We stayed in a matrimonial room. The staff is very nice and welcoming. The rooms are clean and well equipped. It is just that the heating is always on and you can not regulate the temperature, so it was hot during the night. The breakfast is a continental one (but ask for an espresso or a cappuccino since the coffee in the bar is not tasty). The surrounding is nice and you can walk in order to visit Piazza Navona, Vatican City, Piazza del Popolo, Via di Corso. Everything is near. There is a metro station (Lepanto) very nearest.

This was our first time in Rome. We will come back some time because Rome is a fantastic city. We will stay at hotel Farnese next time too, because we liked the atmosphere at this old, stilish and nice hotel. We would also like to say thank you to the staff, that were wonderful.

Nice hotel and excellent hospitality . Staff and personnel competent and very available for customers . Give you excellent advises for good restaurants and main places to visit during your stay. I had a problem with my car on departure ( battery unloaded and they did their best in helping me . I got very quickly a garage mechanical and the problem was fixed in a very short time .Situation of the hotel is excellent , close to main sites and you can access to important places just by walking . For distant places the underground station is at two steps from the hotel . For breakfast excellent proposals served in a nice place on the fifth floor ( terrasse ) where the view is nice . At the reception the man is speaking an excellent french ( my mother language ). If we go back to Roma , no doubt that we would stay there another time . I forgot to mention that you can park your car . The parking area is very narrow and small but its free of charge !

Excellent small "old fashioned" hotel very close to the underground. Don't take the economic rooms that are in the basement with few light.

Stayed for 3 nights in May. Had a fantastic stay...rooms were large and airy with really good quality antique furniture which matched the whole ethos of the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived late in the evening and they helped with a nearby trattoria (San Marco's) which was excellent - great food, good price and good atmosphere. When in another country, if the restaurant is full of local people you can tell that it is going to be good and this was no exception. The hotel is very close to Rome's underground and makes a great base for exploring the city. The Vatican is a 15 minutes walk away and there are good shops and restaurants within easy walking distance near the Vatican. Breakfast is pleasant with plenty on offer for most people. The atmosphere is serene with nice views from the terrace overlooking the dome of St Peter's Basilica. I would highly recommend this hotel and if I am ever in Rome again would love to stay there.

A lovely "boutique" hotel, with very helpful and friendly staff. We arrived very late following a delayed flight, Hotel liaised with taxi we had booked and he waited for us. Great service there! The English man on the desk when we arrived however was a bit brusque, very eager for us to take key and get to bed, with very scant directions as to the way to our room and no offer of help with luggage! We stayed in the Junior Suite, very pretty but some attention should be paid to the tiles which are loose at the side of the bath - an eyesore and, I am sure not hygienic! Drawer space would be helpful too, although for our 3 night stay it wasn't too much of a problem. Overall, friendly helpful staff, pretty hotel. A little out of the way, but we knew that when we booked. No kettle in rooms (we took our own), no complimentary water - which is unusual for high standard hotels, and a nuisance when you have arrived at 1.30am and can buy nothing! I wouldn't recommend the Junior Suite for anybody infirm or elderly, you take your life in your hands getting in and out of the bath/shower - it is huge and deep, and there is nothing to hold on to. Overall though, pretty hotel, satisfactory breakfast on a lovely terrace (ask the waitress for a cappuccino - the coffee at the buffet table was awful & tasted of chicory!) and the hotel staff are mostly excellent, and will bend over backwards to help you.

The staff was simply great! They helped with restaurants, directions, bus lines etc... The breakfast was very good (a great spread of eggs, bacon, fruit, cold cuts, cheese, etc) and a view of the St Peter's Cupola to booth. Our room was big enough to acomodate 3 people and had plenty of towels and bedding. The hotel is five minutes walk to the river and the bridge will take you directly into Piazza del Popolo (shopping galore!).

The hotel did not at all look like the photographs we'd seen which looked much more rural than urban and it was very urban. The decoration was good the lifts were terribly small, breakfast was good but location on roof a problem with the lifts. There was no restaurant and meals were only available after much hiking to a restaurant whose food was indifferent, so meals became a major problem. The staff were friendly and the room small but adequate- we had one with a balcony which was near the roof and meant a hike up many stairs- I refused to take the lift.

We read several of the reviews before booking the Hotel Farnese, and we were not disappointed at all. Excellent front desk staff, good location, lovely breakfast terrace. A 2 minute walk to the subway stop Lepanto, therefore good connections to all major sights in Rome. Also not too far to walk to Castel Sant'Angelo etc. We certainly recommend this hotel to other travellers, and we will stay there during our next visit to Rome.

Charming hotel, we spend an excellent time in this hotel but in my opinion the price is oversized in comparison to the number of stars and general services and facilities. one example : industrial orange juice at the breakfast, for the price it could have been fresh juice !!

The Junior Suite was very nice with a spacious bathroom. Excellent staff who are service oriented. The Hotel has the feel of a Great House. The Subway stop LEPANTO is only a block away. A Benchmark on where to stay. An excellent restaurant - Perilli in Prati, approximately four blocks away as you turn left as you exit from the hotel offers value, well prepared meals and great service. The house wine is recommended.

This rating is actually for the sister property, the Hotel Giulio Cesare, as we were transferred there since the Farnese nearby is under renovation. The staff and the hotel were excellent.

We loved the Hotel Farnese. We felt welcome, the reception staff were charming and helpful beyond the call of duty. (Some Irish hotels could learn from them!) We had a junior suite which was lovely, spacious, comfortable, quiet. The location was perfect for walking to many of the major sights and to nice restaurants. We would certainly stay there again. An excellent hotel, very clean, accomodating service, well situated in a quiet neighborhood, well priced. A two block walk from the hop-on/hop-off city tour bus. I would stay again, would strongly recomend for friends & family.

We spent three nights at the Farnese and I can't fault the place at all. Its in a very pleasant quiet neighbourhood but well within walking distance to everything. Room was spacious and immaculate, staff on the desk were very good. 4* hotels in Rome are generally on the pricey side so I'd definitely recommend the Farnese as its about as good value for money as you'll get in Rome. They can also pick you up from the airport (Ciampino in our case) for 50/55 Euros, well worth it. Transfer time is around 40mins.

The hotel was beautiful and in a lovely neighborhood. The staff was welcoming, helpful and delightful. They even arranged for a drive to pick us up from the Airport. We LOVED the real linen sheets and nightly turn down service with Baci on the pillow. Very chic. The room was a little small but makes sense due to the historic nature of the building and neighborhood. It was definitely comfortable. The location was an easy walk to the Vatican and other key sites. The morning breakfast was delightful - and the owner's home harvested honey a special treat. We would definitely stay there again. Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay so much we want to return again! Louis, Allesandra and Andre truly made us feel at home. Everything was as described on the net. Among the various breakfast items were some of our favorites; fresh fruit, delicious cheese, yogurt and TEAPOTS! Location was a real plus as we wanted to be within walking distance to the Vatican and St. Peter's and we were, as well as other areas and shopping. Unfortunately, our initial impression of Farnese, which was excellent, was unofrgettably marred by dysfunctional air-conditioning. The night clerk didn't speak very good English, and so he couldn't understand that I indeed knew how to operate a standard thermostat, but in fact, the air-conditioning for the entire building had stopped working. On the hottest day in July, this was very unfortunate. We spent a sleepless night with the door to the terrace open. Otherwise, the staff were courteous, the breakfast was excellent, and the hotel's accomodations were certainly 4/5 stars.

Wonderful hotel.Very pleasant reception staff. We used the available transportation from the airport and found it very useful especially after a long overseas flight. They met us immediately outside of customs. The rooms were lovely and the linen sheets divine. The breakfast was more that adequate and if you are a fan of capuccino, simply ask for it from the wait staff. I only discovered this on the last day.. We had a great 4 night stay in the hotel. While not right in the centre it was only a ten minute walk across the river to Plaza del Popolo, and while we walked almost everywhere it was great to be right by the tube for easy access across the city. The only let-down at all was the roof terrace which looked cheap and the sides of which were bizarrely enclosed in clear(ish) plastic. Our room was large, nicely decorated and very clean. We will definately recommend it to our friends.

We loved the place. Staying at Farnese meant that we had access to the metro (1 min walking distance), to the Vatican (so we could get up early and not have to wait in long queues) and to Piazza del Popolo (10 mins walking distance). Hotel Farnese arranged a driver pick up from the airport, including a last minute change when a day before Delta said we could fly on a different flight (which was direct instead of one with a layover). When we arrived at the Hotel Farnese we were allowed immediate use of the room so we could get settled, showered and have a nap. Because we had been flying all night (coming from the US) this was wonderful. With other hotels on other trips, I have had to wander the streets during the first day before getting access to the room in the late afternoon. This was much appreciated! After our rest we ate at a neighborhood family restaurant recommended by the Hotel Farnese, Ai Villini. We had insalata mista, minestrone soup, wine and expresso. It was reasonably priced and wonderful. We ate there once each day during our 3 days at the Hotel Farnese. Highly recommended for Roman food at reasonable prices. Great after a long day of sightseeing when you want a good meal and a short walk to the hotel. The hotel's breakfast had bread, tarts, yogurt, cheese, meats and boiled eggs. It was hearty. And the bill, it was less than I expected. The staff was welcoming and attentive. We had the room on the top floor. It had a private balcony. If you want a small, romantic hotel near the Vatican and the Piazza de Popolo, the Hotel Farnese is perfect.

The only issue I encountered was that the quoted room rate was for a junior suite and during the reservation process, a junior suite was not available. At checkin the junior suite was still not available and we received a deluxe double room, but the price was not adjusted. I did not make an issue of this since everything else was so very nice and I figured that the difference in cost was probably insignificant.

Our room was inches away from the elevator, which made it noisy when others arrived or left. The street noise was very loud, the hotel is next to a very busy stree and bus stop. Worst of all, our room STUNK of sewer gas, which according to the management was the result of recent rain. No other room was available the first night and we couldn't even shower the smell was so bad. My husband, who happens to be a physician, felt ill from the fumes. Also, all the hotels we have been to in Italy, dozens, all had a top sheet over the blanket, this one did not. I don't see how this could be a 4 star!

The Hotel Farnese was the most welcoming place. Giovani the front desk was extremely helpfull and the lady( I am sorry I forgot her name) at the Breakfast room wonderfull. I would come back to Farnese at any time and recomend them to all. Thank you Rosani Kowalik P.S. We found the restaurant DitiRambo at Campo de Fiori - It was a great experience.

Great location accessible to the Vatican and bus stops. The staff was reliable and helpful. It was warm and we were told that the AC was not turned on until the summer. A small inconvenience.

Overall it was a very nice place to stay, but there were two small problems: (1) something was wrong with the tap water -- it was very salty and was not clear; (2) the phone line had a noise. These may have been specific to the room I stayed, though.

A very warm welcome was the commencement of a most enjoyable stay. The staff could not have done more to make my stay pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent I would be most happy to stay at the Farnese on any subsequent visit to Rome

An excellent ,quiet and friendly hotel. very slightly expensive; but, worth it all. My wife and daughter enjoyed our Roman holiday before going to Genoa to visit relatives. Would definitely stay there again. Giovanni (desk) was extremely helpful to us.
