Came to Rome on a business trip and stayed at the Grand Palatino, all colleagues were really pleased with the Hotel choice. Rooms were fine, staff were friendly and courteous. It was a little bit noisy for those with rooms overlooking Via Cavour - but hey, that's Rome for you!

Grand Palatino is an excellent hotel. You can walk to most every thing you want to see. Hotel is also close to a subway station, one stop from the main train station. Rooms and the breakfast are both great. One of the best hotels in Rome all things considered.

AMAZING hotel & beautiful rooms for a reasonable price! Prime location, great service & good breakfast! The room was huge.. it was beyond my boyfriend's & my expectations. Centrally located. 2 minute's walk to the Colosseum & 1 minute from the 'Cavour' metro stop. Great hotel.. we will be staying here again!

We stayed 3 nights in May. The room was spacious and nicely furnished but located on the 1st floor and with no windows except a thin horizontal one next to the ceiling, so no view at all and a feeling of being in an underground room. Similarly sized rooms but 2nd floor or higher should be fine. There were 2 breakfast rooms but only 1 of them had organic food corner at the buffet, and we were directed to one of the rooms without possibility to choose, so this was a bad point.

first of all - great location near coloseum. the room design was not modern - could do with some renovation. breakfast was very good and pleasent (prefer the smaller breakfest restaurant). the staff was very polite, but seems not very usefull in helping around rome... at the bottom line - it was very good for the price we paid, and very pleasent.

The hotel had a great location and the breakfast was one of the better ones I've had in Italy. The hotel rooms definitely didn't feel like 4-star quality, but we also weren't paying 4-star prices. Overall, the value was very good.

We were lucky to be upgraded to the suite, all rooms are clean, spacious and prices are worth it, receptionist was helpful, maps were provided, breakfast was also good, milk, cheese, cold cuts, cereals, fruits, juices, breads etc. just like staying in a 5 star hotel. Very close to colloseum and palatine hill, roman forum and santa maria maggiore on the other side, in front of the hotel is a stair going up to San Pietro in Vincoli where Michaelangelo's Moses can be seen, nice base to explore rome. Pasta places, Elite grocery and a lot of restaurant nearby. Nearest to cavour station and about 10 min walk to termini station

The location of the hotel is excellent, easy to find by walking from termini station and close to the historical centre within walking distance from the Colosseum and other sights. The triple room is spacious, but may need some renew especially for the bathroom and for the noise insulation. (parts of the hotel was under renovation, but it was not disturbing) There is free internet acces using your laptop or on the tv in the room or on pc-s in the hall. The buffet breakfast was full and fine. The only bad thing is the trafic noise in the room: ask room on the aft side of the hotel!

The price charged is excessive for the overall standard. Perhaps it should be the half. The room size is relative standard - but i had expected some thing better to the price. The first night we went early to bed. At 21.00 the maid walked right in and disturbed our sleep. For what purpose i dont know. At 22.00 some people walked right in and disturbed our sleep again. It was a chock that total strangers had a keycard to our door. Fallen asleep again the reception cleark telephoned and said the day-personal had made some reservation errors. He asked some questions. Are you with a group was one. I had to tell him between 5 and 10 time that we was NOT with a group. Fallen asleep once more - at 23.15 the reception cleark telephoned again and asked all the same questions. Again i had to tell him between 5 and 10 time that we was NOT with a group. Next day - after a tour in the city - when we came back the key-card was blocked. I went to the reception and told about the not so funny night and that they had to reopen the key-card. During the "conversation" the cleark did not say one single word at all ! He lifted his shoulders, tilted his head, turned around and walked away. Not a single sorry. Because of the night we took an afternoon nap. But not for long. At 15.30 the maid just walked in again. For what purpose i dont know. The minibar was not filled up daily. The wiev from the window was into a wall few meters away and below the junkies sat fixing with their needles. Common areas needed dusting on the wood on the walls. In general - a big mismatch between price and quality & service. The number of stars on your web site should be 2. I have stayed on better hotels with 2 and 3 stars to half the price or even less. The temperature regulation in the room worked good. On the recommend form you should add "No one"

The hotel is beautiful and well located. The room was superb and the bathroom was luxurious. However, due to the level of noise within the hotel, it was difficult to get a good night sleep. We stayed 2 nights and both nights we were awoken several times by slamming doors, conversation in hallways, constant flushing toilets noise from rooms above us. For the price paid, we expected sound proof rooms; no noise from the outside though. It was truly unfortunate that we could not get a decent night sleep due to the noise.

Hotel in good location - very close to Colosseum and not far to most major tourist sites. Near to termini station too. Room was spacious for 3 people. However, it was too hot and noisy (air conditioning centrally controlled and not yet turned on), so moved to a less noisy room in order to be able to open window. Staff obliged to this request without any fuss. Good bar facilities and breakfast selection. Staff helpful and professional.

We are a maried couple in our late 50's. I booked a superior double room as a Christmas present for my wife (although we didnt actually go until March). On arrival I was pleasantly surprised, for they upgraded the room to a magnificent suite. Breakfast was very good. We didn't eat any other meals in the hotel. There was only one negative and that was the storage of the cases during our last day. We were asked to place them in small room adjacent to reception. When we arrived at about 4'0 clock in the afternoon to collect the cases for our return flight, many other cases had been piled on top of them, and I had to struggle to retrieve our cases from the large number that were crammed into the room. The most annoying thing was that the porter did not offer to help at all. He just waited outside the room whilst I struggled to get the cases. The hotel is excellently situated , very close to the Coliseum, and only about 50 yards from the nearest metro station.

The location of the hotel is absolutely excelent allowing you to visit most of the major monuments by just walking. The only time we had to use the underground was during our visit to the City of Baticano and Castel Saint Angelo (the Cavour station is just 50m from the hotel). The breakfast was incredible with a variety of choises. The access of the hotel from A1 Autostrada is very easy (just follow the Via Apia Nuova-Exit 21 from GRA). My only "negative" comments are: the rooms could be a little bit cleaner and the three bed room is smaller than it appears in the photographs. If I'll go back to Rome I'm going to stay again there.

Very loud top floor because the elevator motor, avoid top floor at all cost. Smoke smell in bathroom, in non-smoking hotel. Fire alarm went off at 11pm while sleeping, no compensation offered. Front desk not so friendly. Don't ask for taxis from front desk, they charge on the trip to the hotel, once it was $9 (more than my trip).

I was quite impressed with the hotel. It was modern and clean, and the room was larger than I thought it would be and was quite comfortable. The location was good -- near the colosseum, a half a block from a metro station, and not far from the other sights as well. And the breakfast buffet was very extensive and excellent. All in all, I was quire impressed with the hotel and thought it was a good deal for the 160 euro per night charge.

Our stay at the Grand Palatino was great. It was within steps of the Colosseum and in a safe area. Most other attractions were within walking distance with the exception of the Vatican, which is a 5min, 6euro cab ride away. The area behind the hotel had quaint trattorias and was not tourist-y at all. The only downside for us was the service concerning parking our car. We were told that it would be parked for us and then the staff changed their mind and has us park it ourselves. The same thing happened when we were to retrieve the car. The service at the front desk was good for us because we know the language, but we witnessed some English speaking guests getting slight attitude. Overall service pretty good. Breakfast was satisfactory and included bacon and eggs for those interested. We would definitely stay here again. Great spot.

We are a family of 4 and stayed in a triple room. We brought a portable baby bed for our toddler and had enough room to set it up, though it was a bit tight. Room on the fourth floor was quite and the air-condition worked very well! Hotel arranged to park our car in nearby garage for about $25, and were able to store our luggage for us. Breakfast was fine, but they start clearing away food about 20 minutes before it supposedly ends. Nice piano bar on ground floor. Absolutely great location! Only a few blocks from Colosseum and Forum. Metro station a couple of blocks away as well. Price verus quality was very good for Rome in the summer - will use this hotel again.

When we got to the Grand Palatino, we had spent our first six nights in Italy in two-star hotels. So, needless to say we were overwhelmed by the luxury of the Grand Palatino. It was an outstanding experience in every way. If you want to spend the money for luxury, the Grand Palatino is the choice.

All in all not a bad hotel. Breakfast everyday was good on variety and decent hours. Our room was smokin hot tho, apparently it was the first 'hot' weekend in rome and turning on the a/c was not yet an option. Plus the fan in our room was not working, but they couldn't fix that. It was clean, most of the staff was cheerful, if not helpful.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of Feb 06 with my girlfriend. When we arrived we found our rooms were not ready so we were told to come back at 3/4pm. This was slightly annoying but they took our luggage and suggested we go for a long walk in the rain. We were pleasantly surprised at how close the hotel was to the major tourist hot spots - especially the colluseum (only five/ten min walk). On return to the hotel we found our room had been upgraded. Our room was amazing - definetly 4*. It had a flat screen tv, a massive comfortable bed, a walk in wardrobe and a mini bar. I was always looking forward to getting back to the hotel room and relaxing after spending all day walking around rome. The Staff were very helpful but not all spoke english. The breakfast was a bit of a let down. You have to get there early to avoid getting the scraps. Rome is a very expensive place and I would recommend straying away from the tourist traps and exploring the small back streets when going for dinner/drinks etc There are a few small little restaurants located in the streets behind the hotel. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Would definitely stay here again. One thing we forgot was to include the tax on top of your bill when checking out so we paid a little bit more then we expected but despite this would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was comfortable, clean, with good room service. The location is very central, 5 minutes from the Colloseum and a metro station, and 20 minutes to walk to many of the major sites in Rome. Reception desk staff told us that shopping on 31 December would be difficult; in fact, shops were open all over town until 5 or 6 pm that evening! We were also sent to a restaurant a bit down the street called 'Cleto', which looked very simple but offered the best pasta I have eaten in a long time.

The Grand Palatino is a fine hotel and the location is perfect for walking to many of the sites in Rome. Unfortunately we were given one of the not so great rooms on the end of the building during our first stay. The room was very small with less than a 4 star bathroom. The end of the bed was just about against the wall. This makes it impossible to walk around the bed. On our way back through Rome we stayed an additional night and our room was what you would expect in a 4 star hotel. Bottom line: this is a fine hotel, just do not accept one of the small rooms with the 2 star bathroom at the end of building. These rooms should be discounted and disclosed as such.

Front desk staff were uncaring and un-accomodating. A big city hotel with employees with uncaring attitudes. On our initial e-mail request, we asked for a room with a balcony and view. Breakfasts were full breakfasts and the dining room had great service, very good food at somewhat of a pricey cost.

I was there for two nights with my 80 year old mother-in-law. We upgraded to a superior room, which was adequate with a nice bathroom and high up away from any noise. Everyone was very nice and helpful, although I had heard there was construction in the dining rooms, so I called before we arrived to ask about it. The man who answered confirmed that the dining room construction was finished - but neglected to say that it was still going on in the reception area! My main complaint was about the dining room - Breakfast was alright, but dinner was overpriced and only so-so in quality. You're better off at the little trattoria around the corner.

The Hotel Palatino is a wonderful value for families traveling with children. The rooms are spacious, clean & comfortable. The staff is helpful & courteous. The scaffolding & construction that was happening in the lobby area & entrance area took away from the hotel's curb appeal, but that didn't detract from the lovely service & proficiency of the staff.

For a stay in Rome the Grand Palatino Hotel is ideally located, exellently priced & has all services & facilities you could possibly require. The breakfast buffet is the best I have ever found in a continental hotel. The staff are friendly, helpful & efficient; the rooms are spotless & really comfortable. Firstly, "Venere" is a great service. Ciampino is a great little airport...no fuss and no hassle when compared to Dublin. Ryanair…great airline. Trip started great by getting Hotel to organise pick up of three people from airport by Mercedes for €55 total. A hassle free way to get straight to your door. Hotel was excellent with big rooms, ac, mini bar, tv, phone. Lifts to all floors. We stayed on 4th floor beside the street and there was no noise. Windows have great insulation. Anyway with all the walking we did, nothing would wake us at night. The hotel is around 1 minute walk from Cavour metro station and it is then one stop away from Termini which is the main link to everywhere. Be careful of pickpockets here especially during the final mad rush to board the train. That is advice straight from the horses mouth. The hotel is around 4 minutes walk to the Colloseum. Walk out the hotel door and the street slightly down to your right brings you straight to this magnificent arena. Likewise the Roman Forum is a slight walk away. Across from the hotel, up the steps and there is a church with Michelangelo's "Moses" and the chains that held St Peter. Art and religion right on your doorstep. It gets better…..there is an Irish bar just down the steps beside the hotel called "Finnegans" and it is the real deal...pool table, darts, sport on tv and a picture of Michael Collins on the wall. The pints of Guinness are absolutely beautiful, must be something to do with them being made with holy water or something. If you are a smoker, you must still despair, because pubs in Rome are non smoking like home. However you don't have to sit outside in the rain. Pantheon, Colloseum, St Peters Basilica and the Vatican museums are superb. Piazza Narvona is terrible, full of people selling rubbish! You're trying to look at a piece of sculpture and there is someone selling handbags in your way. Tip 1: When going on your first days walk, drop in to the superma

This was a nice hotel in a very good location for the train stations and sightseeing. The Collisseum was 5 minutes walk. Stayed at the Grand Palatino for 3 nights at the end of April and found the experience very pleasant. I went with a group of friends and the hotel arranged for us to be picked up from Ciampino airport by chauffeur. On arrival, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and the air-conditioning was a blessing as Rome was experiencing a heatwave. The rooms were on the 7th floor, so noise was not a problem. My wife and I spent two nights in this Grand Palatino Hotel. The hotel looked impressive from the outside as it was big and well lit and on a main busy street. Having read feedback from other visitors to this hotel on Venere.com we requested a room on a high floor so that the room would be quieter. They heeded this request and we had a room on the 6th floor which was quiet. Only a minority of the men on the front reception desk were friendly, although they all performed their jobs you could definitely feel that they were not happy doing it. The room was spacious but could do with a revamp. It looked old. The bathroom although not luxurious had a fantastic shower - the power was great. It was easy to find your way around this hotel. The reseraunt for breakfast was nicely decorated and the breakfast was adequate. The bar looked nice too. The location of this hotel was excellent. The room size was big for rome. Although the room could be updated I would still use this hotel again as the common areas were very nice and the location couldn't be beaten. Outside the door of the hotel there is a variety of places to eat and drink. The Colesseum and the Roman Forum are very close on foot. The Metro is beside the hotel which takes you to the Vatican or the Termini station which is only one stop and away and you could also walk to it. I would recommend this hotel but if you are looking for utter luxury usually provided by 4 star hotels you may be disappointed. You could rate the lobby, resteraunt and bar as 4 star but the room is defintly not a 4 star room.

Good hotel, well located for the Metro and tourist sites. Big bonus is that breakfast buffet starts reasonably early (6:30) and there are two breakfast rooms, one mainly for tours and the other for everyone else.

We are a family of 4 from Thailand. We were quite skeptic at first because the reviews in your website were all positives. How could that be possible. We knew why when we arrived at the Hotel Palatino and spent 5 nights there. We got the first good impression when we checked in. Mr. Gueseppie checked us in. He was very helpful and gave us worm welcome and many good advises. All other hotel staff were also very kind and helpful. The location was excellennt. Very closed to all the attractions. We will definitely stay at Palatino again when in Rome.

It was a good and friendly hotel and the reservation was easy to do if you have the knowledge of English or German language. For the benelux area is the advise, make a page in Dutch. Breakfast was also very nice.

This hotel has all the facilities you would expect for the price. The lounge and bar areas are excellent for the essential nightcap. The breakfastroom/restaurant is very welcoming and the food very good. I would recommend it to my friends in the safe knowledge that there is nothing to complain about with this hotel.

My wife and I stay regularly, in many hotels throughout Europe and always a minimum of 4 stars. This is was among one of the best in terms of location, cleanliness and helpful staff. Could not fault it and would book again.

The hotel was well situated in Rome, we were one block from the Coliseum! The staff was very helpful with directions and getting us to and from the airport on time. The rooms were very nice-scrupulously clean and comfortable. We were on the street side so it was a little noisy when we opened the windows for air, not to mention the folks upstairs who were having a very good time.

Hotel was nicely decorated. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable although the bed was a little firm. Breakfast was nice, fairly good selection of food. Bathroom was a little pokey, very narrow bath and small lavatory area. More space was dedicated the the bidet than the toilet. Complimentary toiletries were pretty good quality and had a good selection. Staff were generally nice, pleasant and some were very helpful but there were a few rude staff at reception. Location is superb for the Forum and Colloseum, only 2-5 minutes walk. It's possible to walk to the major sites with no trouble. Take flat comfortable shoes. There are lots of cobbles and I don't imagine heels would be very easy to walk in. Traffic and pollution are appalling. Drivers expertly maneuver themselves around pedestrians and other vehicles, but it's scary to watch. A truly frightening experience trying to cross roads. Not a relaxing weekend by any standards! Road side food vendors were excellent. Normally I wouldn't try food from them but it looked delicious, and it really was. Trevi fountain was horrendously busy, as were the Spanish Steps. The tour of the Sistine chapel felt very much like you were being herded like cattle.

This is a hotel for tour groups, which we didn't know. The man at the reception was rude, kept us waiting while he was enjoying a chat with his colleagues. He couldn't give directions and timings of the Vatican to another couple! I think, they are geared only for the Tour Groups. The breakfast room gets too crowded with loads of tourists. If we paid top dollar for the room which the tour groups DO NOT pay, we should have been given special rooms and separate breakfast areas.

We could not have found a better hotel. It's situation is perfect for the colosseum and the Metro station. The rooms were large and very clean. The mini-bar prices were very reasonable. Absolutely perfect.

We enjoyed our night at the Palatino, and would recommend it to anyone. Great location for exploring Rome, close to Colosseum and next door to Cavour Metro. Rooms were fine, service perfect, car parking not too pricey, and the noise level minimal (always ask for a room on one of the top floors). We found plenty of really good restaurants within short walking distance. Overall excellent.

The location is excellent. Just two minutes to go to San Pietro in Vincoli, 10 minutes to Piazza Venezia and Fori Imperiali. The room was enogh space to be relax and breakfast made us satisfied. There was a disapointing thing, the glasses were not clean, it was a first thing I have ever had to stay at many hotels so far.

great location as everyone says. outside picture is glamourized but the facility is indeed very clean and we were very happy with our quiet room on the alley side. good breakfast - not continental by any means. right across the hotel is "st. peter in chains" where the michelangelo "moses" is...

The Palatino is an excellent place to stay in Rome: nice and clean rooms, good service and perfectly located. The bit extra money to be spent in comparison to a 3 star hotel is absolutely worthwhile. I can truely recommend this hotel!

The standards in this hotel well exceeded our expectations, but more than this the staff on reception were so very friendly and extreemly helpful-I would recommend the Palatino to anyone. The location could not have been better for an exploration of Rome.
