Location is great for access to bus and train transportation and convienent enough for walking to many tourist spots in Rome. The front desk staff during the day understood English well enough but, we had trouble communicating with the staff at night. There was also some confusion regarding the availability of the breakfast which we did not receive during the 3 night stay.

I specifically asked for one NON smoking room in my reservation letter. But I got one room smell like a chimney. Old staff at night shift cannot speak English. He asked to keep all our passport, I did not agree, he frightened me to call the police. I have to go back to the police station in the train terminal to settle this. A very bad experience to stay in this hotel. NOT recommend to anyone.

It's a good place to spend holidays in Rome. The Hotel is really near to metro and Termini's station, so you can get soon to the more important places to Rome.

What can you expect from cheap hotels? Nothing special. Room was tiny, furniture worn out, shower tiny as well and water was soaking through shower cabin glass doors on the floor. I don’t care much out of it, only what I need is hot water in shower, clean towels and sheets, and comfortable bed. Water was just warm enough not to freeze, bed was good enough to sleep well after exhausting walk around the city. But one I can say definitely- personnel were friendly and they did their best. Price was too high, I would accept that room with no complains for lower price, lets say-40€ would be acceptable.

The stay was not helped by building work on the floor below which caused dust to be everywhere. We were a group of 26 and some of the 5 bedded and 4 bedded rooms were a squeeze but the triple room would really struggle to be a single. The bathrooms were fine. It was a good hotel for a 6th form group as we had the place to ourselve- a younger group would have struggled without communal facilities. very handy for Termini. some of the 'life' outside was 'interesting'.

The room was too small for two people - one had to lie on the bed to give the other room to move; the bathroom/toilet, though clean, was tiny - you had to enter and leave the shower area at an angle. The toilet seat was broken; the curtain was torn from the rail; the door jamb coming off the wall; the walls marked and grubby; the lock on the door was flimsy All in all, it was the worst hotel I have stayed in in Rome for the price

This hotel is tiny and not very cosy. Room are ok, very clean with a.c. But the shovercabinet was broken. You have to ask for toilettpaper if you need also clean towells. You get italian breakfast at a friendly bar just aroound the corner.

this hotel is to expensive for what they offer. Poor breakfast, only one drink and one croissant and not even in the hotel, but in a bar around the corner. The bathroom was very small and the toilet was leaking. very noisy personel was smoking in the hotel The other hotels in the same building offer more quality fot the same price.

We were very happy with the location, very close to the train station and a vibrant neighborhood. I did not think the neighborhood was "rough" at all. The hotel keeper was very nice if not polished. It was a little difficult to find the hotel- more because we did not know where to look for street names (on the sides of buildings) rather than any defect in the map. The room was very small but perfectly fine for us.

The staff are friendly and helpful. There was no hot water for the 4 nights we stayed which made showering very unpleasant. The noise from outside kept us awake but what can you expect from a busy city? On the whole the cost was on a par with the quality so no complaints.

The staff were not particularly friendly. Nor where they visible. On more than one occasion, members of my family were left locked outside of the hotel because the reception was left unattended. The towels provided in the room resembled table cloths, and certainly felt like it too. The ensuite bathroom was extremely small. Heating in the rooms was insufficient. You pay for what you get, but this place could do with some improvement. Rooms are rather cramped in the Family (5bed) and suffers from a lot of road noise from outside, and the noise of people coming and going in the early hours of the morning.

We had a heck of a time finding the place and when we got there the employee seemed to be confused about our reservation and demanded payment up frount. Parking was quoted as 20 eur a day but they seemed unsure of that and we paid 30 E a day. The first night we were put in a tiny room but promised to be moved for the next two nights. Our bags were movede to a nice room the next day but we were informed that the plumbing was bad in that room so moved to another worse room ; even though they rented out the " bad plumbing room ". (Maybe to folks that did not pay in advance ) The beds in the new room wer horrible and in oder to go to the bathroom my knees had to fit under the sink. I am a big man and could barely fit into the shower ; and while our first night we had a double bed ; the next two night it was two twins pushed together and my side was VERY soft. In the first room we found a dirty sock under the bed and the glass in the bathroom was dirty with old toothpaste. The nightlife outside the hotel was interesting ; but such is downtown rome. With the extra expense of parking the car and the high quality of the bus system ; i would strongly recomend staying at a nice place further out of town.

Hotel GABRIELE is very well situated; you can walk throughout Rome without the necessity to take the subway. Negative about the location near the Termini Station is that the neighbourhood is very noisy; a lot of traffic in the streets and you hear these noises through the very thin windows. The single rooms are very expensive, however this is in fact a double room (but single occupancy) so that you have a lot of space. The showers are rather small. We staid in this hotel with a group of 11 friends, and because of our stay, the hotel was full (I think there are 7 rooms, and we had 6 of them!). It seemed like a "private hotel", only for us. There is free internet access in the corridor, which is also very nice! Breakfast is served in a coffeeshop nearby. Breakfast consists of a coffee and a croissant (so don't be very hungry in the morning!), however, it was very nice to be able to have a seat with our group of 11 people in this coffeeshop (and the Caffélatté was very good!). We enjoyed our stay in hotel Gabriele very much, thanks again for having us!

First, I need to agree that this hotel is in a VERY SEEDY part of town...our camcorder was stolen, and my father-in-law's wallet was taken. Second, it is very difficult to drive to due to the one-way streets (the hotel is located on a street that is one way on one side and the other way on the other side) and a maze of one-way streets all around. Third, when we got to the hotel the owner said he had some "problems" with the rooms, which I think means that they were overbooked...and it wasn't just with me, I saw another man who was upset due to the same circumstances. He WAS very nice. He took us across the street to the Acropolis hotel, which I was not at all impressed with. We had booked for 2 nights, but the second night he had the same problem, so we ended up not even staying 2 nights. My advice...spend a little more money (afterall, the cost of a camcorder is a lot more :) and book a hotel in a better part of town.

Asking hotel Gabriele staff about payment with credit card, they said - additional 5% has to be added to the total amount! It's first time I've met that paying with credit card is more costly than cash. One more bad thing, the staff was smoking in the hotel. But the smoke did not go into the room.

The hotel is not so bad, but I do not enjoy my accomodation because of two reasons: 1. The personnal is smoking in the hotel, 2. During two days of my staying the hot water was absent because of failure with heating system. Moreover, my request to reduce the price because of problems with hot water has not been satysfied.

The location of the hotel is strategic..many shops and also restaurants around..But The price is very expensive for this hotel..since it is in the 4th floor..and the lift is very narrow..n the furniture in the bed room is quite old..a bit scary..I would recommend this hotel for those who will travel with a group but not alone.

Excelent location for transportation (two small blocks from subway termini station), a lot of places to eat, good price for what they offer, this hotel is good if you want to sleep only, it is clean and safe, small like european hotels. Take ear plugs with you, noisy at night, a lot of traffic and people. If you do not want to spend a lot of money in hotel, want to sleep in a clean and safe hotel, this is the one, don't forget ear plugs!

The high ceilings in the rooms made them quite comfortable. The shower in one of the rooms was extremely small for American men, but better than no shower at all. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast around the corner was fun. It is a good location near the train station and bus terminal.

The two things that I required for my stay in Rome was a reasonable price for a family of 5 and closeness to the train station. Gabriele fit both needs. I did not expect much in terms of accomodations. The room itself was a bit run-down (plaster cracks in the walls, loose tiles in the small bathroom) but it was roomy enough for five people and did have air conditioning. The area is city urban and a little noisy at night, but it is also a well traficed area filled with vacationers. There were enough restaurants around to find a reasonably priced dinner, a supermarket within walking distance, and the cafe where you got breakfast at was close and very good. In my view, hotels are just a place to sleep, so I do not need too many extras. If you have the same opinion, the Gabriele is an good place to stay

This was a good value for our money. We visited in June and paid 140 Euros for a room big enough for five people (three twins, one double bed). They also had a computer with free internet in the public area. The rooms came with their own private bathroom complete with a shower and sink. Towels and bedsheets were also provided. There was also a safe in the room that allowed you to create your own combination. I'm not sure why this hotel is rated a 1 star, we checked out 3 stars in the area offering similar accomodations for twice the price and there was not much difference. The biggest downside is the neighborhood, it's pretty seedy at night and you should watch your wallet at all times but it's close to the main train station (Terminii) and therefore convenient. Just be aware of your surroundings and you should enjoy this hotel. The staff was very hospitable as well. I think it's a great bargain considering the multitude of overprices hotels in Rome during the peak season.

We booked a quadruple (family room, 2 adults, 2 children13/11). A small hotel on the 4th floor, all those stairs, good for your health. The hotel is oke,to sleep and shower. The streetnoises are sometimes boring at night, but Rome is a noisy city!! Breakfast is served in a bar around the corner. It's not a cheap hotel, but Rome is expensive. No problems with the neighbourhood, some nice places to eat (Angelo in Via Gioberti).

Yes, these are very fine lodgings that are close to the railway station, the metro, and within easy walking distance of the ancient section of Rome. Though the hotel is on the fourth floor, there is an elevator. Guiseppe and the charming young woman, who oversee the hotel, are charming and helpful, informed, and a pleasure to meet. This is a fine place to stay in Rome if one eschews large hotels and one appreciates the amenities of smaller, friendly accomodations.

Unfortunately the room was awfully noisy, we could not sleep during our stay. The area is a bit dangerous. The Hotel is on the 4th floor of a house. Despite of the venere's sign of having parking place, the hotel has not parking place at all, so we were very disappointed, because we had to leave our car in the street, and had to pay parking fee during our stay. We are shocked at hearing the information of our bank that Hotel Gabriel asked the bank to dedact 80 Euros from our count, after we payed them all the price by cash. So we don't know at the moment how to get back our money. To be frank, we are not satisfied with the accommodation.

General: after first shock quite normal place, kind people, especially Giuseppe Harming: 1.there were 2+1 bed rooms available, but we would prefer 1+1+1 rooms (all male,no homos with us) 2. they moved 3 of us into 1+1+1 room next morning, people forgot some of their things to the first room. When we arrived in the evening, there was no chance to get things back (room was cleaned, no things were found) Finally: everything OK, it was nice trip to Roma, thank you all who were involved. The hotel was really a good choice because of it´s low price. The service was good and the staff very nice. We liked the experience of having real italian breakfast in a bar (which was included in the price for the room). The location is excellent. The only thing that is important to know is that you should not leave things laying around in the room because the staff likes cleanliness and may throw away some of your things. We very much recommend this hotel to young people who don´t have very high expectations and who don´t want to spend a lot of money but who want to be close to the train station and to the major sights.

If you think you might be interested in a hotel in Rome and don't want to spend a ton, Gabriele is the place to be. But be warned! The can is tiny, even microscopic. The worst part, is in our room, the hot and cold knobs in the shower released more water pressure than the actual shower head. And the lift, when working, could only hold Arnold Schwarzenneger and a small dwarf, with no luggage! The staff was super nice, even too nice, to the point of talking for ages when we wanted to sleep. The breakfast consited of the standard tea or coffee and a plastic-wrapped 3-month-old-but-decent crossiant, jam, honey and crusty crunchy hard pseudo bread pieces which are ok if you put a ton of butter on them. But you better eat 73 or more if you hope to get full. The woman running the place was very nice, and CRAZY about cleanliness! In her words: "C'e' pulito e c'e' sanitario!" (There's clean and there's sanitary!) Believe me, she keeps the place sterilized. She even buys surgical cheesecloth to cover the dishes. Ask her, she'll show you. OVERALL: Great. I highly reccomend it, but they better fix the shower in room 1 if you go there. (Honest.)
