We were expecting a much more spacious room as seen in the photographs so quite disappointed. The climb up the stairs to the hotel was difficult as I have bad knees. Our window looked out into a dungy back area.

We spent 9 nights over the easter break at Hotel Golden in Rome. The proprietors, brothers Carlo and Guiseppe could not have been more helpful. The ample breakfast buffet is constantly replenished with fresh items and gets the day off to a good start. The hotel is situated near the top of Via Veneto and it's a short walk through the park to Villa Borghese. A long pedestrian tunnel takes you down to The Spanish Steps and the Metro. Alternately walk down Via Veneto to Piazza Barberini M.

This is a great hotel for the price. It is family-owned and the hosts are very hospitable and helpful. The restaurant recommendations were excellent (Pomodoro and San Marco - both within a block of the hotel). The location is fantastic - right off Via V. Veneto, and close to the ancient city wall and the Borghese Park. Rooms are small - but more spacious than some I've had in Europe. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom shower was great. The breakfast was fantastic. Highly recommended, especially for the price (we paid 100 euros/night).

As a single traveller, the size of the room and shower was just right. Lovely, friendly, welcoming staff, with significant knowledge of and passion for the city. The location requires 10-15 minutes' walk regardless of what you want to do (see the nearest sights or catch the metro), but walking is normal for Romans anyway. Staff were able to suggest some decent-priced restaurants nearby, which is great. I stayed for three very comfortable and restful nights, and rather wished I'd stayed longer.

This is a family hotel, loated within walking distance for a 55 year old person to Rome's Piazza Navona and Fontana di Trevi. It is well served by bus. Room was very nice but lacked sitting space with the 3rd bed opened. Bathroom was big with shower, not tub. People were nice too: two brothers and their parents. Breakfast was only average because quality of bread was not special but we sufered no restritions at it. Beware as you arrive because it has no lobby at street floor but at the first floor. Price is not bad for Italy.

LOOK NO FURTHER! The hotel really made our trip! Don't be fooled by it having only 2 stars - this is as good as 4 star quality & attention to detail. As the hotel has 1st floor access this minor point prevents stars upgrade. This hotel was absolutely perfect for us! The location was ideal - everywhere reachable on foot, yet the hotel was actually quiet. Everyone was so good to us & very helpful, genuinely friendly. This is a family business committed to great service and enjoying what they do - not some corporate chain full of disinterested staff! Giuseppe & family treated us so well! We stayed in a recently refurbished double superior room with a huge bed, excellent. We intend to return to Rome & will stay here again without hesitation. There is an absolute plethora of restaurants in the area. We were spoilt for choice. This might be a capital ciy but there are many reasonably priced places to eat with real character & atmosphere. Great hotel in a fantastic city.

The room I was in was unbelievably small, even for a European hotel room. The shower was barely big enough for me (I'm 5' 10" 175lbs.). I had to turn it off while soaping up. The shower doors were barely wide enough for me to fit between. The hotel is so small, it only encompasses part of one floor of the building. So, I could hear everyone in the rooms next to me, especially early in the morning. Also, when I was sleeping, the plumbing in the room next to me was next to my head so I was awoken every time someone used water. The air conditioning didn't work well at all. Also, the hotel is at the top of Via Veneto. You find out after you arrive that to get there you have to climb a hill for a long ways. After a day of touring around Rome it is extremely tedious and tiring to get to the hotel. It isn't close to anything either. It's closest to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain but you won't be spending much time at either. I would suggest you get something closer to the Vatican or Forums. Also, the woman at the front desk was rude to me upon my check out. I had borrowed a Rick Steves book which someone else had obviously left, and she basically accused me of trying to steal it. I had left the book in the room but she made me go to the room, retrieve the book and show it to her. I've been leaving my guides when I left a city (I traveled to 12 cities this trip) and I don't care if someone takes it after me or not. That's why you leave them.

This is a really great hotel to stay in. The location is excellent , right by the Spanish Steps and close to the Termini. The staff is excellent and super helpful. They even provided us with an extra map and suggestions on how to get around. Even the free breakfast was great, not just cold pastries. I would highly recommend this hotel even if it was more expensive. The only drawback is that the hot water was fickle, but it worked out ok.

This hotel was excellent, good location and excellent staff. The hotel will arrange collection and return from airport (40 euro) each way which includes tips. It is something I would recommend as the taxi drivers can take you via the scenic route from Termini Station to your hotel, and charge you (50euro) Rome in general was extremely expensive, eating out was extortion, unfortunately all cafes/restaurants are the same.

We spent 4 days in Rome, left for 6 and came back for another 3. The Hotel Golden is located perfectly for walking tours, believe me I know, my wife loves / lives to walk. Metro subway Red and Blue lines are a ten minute walk and the Main Terminal is 15 minutes. The owners recommended several places to eat, San Marco being one. Morning breakfast is ample for starting a walking day. We would re-book again in a nano-second.

This is a fine, modestly-priced, family-run hotel located in a desirable neighborhood that represents a great value for travelers in Rome. The property has no amenities beyond a very small elevator (the hotel is on the floor immediately above ground level - 1st floor in Italy) and a small breakfast room, but the price, location, room features and friendly staff (brothers Giuseppe and Marco run the front desk) make this an excellent value. The rooms are all very comfortable and clean, though some of them are very small in size and occasional noise in the hallway is a detraction. On the plus side: the included breakfasts have a wide selection of continental-style foods and the coffee is excellent; the rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable; the bathrooms are modern and well-equipped with toiletries and even plush bathrobes and slippers; the location is convenient in a quiet, fashionable neighborhood off the Via Veneto near the Spanish Steps, the #116 bus stop and the Barberini metro station. I would recommend this hotel to travelers who are going to be out of their rooms much off the time sight-seeing and not expecting a resort-style experience but just want a reasonably-priced, safe, quiet and convenient location near the central heart of historic Rome.

Well what can I say... We had the most wonderful stay at The Golden. The owners were so helpful from the minute we arrived, our room was so clean and beautifully decorated and the bathroom was spacious and luxurious. It even had shampoo and shower gel, shower hat, razor etc which you dont expect from a bed and breakfast. The breakfast had so much choice and we were recommended to a trattoria near by which was fantastic, real roman food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable, central, and friendly bed and breakfast at a very affordable price. Excellent value for money - thank you.

We stayed here for 6 nights - wonderful place. The room had limited storage but that wasn't too much of a problem. The staff very friendly and helpful. The restuarants recommended were great and good value. The main St restuarnats were very expensive - go in the side streets. Hotel very close to everything. It is upstairs and the sign is small, but all taxi drivers knew Via Mache and we had no problems. The hop-on hop-off bus stop is only about 500m away. We would certainly return here, it was great value for money. The breakfast was always good, but the breakfast room is very small and some patrons had to come back in 15min to find a seat as it was full.

Hotel Golden is a wonderful little 15 room hotel in a very nice area. There are many restaurants in the area. As a matter of fact, Guiseppe at the hotel made arrangements for us to have 30 people for diner at a wonderful pizzeria/ristorante called San Marco. There is a little cafe/store right on the corner that has the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted. The room was large, the beds extremely comfortable, although our friends who arrived a day later had a smaller room. We were able to walk to the Trevi Fountain andatook a nearby bus the the Jewish Ghetto. We stayed 2 nites pre-cruise, and would go back to the Golden in a heartbeat.

First of all, the family that runs this hotel are excellent hosts. They could put the service of many 4 and 5 star hotels to shame. Our room was large for Europe, it was very clean, the breakfast was good and the location was excellent. It is within an easy walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, many restaurants and great shopping. It is about one block from the Villa Borghese, (a very large park in the middle of the city- like New York's Central Park). For the money, this hotel would be extremely difficult to beat in an excellent, safe and convenient area of Rome. I'd stay here again without question. The overall experience was much better than expected. 9.5/10

Hotel is in a lovely location, no probs late at night etc.. Our room was great but noisy in the night as there was a bar below that took out all their empty bottles at about 5 a.m. As we arrived at 0200 night staff was on duty and hardly spoke English which wasn't ideal, but the manager's in the day were fine and helpful. Breakfast room is tiny. Must be terrible in peak season, we couldn't eat on our last day as no seats were available. That to me is the worst thing to say about the actual hotel. Overall though I would go back as I think it's value for money, nice area, and you can walk to all atractions.

This is a gem of a hotel--tastefully furnished, bathroom the most efficient in two weeks of traveling in Italy, Giuseppe and Marco very helpful. It felt like our home away from home, and a place of calm in the excitement that is Rome. The breakfast room, though windowless, is enhanced by decor and lighting that make it a place of energy, a great way to start the day.

Extremely disappointing. For the price paid I would have expected tea/coffee in the room. The wallpaper in our room had transparent tape on the rips. In the bathroom, the area around the shower holder was cracked. The breakfast room is incredibly small and cramped, we only ate in there once because of this. One member of the reception staff was very surly and unhelpful. You have to return the key and the electricity card to reception every time you leave, else you risk the displeasure of the gentleman at reception who makes it known in no uncertain terms. The sole redeeming feature of the hotel is its handy location to the Via Veneto. We would not stay there again under any circumstances and cannot recommend it at all.

The rooms that we had in our party of 5 were spacious and nicely appointed (my only quibble is that the lighting in the rooms could be brighter). The staff, especially Giuseppe and Marco, were very pleasant helpful in calling for restaurant reservations and providing practical advice in avoiding lines at the major Rome attractions, such as the Vatican and the Roman Forum. The hotel is located a block from the Via Veneto near the Borghese Gardens, and about a 5 or 10 minute walk to two Metro stations (Spagna and Barberini). My family walked to many places, but many walks to the Centro Storico section of Rome took from a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, which was a good way to walk off the wonderful meals we enjoyed. If one is not quite as fit, they may consider taking cabs or public transportation, which is near the hotel. Overall, the stay at the Golden was very enjoyable.

Emails were promptly handled and I had many questions! Hotel was clean, room was very nice. We were lucky to have the corner, quad room with windows in both the bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom was huge, beautiful and clean! Very nice towels, fluffy bathrobes and slippers! Breakfast was lovely. We loved the lady who took care of the food and coffee. Great coffee. We were able to leave luggage in the side hallway after check-out time to continue our sightseeing. The ONLY thing I could mention (still a small thing),although the owners were helpful with maps and basic requests our 5 year old daughter accidentally dropped her tiny snowglobe on their nice, tile floor by the reception desk while she was sitting and waiting for us to gather our luggage to leave. The mother of the family who owns/runs the property was kind and let us know it was ok since it was an accident (if fact, she went off and got my daughter a juice box!), however one of the two brothers who was at the desk was obvious with his displeasure of the inconvenience. I felt horrible that it happened, my daughter felt horrible because it was her souvenir, and I just felt that from a professional standpoint he could have kept his true feelings in a little more! Regardless, it was a GREAT property, literally right next to Villa Borghese, a large park. We are visiting Rome again this coming summer and this time we are going to stay a little more in the center of Rome to eliminate some of the walking since we have young children.

Staff was very friendly during the entire stay, and always helpful and polite. Location is very close to Borghese Park and gallery, and convenient to train. We will stay here every time we travel to Rome. I can't recommend it more highly.

The bedrooms are wondefully furnished as in the quality of the furnishing. Once got your bearings easy to find places of interest that you could walk to. Missed the facility of Tea or coffee in the rooms. We were both very pleased with the hotel and would not hesitate to recommend to others. Very nice people running the hotel, family run.

Hotel was ideally situated. Although the rooms were small they were clean and beautiful presented. The complementary bottle of prosecco was a nice touch. Breakfast was basic but again this seems to be the norm in Italy. Staff were very friendly and were happy to orginse transport to the airport the morning we departed.

Thiis was our second time in Rome staying at the Golden for 3 nights in August. We had a triple room which was quiet ,a decent size and very clean.Location was slightly far out as we like to walk as much as possible but it is in a very nice area. Also Marco(one of the owners)gives you all the info on buses, etc. To sum up a great little hotel which we will use again. Also excellent value.PS we had a nice meal at the San Marco restaurant nearby.

Only stayed here one night, as we were just passing through Rome. However, wish we could have stayed for longer. Lovely hotel - excellent hosts, spacious and clean room and great bathroom. The hotel is in a nice area - lots of places to eat etc. Possibly a bit further to walk to the main rome attractions, but is easy to get round on metro etc. Would stay here again.

I was traveling with my wife and spent the weekend in Rome at the Golden Hotel (Room 201). Great room and bath room. The location of the hotel is a few blocks from the Piazza Di Spagna, Fontana de Trevi, Hard Rock Cafe, etc. You can walk everywhere. There are a lot of nice places to eat close by. The hospitality was great, very friendly people who spoke English and Spanish.

The staff was very welcoming, the breakfast was good, and we could use the internet on the reception desk for free. The major problem with this hotel was the mold in the bathroom. It smelled badly, and our clothes stayed damp our entire time in this hotel. I got a bad allergic reaction from the mold.

We spent some days in Rome and needed a comfortable and payable hotel. The offer via Venere.com was good. The room were clean and in proper conditions. The welcoming was very good with good explanations and helpful hints. The service they offered was excellent. The breakfast was good and enough with all things usually we need. One disadvantage was left: the breakfast room is to small so if we were a little bit late all tables were taken and we have had to wait. But at least we can recommend the hotel and we are sure we will come back.

The hotel family owners werevery hospitable throughout the entire process. I had my trip purhcased for about a year, and any time I sent an email asking for information, Marco or Guiseppe were right there with helpful information. The Hotel is just off of Via Veneto and close to the metro and bus, however there was a taxi stand around the corner and we found that we took the taxi out and walked back "home." There is a lovely trattoria 3 shops down with wonderful breakfast, lunch and evening snack. We had our gelato there most every day and relaxed in the evening air. The hotel arranged for our airport transportation, and they were prompt, friendly and efficient, and reasonably priced. When we checked in, Marco showed us all of the main points on the map as well as walking and bus times/numbers, so we knew where we were at all times. I gave the "public areas" a 5 only because the breakfast room was small and there is no lobby where you can sit and enjoy as in a large 'chain' hotel. The hotel was comparatively spacious and well worth the price. We would stay here again as we felt like we were home in the evenings.

I stayed at the Golden for a short weekend with my girlfriend. Its a really nice hotel in a good area and for the price i don't think we could have got better. The room was a good size and quiet. Breakfast (just a simple buffet of fruit, cereal, croissants etc but done the job) was served till 10am so you could still get a bit of a lay in! The staff were always friendly and helpful.

The Golden is a great base for sightseeing in Rome. Situated just off the fashionable Via Veneto, most major attractions are within walking distance for reasonably fit adults. It's a good area , too - much safer than staying near the termini station. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the breakfast pretty good and the English-speaking owners are friendly and more than willing to give advice and directions. It's not cheap, but nothing is in Rome and as such we thought it was quite good value for money. The pick-up service from the airport was a big help on arrival.

A great location just off via veneto with all its highlights and sites and close to the Metro. The best thing is the great price, you get to stay in a top neighbourhood in a clean room but at a fraction of the price of the nearby luxury hotels and you can still use the nearby hotel bars at Eden, Adelph and Doney if you want. The rooms are basic but clean and the staff are very helpful as it's family run.

We loved this hotel! It was the best hotel that we stayed at and the cheapest! The hotel staff was amazing. They helped us book a tour of Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii and Naples (which we would highly recommend because it was the highlight of our trip!) We very much enjoyed our stay at Golden. The owners/staff were very friendly, informative, customer oriented and efficient. The facility was recently renovated and is very nice. They arranged limo service for us from the airport, which was reasonably priced (35 Euros - we saw ads for airport buses that would have cost the same for two people), and very nice - pleasant drivers and very nice cars. The breakfast is very good - excellent selection. The breakfast room is a bit small, but very pleasant. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay. We returned to stay for three nights at the end of our stay in Italy and enjoyed it just as much the second time.

This hotel was terrific! Of the three places we stayed in Italy, this was the best by far. The room was nice sized, but the bathroom had an outstanding shower, and that was nice after walking all over Rome. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, especailly when I got sick. The location, while not central, was in a nice area near a large park and shopping. We would definately stay there again and recommend it to others.

This hotel was beautiful. It was small - only 15 rooms, family - run by 2 brothers & their mom. The welcome was incredibly gracious, helpful & informative. It was on the 2nd floor with a beautiful old lift (wooden door, gate, etc) The breakfast room was small, but absolutely the only drawback. Very good breakfast included. The decor was absolutely elegant. The location was very convenient - just below the Villa Borghese, walking distance to everywhere! Even the Vatican was only about 20 minutes walk. I don't have a lot to compare, but feel this was a 1st class hotel experience for a very reasonable cost. Guiseppe & Marcos were the best!

This family owned and operated hotel is nothing less than exceptional! They understand CUSTOMER SERVICE; they aim to please; they are attentive and eager to help. They know the city: transportation, sights, restaurants! They're never in a rush and take as much time as is needed to answer your question, make a satisfactory recommendation or help solve a problem. English is almost a first language. By way of example, I was personally escorted downstairs and shown where and how to buy a metro ticket. A day later I was back downstairs, on the street, observing Giuseppe talking with a taxi driver regarding a particular restaurant outside of town - he wanted to make sure the driver knew where it was and to further assure we'd be able to get a taxi back to the hotel. The day we left, I was provided a ride to the nearby car rental garage by "mamma and pappa!" Finally, the location is excellent and within an easy walk (I was in a leg cast) of great shopping, restaurants and public transportation. Please remember, the property is small, quaint and charming - don't expect lavishly appointed sleeping rooms or all the ammenaties of a chain hotel. If you want comfort, convenience and extraordinary service book a room today - you won't be disappointed!

The hotel was very nice and extremely clean. The reservation was as promised and the staff is extremely professional. The room that I stayed in was small. I could touch both walls at the same time by extending my arms (and I'm less than 2m tall). Still, as I am not they type to go to Roma and stay in the hotel room, this was OK for me. I just needed a clean comfortable bed, and that is what I had.

I order 2 superior rooms at least 6 months before visiting Rome and was very disappointed in one room number 107 it was very small but was given a larger room the next day after complaining a little. Apart from this it was a very safe, secure and good hotel. This is an excellent hotel in Rome and a great deal. It was a short walk from Spanish steps and Trevi fountain and the neighborhood (Via Veneto) couldn't be better. The rest of the locations are easily reachable using the metro or bus and it's only a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station. Marco and Giuseppe are very helpful in providing any help necessary and also arranged a pickup from the airport. The morning breakfast was adequate and the rest of the facilities are as advertised. The only downside is that the walls are thin and you can hear noises from other rooms and the street but it's not excessive. Overall a great stay !!

We had a charming double bedroom while not huge it was quite large enough and well laid-out. There was a balcony window overlooking a quiet road. The single room our son occupied while a nice size did not have such a pleasant outlook (the inner quad of four buildings with vents pipes etc - a bit depressing). Everywhere was clean and comfortable. The only drawback to the double room was that it was opposite the reception desk and the night staff seemed to walk about alot in stilleto heels on a hard floor this could be noisy! Marco and Guseppi were extremely friendly and very helpful to us first time tourists. There is a good coffee shop almost next door so it didn't matter much that the breakfasts were long-life and only adequate. A great place to stay - friendly, good location and clean.
