The staff we very friendly and extremely helpful and hospitable. We would stay again at this hotel just because of the friendliness of the staff. We were at the hotel 5 days so that we had an opportunity to interact with all the staff.

hotel was easier to locate from train station than I expected. Very pleasantly furnished with everything needed for a short stay in Rome and an early morning departure by train to the airport. Did not get to stay for breakfast because of early departure. Had to climb staircase with suitcase to reach upstairs room which fortunately was worth the effort.

Staff very helpful. Located further from train station than indicted and neighborhood not that great. But we were seldom at the hotel- only to sleep.

Very nice hotel located in an area of transition. Close to the Rome Termini train station, about a 15 minute walk, but not the cleanest area of town. Hotel in need of some repair, but generally very comfortable. Front desk staff friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Front desk staffed 24/7. Would probably stay here again when passing through Rome.

We stayed 5 days in Rome and were pleased with the hotel. Very helpful staff. The rooms overlooking the street are noisy but we could get another room overlooking the garden which was quieter. The surrounding is a typical station surrounding but we felt absolutely safe at all times. Convenient public transportation nearby. Also two good italian restaurants in the vicinity. Overall, a positive impression.

I would stay at Hotel Elyse again, but I would request a room that did not face the street--the traffic noise from the street sounded like it was right in the room! Other than that, I enjoyed my stay there. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The room we stayed in was spacious and quiet. Although the breakfast was on the sweeter side, I figure I need the extra calories if I am going to sight-see all day long. Breakfast was served by a very nice lady and she made us fresh coffee, which really helped get our day started. The staff was really nice and helped us find information for everything we needed from locating laundry service to finding how TerraVision worked. The neighborhood can be a bit of a shock if you came from a clean place like Amsterdam, like we did, but it is mainly an immigrant/business area so it is pretty safe to walk around even late into the night. Tagging/graffiti is everywhere; it is just something you have to get used to in Rome. There are great places to eat dinner in the San Lorenzo neighborhood near Via dei Latini. When you are exiting the Metro as the hotel direction suggest make sure you take the Mamiami (sp?), cause we got off on the other side of Vittorio EmanueleII plaza and had to walk around with our luggage, not fun.

This was our first trip to Roma, It was quite the experience. The staff at the hotel was very helpful, and very nice. (its hard to find nice helpful people in Italy). The hotel was very close to the termini, not in a very good neighborhood. The breakfast that they served was alright, they had yogurt, and some crossiants and buns, and had juice and coffee. That was the only thing served in the hotel. The only thing we found wrong with the hotel was very thin walls, and the shower was very touchy and small. But over all was great. we would go back to this hotel.

Nice, family run hotel just a short walk away from the main train station. Staff were friendly and spoke good English, rooms were clean and spacious. The surrounding area isn't very nice but is perfectly safe, even for solo travellers.

Very friendly staff in this nice hotel close to Termini railway station. Good quality breakfast if you like a sweet breakfast, and excellent coffee. Room cleaned everyday. My room had quite some noise from the traffic (trams, etc.) if you open the window, but I like that. Will come back here.

The hotel is very close to Termini station (about 5-7 minutes), it's very easy to find it using the map even if you are the first time in Rome; room is a bit dark and during the night we heard men's voices and noise of cars on the street; Elyse provides usual continental breakfast..quite ok! The hotel is ok to spens 1-2 nights...

The staff at the Hotel Elysè were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel met my expectations. The hotel is easily accesssible- very near to the red metro line in Rome and a 5-10 minute walk to Termini- the major central train station in Rome. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for very reasonable rates, value for money, and a warm personal welcome.

A value for money hotel. We got a good deal. The hotel employees were really nice and welcoming. The hotel was very clean, but a bit shabby. Breakfast was much too sweet for our taste. Hot dog buns, no eggs or cheese. Suits to travelers who need a nice, clean hotel room, but spend the day exploring the city. Although hotel's neighborhoods were Rome's Chinatown and railway station area, we had no trouble in the streets.

This was our first stay at Hotel Elyse. The staff was very friendly and inviting, and spoke english fluently for those who don't speak italian with confidence. The location was very practical having the train station within a few minutes walk, there is also a grocery store at the station which is very convenient. Nothing fancy about the rooms, but they are clean and comfortable and are perfect if you just need a place to sleep. A great deal for a hotel in Rome!

If you are looking a budget hotel with close proximity to the termini then this is ideal - we used it as a good base having been to Rome before and having a knowledge of things just wanted somewhere central and within walking distance to the termini. No faults with this hotel.
New Zealand, Oct 2008
The hotel was lovely but there is no lift so you need to be able to manage a flight of stairs. It was easier to just walk from the main train station. There were some less desirable areas around the hotel but a couple of blocks away was just fine. Not really an issue.

Its shabbiness, worn out and stained carpets both in bedroom and common areas. Very very poor breakfast; awful coffee, bread and jam is fine but it should be good bread, not synthetic tasting awful bread. On a positive note the reception staff (met two) very friendly and helpful.

the hotel was near the main rail station so easy to get to but was affected by noise from the trains and also the tram station just accross the road. the hotel itself could do with a makeover as the carpets and decoration are worn. the staff we met were very friendly and even though i speak only a little italian they did their utmost to help with any queries i had.the room was cleaned eveery day and the bed linen was also changed daily, the breakfast available was always the same coffee, juice, pastries and assorted jams and whilst not that exciting did provide enough to get you going in the morning.the area the hotel is in can seem intimidating but we never felt threatened even late at night.we walked to all the sites in rome from the hotel but if you need to there are two metro stations within 800m that can get you to most of the main sites.there are plenty of places to eat nearby but the best we found was the trattoria cecio on via principe amedeo about a five minute walk away, the food was very good and the two young guys waiting on were by far the most friendliest waiters we came accross in rome.

The hotel is located next to the railway and tram facilities so it makes the hotel very noisy. It must have been a beautiful hotel years ago but now needs substantial cleaning (curtains, carpets, etc.). We have spent 11 nights and each day the same breakfast was served (coffe or tea, sweet croissant, hot dog sandwich, orange juice, butter, bananas, peaches or apples, joghurts, and some packed sweets). The hotel's advantage was it's very good location, close to the metro stations and some touristic atractions.

We were three friends from Malta visiting Rome for the first time and travelling on ourselves with no guided tour for the first time. We found ourselves very comfortable in this Hotel, to say the thruth it was more than we've expected. The area is more like a Chinatown or Indian Town but it's not the case to get alarmed. Hotel very close to the main Train station Termini. Above all staff of Hotel is very, very friendly indeed and you will find yourself very welcome. Hotel is excellent for postion, price and service. Good value for money. Well done Venere.com. Oh, 1 last thing. Please EAT WHERE THE ROMANS EAT!! Try Zio Ciro near Spanish Steps, very good food at a normal price.

The hotel is really close to the train station which is great. Also a good location to move around in Rome. Staff really nice, but somehow they always left just one big towel for the shower and one toilet paper, although there were two of us and we had to ask for another towel every day. The room was clean but the air conditioning did not work very well. Pretty noisy in the night because of traffic, but maybe that's just Rome.

On s'y sent bien ! J'y retournerais !

The Hotel is well located in the area of Stazione Termini. When I arrived the girl in the reception gave me a map of Rome with all the informations I needed about the bus and metro stations. Our first visit to Rome so we chose a spot near the Termini, which is not the best area. The room was clean and certainly acceptable. The staff was very helpful, even not charging us for a reserved night when we informed them -ahead of time that we missed a flight. Shower pressure was marginal, furnishings spartan, but good firm beds.

Though the interior is tired and in need of updating, the hotel was very clean. Reception is open 24 hours and the staff are always very friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent for public transport and therefore convenient for the whole of the city. The area around the hotel is typical of the surroundings of a railway station which could be intimidating at night but we did not experience any problems at all.

We were 8 persons, age 8 - 70. Our stay at Elyse was really a good choice. The hotel is small, friendly, like a home, quiet. The service we got during the week was also very service minded and friendly. We sure want to recommend this hotel for both families, groups and couples. The location nearby Trevini (station) was perhaps not the best from the surroundings point of view, but on the other hand it was very easy to use the public transport and many sights very even on a walk distance.

A great location, doesn't matter that the surroundings look a bit dirty, if you are in Rome you shouldn't be staying in your hotel much anyway! There is so much to do, get the Roma Pass for 20 euro it's worth it. We stayed for 5 nights, staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast is minimal and sweet but it's enough to get you going and you can take fruit with you for later. The hotel could do with a redecorate but it is very clean.

This hotel is nothing spectacular however, the rooms are quaint and clean and perfect for resting your head after a long day in beautiful Rome and the staff is ready to assist you 24 hours a day, providing you with good advice and a welcoming smile. (I even called to double check which bus I could take on my way back from town). The neighborhood in which the hotel is located is not too clean and seems very intimidating and 'unsafe', but I assure you that it is not. All it is, is just not very pretty on the eyes. Just walk a few blocks in any direction away from the Hotel and you will find yourself in cleaner surroundings. Rome is very large and many immigrants are making their way to the large city (most of them set up shop in the hotel neighborhood). Don't worry about them, they are there to make a living not to rob you or harm you. This hotel is within blocks from one major train station (which provides direct train service to Fiumicino Airport) and the underground metro ,which took us everywhere we needed to go on days that it rained and we didn't feel like walking. It is also close to many bus lines. And if you do feel like walking, you can do that too, just make sure you are wearing comfy shoes. As you would when traveling anywhere, always be aware and cautious of your surroundings and look over your shoulders from time to time. I would go back to Elyse` in a heart beat unless of course I came in to some major cash and could afford one of the 5-star hotels in Piazza di Spagna! Until then, spend wisely, you are going to need it while in Italia.

The front desk guy welcoming us bearly spoke English. But the front desk lady the next day speaks well enough and she is helpful. A pity they do not know WiFi's password. This hotel was excellent value for money. It's no luxury 5 star hotel but it was very clean and nicely decorated and the staff were brilliant. I was fully expecting a run down 2* hotel but was more than plesantly suprised! It was actually better than some 3 and 4* hotels I have stayed in. Would definitely stay again. Don't be put off by the area either, we were 3 girls travelling together and didn't have any problems, and taxi's into the centre were around 12 Euros.

Although the surrounding is not that great it is however quite handy for people who gets to Rome by train and arrive in Termini station (just 10/15 minutes walk). The room where we stayed was large and nice as well as the toilet facility. They both had large windows. The hotel is very clean and tidy and has a nice atmosphere. They changed our towels and sheets every day. The staff was extremely nice and kind. One day although we were very late for breakfast they served it all the same just for the three of us (my boyfriend, a friend of mine and myself). They suggested places where to eat and gave us other useful information.

Room was very nice and wide, but very noisy because of the street traffic, maybe rooms on the other side of the corridor are more quite. Breakfast needs to be improved: only sweet stuffis served. The position of the hotel is good : just a few meters far from P.zza Vittorio tube station and however many of the most important historic places may be reached with a walk. The hotel is located in the heart of Chinatown. surroundings are a bit dirty and untidy.

Excellent place. The location is great for touristing. Restaurants near by. The atention is great also, remember to ask them for information about routes of buses in Rome, they will explain you a small tour over the center that you can do with public transport. Only downs could be that the room was very small and not fancy. Breakfast is very simple also. If you don't mind about those little points the place is excellent and comfortable, plus a GREAT price with a GREAT location and service.

The hotel is quite close with the railway station, less than 10 minutes by walk. Just go alone the street by the railway station, the hotel is at the corner. The hotel actually locates in China town but is quite close to major sites. About 15 minutes walk, and you can see the colossal. Room is simple and old but the reception is quite warm and nice. In the store nearby you can by a big water with 0,60 cents which would be 2 euros in downtown. The room is quite if not for the sound of flush of the next door.

Welcoming staff, very helpful. The room was quite spacious and had all the necessary items and services, and was physically clean although smelt of old cigarette smoke. The hotel generally appears a little shabby and timeworn, although this is not a major distraction. The bathroom was very clean and quite luxurious. Slightly noisy due to being on a busy corner, but this seems to be a common problem in the big Italian cities and should not prejudice the establishment.

Rooms have been OK. Price/quality relation from acceptable to OK. Employees were cooperative and polite, most of them competent. The room we had was clean and quiet. The breakfast-buffet was somewhat poor for guests used with Central-European Hotels. The imediate neighbourhood was disappointing.Only chinese and indian shops. The walking distance to public transportation (Metro , Tram at Piazza V.Emanuele)was somewhat longer, about 500m, then we took it from the Map shown in the description. There are two Buss stations closed to the Hotel (Buss 70 and 71) but the busses arrive rarely and irregularly.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Elyse. After we struggled a little to find it, (more my map reading fault!) we found it to be a very pleasant little place. Only downsides were the walk to and from it, the area smells and frankly is not very nice, but once at the hotel it's all good. Although, the walls are a bit thin, we were woken everytime someone else flushed their toilet! Other than that, the staff were excellent and friendly, courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, bathrooms were great. Recommended!

If it weren't for the bathroom and the location this place would have been perfect. The staff at breakfast was just lovely, and the breakfast itself was equally so. The lobby and the room were charming and comfortable and the lady that received us at check in was the nicest Roman woman I met during our stay in Rome. It's close to the station which was convenient on arrival and departure... but late at night it wasn't the most desirable of areas. Beware of walking next to the station late at night, we almost got robbed (though you could be robbed anywhere in the city). The room was very refreshing, comfortable, and well equipt but the shower was a bit smallish and the drain seemed to have an issue or two.... We really enjoyed this place though. Wish we could've stayed here all four nights of our stay (it was only available the last two).

Location is sort of grimy roman chinatown, but the hotel and its employees will make up for that. Nice clean hotel, courteous and helpful personnel, breakfast OK. Few hundreds metres walking from Termini Station, even closer to its Air Terminal. Definitely good relationship between price and quality. Not many hotels offer a double room for less than 70 euros in Rome and, I must add, some structures charging twice as much aren't any better :)

I was pleasantly welcomed on my arrival. This was particularily appreciated as it was my first time in Rome and my Italian is limited. A smile cuts through all language barriers. I found the staff to be quite helpful and friendly during my stay. The room was fine and spacious enough for my needs. The bathroom appeared brand new and matched any in North America. The hotel lobby and the halls were a bit worn, but fine. I selected the hotel for it,'s location close to the train station and this made it quite convenient. I walked to most major sites, which was a bit of a distance, but doable. Overall, I felt the hotel offered good convenience and value for accommodation in Rome and would recommend it to others.

The room was very clean and hotel personnel very welcoming. The surroundings were not so neat, although we had no problems (only they were poorly cleaned and mantained!) All hotels on Rome are too much expensive, the relationship between price/quality is poorer than in Spain, but taking this into account, Elysee is a good hotel.

The staff was very friendly. When we came a lady showed us a map and told us what we should see in Rome and how to get there. The room was clean but a little bit dark. The bathroom was good. The breakfast was fruit, coffee, juice, bisquites and yoghurt. The hotel was locaded near the Termini station. The area was not so nice. On the evenings we took the bus to other better areas with nice sqares with restaurantes.

The location is great if you're coming straight from the airport by train because this terminal is further back. But overall, the location was not very central. It was a bit of a walk to get to various tourist sites. I would pay a little bit more for a more central location. The room was clean, but the bed mattress was hard.

L'hotel est assez bien excepté la propreté du tapis plein de l'escalier et des couloirs. Pour la propreté des chambres, il n'y a aucun problème. Le petit déjeuner n'était pas très bon et pas très copieux. C'est le seul inconvénient majeur.

The Hotel is located in Central Rome only 3-4 blocks from the Railway Station. It is possible to walk to many of the attractions. We walked to the Colloseum in 20 minutes. There are two bus routes within 3 blocks of the Hotel. The Leonardo Express from the airport brought us to the Railway station. The double room was big enough for the two of us, clean and quiet, with a view of the gardens in the back. The owner spoke English and was very helpful in us having a good stay in Rome. I recommend this Hotel as it is secure and pleasant. The Continental Breakfast was very good.

MY FIANCEE AND I RECENTLY VISITED ROME AND STAYED AT THIS HOTEL. I AM FROM AMERICA SHE IS FROM ROMANIA AND BOTH OF US WERE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED BY GETTING WHAT WAS ADVERTISED. THE ROOM WAS GREAT,SPACIOUS,COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN INCLUDING THE BATH-SHOWER. ABOVE ALL THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS A REAL BLESSING AS THE WEATHER IN ROME WAS HOT IN JULY. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HOTEL AND WE SHALL STAY THERE AGAIN. THE STAFF IS VERY NICE AND MADE US FEEL VERY WELCOME...BRAVO ELYSE!!!

Great place. The hotel was exactly as described. Quiet and clean, with a friendly family staff, some of which speak good English. The room are individually air-conditionned. The breakfast is good, with additionnal goodies like yogurt, cornetto, "muffins" to pick in addition to what's served. The location near Termini may not be the greatest in Rome, but you're close enough of the metro station in Termini or even better Vittorio Emmanuelle (line A) to move around easily. We would definitely return there should the oportunity arise.

Although the staff was very friendly there, we found the rooms quite small for the pricing and quite a walk from the termini also the road in front was very busy.. lots of traffic all night long... breakfast simple. would probably not recommend for the pricing.
