first we have been allocated a very small and old fashiopned room for 3 person. we payed for a 3 beds room but add only an additional bed put in a twin room. There is no king size bed at all in the hotel (only twin beds put next to eachother). we complained about the room which was humid, not dark at night, too small etc. and we got kind of a suite which was much better but still the modernity is lacking, the finitions in the bath is very approximative. the service from the people was excellent the propsed us several room. breakfast is poor. it is too expensive for the quality. location is good (next to Termini)but othwerwise it is a old fashioned hotel

The rooms are not clean. We booked 4 bed rooms and get 3 bed rooms and additional 1 bed room. So we could not stay all together with the family in one room. The rooms were realy loud even we reserved a quit room. Finally we would not stay again in that hotel!

We were sent to the infamous annex room. The lift was a bit scary to use and it was stuffy in the room, however, it was newly decorated and not bad size. Clean and quiet. We especially liked the bathroom. Considering its vcinity to the Termini Station and price, I think this hotel is a bargain.

On our 1st night, we were put up in a room in the side building to the main hotel where the lift was only to the 3rd floor and we had to climb another 18 steps to our floor. The Air Conditioning was not good and the room very hot. Also the Television didn't work and though they fixed it once it went off again so we let it be. There were ants in the room as well. We asked for the room to be changed to one in the main hotel. This they did next morning and the next 3 nights were very good, no problems at all.

We needed a hotel close to Roma Termini and Hotel Galles suited our requirements. A bit offputting was the smell that came through at times from the drains in the bathroom. Other than that, the room was huge, clean and comfortable and the hotel staff was very helpful & friendly. Breakfast was fairly basic but there was always plenty to eat. The hotel is very conveniently situated for the trains & buses and it was easy to get around to see the sights. Future travellers should note that the Leonardo Express from the airport cost E14 per person, which we felt was rather expensive. For a good restaurant close to the hotel, try Ristorante da Nazzareno - good food and lovely staff! A very pleasant stay all round and we'd definately stay at Hotel Galles again!

Reception at Galles was helpful especially Ms Claudia. Staff friendly. Breakfast was to repetitive. Lift is old and noisy especially when guests got up and left before I did or arrived after me. TV has hundreds of channels but not even one for each of the other major languages. Hotel Internet station was helpful. Hotel well situated with easy access to all forms of transport.

Room R44 has pigeons many living on the balcony, they were very noisy. There are droppings on the balcony. The staff was not freindly or helpful. when I left I had a 9 Euro charge for tax and internet I tried to pay with a 20 but the person at the desk would not accept it.. There are no maps available at the front desk, most places at least have a simple map to give to travellers. I would not recommend staying here.

This was a weekend break in Rome. The location was excellent as everything was walking distance. The room was quite clean but there was a nasty smell in the middle of the night which went away after an hour or so. I was away most of the day so not sure if the smell was there. Breakfast was okay but could be better. Everything was too sweet for my liking. Croissant with extra sugar topping were not good at all, scrabbled egg left out not on a hot plate or food warmer, breadrolls could have been better and also coffee not lukewarm. Please be clear on the check-in time on your website(I arrived at noon but could not check in until after 2pm) The staff were very hospitable though and this was not a problem. The shutter on the window made the room very dark and had to have the light on all the time.

All was OK, but my opinion is only about my room. It was located in a second building of the hotel. This part of the hotel is located behind of principal building and complete isolated of the principal checking desk, except by fone. There is another little checking desk in this part. So, every day were necessary to walk, more or less, two blocks around and outside of the building for taking breakfast. Nothing serious, except if it is raining.

When I booked for 4 people I mistakenly thought that meant one suite with 2 bedrooms. I was shocked to find a small room with 4 beds side by side, one of which was actually a cot. We requested a change the next morning and were given 2 suites at an additional cost. Based on something Ihad read in a review, I thought at least it would be spacious and be like a loft setup. The staff re not helpful with suggestions as to available restaurants etc. We had to search the neighbourhood ourselves.

We enjoyed a nice 4 day staying in Hotel Galles during August 2008. Although things did not start in the proper way cause we wewe moved to a near hotel (luckily, it was a better hotel) because air conditioning was not working, the hotel was nice in general, quiet and less than a kilometer from Termini station. Breakfast was reasonable, maybe juices and coffee would need an improvement, as well as the horrible and antique lift.

I stayed here twice for this trip, each were single days as I was in transit to Tuscany by train from Rome. On each stay the same front desk staff spoke only Italian and almost nothing of other languages. Made it hard when I got a delayed message from my airline. The first single room I got was very small but adequate for one night stay, it was quiet and very close to the train station, good A/C. The second room I got was a larger room with king bed in a building next door with an awkward tiny elevator and stairwell combination to reach the room. Room was larger, impeccable bathroom, but while the A/C was apparently running it didn't cool the room much in July. Breakfast was always good for a decent morning start. Recommendation: only for 1-2 travelers in transit to other parts of Italy who want to be near train station in a decent area.

The hotel is quite good considering the price. The employees quite bad. Our female receptionist was completly unpolite. She tried to move us to a different hotel without any explication, even when i had confirmed the book a few hours before without any problem.

Waht I am going to talk about is the Hotel Galles! I am very unsatisfied with the attitude of the clerk in the lobby counter. I arrived the hotel at 14:00, and he told me I should wait arround one hour with a unpolite tone. I said, but the check-in time I saw on the webpage is "Check-in: the rooms are available at any time after noon." "What is the meaning of noon?!"he said. "Noon means 12:00." I answered. "After noon means from 12:00 till midnight!" he said. At that moment, I am so shock and unhappy with his reply and manner of speaking! This is just a part of out conversation, I don't want to talk about this too much. Pease check what problem it is?!

Like many others, we found that our reservation was inaccurate as Hotel Galles only had us registered for 2 rather than 4. This problem was quickly taken care of with 2 beautiful rooms for our 1st night and one sufficant room for our 2nd night. Location is EXCELLENT as only 1 1/2 blocks from subway system. There is a GREAT pizza shop around the corner from the subway ... sold by the kg. it was the BEST pizza we had during our 2 weeks in Italy! We were very satisfied with our experience at Galles; would especially mention the desk staff as being pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. The housekeeping was excellent. We also appreciated the size and quality of the towels, and the fact that they were heated! A bit more variety in the breakfast would have been welcome, since we stayed eight nights, but one was certainly able to choose items that were nutritious and filling. We would recommend the hotel to friends.

terrible hotel. on arrival we were told we could not check in for two hours whilst they got our room ready. despite this, when we did check in, the room had not been cleaned since the last persons stay. room stank of SEWAGE and we had to be moved. the staff were ignorant and unfriendly. the breakfast was disgusting. they had a few cereals, and a choice of chocolate cake, or chocolate chip cookies!!!! for breakfast! and they werent even nice! the lift in the hotel was frightening! i dont have a problem with lifts usually, but despite being on the 4th floor, would rather take the stairs!! it didnt feel safe at all! the location of the hotel was good for getting around places on the tube, as it is only about a 5 minute walk from termini station, so is also good for airport transfers. however the area is not good for finding places to eat at night. the worst part of the hotel is that the maid who came to clean our room, stole a necklace of mine, which was of sentimental value. we tried to tell the staff on reception that is was 'missing', although we knew it had been taken, but they couldnt understand english so we just had to forget it. i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. we had a great time in rome, but the hotel was not worth the money we paid. i would rather have paid abit more for somewhere half decent.

Initially the contact with staff was good. However, as we were preparing to go to our rooms we were then made aware that the hotel had 3 entrances and our rooms were on the opposite side of the building, 2 blocks away by foot. He asked a bellman to help us with our bags, (8 couples in total with 16 bags). It was POURING rain and he handed us all an umbrella and proceeded to march us around the building in TERRENTIAL, (I mean gully-washer), downpour. We, and all our luggage was SOAKED. We mentioned something to the woman working front desk later and she brushed us off. The next day, we had a shuttle scheduled to take us to the airport and the front desk WOULD NOT send them around to the other entrance to pick us up but made us come all the way around again with tons of luggage. POOR STAFF JUDGEMENT OR CONCERN was our experience. The facility and rooms were just fine - well worth the price.

I would have rated Galles higher, but they had some problem our first night and put us in a much smaller hotel a good half mile away. It wouldn't have been a big deal if they didn't claim it would only take a day to fix only to overhear them tell other customers the same thing the day we left. It felt pretty suspicious to our whole group. Other than that, when we actually stayed IN Galles, it was beautiful. We had a 2 story room with a huge bathroom. The A/C didn't work as well as we would have liked (we were there in July) and the heat from the shower tended to rise into the upstairs bathroom, but other than that there were no problems. The staff at the front desk alternated from not caring enough to listen to a question before walking off into a back room to someone kind enough to schedule a tour for us. The included breakfast was nicer than those we had at other Italian hotels, and we were grateful for the hotel allowing us to store our luggage there after checkout. I'd recommend it to travelers willing to spend a little more than some places to be within 3 blocks of Roma Termini and near hostels with young people. There were also a couple of decent restaurants and a super market nearby.

In past few years my family have travel many countries by ourselves .This is the first time I travel in Italy for 18 days which is a good trip . And I must say hotel 'Gelles' is the worst hotel in my trip . Even it’s located in a convenient place near Termini Station and looks elegant . But it too old so the air-condition is noisy and doesn’t work well (the room is always hot ) , and the window isn’t sealed well which make us seem sleeping on the street (the hotel is located by a heavy traffic street ), and the room is very crowded . At last , part of the counter (the older one) is not very tender who doesn’t care the guest’s feeling and opinion . So I am very regret to make 3 nights reservation and I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone . If the hotel won’t promote their equipment and attitude their price should reduce a half which is worthless .

As was mentioned in other reviews, we were taken to a hotel around the corner after checking into Hotel Galles, but it was okay as we expected that. We were a little worried at first because the hallways leading to our room were a little scary. The carpet was stained, there was a thick layer of dust on the railings and just generally didn't look very good. However, our room was beautiful with a large, marble bathroom, nice towels, an upstairs loft with plenty of storage space, flat screen t.v and a marble balcony with beautiful french doors and high celiings. We were very impressed. The hotel was not in the greatest part of town, but was close to train station making it extrememly convenient to get in and out of town. We walked to most of the sights we wanted to see, but there was also a metro stop only a couple of blocks away which was also convenient to use. Most of the staff was friendly and those who weren't, were not rude, just not overly helpful/friendly. Breakfast was pretty typical but good and lasted until 10am which is later than most places we stayed. We were pleased with what we got for the money we paid.

Generally, the hotel is acceptable for what you pay. The staff are helpful although they had let our room to other people when we arrived alet at night, but another was soon allocated. The rooms overlooking the front can be noisy at times and the room we stayed in was rather cramped. Breakfast was more than you would need and there are several good restaurants in the local area. Location to the Termini is good - only 5 minutes away and the area felt safe even late at night. Beware pickpockets on crowded buses - someone stood next to us was 'done' in the middle of the day. A excellent hotel that was a few minutes walk from the major station Termini. The hotel was excately what we needed although rooms where not huge they where what we needed. We will be recommending the hotel to my parents who are going to Rome later in the year.

We were sent to a different hotel that was fine but lacked amenities like a cup of tea or cofee or a drink. Apparently they do this often so they should make it clear on the web site.

We made a reservation for a double room, the first day we were given the room for disabled people and the second a single room with a bed a little wider than usual. After complaining we were given another room without towels, don´t let them cheat you. Personal from reception not very kind in general, the best is the location, just five minutes away from termini, but don´t expect too much from hotels in rome.

I find the hotel somewhat expenseive for it's quality. Other friends booked and stayed in similar hotels for a lower tariff. We payed 198 euros per night, and friends stayed, in a more centric area, paying around 120-140 euros, for a comparable room

Very easy to find. We had a great experience in Rome and this location was so convenient, a 8 minute walk from the train station where we could find good food on the run. There was also a metro stop close by. The breakfast was good and the room had a classy "state room of a boat" look to it. At first I thought I would be too closed in but it was fine.

The hotel is well-positioned, near Termini Station. Via Marghera takes you there in no time. It's a nice place, clean rooms, great breakfast. Only two problems: the rooms are pretty small and they are dark. There are only two bedside lamps. Otherwise, it's ok.

Due to some water damage at the Hotel Galles, upon our arrival we were re-located to a nearby Hotel for the first of our 5 night stay. This second hotel was very local, nice, and comparable to Hotel Galles. As recompense, once we moved back to Galles on our second day, we were give a free upgraded room that was lovely, and very much appreciated. The Hotel locacation was ideal for touring Rome and many good restaurants just a few minutes walking distance.

I travel often to Italy and other parts of europe. I can say this was my least favorite hotel due simply to the staff. The rooms were nice, although no internet like promised. But the staff on both of my days there were very short and unhelpful.

This Hotel is an excellent value. It is just a five minute walk from the Termini. The room was quite spacious, it had a loft! Breakfast included a good variety of breads, fruit, juices, cheese and ham slices. We intend to make it our hotel of choice when we visit Rome.

Galles is a lovely hotel for the price and location is fantastic, lots of lovely bars and eating places,it is very close to the terminal but it has one downfall, the guy with the grey hair on the desk. He must be one of the most unhelpful people we have ever come across. We arrived early after a very long journey and we knew we couldnt get into our rooms until 2pm so we asked if we could have tea, or something from the bar, this was declined, the bar is closed 24/7 so we just had to wait. The reason we picked Galles was because of were it was and the fact it had a bar as we did'nt want to be out walking in a strange area at night time. This man should retire to the grumpy old mens home and let Galles get on with it.

hallo, it was the second time we were staying in this hotel and again it was very good because: 1 the location is very good, we went on holiday with ryanair and the bus-stop is near this hotel (the train station) 2 also there is a metro-stop in the street 3 also the rooms are ok , just some little things could be better but then you better stay at home : - ))

My boyfriend and I had no problems whilst staying at Galles Hotel, and we would defiantly recommend staying there, for 72 Euros a night including breakfast you can't really go wrong! Check in was strictly at 2pm, which for us wasn't a huge issue, although it would of been nice to be able check in a bit early as we had a 6.10am flight and were at the hotel by 11.30am which meant hanging around in the lounge area for just over 2 hours, this was ok as there are comfy sofas to snooze on, but this was not the hotels fault. We had no problems whilst staying there like I said, the room was what we needed a bed, which was comfy and a very modern bathroom, a combined shower and Jacuzzi bath, which was lovely after all the long days of walking we done around Rome! The bedroom decor wasn't the best but hey that isn't an issue really! Breakfast wasn't bad, a continental buffet, which consisted of bread rolls, butter, jam, cakes, cereal, and fruits though I wouldn't advice hot chocolate from the coffee machine! it was horrible watery powder stuff... The Hotel is very close to the Termini Station as this website says, it is literally a five minute walk, though there is the metro station (C. Pretrio) 2minutes from the hotel door. Which will take you to all the major sites. When checking out you have to be out by 12pm, this wasn't a problem either as the hotel has the facility to leave your luggage should you happen to have a late flight like we did! I just wanted to thank venere.com for making booking online so easy, this was the first time we have done so and we found it really helpful getting other peoples views on the hotel, so thanks!

Although they gave us a loft style "mini-duplex" room at the last minute we decided to book the room, their service and hospitality were both rude and inconsiderate. They acted like we were bothering them all the time. Our room was located outside of the hotel around the corner and they just expected for me to know this, and when I asked for help or directions the manager asked this young man to take me to the room but he complained about not wanting to do it. Very poor service indeed, but you get what you pay for, so I guess we shouldn't have expected all that much from this hotel. It's a good location, very close to the train station, though. The next time we go to Rome, we would choose another hotel with friendlier and better customer service.

Upon arrival I was moved 3 times due to rooms having defects in air conditioning, clogging of shower etc. I was never offered an apology and I practically had to beg the General Manager for a discount for the inconvenience. I don't think that I would come back or refer anyone back to this hotel. Staff was very rude and not friendly. It's a very good location and close to metro and termini but I can always stay at the Best Western around the corner.

The reception staff were surly and attempted to disregard prior request for a twin bedded room and directed us to an annexe a decent walk away instead of the hotel proper. As I speak Italian I ensured I got what was booked but I wonder how many others have been duped.

Our quad room was readied early when we arrived in the early morning following an overnight train trip. That was welcome! However, our room was a bit funky: a missing air conditioner, a very low ceiling on the second floor of our room that contained two beds and the bathroom. The beds on the main floor were a sleeper sofa and a portable bed. But the location of the hotel is wonderful, with a metro entrance just a block away, and a great cheap pizza place a few doors down. It's only a few blocks from Termini Station. The hotel's free breakfast is just fine. Although our room was funky, it was very nice that they let us in hours early, and the lobby area was quite lovely. We would likely return here again. I just might ask to see the room before accepting it.

Do you want to spend some time in Rome? The right answer is Hotel Galles. Very very closed to the Termini Station but in a cleanliness area, very quite and safe. There are some nice restaurants in this area but you can get the bus or underground walking 2 minutes. And the price of the room is favolous...only 73 euros for a double room with full breakfast!!. The room was very nice and the bathroom exceptional!! A modern shower, modern bath in marble...very cool. Me and my girl friend had a very nice time in Hotel Galles.

I spent 2 days stayng in double room "204". I've found it clean and roomy. 3 stars is the right quotation for the hotel with exception of breakfast that I've found really poor and worthy for an alchemist (magic dustes for everything tea, orange juice, milk, coffee).

Very good Hotel. Good staff, speaking English fluently. They did have some problem remembering our room has 4 people, so everyday we had to ask for more towels to be delivered, which they were promptly. The room was very spacious, with the Bathroom and 2 single beds on the top floor, overlooking the bottom floor, with a folding out love seat. The location is not bad - close to a Metro station, and they have a taxi service to the Airport, for 50 Euro (4 people + 3 suitcases), which was just perfect. The A/C was working OK, but a little on the weak side, so keep it running (when you leave the room for the day, or evening). Breakfast was good. We had a nice stay, and we found a very good restaurant a walk away, called "Monti" - highly recommended, so we enjoyed our stay here, and so we'll probably stay here again if the chance arrives.
