Staff friendly, welcoming & helpful. Continental breakfast satisfactory. Market setup early morning in street below very noisy, reduced if windows closed. Close to metro & airport shuttle, easy walking distance most tourist attractions. Difficult to find behind market stalls in street.

The hotel is very well located, not more that ten minutes walking from Termini train station. The room is enough large, good bath for the European standard. The neighborhood isn't too much beautiful but it's safe and with good options of restaurants and laundry too. The wireless works well at the room. The breakfast is too much simple and the the guys that stay in the reception aren't very sympathetic.

There was a little trouble with the English/Italian conversations at check in and out. Milk for latte and cappuccino was strange, maybe evaporated?? Don't drink it, rest of the breakfast was typical. This place is on the main street go inning to Duomo, etc and a block from Academie.

This is our fourth time to use this hotel and it has always been excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful and one is remembered from previous stays. While the location is a busy market street during the day we enjoy it and it is within a short distance of the main train station and also the bus and metro routes. Hopefully we will use this hotel again on our next visit to Rome

Good security at the entrance (no hotel sign, just number and bell-listing) and a warm, efficient welcome by night staff. Room was small as expected but comfortable, well-equipped and lavishly and colourfully decorated, but morning staff was in bad mood and spoilt the visit.

I was really surprised that the room was so big and spacious. Do note that is in a building with private apartments and other small hotel establishments on the other floors but dont worry that doesnt affect you at all! Anyway thumbs up for the exceptional level of service here! Anyway if you are checking in, in the day do note that the main door is located in the middle of this flea market kind of street. So make sure to walk to the middle of the market and then you will see the door. Its really near the main termini, its literally a 8 to 10 mins walk!

My 1st day and 1st hotel after arrive for my EU tour. 1st really hard to find (no sign) as i expected a sign, and no one know about the hotel or the address given. take us 30 Mins to find it in the middle of mild rain. Location of the hotel was great few block away from Termini, and the best part was morning market just in front of the hotel. May be need a hot water maker for winter season. Bathroom was small but clean, no complain. Recommended.

It was perfect for what we needed. Location was close to train station, close to many restaurants -one excellent place on the same block. The windows kept the room quiet. The neighborhood was bustling but felt safe. Only concern was the difficulty of getting in and out of the shower. It was tiny and when stepping over to get in or out, there was nothing to hold on to. If you grabbed the door,it came off the track. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for the elderly or for anyone with small children for that reason

Did a lot of research on hotels in Rome and chose this one and was glad I did. The staff were super-friendly, the room was quite modern for an old building and always exceptionally clean. The continental breakfast was much more fulsome than expected and the overall price was amazing. Yes, the bed was very firm, the "toilet-pump-thingy" was noisy sometimes, as well there aren't all the fancy perks of a 4 or 5 star hotel but that's why we chose this place. We came to Rome to explore the ancient sites and beauty of the city, not sit in a hotel room. We wanted a clean, friendly, conveniently-located, well-priced hotel to come back to each night after walking all day in Rome and this is the perfect place. We would stay here again next time we go to Rome without a doubt.

The hotel was beautiful inside, very clean, and very quiet. It is just a few blocks from the Rome train station. Our room was very lovely, modernized and clean and included a safe, but we must have had one of the smaller rooms and it was difficult to have space to open our two large suitcases. The bathroom was a bit small but adequate. The staff were all very professional and willing to please. Breakfast was a continental breakfast - not a lot of choice but adequate. We would definitely return but ask for a slightly larger room.

Perfect location near the train station but not too close. Nice neighborhood with many restaurants close by. Each room has a different configuration as it was an apartment building that was converted. Some rooms nicer than others but all good. Breakfast was very nice and located in a little garden area behind reception. The staff was exceptional and helped us in every way! This hotel should not be a 2-star hotel but the owner told us that they would rather be a superior 2-star than a mediocre 3-star! It was a great value for us!

Staff very congenial and helpful. We were met on sidewalk and helped inside with luggage (especially helpful getting bags up to room on small elevator). Convenient to Termini. Triple room was spacious. Good-sized shower compared to others encountered (but needed a shelf or holder for soap). Breakfast was good, esp enjoyed the BEST coffee of our 3-week European vacation. Facility oddly arranged. More like a B&B than hotel, which suited us fine. Neighborhood a bit dreary but OK since we went out as a group. Excellent restaurant recommended nearby.

This hotel was very convenient as far as being near Termini station. The main problem that we had was that the room was on the first floor and there was a market on the street in the morning. They started setting up for it at 5:45 AM and it was very loud and impossible to sleep. Also, breakfast was until 10:30, we went at 9:50 and there was 1 pastry and 1 roll left.

Great location, we walked to the Forum, Trevi Fountain, Borghese Gardens, Spanish Steps - all about 15 or 20 minutes away. Also very close to the tube and mainline trains if you don't like walking (or have done enough). Coach transfers to the airports 2 minutes away at the top of the road. Overall the hotel was great. The location is ideal as it is close to the main Rome railway station (Roma Termini) 5 min. walking distance, also you can catch the tour buses nearby the station. Shuttle buses can be taken from Roma Termini to either airport. Very nice hotel if you need to find a good place close to Termini Station. Staff very friendly, gives great suggestions for dinner, location easy to find, only draw back was the rooms were cold, we were there during a cold-spell and it was uncomfortably cold at night. Got extra blankets so it was okay. Otherwise, rating would have been higher. Breakfast was good with a variety of pastries, toast and yoghurt.

Great find. Immaculately clean and private. Staff is available 24 hrs a day. Easy to find and conveniently close to Termini station. The only bad thing about this place is location...it is located on the "wrong side" of Termini station. Lots of "eyes" watching us as we looked for our hotel. Some shady characters just hanging out in the doorways on the way to the hotel. Advice from the staff? "Always walk in the light, never in the dark". I would stay here again if I had to do a quick turnaround at Termini station and I would only arrive/depart during the day, not in the evening.

The hotel appears to be a private apartment complex with some floors converted to hotel rooms. The front door is locked and you must ring to be buzzed in. Our room for 3 was spacious and well furnished. There's no common seating area but a bar is being created in a side room on the ground floor. Definitely good value for money. We arrived after 1pm, after the street market outside the front door cleared out. The debris made us wonder of the state of the hotel. But inside the door was entirely different and the debris outside gets cleared before evening. Several good restaurants around the corner. Agree with recommendation for Mama Angela's. Two restaurants closer on the same side of the street, there was another that was equally good. Location is great being near the Termini train station. All the tour buses stop nearby, the shuttle bus to the airports (8Euro) start there, the subway (Metro) stops there and of course the regional trains. But the hotel is far enough away by several blocks to escape the madness around the Termini station. The breakfast was good. Corn flakes for cereal, orange juice, selection of pastries, buns, yogurts and choice of fresh brewed coffees. Simple but nice.

We had to leave very early so couldn't take advantage of the breakfast. Staff is there 24 hours/day. There is a street market apparently daily on the street in front of the hotel, which creates lots of traffic and trash (trash cleaned after market closes), but once you go through the front streetside door, it is a wonderful hotel.

We visited in August 2011. We wanted to stay near the Termini for 3 nights - The value for price was excellent. The staff were friendly and VERY helpful. The room was large, air-conditioned and exactly as expected. The price included a continental breakfast. Overall an excellent experience, and as an added bonus a great little coffee-shop across the street with wonderful canoli and a flea market just outside the door each morning. Would definitely stay there again when in Rome.

Hotel room was spacious and Massimo and his brothers were excellent in helping us out with questions we had. Great restaurants near by, especially Mamma Angela's. Very close to Termi Station. Area was safe. Outdoor daily market outside hotel. Fresh fruit, and more. Only thing, once market left at 1:00, they left a mess behind and made the area look sloppy. The hotel had character, clean and gracious staff. Would stay there again.

Like many of the hotels around the railway station, this is in an old palatial apartment block, sometimes shared with another hotel of a similar kind taking other floors. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had booked a regular room in the hotel, but were upgraded to their apartment, many spacious rooms occupying most of one floor! The hotel was clean and comfortable. Hotels in Rome are horrendously expensive: Domus Praetoria is at the cheaper end of the market, is centrally located, and so (relatively) excellent value. They serve good coffee for breakfast, and the cafe opposite (recommended to us by the hotel) serves probably the best cappuccino in Italy.

The hotel is 3 1/2 blocks from the Termini train station. You really want to make sure you find Via Milazzo directly off the train station rather than taking the "scenic route" we did! Note that Via Milazzo is near the commercial part of the station in the opposite direction of Piazza dei Cinquecento (in the direction of where the trains come in rather than the part of the station where people come in). It's a brilliant idea to stay at a hotel near the main station. It's a quick and cheap ride (1 EUR) to all of the locations on either the metro or the bus (or you can get a three-day pass). It can be a bit crowded at peak travel times, but you will get used to it. It's well worth it.

Overall a good place to stay. You feel confortable and secure. A little bit inside the street, with an open market every day on the quarter.

If you are not used to hotels in residence bldgs. you might be turned off initially by the entrance which is not on the street, but it's really a great little hotel. I would definitely go there again. Added interest is a street market directly in front of the hotel. Fun and colorful. The staff is wonderfully helpful. Rooms are spacious, updated, bathroom large and updated.

The hotel is really a set of rooms in an apartment complex (there are one or two more similar hotels in the same apartment) run by three brothers. It's easy to walk past it because there's no huge sign board; entry is through a button intercom system at the side of the door (look for the Domus Praetoria button and press it). The room gave me everything I need for a comfortable stay; from the time I was checked in to the time I was checked out early in the morning. Room was reasonably large and very clean. Any issues I had were promptly resolved by one of the brothers. Breakfast is basic but the cappucino was excellent. It is a solid three star for the place but an extra star for the helpfulness of the brothers at all times.

Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived; the staff immediately stopped and accomodated our needs and took care of the room. Spotlessly clean. Staff were eager to please and met all our needs. There are some street noises; take ear plugs and you will be all set. Street vendors arrive early to set up below which adds to the charm of Rome just noisey. This hotel was a little more costly than others we had stayed at; a little over our budget but worth the price if you want to be close to the Termini train station.

Close to station Roma Termini, historic city center can be reached on foot in about 20 to 30 minutes. Alternatively, a lot of bus lines go to Termini. Friendly staff, good cappuccino at breakfast. I loved the old-fashioned elevator :-)

Totally upset with this hotel. The main entrance is hard to find with just 1 wooden door in front with a small plate showing that it is a hotel! We asked for a kettle to boil hot water. The staff said they don't provide the kettle due to security reason! WTF????? Please, anyone out there if you want to consider this hotel. Don't really think about it. My suggestion is, with this kind of rate, you can get even better elsewhere. So stay away from this hotel!!!

Excellent staff - very friendly, because the hotel is family-owned. Good location, near to the main train station, supermarkets and bistros in a 5 minute radius. Very clean, decent breakfast, free WLAN in the rooms. Within 2 metro station away from the most atractions (Colosseum, Spagna, Trevi Fountain) or 20-25 minutes walking distance.

Our stay in Domus Praetoria was excellent, we were there in November, hotel was spotless and warm, staff welcoming and helpful. The location is very convenient for transport to and within the city and ideally located for the university. Breakfast is basic but perfectly adecquate and lots of restaurants in the area. There is a market in the mornings on the street but with double glazed windows it is barely audible. Would certainly use hotel again

I have stayed in this location before but this hotel was much much better; the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Rearranging the double bed into two singles for mother and daughter [aged 60 and 40], blankets and extra pillows. Breakfast was more than adequate with several good eateries nearby for evenings. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to family, friends and fellow travellers.

My room (for single traveller) could best be described as 'compact' but the ensuite shower room was of a reasonable size. Although it was over the street the new double glazing kept virtually all the noise out, and thick walls in an old building did the same internally - the only disturbance was other guests slamming their doors... Breakfast is modest but acceptable, and there's an excellent choice of reasonable restuarants in the surrounding area. It's also very convenient for Termini Station and the Castro Pretorio Metro station.

This is truly a hidden gem behind an anonymous fasade. When you enter the floor of your room all of a sudden you feel like you are in a 3-4 star hotel. Security of hotel very good. Free internet is also a bonus when travelling with youths.

Everything that I read here before booking, was true. At least all of the positive points. The brothers were very hospitable, efficient, helpful, and much younger than I had imagined. The breakfast set up and service was very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. I am a single female who was traveling alone and I was quite comfortable here. I would definitely stay again.

Hotel was lovely and very central, next to railway, metro and bus station. The only thing lacking in the room was some tea making equipment which after a long day sight seeing would have been nice. The streets in the surrounding area are quite dark. I was staying with my Mum and Auntie for 3 days and we enjoyed some lovely meals in the restaurants in the surrounding area. No need to venture too far from the hotel at night time.
