This is more of a 3 star hotel than 4. Good location, close to Termini station and walking distance to many of the points of attractions. Breakfast is average. What you pay is what you get. I had booked two rooms. The one for 4 people, was very warm with poor shower and they never bothered fixing the shower tab!

I have been many times to rome.I think that hotel Gallia is a very good choice because it's very close to the termini station and to the most beautiful monuments of the city.The staff is very is very helpful and polite and the rooms are very clean.

We were three people, the third bed was very uncomfortable. It was a bed made of a sofa, it was hard to sleep 1 week in this place!. The clerk that worked during the afternoons and early night was extremely nice!!!

The staff was great!!! The room reminded me of a motel 6 however so it was very over priced, but again, the staff made up for it so I didn't feel so ripped off. It is also in a great location for seeing some sites.

we hired a 4 places room for 3 people to have more space. We have got a 4 places room for the first night but there were many problems: heating dosen't work, a door stayed opened beacause a default, a heating radiator was leaking. After that we have got a 3 places room smaller than the first one with bad bed, having only shower... The WI FI internet link dosn't exist in alla the hotel. We payed the price for 4 places room i.e 450 euros the 3 nights the manager refused to make discount.

We had a bit of a bad experience with the hotel - the reception staff were singularly unhelpful, the internet connection provided by the hotel only covered Italian pages and just froze when you tried to get into anything English. We were flying home on the day protesters blocked Stansted Airport and could really have done with some help from the reception staff, but they could not have been less helpful. We wanted to book a taxi to the airport but the receptionist said he was unable to do so but could organise a limo at a cost of 45€! It was a shame because the hotel is in a great location and could have been really good but the dilapidated state (large damp patches from the bathroom with peeling wallpaper) and cleanliness of the rooms (pull out the bedside cabinets at your peril!) really let it down. This is at best a good 2 star hotel, rather than a 4 star.

the Gallia hotel is very very good. I recomend that hotel for the beautifull position, s,.m.maggiore, colosseo and other it's very near. So, dont' forget to visit and living the excellent terrace.

The Gallia hotel was ideally situated for sightseeing and for proximity to termini. Staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. Rooms were spacious and clean. Only problem was air conditioning was not working during my stay. However this was dealth with promptly with the provision of a fan. l have stayed in this hotel twice and would definitely book it again if travelling to Rome.

The main problem is getting in late in the evening! The door is locked and there seems to be no door bell. You have to attract the attention of the staff at reception! Once in, I found the guy on reception to be rather unfriendly. OTOH, the guy on duty the next morning was OK. My room was small but clean and I had everything I needed. Very convenient location for Termini and all the main attractions.

The hotel is in a good location but it really needs modernisation and upgrading, everything in the hotel needs to be replaced, carpets, drapes etc. Our shower room also leaked when we were there and we told the front desk but there was no apology.

We wanted somewhere close to the city centre and yet close to the Termini, for our flight transfer as our flight early. We found that it was just right.

When I was looking on Venere for a hotel I read several comments about the bedrooms in Rome being small. And I now know exactly what they meant! I booked a single, so it was a real plus to get a double bed, however the room wasn't a lot bigger than the bed! One of the reasons I chose the Gallia were its room safes (I'd heard much about pick pockets in Rome and didn't want to be carrying much in the way of valuables around with me) so I wasn't too pleased that my room didn't have one (apparently it was away for repairs) or that I couldn't be moved to a room with one. Though the staff were very pleasant about it leaving my valuables in an envelope in a drawer at reception wasn't a high security alternative (although I guess it did give them the liability rather than me!). Putting that aside, overall I thought the hotel was good although in my opinion (and I speak as a regular business and holiday traveller) this hotel is rather more 3 star than 4 star. BTW - for those walking to the hotel from Termini (and it is easily walkable) don't rely on their map (its not the best) make sure you've got your own. The hotel is on Via Santa Maria Maggiore at the Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore end of the street - in fact its literally 10 metres off the Piazza.

I booked a four star hotel, but I came away wondering if two of them had been stuck on temporarily, The window in the room wouldn't open, the air conditioning just made noise, The chair in the room was missing a leg, and the remote control for the TV didn't work.But it was clean.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in July. I will be taking my mother to visit Rome in October and have already booked our accommodation in Hotel Gallia. My only question is why the cost for two single rooms for three nights in July costs 600 Euros yet it costs 750 Euros in mid October? Either way, I enjoyed my stay and look forward to staying there again. I was particularly impressed by the friendliness, the welcome and the service given by the girl looking after the breakfast garden.

Do not go here! This is not a 4 star hotel at all. At best it is a 3 star, on the way to becoming a 2 star. The reception staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and badly trained. they think in problems, not solutions. The 2 rooms we tried had a list of deficiencies. To name a few: no safe, extremely dirty carpets, TV's not working or tuned in properly, bathroom fans did not work, shower doors just fell apart, Airco not working properly. The al fresco breakfast would be o.k. if the food and drinks would be sheltered properly from the heat and sun and refreshed regularly. At present it is not. A RIP-OFF.

Excellent nice hotel, if you want to stay there you should try to get room nr. 301 is was one of the most charming hotel rooms i`ve ever stayed. And it takes you just 20 sec. of walking to get to the best italian restaurant in rom.We ate there twice the food was great and the atmosphere was even better. I don`t remeber the name but look out for a piano.

The Hotel was in a convenient location. The two criticicms I have are that the room did not have a bath which would have been useful and the reception staff at times could have been more friendly. When we were checking out for example, the employee was talking on his mobile for the whole time which was lacking in courtesy. Thank you for asking for my views.

Our room including the bathroom was very spacious and comfortable but very loud. Despite the airconditioning it was quite warm during the nights. The hotel advertises with four stars although it deserves only three stars. We enjoyed our stay, but would choose another accomodation for our next visit.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Nice rooms. Only (minor)complaint is that we wanted to walk to a few landmarks and the people at reception were not very knowledgeable about Rome as a tourist city, sending us the wrong way. Overall, greatly enjoyed our stay there though.

The rooms in this hotel are satisfactory, however the staff are as about as insolent you can get (maybe it me, should receptionists be smoking ? ). The breakfast if you can call it that is really not worth the extra as the food is mostly stale and one day obviously rotten. However if your just there to sleep it's fine just lock your door, our room door looked as though some one had kicked it in.

We were overall very pleased with the hotel. The breakfast buffet offered something for everyone, and the waitress was very friendly and efficient. I would have only two suggestions. First of all, more detailed directions to the hotel should be included on the website. Also, the room we stayed in was advertised for a family of four. However, there were only beds for 3. The fourth "bed" was a pullout couch with a mattress so thin, that every time you rolled over you felt the supporting bars. My son ended up putting the mattress on the floor for the duration of our stay.

The rooms were spacious, with an fabulous view. The staff were competent. Breakfast on the roof was excellent, as was the consistent cleanliness of the room. An enjoyable stay, one which we will hopefully be repeating.

We enjoyed our stay at Gallia which was conveniently placed for 15 minute walk to Colliseum. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast on the roof in the sunshine was very enjoyable. The mini bar might have been restocked a little quicker but the prices charged were quite reasonable.

When we arrived, we were told there was no room(3 double rooms) at this hotel and were provided taxi service to a sister hotel. It turned out the sister hotel (Pace Elvexia, another four star)was actually closer to the major sites with a beautiful rooftop garden that looked out across all of Rome. A bitter-then-sweet experience! Stay at the Pace Elvexia!

My boyfriend and I went to Rome for a long weekend and had a fantastic time. Found the hotel relatively easily after walking round the Santa Maria Maggiore roundabout and asking at the tourist information site! We were welcomed by the receptionist who got someone to take our bags up to our room. We were pleasantly surprised with the room. It was very clean, nicely decorated with a spacious bathroom. The beds were comfortable too not normally something you find in hotels!The hotel Gallia is just down a side street off of a roundabout where the Santa Maria Maggiore church stands so if you go for a walk and get lost you just have to look for the top of the church and you'll find your way back to the hotel! We had breakfast on the roof terrace every morning which was lovely, had a choice of cold meats and cheese, hard boiled eggs, cereal and fruit. The bar wasn't open during our stay but that didn't bother us. The hotel is not far from the Colosseum, the Roman Forum or the Trevi Fountain, all are within walking distance. On our last day our flight wasn't until 8.30pm so we asked if we could leave our cases somewhere safe and the hotel were only too happy to oblige. We loved Rome and will go back to see the bits we didn't get to see this time, and we would recommend staying at the hotel Gallia to anyone.

price/quality is very poor. Personell is most of the times unable to speak English (or any other language but Italian). The employee at the receptiondesk was rude and did not make u feel welcome at all. Instead the feeling we've got was "u people should be glad, that u can stay at this hotel". a Training in client hospitality is highly recommended.

Nice size bedroom but major problems in the bathroom. There was no bathplug, no bidet plug. Water and nasty stuff came into the shower basin from other places, which caused the shower to flood, so we could use only the sink on the first night. When we complained to the manager the next morning - by phone, he wasn't at the desk - he said the person who could mend everything was "ill". Then when we complained that we had had a ruined night, he said "well, if you don't like it you can go somewhere else". He insisted his hotel was not a 4-star hotel, it was a "3-star tourist hotel". His attitude was arrogance and rudeness. Plugs were provided after the first night but we did not use the shower. We were not compensated for our bad first night as promised. On this basis I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.

The price of the room was very expensive in relation to what the hotel offered, the location was however quite convenient. The room was very clean, however, the air conditioning did not work, or the heated towel rail in the bathroom, and I thought that the bathroom was in quite a poor state of repair. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast service was excellent.

An excellent 4 star hotel in a great location near the railway station where all buses, trams and trains leave from for your daily sight-seeing,although Rome is small enough to walk to many places too. Gallia Hotel was clean, quiet and very well run. Staff were very polite and professional, albeit not overly friendly or chatty. The continental buffet breakfast was generous and a great variety, particularly what I've heard of Italian breakfast and what you often get in a hotel. The room was for Italian standards spacious, and certainly very well appointed. We had a little balcony and could open the doors for fresh air. The bathroom was great too. I travelled with a girlfriend and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. It was fantastic value as I was able to get the last minute internet deal which knocked 40% off the standard rate. The hotel also arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the hotel, which worked perfectly. Being so close to the train station we caught the express train back to the airport, which saved us a bit of money too. Oh - and I loved Rome!

This is my second stay. I requested a room with a tub. The facilities were generally good, with exception of leaking rusty water from the heating system, as well as having to run the tub twice in order to obtain water clean enough to bathe in. A lot of rust deposit causing water to be dark brown on first draw. Cleanliness of the room was not maintained to their usual standard.

Beautiful hotel, well located. Our room was big and we enjoyed our stay there. The only drawbacks: 1.- Please put a larger TV. 2.- The shower is veeeery small. If your soap falls you have a hard time getting it back.

The Hotel Gallia is one of those '4 star' hotels that make this category almost meaningless in Italy. At best this is a weak 3 star hotel. The decor is awful and decrepit, the rooms are bizarrely laid out and the facilities are pretty poor. The location is fine though is certainly not special enough to warrant much of a premium. The photos on the webpage flatter this place to high heaven. I certainly was deceived. The price I was quoted on venere (€125) was more in the three star range so I wasn't that annoyed. However had I paid much more I would have been furious.

The hotel was up to the standard expected and i really enjoyed the breakfast garden for quite late evening relaxing drinks and beatiful breakfasts. the staff were very helpful. the only problem I had was with a group of individuals (men) who decided to come in late and were very noisy on two nights.

This is a good spot, on top of the highest hill in room!, excellent view while eating breakfast. Close to most things and close to local transport. 5 min. walk from the Termini (be careful it could cost 30euro by taxi). Get the bus tickets from the stalls around the Termini - the machines don't work.
