We stayed in the hotel for the Rome Marathon. Since breakfast time was from 7.30 to 9.30, we asked if it was possible to have a hot drink before 7.30 but they said it wasn't. The hotel in on the 4th floor and the bell doesn't always work, so sometimes we had to phone to have the door opened. In general, we expected something better from this hotel.

Very wecloming staff on arrival late in the evening - occasion was a gathering of family from the USA and UK. Restaurants in immediate locale OK. This hotel was recommended for providing clean, safe accommodation. It was also very quiet, but is not recommended for travellers who require the facilities of the large major hotels eg pool, sauna, shops etc.

Breakfast was no good.Three star hotel should offer better breakfast. Did they get the third star only because of the location? It was good. It was little bit difficult to find the hotel. I didn´t understand from web pages that ít is somewhere upstairs.

Have just returned from a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel garda. The receptionist who checked us in was a mine of information regarding what sights to see and how to get there. The afternoon receptionist was equally helpful about where to eat out and even booked us in advance at a local authentic italian restaurant. Very convenient location for the Trevi fountains and spanish steps. The room was satisfactory, the mini bar not overpriced though only had the soft drinks. Would like to have had tea coffee etc available in the room, but most european hotels dont offer this service so not too disappointed. Breakfast was nothing special but it was adequate. Bathroom not over sized but adequate for needs. The hotel is situated on the 4th floor of a very large building so no reception on the ground floor which took a bit of getting used to as you had to ring the bell for access, would have been a bit daunting at night if I had been on my own. Rome itself is everything you expect it to be, it was my friends first time there and she was not disappointed. Dining out in Rome is not cheap but it is a city and only to be expected. The Rome city tour bus was good value at 20 euros for 48 hours and its a hop on/off, and the stop was only a few minutes walk from the hotel. I would definately stay there again.

A very nice little hotel with excellent location. Very helpful staff, who spoke very good English. Nice and suprisingly spacious rooms. Breakfast was very simple, but cappucino was excellent.

Ett prisvärt boende i ett lugnt och centralt beläget område nära spanska trappan. Trevlig atmosfär och mycket bra service! Mina två tonåringar och jag trivdes mycket bra på hotel Garda.

The location is very convenience. The room and public area is very clean and bright. For single room is space may be quite small. But the price is excellant for single traveller and locates in a very safe area, with lots of tasty restaurants around the hotel.

Staff were a little abrupt and standoffish and didn't volunteer much information. The Hotel is situated on the 4th floor of a very eery type of building. When we arrived by taxi at 1.00 a.m. we couldn't find the hotel as there is only a tiny name badge over a doorbell telling you where the hotel is.

Excellent location and very quite hotel. One small criticism is that I walked past the hotel without realising the entrance was there (no visible signage), otherwise perfect location for discovering Rome.

Comments for Venere only at this stage. This is not a three star hotel, more a two star, if that. Breakfast very poor for the price of the room. The photos are miss leading and seems only to be of the rooms already renovated and upgraded. Most rooms have not been attended to yet. The old rooms are very run down, dirty, smelly and some beds are in poor reapair. It is a surprise that Venere have this hotel on their books, maybe a better check out of the property would be of benefit to all parties.

This hotel is wonderfully located on the famous Via Veneto. However it is a NO frills type of hotel that gives you a very clean room, good air conditioning, clean bath and fair continental breakfast.A friendly and helpful staff was always pleasant. The price was great considering that surrounding hotels are very pricey. Keep in mind this hotel is NOT a fancy type place, but rather a clean and comfortable room for travelers, located close to all transportation neccessary for the sights of rome.

The place is excellent and safe for a single female traveler. The environment is convenient to find many bars, cafes and restaurants but it is a bit expensive part of the city for eating. The nearest metro station Barbelini is only 5 min. on foot. But if you come back to hotel you must get up a slope. Better to take a taxi from Termini if you have a heavy suits case. The stuffs are really friendly. The room is very simple but there are nothing for failing. Lift, hairdryer, mini-bar, air conditioner, TV, water system, WC.. everything is on good condition. Breakfast is too simple for me. Hopefully more choice for juice and bread. But coffee is of course nice. I fully recommend the person who seeks a cozy stay with low budget but prefer elegant surroundings. I will back to this hotel next time.

The hotel has just been renovated, that is why me and my friend gave it these very good remarks. The areaaround the hotel is very nice, round the corner you find Via Veneto- a very elegant street. You can find a lot of small restaurants in the surroundings. Our room was facing a backyard that why it was so quiet. For this price we would book Hotel Garda again.

While the location of the hotel is great, the size of the room was small. The shower was miniscule. There was limited tourist information available and some of it was out of date. The breakfast was spartan. The room rate is high compared to the quality of the accommodations.

The "hotel" was terrible. In the web pages was written that the hotel was restaured, and it wasn't. There were the worker all the day. In web pages was written that guests have breakfast and the room was unable because the workers were restauring it (we had to have breakfast outside). The room was dirty, with very dirty carpet and the plaster of the walls that fallen to the ground for the dampness. moreover in the bedroom you can hear all the noises coming from the other bedrooms and outside.

This is one of the nicest stays we've had in our four months in Europe. The room was spacious, in an excellent location, provided a balcony, the breakfast featured freshly-made cappuccino, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the room needed a fresh coat of paint, otherwise wonderful.

The hotel was in a very pleasant part of the city and although it was necessary to take a bus trip into the centre this added to the interest. There is a lovely park within walking distance and several good cafes. When we checked in the man at reception was particularly helpful providing a city map and details of an extremely comprehensive tour of the city (thanks to Filippo!)He spoke wonderful english and was a great introduction to the hotel. Thanks also to him for recommending excellent little restaurant (La Bruschetta) couple of minutes' walk away. Breakfast is more basic than other hotels we used further on in our tour but was more than adequate and we were there to see the sights rather than linger over breakfast! One problem (though not to us could be that the room we were allocated was only served by a staircase and no lift. Our only other concern was that we were five floors up and the fire escape seemed to be the main staircase which was a little alarming. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, hotel was full of Italians which was nice as at least we knew we were in Rome. Loved the stay and would certainly use it again - good value, clean and liked the location.

The Hotel is fine as long as you don’t want to spend any time there. The entrance hall is probably the worst welcome you could get. It seems like you ’re entering a monastery. The stay was fine but we left first thing in the morning and came back late at night. The surrounding area is good if a little expensive. It does feel like you’re paying for the area rather than the room itself.

It was a great location, easy walking to the "big" sites throughout the whole city. The staff were ALWAYS polite and helpful. We were gone from morning to evening, and then showered and slept for another day of sightseeing. Room accessories were not that important to us. My wife and I traveled with 3 children, aged 1,4, and 15 and it was adequate for our stay. Only slight drawback was the washroom/bathroom was a little small, and could use a vent or fan for better ventilation. Overall, Great stay! I would recommend to friends and family, or stay again if back in city.

It was OK. The hotel is on the fourth flour of a typical old "palazzo" with a lift. The family room was spacious and the double bed was fine. The two single beds were a bit soft but good enough. The staff is friendly. The hotel is very close to via Vaneto and in an excellent position for walking to all of Rome's main attractions.

The day manager (man in his 50s) was very helpful and friendly, giving out tips on where to eat, most efficient walking routes, especially touring with children. The breakfast waitress could do with more help since she could not manage handling guests by herself especially during peak times 8-9am. Think this is the reason wh she never smiled and kept forgetting requests. The worst thing was, there were baby cockroaches in the room. Apart from the cokcroaches, I would not mind staying there again, given the centrality of the location. Takes 20-25 euros from ciampino airport to hotel on yellow taxi cabs, but if you travel early in the morning from the hotel to ciampino, yo uare at the mercy of the private cabs which could charge double the rate or even as high as 50euros if you don't know the normal rates.

I find the hotel a good bargain and excellent location close to Barberini metro. It is also very clean. On the negative side it was very dificult to find since it doesn't have a visible sign at the outside of the building. At the web page the only photograph was from the via Veneto and nothing from the hotel itself nor rooms which are small (triple). I'm not to sure it is a 3 star hotel.

The location is great if you want to be close to Veneto and near Spanish Steps. Ok price considering any other hotel nearby is around 400 Euros and up. The staff is friendly but the rooms are small and beds are tacos. The showers are miniscule (literally 2ft sq. base) and the toilets are awkward. Ask for a room on the top floor with balcony. They have marble floors and you get a better breeze. Make sure air-con is working before you accept room. A little hard to find, so have a great map and look for brass plaque with Garda name...no large sign.

The location of the hotel is very good. At check-in and on the second day, the young woman on afternoon shift was rather stern and almost surly, but the night clerk Vincent was wonderful. He was so helpful on several occassions regarding directions or getting us cabs. The breakfast was very meager. It was not a great hotel experience, except for Vincent's cheerful assistance.
