exterior
Hotel Giardino enjoys an excellent position in the historic centre of Rome, in one of the most prestigious area, around the Quirinale building, the Roman site of Foro di Augusto and the famous Trevi Fountain, Nicolò Salvi's wonderful baroque creation.
The property is therefore an ideal starting point for discovering Rome on foot with its numerous museums, monuments, churches and archeological sites, a cultural heritage so vast that a whole lifetime would not be sufficient to explore it in its entirety.
The area is full of important theatres such as the Teatro Eliseo or the Teatro dell'Opera Opera house, exhibition centres, trendy boutiques, bars and restaurants.
The hotel is located on the first floor of a late 19th century building, featuring modern amenities. In the morning, guests will taste a savoury breakfast in the nice patio.

The staff was helpful, the location convenient, and the room clean and just what I expected. This was my first visit to Rome so having staff who knew of good places to eat, who could help me make arrangements -- was a very good experience.

Our room was quite adequate for our 1 night stay. Wish had known that we had to climb 2 flights of stairs with heavy bags, but that is a lesson learned. We'll ask next time. We received our 3:30 a.m. wake up call in a timely manner.

Yes, the building is old, there are stairs to climb, and the traffic outside is noisy. But gee, we're right smack dab in the middle of ancient Rome. Isn't that what we came here for?! Excellent location, clean & comfortable facilities, affordable, and friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely stay here again.

Kate and her staff were wonderful. Helpful in every way possible. Rooms were tidy, but small, as to be expected in the heart of the city. We had a great deck in a courtyard between some buildings. It's in a perfect central Rome location, everything was accessable easily from the hotel. We were able to walk just about everywhere. The area felt absolutely safe. We would surely choose the Hotel Giardino again, and highly reccomend it.

We selected Giardino because it had been highly recommended to us by some friends, and it was everything we had hoped for. This is a quaint, clean B&B style lodging run by very friendly and helpful staff. The location was an ideal starting off point for sightseeing in any area of Rome; my husband and I walked from Giardino to everything. We definitely plan to return to Rome, and when we do we will stay here again.

I thought this hotel was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was lovely and clean and comfortable. The room was a little on the small side, but to be fair it was only a single, and I really only used it for sleeping in, so it wasn't a problem at all. The only problem was that there was some noise from the other rooms and hallway, but in an old palazzo you can't expect much else. It was also far more central than I realised, only 5 minutes to Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum, perfect for a solo traveller. I'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel is fit for purpose and the price is very good for what it offers: a clean place to sleep in close proximity to many of the main touristy sights. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a decent place to stay during a few days of heavy sightseeing the pace is perfect. If you want to be entertained with a gym, hotel pool, etc you'll have to find somewhere else.

For my first trip to Rome this was a great choice. Just a leisurely 5 min stroll to the Colosseum and Forum. Because this hotel only has 11 rooms it feels more like an apartment. My single room was tiny but the bed was comfy after long days of walking and the bathroom was a good size. Great soundproofing. Breakfast (including much appreciated English Tea) was delightful on the verandah.

Overall a very nice stay for a week in early June. The staff including the owner are very friendly, and helpful if you have any questions regarding finding different sights, where to eat, etc. You can buy bus/metro-tickets at reception. The breakfast was simple but quite adequate. The room had air conditioning which worked without problems, unlike hairdryer which was broken - I didn't need it either, so didn't even bother to mention about it to the staff. The sound insulation of the hotel is quite minimal. You can hear normal speaking voice clearly from neigbouring rooms, also the sounds from the public areas. My room was against a busy street on second floor, so the noise from that direction was expected, but I got used to it quite easily. I had my earplugs with me, but didn't have to use them at all. So, overall, I was quite pleased and would certainly consider using this hotel again in the future. The location, of course, couldn't be better, if you want to stay in a modestly priced hotel right next to the main historical sights.

We stayed there 5 nights. The owner, Katie, is fantastic. She and her staff were terrific in making sure everything was right. You can't beat the location, within easy walking distance of the Colesium, etc. The 30 steps you have to climb to get to the lobby is well worth the effort if you want to add to your vacation experience. I can't imagine staying any place else when we return to Rome. Brian and Nancy Kuhn

Hotel Giardino is situated in an excellent location managed by very helpful English speaking people. The room did have small balcony, view was to the back of another building and do not think any room would have a view to speak of. Continetal breakfast is adequate.Rooms are small with shower on suite but we only used for sleeping as Rome is such a beautiful city with astounding historical sites.Plenty of restaurants and bars to chose from.

The triple room was a small double room with another bed. There wasn´t space for us. Our balcony was very, very dirty. The room smells cigarrete smoke. The bathroom was not clean enough. The shower is not powerful. The reception employees were very polite and helpfull, but the waitress was always in bad mood, she wasn´t helpfull and forget what we ordered. She is a bad person to begin the day with...

We started our vacation here. It was a great start. The staff was wonderful. The breakfast was a nice start to a busy day of touring. (it is an Italian breakfast). It was a great location. Staff are very, very friendly. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location of this hotel is ideal walking distance if you want to see the sights - colloseum(sp?) 10 mins, Musollini's building 5mins, trevi fountain 5mins, pantheon 10 mins etc. We would highly reccomend to ask the hotel staff where to eat - we had some fantastic meals due to their reccomendations. Ideal if you're in a couple and staying for a few nights.

Great hotel and great service. Positives: 1. Great location - worth the extra money to stay so close to eveything. 2. Great service, english well spoken, 24 hour service 3. Our room was recently renovated. Improvement areas: 1. Rooms are a little too noisy - thicker doors are needed. 2. Rooms can smell a bit bad after being stuck up over the day.

Giardino's location is both perfect for arrival (nor far from Termini train station) and for sightseeing in Rome - i used bus only once to get to Vatican. Unfortunately, hotel's kitchen was renovated and there were no breakfasts but Katie kindly reduced my price per night and there were no problems with having breakfasts nearby. The room was small but nice. I would stay at this hotel during my next visits to Rome and will certainly recommend it to my friends who look for budget accomodation because the relationship between price and quality is perfect in this case.

The staff was welcoming, accomodating and friendly. My room, #40, a single with ensuite bath and outside facing balcony, was at the top of the stairs & beside the kitchen. It was noisy 24/7 with traffic outside and inside with the sound of people entering & leaving & the 24 hr concierge walking back and forth to the kitchen. The shower was a plastic closet no wider than the length of my arm (I'm 5' tall)! While the location is excellent, having to climb those stairs at the end of a long day of sightseeing is not. I would not stay at this hotel again but should I return to Rome, I definitely plan to stay in this area.

In one word terrific!! Katie, her son and all the staff are very helpful. They even helped booking restaurants every evening for us. Hotel is in a safe and central location. It's within a 10 minute walk of everywhere! The only time we got the bus was to go to the Vatican. Clean, nicely decorated room and bathroom. Good continental breakfast included (orange juice, cereal, hot bread and croissants, tea/coffee/chocolate) What more could you ask for?

This hotel was adequate at best. The room was very clean but the bathroom shower was extremely small and the water pressure was terrible. It was also impossible to get the water temperature regulated and you ended up going from scalding water to suddenly cold water. There was also a lot of noise both inside and out that make sleeping difficult.

When we arrived, the hotel staff were very friendly with their greeting which is always a nice welcome! The room was small but fine for just 2 of us, the bathroom too was small but very clean and new. The air con was great and we definitely did need it in those temperatures in Rome. We only ate breakfast there one morning, the lady who served us was very nice and efficient. It was standard enough for Rome; juice, coffee, pastries and bread rolls with a selection of jams etc. The hotel was near to most of the attractions but we used the metro and the tour bus. The Colleseum is about a 10 to 15 min walk away. There is a good resteraunt directly across from the hotel and the prices are very reasonable for dinner, traditional Italian. When we were leaving they were very prompt to order us a taxi. I would definitely stay in Giardino again if I returned to Rome, it was indeed a very pleasant stay.

The accomadations were adequate. I was a little disappointed in the feel of the rooms as they were a bit dingy and lacked a weloming feeling despite the overly done peach colored decor (note-pictures on the website are old). Also the bathroom had an aweful smell that was covered up by a heavy hand of airfreshner that made the smell even worse. The bathroom was otherwise clean but run down. The room was very quiet and breakfast was fine. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful and the location of the hotel is very good.

We spent our first 2 nights in Italy at Hotel Giardino. The rooms were small and moderately clean. I traveled with 2 of my girlfriends so we were not looking for luxury. Although we would have liked more water pressure in the shower! The location was perfect --it was in a safe area close to the ancient ruins and trevi fountain. The owner, a very friendly English speaking woman made us feel very welcomed. She was extremely accommodating to our requests. Although I was not impressed by the hotel itself..the location and friendly staff made Hotel Giardino a great place to stay.

THE reason to stay at the Giardino is Katie. She is from the UK but has lived in Italy for a long while and is for all intents and purposes a native. She made all arrangements and the uncertainty of getting started in Rome a pleasure and VERY easy. We had an interior room that was very quiet. The A/C was nice and cold. The breakfast was a typical Italian Coffee and a pastry/roll. Shower is small but I made it work and I ain't a little guy. A Great place, especially for the money.

The staff and owner were friendly and helpful. The room was very small and old fashioned, but clean, so was the small bathroom. The breakfast was quite simple but okay (coffee, croissant and fresh roll, butter, jam). When the windows were closed, there was no noise from the street below. The wall to the next room however was very thin and I imagine it can be very noisy, depending on who stays next-door. The location is perfect to reach the historical centre and the and main tourist attractions within walking distance. 90 € per night for the single room seem to be appropriate, considering that it is Rome.

Despite arriving at a very late hour and then asking for directions to St Peters Square ( Pope had just died) we recieved a warm welcome from the night staff. We had the bedroom overlooking the inside courtyard. The room was basic and clean but the bathroom had a funny smell (damp and musty). The breakfast was basic and uninspiring (bread rolls, jam, coffee, orange juice from a carton). The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location was fantasic and easy to get to all the main sights. We would return to this hotel but ask for another room!

I departed in the early morning and the waitress/cook prepared breakfast early for me because of my early morning departure. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week and have not regretted it for a moment. We prefer to spend our holiday money on extensive Italian dining instead of a minibar and a grand suite, and we just want a clean and comfy bed to sleep it off in. We got that, and on top of it, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the location could not be much more central in a city of this size, with so many things to see. If I have to introduce a 'but', I would say the hot water pressure could be better, but that may have had something to do with the cold weather outside. Other than that, it was very good accomodation for this price and I would recommend it to anyone in search for a clean, comfortable and affordable room at a good location.

First, I want to say thank you to the folks @ Venere. This was my first solo journey and I was so very grateful that all my hotel reservations were trouble free. I loved the location of the Giardino. Very close to all the important sites in the center of Rome (near the Piazza Venezia). It is hard to find an affordable hotel in this location for those of us on a budget (60 euros per night in December). I arrived early and they were gracious enough to take care of my bags since my room was not yet ready. Katie, who runs the Giardino, is a wonderful hostess. I really enjoyed chatting with her and some of the other guests in the breakfast room. Breakfast was typical Italian fare; good, strong coffee and croissant and/or fresh roll. I find these simple breakfasts enjoyable and surprisingly satisfying. My room was right by the check-in desk (I believe room #24) so it was a little noisy when people were checking in/out, asking for directions, etc. However, this did not happen often and there was never any noise to interfere with sleep. My single room with a bath was clean; provided plenty of heat (again,it was December), and was pleasantly furnished. I felt very safe there. I would stay at the Giardino again in a heartbeat.

I loved this little place. I spent 60 euro/night for a single room and it was well worth the price. The staff, especially Kate, was very friendly and accomodating. I arrived around 9:30 in the morning but it was still okay to check in at the time. For me it was an easy walk from Termini, but if you don't like walking, the taxi ride is around 5 euro. Air Con was included with the price and a small breakfast in the morning...enough to get one out the door. It's a basic hotel but it's clean and quiet. The location is also wonderful, very near the forum, Trajan's market/column and Colosseum.

The good aspects of the hotel far outweigh the bad. The location is wonderful, the staff and owner friendly and helpful, and the hotel very peaceful. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. We had a room facing the interior court the first night and were not very fond of it. It was rather small and the ventilation in the bathroom was insufficient, there was some mildew on the walls. We changed it for a room facing the street which was much nicer and more spacious. The windows had very good insulation so there was no noise from the street below. The hotel has a good location, most tourist attractions are within walking distance. The bus stop for the lines to the Vatican, Trastevere and the train station (Termini) is less than 100 meters away (bus tickets are available at the hotel reception).

I arrived at the hotel at 10:30am and was allowed to check in then, a welcome suprise after a long flight. Hotel lobby is on the second floor. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Shower was very small but that's common in Rome. The room beside me was a family with a small child who cried a lot and the noise carried into my room. Noise from the outside was not a problem since my room was away from the street. Although the room was on XXIV MAGGIO and with the windows open it was exceptionally noisy with traffic all night long, this was only a problem when the windows were open. Otherwise the hotel was in an excellent position within easy reach of all the attractions. The breakfast was quite boring, the bread rolls left a lot to be desired but the tea was fine first thing in the morning. Having said all that I would definately stay there again as the location was good and price was very reasonable.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We picked it for location (near the Colosseum) and price but found it to be far better than its two star rating would have indicated. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We recommend room 28 in particular which has its own balcony. We strongly recommend this hotel and will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Rome.

we thought that this was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at. We were lucky enough to have the room with the balcony, whcih felt a bit west side storyish,, other people might not have liked this closed in outlook but we did!!

The bathroom was SO incredibly small that you had to leave the door open to sit on the toilet! The shower was barely (a woman's) shoulder width wide-again, you could not close the door as the shampoo, soap, etc. had to be left on the sink (which was just inches away) as there was no place in the shower. There was so little space between the toilet and the sink that you could NOT stand in front of the sink/mirror as the toilet was behind our knees. Probably the MOST irritating thing about this hotel was that we had taken great care to make certain our hotels were air conditioned. When we got into our room we could not make the AC work. The man at the desk said that would be an additional charge (I can't remember whether it was $7 or $12 a day) and that it was right on their web site. I did not agree and he finally gave me a remote control to operate the A/C in our room but acted like it was coming out of his pay. I later found my documents and they expressly stated Air Conditioning....which made me angry as this place is obviously trying to bilk more money out of tourists once there. The place was SO noisy.....I mean plumbing sounds and it was as if the people next to us and above us were in our room. We would NOT stay at this hotel again and will NOT recommend it to any of our friends.

This cute little hotel is wonderfully located near so many of the sites that are a must to see. It was just a short walk to Trevi and also the Coliseum. The staff were so helpful with their directions and maps we felt like insiders instead of 1st time visitors!
