We traveled with our family. The hotel was in a great location. The personnel was helpful and nice. The decor was artistic and colorful. The rooms were tiny. The facilities were small but adequate for our purposes, as we spent our days exploring the city and only returned to the hotel to sleep at night.

Via Margutta is the best street in Rome; quiet, pretty, little traffic, near everything, good restaurants. Hotel windows keep out all noise, air conditioner keeps room cool, so sleeping is perfect. Room small but adequate. Hot water not so hot, but adequate. Decent breakfast.

This was our first visit to Rome and we chose Forte after a lot of research on venere.com.We were more than happy with the hotel and the location is literally 5 mins walk from the Piazza de Spagna which is a wonderfully central point from which to sightsee around Rome. The Hotel is on the first floor and there is an elegant elevator. Our room was small but very comfortable, very clean and we had a Queen bed. Breakfast was very nice and the lady who served it was lovely.Via Margutta is a beautiful, quiet street of art galleries and restaurants but limited vehicular traffic so is very quiet. We would love to stay there again and would recommend it highly.

I really liked the location. Via Margutta is a quaint, quiet street but very close to the Spanish Steps and a short walk to Piazza del Popolo and Trevi Fountain. The subway is very convenient and we found it the best way to get around Rome. The breakfast was adequate; fairly typical offeriings. We had to pay extra for internet (5€) and TV (10€) per day which I found excessive. We stayed in a double room which was very small and dark, even by European standards. The hosts at the desk were very polite and eager to help. All spoke English very well.

It was the first time I went to Rome but several in Italy. I recommend TRATTORIA Da Ugo al Gran Sasso via di Ripetta 32, Roma. The owner speaks French. It's a family cook since 40 years. I add ADRIANA restaurant near the hotel, via di Ripetta for the lovely Terrasse and Trattoria Corso via Corso near Popolo Plaza for the excellent gnocchis.

The hotel was small but beautiful and the room size was typical of european hotels. All of our luggage (mine and teenage daughter) was lost for 5 days and the staff (especially Fabbio) were incredible in attempting to contact the airline for us on a daily basis. Internet access is available for a daily fee if you do not bring your laptop. Decent breakfast with typical fare (including cereal and hard boiled eggs). All staff very welcoming/helpful-would not hesitate to stay here again.

Overall the rooms were very small - we booked a double and a single occupancy room which had a small double bed squashed in between two walls - it felt like being in a cupboard! Otherwise the staff were peasant without being overly welcoming. Breakfast was a disappointment (very poor selection) in cramped conditions with undrinkable coffee. However the location of the hotel was superb - just around the corner from the Spanish steps. This alone would make me recommend the Forte Hotel.

Excellent hotel just round the corner from the Spanish Steps, situated in a quiet street close to the Via del Corso. Staff were very competent, helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was clean, and while small it was adequate as we were out all day. Breakfast offered a cold buffet selection - a good variety, with tea, coffee in flasks and cappucino, latte etc made on request. We would return to this hotel.

I really liked this hotel. It is not the perfect picturesque "room with a view", but good value for the money; quiet, central and comfortable. And a short walk from the Metro which makes it easily accessible from Termini. We had booked a double but ended up with a triple room for the same price, so perhaps my perceiving the rooms as rather spacious is an exaggeration.I do not mean to insult the Italians, but in my experieence many Italians (even the ones working with tourism) have a poor command of English. The staff in the reception all spoke English really well. They were also service-minded and friendly. If I would complain about something it would be the breakfast, somewhat on the boring side but with a lady serving good freshly made coffee. (I am not sure if we are considered a mature or a young couple by the way since we are both 35. We feel neither young nor mature. Middle aged?)

We just came back from our wonderfull trip in Italy. This hotel was great. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful!! It made a huge difference. The location of this hotel couldn't be better! it is in the quite little street a min walking from the spanish steps. It is a very quite street and right in the middle of everything. The breakfast was good as well. However if you would like more choices you should show up earlier. The lady also does capuccino if you request! We really enjoyed our stay and would come back.

We enjoy our stay on Hotel Forte, the room was a bit little, but the cleanliness was excellente, all the empolees were really kind and were willing to help us in whatever we'd need. The relationship price/quality was really good, and the location was just excellente, near a wide range of the important touristic places and principals fountains and squares.

We took a taxi from the airport (at 55 euros for 5 of us) so as not to struggle to find the hotel. The entrance is through massive double doors into a stone flagged entry-way. A comically antique lift took us up to the hotel, which is on the first floor. Staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke perfect English. The situation couldn't be beaten - just round the corner from the Spanish Steps and the Villa Borghese. Our 3 children shared a double room with an extra bed added, and were perfectly comfortable. Our room was very much smaller, and had a tiny bathroom with a shower that leaked, and no mini bar, but it was fine - clean and with a comfortable bed, and the air con worked well. Breakfast was excellent, for a hotel, as they can sometimes be dreadful - and incredibly, the cappuccino they made for me was the best coffee I had during our stay in Italy.

Very comfortable hotel in a very pleasant street near Spanish Steps but away from the immediate bustle. Staff friendly. Good breakfast. Would have rated hotel very highly except hotel overbooked on our first of 4 nights and we were consigned to an inadequate undersized room. We had a very comfortable room for the rest of our stay.

The staff at hotel forte is extremely friendly and helpful! The hotel is extremely close to the spanish steps, the metro and high end shopping. The only problem we had was that the ceiling on the lower floor of the 2 floor hotel room (which is where the bathroom was) was only maybe 6'3'' high, so my boyfriend could not stand in the shower. At 5'8'' i was extremely close to hitting the ceiling myself. If you are thinking of booking a room here ask for one that is farther away from the reception....because you can here people checking in and out early in the morning. The breakfast was sufficient with bread, ham, cheese, croissants, juice, yogurt etc..your typical continental breakfast. We would definitely stay at hotel forte because of the helpful staff, clean rooms, and the central location to all the roman sites.

Staying in Rome is expensive in general and the hospitality industry is not the best italians can do (at least I was advised so). I found Hotel Forte on the net and it was all we wanted. My sister, my mum and I wanted a clean, decent place, close to the sites and well connected to public transport. Staff were vey kind and helpful, the breakfast was good and the premises were clean and confortable. This hotel has the best location in the city, 3 minutes away from Piazza Spagna, 5 min. from Piazza del Popolo, walking distance to Fontana de Trevi,...many bus lines pass near the hotel and the metro too. The hotel is located in the middle of a great shopping area that ranges from the expensive Chanel to the more reasonable Mango. I do recommend this hotel, I would stay there again.

Hotel Forte staff were very pleasant and efficient. Room was a little small but not a problem as we did not go to Rome to spend a lot of time in a hotel room. My daughter (11) loved it all and in particular, the old-fashioned lift and shutters. Via Margutta is a great location, with good restaurants - Osteria Margutta and Il Margutta Vegetarian - both excellent.

Beautiful location, in the very heart of Rome. Very easy access from the airport. Nice places to eat and have a coffee in the neighbourhood. Hotel staff very friendly and ready to help with advises. Rooms are quite small, but very clean and comfy. Some baths are smelling because of the old sewage system, but hey, we are in the old center of Rome..Shopping street is (too) near with lots of interesting shops. Breakfast is THE most filling you could get in Italy. All in all, beautiful historical hotel, beautifully set on the romantic via Margutta. Highly recommended.

In September 2008 the building was undergoing some renovation work therefore come construction noise was unavoidable. The hotel building is old but quaint and situated in a quiet road with some designer type shops but is very close to the Spanish Steps. Our room was small but adequate and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typically continental with the addition of cold meat and hard boiled warm eggs. We walked to most sites - if you are 65+ take your passport as the Colosseum/Palatino/Roman Forum combined ticket is free.Get to the Vatican early as the queues build up by mid-morning. We went by Metro (1 Euro) and arrived by 8.30am. I would recommend Hotel Forte for its central position if you intend to use the room and hotel just as a base but it was an enjoyable stay at a reasonable price.

I requested a room with a view, and when I arrived the building was under construction, and my room was right next to the lift. The room was so small and very loud with the construction going on in the building and it wasn't even cleaned!!!! the view was of the street, and was very loud. building was charming, but the room was far less superior than I thought.

The hotel caters to the budgt conscious minded person who is looking for a convienent location. We were pleasently suprised as they put us in a flat a few blocks from the hotel which was located on a busy street full of great restauants and bars. the falt was spacious and the A/C worked terrfic. The only issue was walking up and down the stairs with our luggage. I also want to commnet that the hotels front desk manager - Emanuel - was extremely knowledable about the cityh and offered us valuable advice on where to ea and things to do.

We travelled with two childen & required 1 room 4 persons we were booked to stay in apartement near the hotel put due to plumbing problems this was not available and stayed in main hotel. i suspect a three person room was adjusted for us as is was very small with little space for storage(we had lots of luggage as we were touring) but for a short stay was fine.Location was ideal and management and staff were perfect which more than made up for shortage of space. Hotel staff were very polite and welcoming but some, had difficulties understanding other languages, and one would not have expected it in view of the position they held in the hotel. However, that is not to detract from their eagerness to assist and in their warm welcome. The rooms would be big enough for one, but are somewhat cramped for two adults staying in the same room. Other noisy occupants were a bit of a problem during our stay.

Nice Hotel and top location. Spanish steps are 5 min from your bed. here is also the underground that brings you for 1 Euro to the Vatikan or Central station (3-4 stops). Rooms are small but have a nice big bathroom. the staff is good and speaks english pretty good. The best are all the nice! shopps and restaurants. only 10 minutes walk away. Remember to bring your Nike Air shoes. you'll walk a lot in Rome!!! With all the many things to see, make sure to check out Tastevere on the other side of the Tiber river for an aimless stroll. And don't forget to eat at Alfredo's (also 10 minutes walk from Hotel Forte)- the emperor of the fettuccini. :-)

The place was exactly as represented on the website. The location was excellent as we walked, although a lot, through the entire old part of the city including the colloso areas, Vatican City. Easy access to the Metro, literally a half block. The Spanish steps were an excellent landmark for a bench mark for your walks. Couldn't ask for much more than just a bit more time, to be there. Grazie, Forte. Will use you again upon our return. The Wagners.

Our stay at at the Hotel Forte was excellent, it could not be faulted, staff were lovely, the location to the Spanish Steps was excellent. The breakfast was lovely chocolate and lemon pastries, boiled eggs, ham and cheese, cereals and yoghurt, delicious tea and coffee. The room was quite spacious and very quiet, we faced onto a courtyard at the back of the hotel. It was a cute quaint building with a wrought iron spiral staircase and elevator. The Hotel made our trip to Rome extra special I just wish we could have stayed longer. Will certainly stay again.

We stayed in the apartment which would be a great option for a family as there were 2 single beds and a double. I had a very enjoyable stay at The Hotel Forte. The size of the room was my only concern. It was clean and comfortable but for the price I found it a bit small and this particular room had no view in fact I was reluctant to keep my window open during the night since it opened out onto a catwalk shared by other rooms. This aside it was a great place to be, very convenient and the staff were extremely kind, cheerful and very helpful. Great breakfasts. I looked into other rooms on my way out and there were others that were larger and better located. I would recommend this hotel to others just not that particular small room.

Booked an apartment via Venere site at the Hotel Forte. As we were a family of 4 persons, we wanted an sizeable apartment, seperate bedrooms, good facilites comparable to a 3 star hotel. Web pages looked impressive, quality looked assuered. How wrong we were !! It was a 1 room with 1 bed and two ''put-up'' beds, garden furniture as chairs, no room to move around, poorly lit,not enough hot water, and when not being used by mis-guided travellers it was used by the hotel staff (for 1 person). We arrived at 10pm in the evening by 8 o'clock the next morning we had moved out, although we had booked for longer. We would never recommend this apartment to anyone at the price charged or quality offered.1 star would be too generous. The Hotel may be fine, aviod the apartment at all costs!

Loved the area that the hotel was in. Our biggest complaint was the noise. We were in a room, right accross from the breakfast room and right behind the front desk, so it could be noisy and also they were doing some work on the hotel, waking us up one morning. Also, the 'shower' wasn't mounted to the wall, it was hand held only

Forte is the worst hotel I stayed in during my recent trip to Italy at the end of August. The rooms and service were absolutely horrible! For the price, it certainly is not worth it. The bathrooms are very tiny, and the service is really bad. Except for one woman at the front desk, both of the men we encountered working during our 4 day stay there were less than helpful. In addition, the walls are paper thin, and we could hear conversations in the other rooms. The only good thing about the Forte is the location, but other than that, it really isn't worth it.

Excellent hotel - we loved the Via Margutta - quiet, beautiful street, near the Spanish Steps (which are totally noisy and full of men hawking horrible plastic noisemakers). HIghly recommended although we did get bit by mosquitos every time we walked in the room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Forte! The rooms were adequate and the location was great. We were very close to the Spanish Steps and by the end of our stay we were familiar enough with the area that we took the nearby subway to the train station instead of paying the money for a taxi. The staff was very friendly and helpful with information and directions. The breakfast was nice as well. I would definately stay there again!

Overall good and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was excellent. I was a little disappointed with the standard of the room and bathroom but then we were in central Rome and the price was relativly reasonable. Top tip: Don't be lazy, learn some basic Italian before you travel...it goes miles.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Forte. The rooms were very clean; staff were welcoming and accommodating, both before and during our visit. The breakfast buffet was very good, offering plenty of choice. The room, while very comfortable, was on the small side. The area was very central, but nonetheless very quiet, on a very picturesque side street. The location was perfect for exploring Rome on foot; 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps and a 30 minutes walk (maximum) to the Vatican Museums, to the Colesseum and to Piazza Navona and beyond. We also took advantage of their limo service from the airport to the hotel which was convenient.

This hotel is located on Via Margutta just a short walk to the Spanish steps, metro and other sites. We found it to be a perfect location at a superb value.

We requested a room to sleep 4ppl, and the hotel booked us in an apartment that was 2 blocks from the hotel...ok, no problem. BUT, when we checked in, we were given a map to get to the apartment, a ring with 6 keys, and 3 of them had to be used to get into different parts of the building housing the apartment, and no one escorted us to make sure we could find it and get in. when we finally found the building, there was no lift, so we had to drag our large bags up 3 flights of stairs and struggle with the keys to figure out the doors. when we got in we had a phone that didn't connect us to the hotel (we found out later it was to let people into the building) and it took us an hour to figure out how to turn the air conditioner on. the next day, after a LONG journey around rome, we got back and there had been no housekeeping services done to the room and no fresh towels. when we walked the three blocks to the actual hotel, they told us that housekeeping in the apartment was every other day. when we returned the next day to the same thing, and walked the three blocks to question the hotel...we were told that housekeeping services were only after we checked out, and we were given additional towels. the only thing that was mentioned whan i made the reservation was that the apartment was a few blocks from the hotel. they never disclosed that there was no lift, no housekeeping etc...and we were very unhappy with the responsiveness to our frustrations. we were staying there for 4 nights and in the end, they reduced our rate by 80 euros total, not even one full nights stay. i work for the intercontinental hotel chain, and have been in the hotel business for 15 years, and this is a hotel i would not recommend to my worst customer.

We traveled as two mature adults with our college age daughters. The first night we were in two rooms. They were very small but clean, great air conditioning and a perfect location. The next two nights we moved to the annex apartment that slept four. It was very basic but a good deal considering the very fashionable, upscale shopping and restaurnts. There was no lift to the third floor of our annex room so carrying the luggage with no help from the staff was a challenge. The staff seemed unfamiliar with the annex so getting the air conditioning to work and the tv meanst several calls since there was no one availble to assist us in our move. There was a good cost savings so it was worth it. We ate breakfast in the main hotel daily which was good. The staff was very helpful with direction but not so helpful with getting set up in the annex.

The location is superb, very central and yet very quiet. We had a spacious room over two floors. If we go to Rome again, we would definitely stay at this hotel.

I was more than pleased with the Hotel Forte. It was excellent in every respect. The double room was one of the largest I've seen in Rome and the single was comfortable as well. I would definitely stay there again.

The location was excellant and the staff very helpful. The room was, to say the least, small with very little room to walk or move on one side of the bed. Writing desk and bed actually met at the end of the bed so you had to climb over the end of the bed!! The room was very dark as it was not possible to open the window shutters fully. We had to have a light on al the time. Only space to layout one suitecase and very limited storage space. The continental breakfast was good though there were a limited number of tables at which to sit. This made for a rushed meal! Despite all this the stay was good and would return to the Hotel, but in a bigger room.

Very nice and helpful staff. The rooms were a little small, but fine for my husband and I. The only complaint was that everytime the person in the room next to ours would flush the toilet we could hear it in our room. Great location that was near lots of shopping and close by tourist sights.

Hotel Forte was a good choice for our week-end stay. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. No doubt I'll be coming back to Forte whenever I'll be in Rome. Well located, clean (although rooms are rather minuscule), and with an outstanding rate price / service, Hotel Forte is an excellent option for any stay in Rome.

A small and nice Hotel. If you need to have the windows open in the nights, it`s a lot of noice in the street early in the morning. You can walk to all places in a short time mostly everywhere. Metro 5. min walk from the hotel. We will com back to this Hotel.

We booked a flat. It is not in the hotel, but few streets nearby. The flat was OK but the TV was with one station only (Italian), and the flat is in the 3rd floor without elevator. But all in all, I would recommend this hotel to others. We enjoyed the breakfast.A great location near the Spanish Steps. The hotel staff was very helpful, and speaks fluent english. But all in all, I would recommend this hotel to others.
