This hotel is in an extremely noisy location. The hotel is not 200-300 meters to the train station. It is up the road but better directions should be provided. The room is spacious enough but the bathroom is very small and the shower is tiny. If you drop the soap you will have to open the shower door to bend down to pick it up. I would not return to this hotel. Breakfast was sufficient and the upstairs patio was nice.

We enjoyed our stay at The Doria. The location near the Termini allowed us to access transportation to various sites. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fine ... typical European with cold cuts, chesse, cereal, breads, juice and coffee. As with any 3 star hotel there are some limitations to be expected. The bath is quite small as is the elevator. The room was small but adequate and clean. The hotel is on a major street that may cause some traffic noise concerns for some. My wife and I would stay here again on a subsequent trip.

We were only there overnight before our flight back to the States in the morning, but checking in and out was a smooth process and the lobby staff was very friendly. The breakfast pastries were great and we really enjoyed the outdoor seating for breakfast since the weather was nice that morning.

Very close to the Santa Maria Maggiore and thus to everything else by public transport. I had a single room, decorated in a simple classical style. Felt rather spacious and was nice and quiet. The staff was rather odd, with one hyper cool guy who insisted on speaking English, one who behaved somewhat strangely and the last one so new he had a hard time finding the right information when they had not succeeded in booking an airport shuttle for me, and failed to inform me about it. Public areas virtually absent. Nice roof terrace for the breakfast, but the coffee didn't meet Italian standards. I would recommend the hotel for shorter stays, but would search for another hotel if I were to stay longer. I stayed one night, since it was my last night in Italy.

In the reservation we asked for a quiet room. At our arrival we got a room on the street side of the hotel. The reception host excused himself that he overlooked our request. It was very noisy due to the trafic during the whole night. The day after we moved to a quiet room. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. Belgians are very copious and like fresh food. The breakfast was quantatively all right, but we missed fresh baked bread, hotcakes, rolls. The open breakfast area with a view on the city is beautiful. Anayway, we think a stay in this hotel is worth while and we will come back.

I have ticked excellent for all because we could not fault the hotel or the service. It would have been nice if the room could have been a little bigger but this is an old building in Rome therefore room size is determined by the original building. This is a very minor thing and I only say this to emphasize that really the hotel is faultless. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful holiday and would certainly recommend Venere.com to all our friends and would use your site again. absolutly the BEST! THANK YOU. (The hotel is great value too)

The helpful and friendly staff at the Doria and the presentation of the rooms were highlights, as was the nice breakfast served top floor (and out on the roof garden when the breakfast room was full - with a surprise view of the Colosseum). Unfortunately, the hotel is on busy Via Merulana, and while this makes it handy to the train station "Termini", and within walking distance of the Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, and the Colosseum, (1/2 hour to 40 mins away) the traffic noise and sirens can't help but get through the shutters, and it's not the most salubrious end of town. However, I would recommend the Doria for its quality rooms and helpful staff.

The hotel is located in a good position, lateral of the central railway (Termini) station, but near the beautiful S. MAria Maggiore church, which make the location more beautiful comparing to other of the many hotels in this quarter of the city. My stay was good in all aspects except for THE VERY HIGH NOISE LEVEL IN MY ROOM, coming from an old central air conditioning system.
