In the center of the center. Avoid the rooms on the groundfloor (quite an ugly one) or on the first floor, since the road outside is a bit busy.

Super nice staff and great value hotel. The AC could have worked a little better but overall an excellent experience! Very clean and nice. Breakfast is decent but just a short walk down the way, a little cafe has amazing morning croissants and pastries.

I was very satisfied, considering the position (the very center of Rome, just behind the Fori Imperiali) the price was good and the room was very nice. Everything in the room was working properly, and the staff was friendly and nice. When I have to go back to Rome, I'll probably go again to this hotel.

Four of us shared a two-bedroom suite for four nights. Rooms were small (typical) but extremely well appointed. Bathroom was great; breakfast was generous. The staff rates an A+. They were very kind and could not have been more helpful (cheerfully rescuing us when we locked ourselves out of our room--twice). Great location--we could walk to many places, and the hotel is a half block from the bus that goes to the Vatican. I have only one complaint--the website shows a roof garden that we were informed is now in private hands. We were looking forward to drinking our wine on the roof and watching the sun go down over Rome.

Very nice hotel. Very well located, it is a 5 min walking distance from Fontana di Trevi and Piazza Spagna, and the hop on hop off bus stop is just 2 minutes away.Termini is just 15 min away walking distance. Breakfast is included and was very good and complete. We strongly recommend this hotel, the staff was very nice and friendly.

Location of this hotel is one very good. Bus for the main places in Rome are just the other side of the street. From bus: 5 minutes from Termini station, 10 minutes from Collosus, 20 mintes from Vatican. Also 10 minute walk from Trevi Fountain. Breakfast were very good. Size of the room was also good.

Excellent location. Choice at breakfast better than I expected (included eggs, bacon, sausage as well as usual continental choice). Hotel staff pleasant and most spoke English. Having air conditioning was a godsend and made up for the fact that the mattress on the bed tended to sag a bit. I would certainly go back but would consider upgrading to a better room.

Quite good. Warm welcome. Had a spacious, nice and clean family room for 4. Good bathroom with sort of jacuzzi and nice shower. Central location, very convenient for many sights. Not really quiet as busy road nearby. Capricious airconditioning. All in all good value for money.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hiberia. It is on quite a busy road but we were on the 3rd floor and, even though at the front of the hotel, the traffic noise did not bother us. We chose a superior room which was quite spacious by Rome standards, and were very comfortable, though it would have been a little crowded had the double sofa bed been pulled out as a bed. The bathroom was lovely as ws the jacuzzi bath, when we could get it to work. Breakfast was fine, with a good selection of cereals, breads and included cheeses, and cold meats. Scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages were also available - but this is not the full English! There were machines for tea and coffee but we discovered the lady at the bar will make proper coffee if asked. Much better. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was great for the Colosseum and the Forums but possibly as a consequence there were not many restaurants close by. The best we found was the Trattoria Melo, on the steps leading down towards Trajan's column. A good experience and would stay there again.

This hotel is only a few minutes walk to the Coliseum and I would definitely stay there again. The staff is friendly and try their best to help in any way. The rooms were clean, but I'm not sure there's hope of a quiet area anywhere in Rome. Highly recommend this hotel! But be warned that although the hotel is air conditioned, they have to switch of the heating first, so an unexpected warm spring night will mean you are spending the night in an un-airconditioned hotel.

Hotels in central Rome are all expensive - this one seems to offer decent VFM. Fairly easy walking distance of the forums area and many other major sights. Even the Vatican was only 45 mins walk. Hotel breakfasts were good enough - just ask the staff at the bar for a fresh coffee rather than drinking the stuff from the machine. Some decent restaurants nearby if you can't be bothered walking too far - try the one in the alleyway behind the hotel or one of the ones on via della Pilotta.

Good hotel, good location, within easy walking distance of all main attractions. The room was excellent, cleaned every day to a good standard with fresh towels, and the jacuzzi shower was fantastic. Breakfast was more than adequate. Staff welcoming and spoke good English. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome.

Disappointed by this hotel. Great location and relatively good value for central Rome but we were very cramped in the 'de luxe' family room on the top floor. So-called 'jaccuzzi' bath floated out bits of black film when my son used it and he ended up bathing in dirty water. The old cage style lift broke down during our stay and the walk up steep stairs to the top was far too much for my young kids. Breakfast was one of the worst I've had in a hotel - foul tasting 'orange juice', dry breads, tepid water for tea, vending machine coffee. Booked through Venere but they managed to add an extra 60 euros to my bill at the end - only after I'd paid on credit card did I query the bill and they refunded it in cash. The site is narrow so there is no proper central area to sit. I usually like small old hotels but I found this one charmless - and actually terribly touristy. I think for a family room in central Rome at a reasonable price on might do better staying in an apartment. The best thing was the very central location.

Ignore the hotel stay moaners!! This hotel is just ideal for short stay holidays in Rome. Central, comfortable, and clean and very close to the main attractions. The breakfast offering was very good indeed. The staff spoke excellent English and nothing was too much trouble. This will definitely be our first choice should we return to Rome.

The location of this hotel is excellant. It centrally located to all the attractions. The staff spoke very good english and was very helpful. Ask for a room in the back of the hotel. You will have a beautiful view of the rooftops of Rome. The only downside of the hotel was the shower stall. There was no base in the floor to contain the water and with nothing more than a shower curtain to pull around the shower area, water got all over the bathroom floor. Otherwise, we were very pleased with this hotel.

Rooms were small as expected. Price through Venere was very good. The elevator is a real antique but worked well. Breakfast, while nothing special, did have scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon (limp) on the buffet. Front desk personnel were very helpful and arranged tours as well transportation to the airport. Location is great. Easy walking distance to main attractions such as Trevi Fountain and Colosseum.

3 couples had 3 very different quality of room although all were supposedly 'superior' for which we paid extra. Bar and lounge areas were very poor, in terms of capacity. Hotel was very well situated within easy walking distance of many attractions - this is probably why it seemed overpriced for the overall quality.

well sited hotel within 5 minutes walk of trevi fountain and restaurants.an updated old building with some private appartments leading off the central staircase. has a quirky old lift shaft with lovely encircling marble staircase. we had a suite comprising 2 bedrooms , bathroom, entrance hall and veranda. the view was toward the quirinale palace. efficient staff v clean rooms. breakfast buffet slightly disappointing but wide range of food available.small entrance lobby and bar-a place more to sleep and breakfast rather than hang out! my only problem was our whirpool bath didnt whirl to the disappointment of my daughter despite my request for its repair. i would recommend this hotel to my friends and would stay again

The hotel staff was friendly and responsive to guest needs. The good and bad points of this hotel stem from its location. The location is good for walking, public transport, and access to many of the business and tourist attractions of Rome. However, the hotel is on a steep hill and on a main road (via XXIV Maggio). There is continuous traffic and traffic noise as vehicles ascend the hill under full power. Therefore, the location is very noisy. Also, the sloping site gives rise to grade changes within the hotel. There are no ramps to move luggage. I would not recommed this hotel to anyone with physical limitations. Internet communications were not good at this location.

This property has a good location near the Forum and walking from the train staion is possible, although pretty hot on the August day we did it. The welcome from the staff was good and a bellmen took our bags to the room via the antique elevator. The room was hot. Even though the A/C was running, it never really cooled down until our third night. The bellman showed us the jacuzzi shower with pride. The shower is a piece of junk. The bathroom could have accomadated a large shower or bathe but instead had a small corner shower that just never seemed to work. Without touching it it would go from hot to cold or even stop. That said, the staff was extremely helpful and spoke English without any problems. They gave us info on buses, restaurants, taxis, etc. It is sad that the quality of facilities will not allow me to return because we really liked the location and the staff.

The Hiberia was excellent. We were at the end of our rope by the time we arrived and the desk clerk got our room ready early so we could go on up. They were very friendly and helpful our entire stay. The breakfast was very good. The elevator was like something out of a old movie but worked fine. In fact it really added to the atmosphere. The rooms were very nice.

The Hotel Hiberia provides what it should as a three star hotel: great location (for families short walk to forum and other highlights, while being in a nice area), very clean rooms, good sound proofing. My greatest disappointment was the breakfast. There was ample food, but the kitchen staff seemed to top up old food with new, eg the tinned fruit was sour, the milk was a bit off. When they ran short of crockery, we observed them just rinsing the cups and plates under the tap, rather than going through a full washing process. It put us off more than a bit!!! I think the staff are slack, and this could be fixed,

Great location, close to some very nice small restraurants. Would stay there again. Warning, you are about 5 blocks from the train station. The taxi we got charge us 50 euros for the 5 of us and we could have walked to the hotel in 20 minutes. Bus stop to Vatican right across from the hotel, beware of the bus police. We were not aware that you had to use the ticket machine on the bus and we got fined 50 euro for that. Hotel itself and location are great. You are withing walking distance to the Colosium and many other places.

Quad Deluxe Room was larger than expected and larger than similar property you'd find in New York City. Beds were rock hard and Queen is 2 twins pushed together. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generally good and includes hot foods such as scambled eggs, ham, bacon, salami, and a hot dog type meat. 5 minute walk to Trevi Fountain, 10 minute walk to Piazza Venezia (bus area), 15 minute walk to Spanish Steps or Termini Station, half and hour to Campo Di Fiore or Piazza Navona. Probably most safe location in Rome as just 1 block from Presedential Palace (Quirinale Palace).

Customer Service at it's best! Friendly staff. All Front Desk Personnel spoke English, which was so helpful. Very accommodating. Hotel is attached to a lovely little restaurant where we received a complimentary breakfast each morning. Small Bar in the Lobby and one computer for internet connection. I believe all rooms are internet ready as well if you have a laptop. Hotel is in a great location. Just a short walk from the Roman Forum, Colliseum, etc. Only negative would be the rooms are very small for the price. Would definitely recommend.

It was a first time I/we stayed at Hotel Hibernia, which I have choosen based on my surfing on the web, through ViaMichelin ... My main criterion was the proximity of the most famous monuments and sites, which the hotel almost perfectly satisfied. I could imagine a lower price, but it seems the accomodation in the (historical) centre of Rome is not a cheap one (at least according to surfed web pages of various hotels and other facilities ...). To sum up, it seems to me it was a good choice if the first target of a visitor in Rome is a good location and the price is less restrictive factor. In any case, also thank to the possibility to reach all we wanted to see by walking (we even walked to Via Appia Antica - as that day there was a running Sunday in Rome, without any bus being easily reachable ...) we have had a very pleasant stay in Rome

Hotel Hiberia was excellent for our British/American family of four. We would definitely stay here on another trip to Rome. The location is great -- about a 15-20 walk to the Colosseum; and also about a 15 minute walk (or less) to Trevi Fountain. We thought the rooms were a very good size, especially for a European city. Our quad room for family of four was great, with kids in a separate room. Staff were very friendly. There was a problem on our first night since the quad room wasn't ready due to an ill guest not leaving as scheduled. The hotel had to put us in two double rooms for the first night, but they were very apologetic and efficient at making sure our luggage was moved the other day. There was some noise in the rooms from street traffic, but it was minimal and to be expected in a city. The restaurant attached to the hotel served a very good breakfast buffet including cereal and eggs/bacon in addition to pastries. Dinner at the restaurant was ok, but we much preferred finding out of the way trattoria's with more atmosphere.

We are a family of 4 and stayed in a quad room at the Hotel Hiberia - it was PERFECT! The room was comfortable, the location of the hotel fantastic and all the employees were welcoming and accomodating. We walked pretty much everywhere except for taking the local bus to St. Peter's (which the desk clerk explained for us!) The breakfast buffet was abundant and very good and we also utilized their shuttle service to and from the airport (DEFINTELY use this!) We would HIGHLY recommend the Hotel Hiberia!

Hotel Hiberia is ideally situated in the heart of Rome - yet, staying in a room at the back of the hotel, we could sleep with the window open, it was so quiet! I highly recommend it.

We had a great stay at hotel Hiberia. We were welcomed warmly by the staff and management. Both helped us out when the night before our departure our kids locked all our belongings in the room safe. No problem they took care of it, even though management was out. They also aranged transfer to the airport at the last minute. We (my husband, self and 2, 4 y/o's) stayed in a standard quad room. I would definately upgrad if we were four adults or larger children. It was a little tight for 5 days, but we managed fine. The room was clean, I wouldn't say pristine but we had no problem with it. The location was fantastic! Close to everything (forum, coloseum and the hop on hop off bus stops). The restaraunt was nothing great. We ordered to take to our room, the pizza was good Lasagna OK. There is a great "snack shop" across the street with great food - inexpensive. We went their almost daily for soda, water, wine and snacks. Friendly people. The best thing about the hotel is the location, the worst was the morning coffee and juice next door. I mean this was the absolute worst coffee I have ever had in my life. No problem though down around the corner was a great cafe with awsome coffe and taramisu, not a bad way to start the day.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hiberia. The staff was most professional and very helpful, especially Paolo and Damiano. They assisted us quite extensively coordinating with the airlines to find and recover our lost luggage. The accomodations provided were as advertised. The Quad Deluxe Room was a little tight for a family of four, but was considerably large as per European standards. I add my voice to those who are generally very pleased with the value and cleanliness of the hotel. The rooms are not all equally sized or appointed (as one sould expect from a small midtown hotel, but we asked for and were given without hesitation a room large enough for us and our cruise luggage). Staff is friendly, English spoken at the front desk very well, location is fantastic to the Coliseum, Trevi, Pantheon, and Spanish steps (short bus ride to the Vatican), hotel is clean, breakfast okay, bathroom facilities different (but clean) to me (shower pad) and I would recommend easily this hotel for someone on a budget. It is a good value and pleasant place to stay. Abruzzi Restaurant about ten minutes away (toward Pantheon) fantastic local tratoria.

This is an ideal hotel for a short break in Rome. A very short walk from excellent restaurants and a very short walk from the Fontana de Trevi and Vittori Emanuele monument. Clean hotel, great staff and the pre booked taxi to the airport well worth taking. Hop on; hop off bus, stops just around the corner and great for a first day fact-finding tour. After that, you can walk to the major sites if you wish or use the bus. Generally, it’s quicker to walk! Beware the horse drawn carriages, great fun but haggle or you will pay 150 Euro for 30-min ride. We got our ride down to 100 Euro for a family of 4. If we go back to Rome we would definitely stay at this hotel again, highly recommended!

We thought the location and staff were wonderful. They went beyond what you might expect. The hotel was clean and breakfast was good. The showers were a little small expecially if you were a large man or women. We got along fine as we are not large people. The elevator was very old style, but operated fine if staff and guest closed the door so the elevator would operate. We took the stairs to keep in shape as there are a lot of steps in Rome. :)We would recommend this hotel again and we would stay there again. We traveled with two other couples. Excellent proximity to the old city. Walking distance to Trevi Fountain, Presidential Palace, Forum, Colisseum, Palantine Hill and other sites. Loved the old cage type elevator - but make sure to close the door when you get out or those on other floors can't call it. Read the comments about being able to get on the tour bus. That is not exclusive to the Hiberia. Most people get on and don't get off. We found it best to get on at the train station and even then if you aren't there early there may be a lengthy wait. In spite of that it is worthwhile as it helps you understand the location of various sites you may want to visit and whether you can walk or should take a taxi. The continental breakfast was limited compared to other places we stayed in Italy.

Great location close to most of the sites one comes to Rome to see for the first time. Easy walking distance to Quirinale, Trevi, Forum etc. Reception staff not particularly welcoming or friendly. Gave information if asked but we would rate only one or two of the staff as being friendly and helpful. The room we had was very spacious, the bed large and comfortable and although the bathroom was very small, it was always sparkling clean. Breakfast was good for a non-cooked breakfast. Our room was very beautifully appointed, and the bathroom was luxurious. It was the nicest hotel we stayed in on our 16 day vacation. However, it is expensive, like all hotels in Rome. The nearby restaurant served a good breakfast, and we ate one of our evening meals here as well. Only drawback was lack of internet access as there is only terminal available and the cost per hour was several euro. The location could not be beat and the taxi arranged for us for our very early morning flight out of Rome was prompt and reliable. A beautiful hotel!

We visited Rome, Florence and Venice. This was the best experience we had in terms of the hotel and the services provided by the hotel. The staff, both during day and night was extremely friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is the best part - amazingly central, one can walk practically everywhere from the hotel. The breakfast was very nice also. I would surely stay here again and certainly recommend the hotel. Only thing that I did not like was the room was very small for a family of 4;However, they did offer to move us to a larger room, we did not move after the first night. I can't emphasise how central this hotel is from everywhere!

The price was a bit high for a 3* hotel. Otherwise, it met our expectations, service was very good with one exception: dinner reservation was made for a restaurant that was closed for the day. We experienced difficulty arranging reservations for 11 people in three groups: six grownups and five children. We split up into 4/4/3 with one of the children sleeping in the room with grandparents. We survived well.

Hotel was reasonable and in a good location. Had a frustrating arrival--could not find driver to take us to the hotel. Friends had to hire other driver and pay twice as much. Manager said he would pay for our cab to the train station but did not pay the cab as promised and we had to pay upon arrival. Otherwise, the hotel was clean but did not have a rooftop terrace as advertised--at least we did not see it. Hotel fine but staff misleading.

This hotel was wonderful. We loved our visit to Rome and were very pleased with the hotel, staff, and location of the hotel. Our only dissapointment was that our deluxe room did not match the pictures of a deluxe room on the web as we had no view of the city. Other than that we loved everything!

Enjoyed our stay, quadruple room was well decorated and very spacious, location was excellent. Only negative was the lack of public/lounge areas and a small bar.

Hiberia was clean and efficient. The room we had was surpisingly spacious and the bathroom was nice. Breakfast was good too and if you get there early the woman will make you a cappucino (rather than sending you to the automatic machine which makes worse quality coffee). The check-in process was a bit hectic but everything went fine. This hotel is nothing special but it is easy to get to from Termini (5 minutes on the bus or a 15-20 minute walk. Our main knock was the price which was way too high for us to be pleased - 230 euro a night!

I highly recommend this place--we stayed in March and got a great deal. Loved that they picked us up at the airport with those signs "Dr. Gilderbloom" very cool. Breakfast was better than Venice or Holland a pleasant surprise. Also, very cool they upgraded our room to the Presidential room at no extra charge. And I really am not a celebrity or even really that well known. That blew me away. So I give this place an A+++++. Thank you. I think the Hotels in Venice could learn a few things from you.

Great location quarter mile from Piazza Venezia, very central for walking, and cross town bus stop is half a block away. We were in 4 different rooms over 2 stays. All the beds were top quality not squishy and saggy. Rooms facing the street (Via 24 Maggio) are very noisy well into the night, but staff was very accomodating about changing rooms. Desk clerk was helpful and made concert reservations for us. Breakfast cappucino was the best of the 5 hotels we stayed in, no fresh fruit though.

Hotel Hiberia was everything Venere.com said it was. We got a Quad Deluxe room and it was great. The jacuzzi tub/shower was AMAZING. The bathrooms were modern and very clean. The staff was very friendly and they spoke English well.

I booked all my rooms in Italy through venere.com/eurocheapo.com and relied heavily on customer reviews to base my decisions on which hotels to stay at. If you read my other reviews, you will see that I have fairly modest standards and tend to rave positively at the slightest whiff of quality. With the Hibernia, I have to complain. The facility was located well, right next door to Italy's Prime Minister's home (Italy's White House), and we saw Berlusconi twice. The Uzzi toting secret service protecting him made for our safest night in Italy. It is a nice walk to the Forum, Colluseum and Trevi fountains. The rooms were very nice and quite clean, and the people manning the front desk spoke good english and welcomed us appropriately. My beef is with the owner. Although he was friendly enough, his schrewdness felt less than welcoming. He needs to be reminded that the hotel business is also the hospitality business, and he was something less than hospitable without being outright mean-spirited. He seemed to set the mood for his staff, which seemed very green to me. I suspect a high turn-over in staff here. Make no mistake about it: this is a money-making operation, and you are a number he is counting. He has done the very minimum to squeeze by a three-star rating. Yes, they serve breakfast (a very good one), but it is self-serve, it is contracted with the restaurant next door and is marginally on premises. Yes, there is a public space, recently redecorated and visually stunning, but it is tucked into the back of the lobby, has bench seating on one side of a narrow room facing a wall, and is dominated by an internet kiosk taking up prime sitting space. No one was hanging out there during my stay. There is a bar -- three stools -- but the bartender will be quick to ask that the drinks be added to your room. They cannot make change at the bar and he could not quote the prices of the drinks they are serving. There was no published menu. The picture of the place that I saw on

Hiberia was a lovely small hotel. For a big city hotel, I guess the price was okay. It was close to many of the sites, especially the ruins, but it was a bit difficult to find. The staff was friendly & very helpful. Our only complaint was the silly shower - it was very small & water ran all over the floor. Breakfast was servicable.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to others without hestitation. The location was excellent, within walking distance to most major historical sites and right around the corner from a bus station. We had a quad room which had plenty of room for a family of four and had a clean, recently updated bathroom/shower. The staff at this hotel was friendly, spoke great English and were willing to assist with any request. Thanks for a great stay, Hiberia.

The staff was helpful and friendly. The location was relatively accessable to almost all of the main attractions, most within walking distance. There was an available coin operated computer for internet use which was very convenient.

For a European hotel, it is a very nice. Not to be compared to a 4 or 5 star Wyndham or Marriot, eventhough that by the price you might think so. Great location and clean! I would stay there again.

Location quite convenient to all areas in Rome, and they got very good breakfast with many variety. Staff are polite and helpful. Although the juguzzi in the bathroom isn't much of use but you can't really ask for more with this rate.

The booking online said the room included a jacuzzi bath/Shower. What the website didn't make clear was that this is EITHER bath OR shower and you're not guaranteed a bath. The staff though were very helpful and gave us a room immediately with a bath. The price on the website was 560 euros for the stay but it only came to 425 euros! Very nice but whey below the price online. Excellent location and staff all speak very good English- even the cleaner! Recommended! A word of warning, remember to collect your passport from the desk on leaving!

L'hotel est bien placé par rapport aux différents sites touristiques(Trévi, Colisée...), les chambres sont peu spatieuses mais renovées récemment et le petit déjeuner est correct.Pour visiter Rome, cet hotel est vraiment idéal

The hotel was very well located, a short walk from most tourist attractions, and about 40 minutes walk from the station. We were a bit disappointed with the size of our room (very small) but it was furnished to a high standard. Our room was at the back of the hotel which should have been quieter with no traffic noise, but we were disturbed by early morning deliveries each day; best to keep the window closed when you go to bed. The breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice. In our opinion the hotel was very good value for money, and we would stay there again.

There isn't alot I can say against the Hiberia, Our stay was fantastic. You are definately paying for location, everything was well within walking distance, even the Vatican (although we did get a cab back-which cost 8 euros)The resturant next to the hotel (where breakfast is served)was lovely, plenty of choice and a good price. We would stay there again.

We were a party of 8-which included two singles and 3 couples- when we arrived we found that the single rooms did not have en suite bathrooms and there is no warning on the booking info - the other 3 double rooms were fine -- the management promised that it would only be for one night that they would have to run down the corridor with a towel around them if they needed the loo in the middle of the night! BUT the management then went back on their promise and instead decided to let their promised rooms to some people who wanted to extend their stay in preference to our new bookings -- this was BAD MANAGEMENT TO GO BACK ON THEIR WORD without any further offer of compensation --it was only after further complaining that on the last night ( of 4) that our 2 lads each got rooms with ensuite. This took the edge of what was quite a good hotel for the price and what would have been an excellent hotel - the location is absulutely spot on. There is nothing in the booking info that tells you that single rooms have no bathroom! Make sure you book doubles !! Mixed results are therefore awarded in the feedback- its a good job there is not a score for the management!!
