Have stayed here on all my recent visits to Rome. The location is comfortably close to Termini Station for walking to and from. A very nice hotel in this price category. Great buffet breakfast too. And the hotel is located reasonably close to all major sightseeing spots in the city, either on foot or by bus or Metro (several lines available close by). However, as most of central Rome, even Trastevere, is within walking distance from the hotel, you shouldn't visit Rome unless you are prepared to do most of it on foot... :)

I found the staff to be extremely helpful. My luggage was delayed and the reception staff took my info and called repeatedly to check if my luggage had arrived. The amenities were adequate for a short vacation and the breakfast was more than expected.

As single traveller, I got a room in the back, very small and dark - renovation outside started 6-7am, internet connection via Ethernet ok, the lady in the breakfast/bar/restaurant was great!!! Wasn't too bad to reach the centre of Rome. This hotel wasn't too bad.

BED BUGS! We had several rooms there and two of my friends came back to America with bed bugs. It's been a disaster dealing with the situation and a huge inconvenience.

We stayed in a standard double room. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but it didn't really matter for us. The bathroom was really tiny, could have been a little bigger. The sheets were clean but the blanket was old and a bit raunchy. Please replace those. The lift was out of order for our full stay of 3 days so we had to use the service lift. We had a room on the street side but it was reasonable quiet. The bed was good, too. Reception was kind and welcoming. Although not completely knowledgable about what bus we should take to the Trastevere area. You would expect a 4 star hotel to know these things.

Matrimonio con dos hijos adolecentes. Hotel tranquilo y agradable.

My godaughter and I had a lovely time at the hotel. The location was just 10 mins, when walking, from the Station. The area had all that you wanted within walking distances, busses, banks, resturants/ cafes, supermarket etc. The room was very clean and just what we had ordered, (twin bedded and non smoking)and had air condition. The breakfast had a good variety of food and service was excellent, nothing was a problem. Reception was very helpful when giving us tips for Rome and ordering a guided tour for us. Lift to all floors but no stairs, which we missed when waiting for the lift! All emergency exits were clearly marked,in case of a fire. The price was good too. In all, we would certainly recommend Hotel Gambrinus and use it again when visiting Rome.

The hotel was excellent for the price. We loved the location and could walk to most of the attractions. Air conditioning was great as well as the breakfast that was provided. The staff was extremely helpful in an emergency and provided us with the assistance we needed. We would stay there again. Book early in February if you are going in the summer rooms go fast. Part of our group had to find a different hotel and they were not happy with their accomodations. but loved ours.

We were in Rome for one night. We wanted a hotel room that was nice, and within walking distance to the major sites. That is exactly what we got. No disappointments. Actually, this hotel was the only one during our two-week stay in Europe where they offered free computer access downstairs in the bar. We were also lucky enough to get free wireless service on our laptop in our room! (I guess some rooms get service, and others don't.) We were paying 10 Euros for 1/2 hour for WiFi in France and Switzerland. That was a major plus. The staff was friendly, and got us in an hour earlier than check-in time (we arrived two hours before check-in). They also gave us a 3am wake-up call (on time), and called us a cab to the airport.

I was really happy with the room and the service. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was small but the facilities and standard were excellent. The distance was a little out from the centre but still walkable.

A family group of us (two English-speaking relatives) has stayed in the Hotel Gambrinus in double deluxe room for several days during our Christmas tour to Italy. I enjoyed our stay and would like to recommend the hotel to everybody. The room was small, but cosy and comfortable, absolutely every and each necessary thing was in place. The room was equiped with connection to Internet, and there was a lot of accessories for more comfortable stay. The restaurant is closed on Sundays, but there is a genuine Italian cafe just opposite the entrance to the hotel, where in evenings you may see Italian families coming for their usual evening pizza and wine. By the way, we have got a bottle of Italian wine in our room as a present from the hotel. The hotel also has shuttle delivery from the airport, which is not the last thing to mention, because the taxi will cost you about 60-80 euro while the shuttle is 4 euro per person. As for location, the hotel is on quite small street in the central part of the city, you may easily get to all central places of sight-seeing by foot. We actually used a taxi only once, to get to the Vatican. I would like to say thank you to all employees of the Hotel Gambrinus. Taking into account Italian traditions, peculiarities of architecture in Rome and my previous travel experience, I would actually rate the hotel as four stars. Thank you.

Enjoyed a 3 night stay here. Asked for a quiet room prior to arrival and got room at the back overlooking the villa. Asked for extra pillows which arrived in the room promptly. Reception desk enquiries were dealt with efficiently but lacked the "friendly" touch. Breakfast cold buffet was good and the waitress very helpful. Location within walking distance of most sites except, perhaps, the Vatican but nearby bus route took us there very easily. Had to pay extra to use room safe - worth remembering.
