow an iron from reception to de-crease our wedding outfits - apparently their only iron was broken but no alternative was offered.

A perfect choice and a great location. The metro is down the street which was very helpful in getting around the city. Would definately recommend.

Bedrooms were excellent, we had a slight problem which was resolved very quickly by the Hotel staff. I did feel that the hotel was let down slightly by its public areas and dining room.

This hotel is in a great location, a beautiful street with shops and restaurants. The buffet breakfast was included and had eggs, meat, cheese, breads, cereals, etc. I would stay there again.

The hotel was ideally situated for visiting the sites of Rome. The hotel was comfortable and the internet pricing made the whole week superb.. We will definately revisit again.

The noise level alone the via Veneto was pretty loud but not enough to prevent sleeping. My only complaint was the cold water pressure was almost non-existent. This was reported several times but never fixed. It caused overly hot showers and 45 minute flushes of the toilet. All in all, I'd stay there again but check the noise level and water pressure at check-in.
