The hotel is well-situated in that it is across from a bus stop (so you can travel by bus around the city if you'd like), across from a park (so at least some rooms look out onto trees)and a short walk to the Spanish Steps. Our room was pretty cramped- our two kids had beds in what was basically a hallway that led from our room to the bathroom. It also smelled of smoke, which either was from a former occupant or from people out on the sidewalk. You might want to ask for a non-smoking room and/or one higher than the second floor to avoid this. This might also help with the noise of the fairly busy street. There are people talking and trucks and buses making a fair amount of noise in the morning. The breakfast was much better than almost every other place we stayed in Italy, and was served in a beautiful room on the top floor with a great view of tree- and roof-tops. We had a beer once at the bar but didn't eat dinner there- we never saw people in the bar or restaurant in our three nights there.

Very good location, most places can be visited on foot. The hop on hop of bus stops in front of the hotel. Furniture and bathroom are quite old but very clean. The shower is very small but has a good waterpressure even on the 5th floor. For Rome the room was very quiet and has excellent blend-outs. Unfortunately the bed was very, very hard and the pillows are like contreat. The breakfastroom has a breathtaking view. Breakfast on a 1-10 scale is aplprox 6. The bartender is very friendly and can recommend nice restaurants. Many restaurants in walking distance. Good shopping close by.

Fantastic location, opposite the park and 10 minutes walk from the Spanish Steps. Views from the breakfast room were panoramic and impressive. Staff were helpful. The only problem we encountered were very thin walls. We heard every word our neighbours spoke, which woke us up and kept us awake. Saying that overall, we were happy with the hotel and its location and would stay there again.

Our third visit to this property in 4 years, it's sinking steadily. Badly needs a refresh, room cleaning is superficial, and things like light switches haven't been cleaned since the day they were installed. Breakfast staff cut from two to one person with the result that breakfast service has simply disintegrated. But for the money it's decent enough - we did come back twice, though this is our last visit. Our last night after a long day in Rome there was no water in the hotel. We were facing a 15 hour flight home the next day, but were assured there'd be water the next morning. There wasn't. We packed, skipped breakfast, checked out immediately and were presented a full bill. Uh no, demanded refund of the last night. We checked into the Hotel Splendide down the street for 3 hours. Cost for a night was €90 more per night, but the difference was dramatic. If you are on a budget, then better to book some hotel removed from the center, but near a subway station rather than tolerate the Eliseo simply for its admittedly superb location. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the Spanish Steps to the Eliseo, time which could be spent traveling to some hotel that cares about its property. We don't know if other hotels in this chain are the same, but we're not going to try to find out. Would you?

We travel often and pay extra attention when choosing our hotel. I generally trust Venere's review but this time Hotel Eliseo was over our expectations. Excellent location, every spot accessible within a few minutes walk (and we travel with children) and lovely surroundings with alot of excellent choises for dinner (suggested by the hotel stuff which I generally don't trust), lovely breakfast room with amazing view, nice and tidy rooms, very acceptable public areas in the hotel and very helpful front desk staff( we had a taxi booked for a day trip to Pompei in half the price we had first found). In a few words we had excellent quality for the price we payed. I strongly recommend it and look forward to our next visit.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was well looked after and very clean. We had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed meeting Santini, the resident Bar tender who was extremely helpful and a lovely warm character. Whilst there was a little bit of noise from the road outside this did not detract from our enjoyment and Euro willing we would love to return at some stage in the future.

Fantastic Location, in the nicest area of the city - off Via Veneto. Amazingly large family room - 505. Best deal in Europe..otherwise the standard rooms are very small, European standard. Wonderful breakfast room, view of the Vatican. This was my 3rd stay at Hotel Eliseo...I highly recommend it.

Good, rooms are well insulated from noise but are quite small... The TV system is quite old and not working properly; the bidet was not properly anchored to the floor, and the water jet was too strong. Exceptional breakfast room.

HOtel is situated in an excellent place, the quietness of the rooms is very good, because the windows can to be shut close. air conditioning is okay. Sightseeing could be done by foot directly from the hotel, the Metro station is within 50 m from the hotel, breaktfast is poor but the sight from the breakfast romm on the top of the hotel is great! St. Peter, vatican city, the garden of the Villa Borghese directly in front. Staff is very friendly and helpful, they all speak a very good English, bar keeper mixed drinks very good, price is okay. It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel for 5 days, even if the rooms need to be renovated. Manuela

This Hotel is excellent! Thank you Venere for a great service provided, I will recommend your website as well as this hotel to everyone I know going to Europe. As agreed, we were not charged until we left the hotel, the staff is friendly and gave us, and all the quests directions on how to get around in Rome. It is on a walking distance to all the important plazas.

My wife and I didn't know what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely cordial, accomodating and professional which was important to us in our first visit to Rome. The room and bathroom were larger than expected (but we were not in Rome for the hotel room). The breakfast very good and the view outstanding from the terrace. A great way to start the day. After touring for the week, we found the hotel location not to be beat and were able to walk practically everywhere. Did take a bus to the Vatican since the first bus stop is at the hotel and was only 1Euro.

The hotel rooftop view is fabuluous. The breakfast is fine and the staff is as friendly as they can.The only thing is the hotel is far away from a metro station, you have to walk nearly 10 min to reach a metro station. In anyway, the view during your braekfast worth it.And also the area of the hotel is very elite. And my last review is about the elevators, they are so small for the luggages.

Eccezionale la vicinanza con i mezzi pubblici elettrici che consentono di entrare nel cuore di Roma. Hotel Eliseo is situated in a fabulous location for walking to shopping and tourist sites, as well as having access to parking/pick up, since most of the center of Rome prohibits vehicles. The terrace was lovely to view the Borghese Gardens and the Vatican while eating breakfast. However, while the hotel has tastefully renovated the bathrooms, the bedrooms and corridors defintely need upgrading. The classic decor is what was popular 20 years ago. All in all, our five-day stay was very pleasant.

Hotel Eliseo seems the best choice of all these very moderate quality, 100-150 euro per single room priced hotels in the centre of Rome. Let's not forget that most of these hotels are overpriced for the quality they provide, so lets forget the price. Otherwise there are 2 big bonuses for Hotel Eliseo: 1) very good breakfast; Eliseo rates 4 stars, but all is 3 stars (ok, but also costs as 3 stars)except for breakfast that is really good; 2) a great breakfast room with a breathtaking view over park and the whole Rome. Believe me, this is so good that it makes it worth choosing this hotel from the range of other similar hotels. About location - it is good, because it is in the centre, quite close to metro - about 6-8 minutes if you are young and go fast, next to the park and to the famous Via Veneto. It's not so good if you are not fit or have baby trolley or luggage, because hotel is on a hill and walking to it from metro can take longer and be more difficult. Elevators are too small for baby carryers, but there still are 2 elevators. Rooms are renovated, but during my four day stay the carpet was never vacuumcleaned. TV has only Italian programms and broadcasting quality was not the best. However, due to the friendly staff I was lucky to get an update for the nicest room in the whole hotel - on the top with a small terrace with wonderful view, and it had bath, and that room was bigger. So I was happy for the view, and didn't mind the dirtyness and TV much. Anyway there are much better things to see in Rome than TV! Conclusion - it's worth to choose this hotel if you need to stay in this price-range.

My girlfriend and I had planned to stay 2 nights at the Hotel but were delaying by a day as our flight from London was grounded in Paris Friday evening. The Hotel didn't charge for the Friday night and actually upgraded our room for the sat night - which was a great suite (Room 506!). The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful - our baggage had been lost in transit and the man who worked the evening shift phoned through the airline on various occassions trying to sort out the issue whilst we spent our time visiting Rome. The hotel is extremely close to the Spanish steps - just slightly up the hill. Most of Rome is easily accessible by foot but there are other hotels more closely located to the main squares. That said i would thoroughly reccommend this hotel to anyone looking for a weekend break to Rome as i am sure you will not be dissapointed. The views from the hotel Roof Terrace where breakfast is served is wonderful and not to be missed

We stayed 5 nights in October and found the reception staff friendly and efficient. The bar was open every night except for one, when the barman was ill. He told us he had worked at Hotel Eliseo for over 20 years and was very helpful with advice about what to see and do in Rome. The view of the Vatican from the breakfast room was as good as I hoped it would be. I recommend that you visit the roof terrace at sunset. Our room was rather small and the shower holder and loo seat were damaged. The main disappointment was the lack of restaurant, especially as the breakfast room has such good views, and did serve dinner at one time. A friend told us about it but he stayed there about 20 years ago. He probably met the same barman! There are plenty of restaurants nearby - we liked Ascot in the next street, Via Lazio 22, where they serve produce fresh from their organic farm.

At one time, about 50 years ago, I'm sure thisw was a beautiful hotel but I have no doubt they have not spent one dime upgrading/refurbishing the hotel since the day it was opened. It's too bad because the location is nice but the hotel is very very very run down. It is not worth the money.

Great location (direct access to city centre, just a few steps away) and superb view over S. Peter and the Villa Borghese park from the breakfast hall on the top floor. Rooms could be cleaner... especially toilets which need some renovating. On the first night we asked the reception desk for a suggestion on reasonable restaurants "not for tourists" in the surroundings. We were directed to a brasserie round the corner belonging to the hotel itself, where we felt we were nearly the only Italians guests - and I can't say food was that good and cheap (so so and expensive). Eliseo's price-quality rate is however interesting considering the location. In principle I would suggest staying there (with reserves for those whith high expectations and needs).

Adequate reception, just. No porterage for luggage.Room safety deposit box was out of order and hotel did not bother to fix it.Bar only open from 5 pm if one specific barman turns up (which he did not on 2 days). No afternoon beverages available, not even tea.The only redeeming feature of the establishment was the buffet breakfast room which is on the top floor and has great views of ST.Peter's.The buffet breakfast itself was no better than most and worse than some. This hotel is certainly not a 4 star establishment as it claims to be. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Requested, and received, rooms with sitting areas. Clean, neat and generally quite comfortable. Would suggest requesting upper floors, as our floor (1) was very noisy when we had our windows open. Welcome was extremely cold. We almost changed hotels, based solely on the very cold welcome we recevied. Absolutely no offer to assist with luggage or sites. We had to ask. What saved the "service component" was the very amiable and helpful bartender, Santino. What a charming man, and a wondeful "host" for the hotel. Strongly suggest you look him up and enjoy his well stocked, albeit small salon bar. Location is good, near Spanish Steps -- walkable to everything. Try a stroll in the Borghese Gardens across the street (outside the walls). Very pleasant. We would consider staying again at the Eliseo, now that our expectations have been balanced. Upper floors a must. Breakfast from the upper terrace dining room is quite nice. Ask Santino to take you up at night for a magnificent view of the lights of Rome.

The star rating in Italy would appear to be inconsistent with elsewhere in Europe. I would rate the hotel as a good three star hotel. The hotel itself is well located and close to some excellent restaurants on Via Veneto and there is a handy subway link to the Spagna metro station. The hotel rooms were comfortable and the breakfast good and complimented by a spectacular view across Rome. The staff were helpful and provided useful local information. I would recommend this hotel with good value for money and comfort.

Based on the numerous positive reviews on venere of Hotel Eliseo my fiance and I decided to stay for a few nights to give us a change of scenery while spending a week in Rome. I knew we'd experience somewhat of a shock as we were stepping down from a 5 star luxury hotel to a 4 star, but our stay at the Eliseo makes me question the value of the star system, since Eliseo fell so far below our expectations. To summarize: The initial room we were given smelled like an ashtray. After an uncomfortable discussion with the manager we were given another room that merely smelled like a chemical spill (due to recent cleaning, presumably). This room did not have a bathtub. After walking around Rome all day not having a bathtub to soak in is depressing. The room was small and shabby; stains adorned the carpet and wallpaper and furniture. The bed seemed to be constructed of rock from a nearby roman quarry. Beds on the whole are a little firm in Italy (as a taxi driver explained to me, they feel it is better for the bones) but the Eliseo beds were difficult to sleep on even after hiking exhaustion! Our stay wasn't all negative. Breakfast was wonderful and the restaurant provided a stunning view. A taxi stand was right on the building corner, and many upscale restaurants and shops were only a block away. The best thing about our stay at the Eliseo was that after the experience we immediately upgraded our remaining hotels for the rest of our two week trip to 5 star luxury quality. The rest of our vacation was wonderful. Thank you Eliseo for scaring us away from four star hotels!

A very nice hotel, optimal placed near the center, not far away from the subway or bus stations. Room was little bit small, but this seems to be normal for Rome - as well as the breakfast, that was ok, for Italian conditions, but could be improved (especially the replenishment at later times). Impressive breakfast room. There is a nice bar, placed at the lounge, but be carefull, high price level, also for Roman conditions.

The hotel was not quite as I´d expected, in the photos it seemed to be in better condition. However, the room was spacious and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Wouldn´t recommend staying on the 7th floor - the lift only goes to the 6th and then you have to carry your suitcase up a narrow, steep staircase and the two rooms up there had a slight smell of mould. The hotel is also at the top of a hill, but if you don´t mind a bit of a walk then it is fine and the views of the park are lovely. The hotel is in a fairly expensive area, so bear that in mind when you think about having dinner before going up the hill.

Hotel Eliseo was a perfect fit for our visit to Rome. Located at the top of Via Veneto, it was in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to buses and the Metro. The surrounding area has some good restaurants. The morning breakfast on the 6th floor was ample and has a great view of the Vatican. The people at the hotel were very helpful and arranged several activities for us. We think that the Hotel Eliseo was a great value and will definitely recommend staying there to anyone.

We had a wonderful time at the Eliseo when we finally found it, driving from Florence. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge who drove us to the airport for a measly 50 euros! He was full of information about the history of Rome and told us of many places to visit. the hotel is around the corner from Harry's Bar and many other splendid restaurants. Ask the whereabouts of the local supermarket - it stocks great food and wine for an in-room meal.

We really love staying at the Eliseo. The location is ideal: Take a right out of the door, you're on the Via Veneto; a left, and you're on your way down to the Spanish Steps. Right across the street is Borghese Gardens. The breakfast room is at the top of the hotel so you can look out over Rome as you drink your coffee. Santino in the bar and the people at the front desk are very helpful and eager to do everything they can to make your stay a good one. Our only disappointments this time were (1) that our room so small you couldn't walk around the bed without bumping into furniture and the shower was extremely strange and (2) that the maid was a little careless. A glass tumbler that we used our first night sat in the same place the entire time we were there. However, these things are not enough to discourage us from recommending the Eliseo or from staying there again.

If only the staff at fron desk would recomend the right service or restuarant...not where they get some commission. Was not happy with the tour they recomended and also the restuarant.

Excellent location, definitely take a cab from the metro stop, especially if you are arriving in the summer. A Taxi ride to the Termini Station was around 20 Euro for two people. The staff was very welcoming and offering wonderful restaurants, organizing day trips, and making sure that we felt comfortable. Close to all the great sites, we walked to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Colisseum both during the day and at night. Definitely will stay here again and reccomend to our friends. Breakfast was excellent with a beautiful view of the city.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Eliseo. The location was good for me since it is only a short walk to everything the centre of Rome has for the serious tourist. The bar and lounge I found a great place to meet people - I was travelling alone - and in my short time at the hotel, I met an American family group who took me out to dinner at their expense. Loved every minute of my stay there and the staff were always very helpful. I will be staying there later this year again.

We had 2 rooms, one of them was very spacious (505). We had only one problem: it was cold weather at the beginning of March. We asked for heating and the employees have done their best - but it was not enough. Anyway Rom is wonderful for the eyes and for the stomach too, we would like return more time - but please tell me when "legge Sirchia" is over.

The staff were very gracious, helpful. Santino, in the bar was wonderful and made terrific recommendations for dinner and places to go. Breakfast buffet was outstanding; location was perfect. The rooms were somewhat small, but that is typical of European boutique hotels. I asked for a larger room and was accommodated with no problem and no extra charge. Again, the staff is very helpful.

The rooms are very small but clean. They could be refurbished as they are in the 70s style. Location is very good - directly around Via Veneto and in a walk distance to Piazza di Spagna and Fontana di Trevi. The look over the city from the breakfast room in the 6th floor is fabulous.

We really enjoyed our stay at Eliseo. The breakfast room on the 6th floor had terrific views of the Vatican and Rome generally. All sites were in walking distance, an electric bus opposite the hotel takes you to the vatican. The open top tour bus runs from Via Venetto and that's how we got to the colesseum.Lovely night time walks through the Borgese Park with wonderful view over Piazza Popolo and good local restuarants nearby eg Bacco behind eliseo.Supermarket in subway going to spanish steps. The hotel did have a water problem on our last day but we think that was just unfortunate.Rooms a bit small but we had a balcony over park which made up for that.Bathroom good, all clean.Great city, Great time.

The staff was wonderful. We had requested a 5th floor room with a view as we were on our honeymoon. We got exactly what we requested, with a beautiful view from our balcony overlooking the Borghese gardens! Our only complaint was the bed. It was extremely hard with 3/4 inch plywood under the twin matresses, linking them into a king bed. Uncomfortable doesn't begin to describe it. In general, all the upholstered furniture in the Eliseo needs updating. However, everything else was outstanding. The location was great, the rooftop breakfast room is breathtaking, and we'd definitely recommend it and stay again.

Nice friendly atmosphere in a quieter part of Rome. We requested in advance and were given on arrival a room on the top floor. Nice views over the Borghese and towards the Vatican.

Great location- across from Borgese Gardens and short walk to Spanish Steps- use underground mall route that we discovered on our last day. Convenient and inexpensive electric bus stop right across street from hotel that went anywhere in the city and to the Vatican. Nice bar and public area- very nice breakfast room and food on the sixth floor- great view of the city. Street side room was noisy with the windows open but it was tolerable- can close heavy shutters for quiet. Overall a nice place.

The hotel is ok; but the rooms need a repair and the single rooms are very small. The best is the place where the hotel is located.

Received a very nice welcome from the porter Alfonso who ensured that our room was to our satisfaction. He was a very friendly person right through our stay. The room was very clean and the breakfast room on the sixth floor overlooking the city was spectacular. The hotel was a quiet haven away from the crowded city.

As you can see from my ratings I did enjoy my stay at the Eliseo. The hotel was recommended to me by a work colleague. I requested a single room with a high floor and a view (in high season, a request that I thought would be laughed at... I was absolutely amazed that my request was granted. The room (dbl) was lovely (very clean) with a balcony and a beautiful view of the Villa Borghese (lots of greenery). My room was very quite and it was a bonus to be able to open the double doors to the balcony and hear Rome by night. Breakfast (included) was ample and came with a view of St Peters in the near distance. The Eliseo is in a great location in a lovely part of Rome; the Via Veneto around the corner, a short stroll to the Spanish Steps and to the Trevi Fountain. I cannot recommend the Eliseo highly enough... It was a memorable stay that topped off a great holiday. I have already had two family friends book rooms for there upcoming holidays. **The restaurant (or breakfast room) doesn't cater for lunch, dinner or room service... you soon realise that they are doing you a favour, making you get out and enjoy Rome with the Romans!!!

We were facing to the street so it was noisy. Unfortunately the airconditioner was broken for the first day. But It should have been checked out prior to the guest arrival. It was warm we wanted the airconditioner.

The Breakfast room badly needs updatingDirty Curtains. Rodent droppings in Cereal. Proscuitto and cheese looked stale. Their Torino Hotel had better Breakfast variety. Staff at Eliseo Front Desk was nice, Breakfast waitress is overworked she could use an assistant, she maintained a pleasant attitude. Too much smoke from adjacent rooms. Overall a nice location.

I was very disappointed from the beginning of our stay. The gentlemen at the front desk all were very lacking in warmth or graciousness. You felt as if they were only tolerating you. I had made an early request for a particular side of the building but was not accommodated-not even an acknowledgement of my request was made. Once in the room, there was a chemical smell of what we imagined was a disinfectant that took hours to clear. Our hotel room was on the street side and therefore continuous traffic noise was heard at all hours. The only favorable aspect of this property was the view from the breakfast room. I would never stay nor ever recommend this hotel.

We were traveling with our 2 teenage sons and our 2 year old child. The hotel gave us a nice, clean portable crib for our toddler free of charge. When we arrived at the hotel, we were disappointed at the size of our room, because we had no room to move with the crib and all our luggage. The staff was very understanding and moved us to a much more spacious room. Both our room and the twin room for our teens were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. The location is wonderful - on top of Via Veneta and across the street from the beautiful park Borgese. It's also a short walk to the Spanish Steps and the subway (which we used to travel all over Rome). They served a lovely breakfast (except for the coffee, which was the worst we had in Italy) and the view from the breakfast room was breathtaking. I don't know if I'd call it a 4 star hotel, but it's a lovely, well situated hotel that I would definately recommend and return to.

Room a little worn looking but clean, had pre arranged an airport car with the hotel and everything was done as requested, also had asked for a 5th floor room and this was also done, competant staff, location good, central to lots of sights and a €10 taxi ride gets you anywhere you want to go.

The room was "tired" and badly in need of renovation. There was a damp patch on the wall and ceiling which grew and receded depending, I suspect, upon the ablutions taking place in the room above. I complained about the damp patch on arrival and was told it was one of the better rooms on that floor. We were shown another room. No damp patch, but much smaller. The barman was great. The breakfast and view from the breakfast room was good. Overall we feel we have been ripped off. This is not a four star hotel in the UK sense, more like one star, or less.
