It's really too far from metro stop and you have to climb the hill to get back. The rooms need some maintainance, everything is so old.. No view of St. Peter as they promise on their site.. and it's really far from city center. They say they have continental breakfast, but they have only brioches and some slices of cooked ham. And don't go to their restaurant for a lunch or a dinner. it's too long to wait for any even the simplest dish.

The plumbing is extremely loud and you can hear everything that goes on in the room next door. People shout non stop inside and outside the hotel. Staff are not competent and lazy.

I have been in Rome 3x already. Internet/WiFi in reception only - not in rooms. TV model maybe 20 years old. You will hear everything from nearby rooms (thin walls). Metro station Cornelia is 10 min from hotel (3 station by bus 49). Breakfest poor and the same every day. Generally: for me OK with reference to price only.

The Hotel was very good for what I required. The room was small but for the price that didn't matter. The breakfast was very good. The reception staff were excellent. It was however difficult to find and the bathroom was smelly.

The mini-fridge was on but not cold, staff could not do anything about it, so we had to store food in hotel kitchen. The staff was polite about it I got the impression there was just nothing that could be done by them. The room has no overhead light, only lamps so is always dull. Staff didn't tell us that breakfast was included until we asked so we went out the 1st 2 days for breakfast, which was a shame as the breakfast is quite good. To work the TV you need a remote from reception which they don't tell you so I had to go back down to ask them for it once we realised. The hotel seems to cater to school groups so we were woken up several times over the 3 nights by kids running around the halls, you can't hear outside noise though which is good.

Overall it would be ok, BUT definitely forget the shower... the temperature of our shower was impossible to regulate: you would have 10 seconds hot and 10 sec icy cold! and we couldn't do anything against it: we didn't touch anything and the temperature would change alone. a nightmare! this apart, staff was nicem teh area of rome is quiet, breakfast was ok (bread is the only not nice food, otherwise you have ham, cheese, croissants, milk, coffee, cornflakes, etc...). so all in all a quite positive experience, expecially because we only payed 52 euros for a double room, but really the shower was the negative point.

The hotel was very hard to find initially on foot; after walking around for over an hour, I had to resort to getting a taxi. Upon arrival, I did not find the staff on reception to be particularly welcoming. I had a room on the 6th floor. The lift only went to the 5th so I had to carry my case up quite a steep flight of stairs. My room was very clean but quite hot. The air-conditioning unit I found hardly worked at all and was very very noisy - in the end I had to turn it off altogether but then I could still hear the one in the room next door! The walls do seem to be quite thin! The hotel is in a quiet residential area away from the centre of Rome but it is very easy to get to the main sights. Battistini is the nearest Metro station (about 10/15 mins walk from the hotel) and it is only four stops to the Vatican area (about 10 mins). There is a restaurant across the road from the hotel and a supermarket close by. All in all I found the hotel to be good value for money.

Breakfast was rather poor with soluble coffee only (not expresso). The 7 from quietness of the room is not for the outside noise (which was not), but for the every little noise from the neighbours (from above especialy, as I can figure ...)

My room was very clean, but too small even for one person. Hotel Giotto is very far from the center and also from St. Peter's Square (the nearest historical place). But I enjoyed my stay there very much. If you like to walk a lot, I could recommend you this hotel.

I and my wife stayed in this hotel for two nights. The hotel locates about 1.5 km from Cornelia metro station (A-line). We walked to the hotel from Cornelia station. After check-in, we used bus (there is one stop between Cornelia and the bus stop near the hotel) which runs every 5 to 10minutes. We did not pay bus fare since we got one-day-metro-ticket which can be used for bus. The hotel room was very clean and quiet and breakfast was good. The hotel is good for its price and I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel was close to impossible to find by the maps and poor assistance (lack there of) by the hotel staff. We drove around Rome for 2 hours before surrendering to a Cab Compnay to find the way. We called the hotel 3 times and they offered NO help at all despite some English skills. The other problem we found was the noise. There was a large group of teenagers staying at the hotel (you may not have this problem). One there, the room was fine and the location is close to a main bus line that can take you right to the Vatican so that was great.

We had a leak in our bathroom and would have to lay towels down to soak up the water. Twice we commented to management, which was met with indifference, about the problem. One of the workers in the cafeteria had quite an attitude problem witnessed on several occasions. While we were there, it was a mix of Americans, English and young teenagers. The map on the site does not give you enough information to get there.

I chose the Giotto because it offers free parking (although only a few spaces). The directions on the website are incorrect - download the detailed street map from eg Google before you arrive. It is actually straightforward but only after you work out the complex one-way system in the area. For me, this involved several lengthy tours of the general area in the insane Rome traffic. From the ringroad, take the Via Aurelia to the junction with Circonvallazione Cornelia. You need to turn right (left is forbidden) then immediately do a u-turn to finally reach Via della Pineta Sacchetti after the Cornelia metro station. There are in fact small signs for Via Pineta from Via Aurelia, easily missed. Once on Via Pineta turn left onto Via Calisto II (the third road on the left past the Cornelia bus station, also easy to miss). 50m on, you reach a mini-roundabout from which the second exit is Via Cardianl Passionei, and the hotel is 50m on the left. I found the Giotto good value for money, my room was larger than many singles in Rome, clean with a good bathroom. Some noise from nearby rooms late one night but otherwise I found it quiet. But the hotel is out in a dreary suburb and although there are a few restaurants in the area and one bar (opposite the hotel, sometimes open late, but city centre prices) none could be recommended for food or atmosphere. It takes 30-45 minutes to get to/from the centre by bus or metro, the hotel explains clearly how. It is possible to eat and drink in, say, Trastevere and get back by bus, but you must leave by about 10.30pm or you will need the nightbuses or a taxi. You need a map with the bus routes and it is absolutely essential to get a 1, 3 or 7 day ticket from a metro station or tabacconist - you can't buy tickets on the bus, and finding a tabacconists open late at night is difficult! Personally, I will not stay out this far again - it's worth paying more for the atmosphere in the centre. Leave the car elsewhere.

I stayed in Rome for 4 days and was very pleased with the hotel: friendly people, a good breakfast, clean, nice rooms with at least sufficient space! The two more or less tricky points are: the walls of the rooms are a bit thin, which means u get to hear your neighbours (or their TV) pretty clearly on occasions. And: the hotel is pretty far off from the city centre. U either take Metro line A to "Cornelia" and bus 49 from there (3 stops, u must count as there are no bus stops announced). Or u take the bus 49 right away from behind the vatican, where it starts). Any way u have to calculate 30 min to get from the centre to the hotel. If that doesn't bother I can really recommend Hotel Giotto! It was superb for a really good price!

The rooms were clean and the service staff was friendly. Finding the hotel was tricky....with a suitcase lugging behind, I would suggest a taxi the first day from the airport or teminal station, then you can gather your bearings fairly easily after a good rest. The little cafe across the hotel has the best ice cream, and various other tasty fares for a good price, again, very friendly staff over there. The hotel had TINY elevators, but very nice staff.

The rooms are clean and compact although the walls are seemingly very thin, I am judging this by being able to hear people yawn next door! I was also misled regarding the proximity of the hotel to the city centre...its certainly not walking distance. It was a good opportunity to travel by bus and feel less of a tourist. I would suggest that maybe the reception desk hold some bus tickets. I thought the staff were professional and polite.

This is an adequate but basic hotel. The rooms are spartan but they are clean. One problem with the room was the size of the bath\shower. It was ridiculously small. There was barely enough room to stand in it and I am not exactly well built. The only other thing to note is that this hotel is a good bit from the center of rome. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest metro station and then 20 minutes on the metro to the centre (10 minutes to the Vatican) and the metro stops running at 9pm! A taxi from the center costs €15-20. The hotel staff told us that metro or taxi is the only way top travel from the hotel to the centre.

It was a bit daunting when we asked the direction at the information in Termini. We were told that the hotel was 'very far'. Also, when we arrived at Batistini station (end of Line A) nobody had heard of Via Cardinale Passioneri or the Hotel! We were told to take a bus for 2 stops and that it was off the main road. We decided to walk and ask some local shopkeepers as we went along. We finally found someone in a hardware shop that drew us a map. We realised that the hotel was actually only 7-10 mins walk from Batistini. The quickest and easiest directions are to turn right from the station. Walk along the main road Via Batisitini and take the 2nd right. Walk up the hill which bears left. When you come to the square (mini roundabout) take the 2nd left and Hotel Giotto is just along there. The directions for the hotel on the website are incorrect. The nearest station is not Cornelia. First impression of the hotel was very positive, It’s an attractive building and the inside is very clean. The rooms are smaller than I expected but sufficient. Very good value for money. The staff are very friendly although not very informative about local amenities and public transport. We were told to take a bus to the metro as it was not walking distance! By the time you walk to the bus stop you could be half way to the station! It’s about 10 minutes on the metro to Vatican city and Spanish steps and 20 minutes to Termini. Nice neighbourhood. There is a very nice Deli close to the hotel and another great one, for hot food and snack as you come out of the station on your left. Local prices and fantastic food. I would recommend the hotel. Don’t be put off by the so called ‘distance’, it’s not far at all from the centre. It would be more than a good idea for the hotel to have a sign in the map in the metro station Batistini, as no body knew where the hotel was!

Overall, the hotel is nice. Only problem is the location. Can only be accessed from the last two Metro's off Line A. And then another 12min walk or a bus. At night it gets very quite and dark. May not be suitable for a single person. Room was small but very nice and clean. As good as my 4 star hotel in the Vatican area. Only reason i do not recommend this hotel is because of its location.

Hotel was located off to the left of any map of Rome. The hotel has a nice, one-sheet map, though, that we used throughout our stay. The hotel is withing walking distance of the last two western-most stops of "A" subway line (Battistini and Cornelia)and a couple of blocks from a bus stop for bus 49, which you can pick up for the return trip at centrally-located Piazza Cavour. We chose this hotel because we had a car and the hotel offers free parking, so if you add in parking and the free breakfast the cost of staying here is quite resonable. There is a bar across the street that is run by a really nice, hard-working couple and it's open early and late. We would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in hotel Giotto from 6th till 12th August 2005. On arriving I met friendly English-speaking staff and had no problems checking in. The room was like on the photos on the site, but a bit smaller than I imagined. It wasn't a problem, however, as I used the room mostly at nights and mornings, being away most of the time. My room had a private bathroom with shower (not too small) and a hairdryer. Towels were changed every day. The breakfast room was light and spacios and the breakfast itself was good and consisted on juice, coffee, tea, cereals, fruit salad, croissants and different buns, chease, ham, etc. - a good light breakfast to start the day. The surroundings of the hotel were just great - a quiet area of Rome, mostly without tourists. There were a few restaurants nearby and a supermarket. It was also very easy to get to the hotel during any time of the day - till 9 pm by metro (Battistini, Line A) and about 8 minutes by walk (or 1 stop by bus and a minute walk up the street), from 9 pm to about midnight - by bus (46 if I'm not mistaken), then from midnight till morning by night bus (I guss 50 or 45 or 55 - I have really bad memory for numbers. I took the bus near piazza di Popolo) so it was a big +. The politeness of the staff is a big advantage of the hotel, even when I came late at night (or better say early in the morning), I was still friendly met at the check-in desk. I was really pleased by the hotel and I guess I will stay there again on my next arriving to Rome. Big thanks to venere.com and hotel Giotto staff for good holidays!

The room I stayed in was very, very small and I paid 45 Euros. I had an initial problem finding the place which perhaps has tainted my experience. When I finally arrived the Television in the room didn't work but the porter immediately replaced it. I was only staying overnight as it was my last day in Italy.
