Single rooms are WITHOUT bathroom, unless private were specified on website. Breakfast starts at 8:00, but night staff could arrange something when leaving at 7:15. Map does not show the street, which is L-shaped, and n°31 not obvious to find if you get the street from behind. Very small room, not cheap, like everywhere in central Roma. But you're in Roma !

Domus Mea was not great, but not wretched. It's a small hotel on the fifth floor, which means it's very, very hot in July-August. That means that, if you're a northerner like myself, plan on spending an extra 5 euro for air conditioning. Nothing too awful or too great about it, just good for one or two nights while passing through Rome. If you're staying longer, I'd recommend somewhere else, further away from Termini-the neighborhood is over priced and pretty loud at night.

Very good conditions inside of the hotel! and it is only 10 mins walk from the termini railway station. the recommanded restaurant by the receptionist was good at italian food.nice place with good price and quality. but the outside noise by the airconditions from other rooms is a bit bad at night.

Double room. 30 EUR per person per night. Too high price. Should be 18-20. *** The breakfast is awful! The worst coffee in Italy! + 2 dried croissant. *** The rooms are near the staff toilet. *** Broken air conditioner. *** The service is not friendly. *** No pluses for that hotel at all. Would never go there!

The hotel is at a very good price. The personnel is competent and helpful, but insufficient (one man for everything). Facilities are not adequate for "Italian" standards (e.g. no "bidet" in bath, no bathfoam and other personal goods for hosts). It is not possible to achieve a a receipt for local tax. It is not possible to have directly an invoice (they promised it will be sent later on). Good: Wi-Fi connection is "gratis", you have to sign a declaration for the "privacy" law (it's the first time I had this request, but probably is in line with the new dispositions). But the price is very good :)

Overall I liked this hotel. It was only about 5 block from the main train station. It was a nice hotel. Room was small, but I only needed a place to sleep for one night & didn't plan to spend any time in the room. It had a small balcony, which I relaxed on for a bit. The bathroom was small, but clean. Room was clean. Breakfast was included, but I had to leave before the 7AM serving time. Air conditioning was an extra 5 Euro charge if wanted. No phone in the room, but they came & got me when I had a call from home, & let me talk on the phone at the front desk. The staff were nice & accomodating. They needed to copy my passport, and the lady was in the middle of eating a meal when I arrived, so she asked me to leave my passport with her and pick it up when I came back from my sight seeing that evening. I was a little nervous about leaving it, but she made me feel at ease & gave me the impression that it was safe & no big deal. So, I left it and everything was fine. Got the passport when I returned. No issues. Hotel is a bare bones hotel - no frills - but great if you're looking for a small but comfy bed & clean room at a very reasonable cost. My only issue was that it was on the 5th floor (which I didn't expect). But there is a very small cage style elevator if you don't like to climb stairs.

I stay in Rome for 3 days and the hotel did provide a quiet environment to me. But the main problem is that air-conditioning has to be charged for 8 euro a night and the staff refuse provide me the soap to me.

Overall a convenient place with good prices for Rome. Also quiet. One can walk from the hotel or take public transportation to most places of interest in the city. The only drawbacks are the air-conditioning for which you need to pay an extra if you want to use it - and the room got quite hot after the day - and the old elevator for which one has to close doors by hand: if someone has forgotten to close them, you have to use the stairs!

The Domus Mea offered value for money in respect of sleeping only. Except for a bread roll and broken crackers, breakfast does not exist. I ended up by having to eat breakfast, or should I say find breakfast somewhere else.Every hotel should offer a good breakfast or at least a choice! The location was excellent. It could not have been any more central.Clean and quiet.

Not bad in general, looks pretty and cozy, the area is opportune for a traveler (10 mins to walk at Termini, 10 mins to reach Reppublica with SM degli Angelli, + the neighbour Volturno street has several caffés, shops, internet points etc), beautiful overgrown terrace, rather acceptable colazione. Pretty typical balcony. But beware of night doorman!! -- loads of talks and no assistance. And I saw a cockroach once!

I stayed in a single room with bathroom. The room was small but enough for a person. The sheets were clean, but not the other things in the bed. The breakfast was in general bad and scarce. The man that received me the nicht I came was really unpleasent. The relationship price-quality I found a little bad, but the ubication was pretty good, I even found an internet place right around the corner. Wouldn't recommend.

We stayed in Domus Mea from 03 to 11 of October 2010. Hotel has convenient location near Termini station where trains arrive from Fiumicino airport. But district isn't very good - there are a lot of immigrants and they are very noisy, especially in the morning. Rooms are small and clean, we took with bath. Breakfast is simple - just coffee or tea (first is much more better)), bun, butter and jam, and it doesn't change. Staff is welcome and pleasant, they always help with information, advise or umbrella in case of rain)) As resume: it's good hotel, you pay for two stars - you get two stars.

It was my first stay at Hotel Domus Mea and I only stayed one night. I am 60 and was travelling with a priest age 74, and a lady age 83, and we all found the hotel, the rooms, bathrooms, breakfast and the owners/staff excellent. The hotel is very clean all over and there is no noise from the street.I have recommended Hotel Domus Mea to a young woman and she had the same positive experience when she stayed there. There is a very good restaurant in the same street which I will recommend too - and a lot of shops in the area. I have only one 'negative' thing to say: there is more than 50 meters from the Termini Station and to the hotel, maybe 150 or 25o meters, which surely is not much, but too much when you have heavy lugage and expect to walk only 50 meters. I am sure I will return to HotelDomus Mea when I am in Rome again.

This hotel is found on a side street that doesn't allow any traffic. Therefore, when I had arrived by shuttle from the airport, I had to literally drag my suitcases from the main street (where the shuttle driver dropped me off)all the way to the hotel. The lift was tiny, so I had to make 2 trips to get my luggage up to the 4th floor. The room they gave me was a closet that they had transformed into a "room". It was absolutely tiny. The t.v. was so high up that I got a stiff neck trying to watch it from lying in my bed. I thought for sure that they would have given me a huge discount for giving me the closet room that was next to the staff's lounge. I heard a lot of noise. The breakfast was good. This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Termini. It seemed like a good hotel; clean, quiet, etc. I just don't think I should have paid full price for the tiny room I was given. Luckily it was very clean.

Hotel is within an apartment building on the 5th floor. If you want the air conditioner to work, you must pay an extra 8 Euros/night. Must carry suitcase up a narrow and steep staircase to the 2nd level to access the rooms. The drain in the shower was very slow. Very small balcony with no good view. Positive note: About 6 minute walk from train station. Good restaurants nearby.

If you don't mind smelly shared bathroom, unreliable elevator, hiking 7 stories up to your room when the elevator is out of order, this is an ok choice moneywise. 80 Euro per night, late May, 2010. Breakfirst was quite simple, coffee, buns, milk availible upon request, only starts at 8. We could only had 1 breakfirst during our 3 nights stay because the tight schedule. The fresh towels didn't smell fresh at all. Wi-Fi worked well. Little balcony was a nice bonus, not much view though. Close to the termini, 10 minutes walking, without suitcase.

It was ok. For 35 Euro a night you can't expect too much and that's what I got. The guy at the front desk spoke perfect english and was helpful w/ directions. If you're looking for something upscale keep looking. But if you need a place to crash for a night or two it's perfect. There's a shared bath and that's kinda wierd but again it was only 35 Euro and 2 blocks from the main train station. Good travels. Mike D from Philly

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! I have used Venere for over 30 hotel stays over recent years and I have always had a pleasant experience. Hotel Domus Rea was my first very UNPLEASANT experience. They are rip-off artists who will make you regret ever making a booking with them. They claimed we had a 2 night reservation despite having a confirmation for only one and insisted they had to charge us for two. When we got to the room (which was boiling) and asked for the remote to the air-conditioning we were told we had to pay an extra 8 euro to actually use the AC!!! There were another 4 people complaining about the hotel in the lobby at 23.00hrs when we arrived. The reception guy had the "there's nothing I can do - it's my manager's responsibility" approach and ended up solving none of the problems. I strongly recommend you stay far away from this hotel.

This hotel is located on fifth floor of a building. The lift is old fashioned, you have to close Two doors before some one else can use it. No problem, but if you are used to such kind of lift, otherwise you are definitely going to forget it. And this is where the receptionist indulged in a dispute with us and was not at all wiling to listen to us. However the next day, there was a different person on reception and he was quite gentle and kind. The air conditioning is not included in room price and there is no fan as well. We had to pay 8 euros per night for air conditioning and it didn't work better than a fan. The only positive point is that it is located quite close to central railway station.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at Domus Mea. After reading the reviews we were very nervous but decided to go with it as it was within our budget and convenient. We had none of the problems we had read about. We arrived late but the staff (Salvatore, I think his name was) was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but after a few weeks in Europe we had come to expect that. Probably not as close to Termini Station as indicated on webpage but still fairly close and convenient for everything. Even the neighbourhood was not as scary as I had expected. Nice restaurants nearby. If the price is right we'll stay again.

A good hotel, bu a bit expensive. 50 euros a night for a single bedroom with no shower nor washroom. There are other hotels that are cheaper (35 euros) and include a shower (no washroom). The only added benefit from the additional cost was the inclusion of a free breakfast (bread rolls) and your choice of coffee (americano), cappuccino or tea.

If you are from the US, then you will find the room alarmingly small. If you are from Europe, then you will be fine with the size. In the Bath Room, there were no wash cloths available and the bars of soap were way to small to be of real value. For Breakfast, they could use some variety. They offered the same old cold muffin every day. They could have had dry cereal or any number of things that would have set better. Perhaps I am just too spoiled with variety in my life. The bed was two beds pushed together. Other than the things I have listed, my stay was good. It served it's purpose.

It is a good low cost hotel with a very good location for a tourist. On the whole you pay for what you get.The best thing about the room is a balcony,an italian balcony. It is impossible to experience an italian atmosphere without it. In my opinion the things to improve are to get the shared bath properly cleaned and more varied breakfast(at least 3 different types within a week otherwise it becomes difficult to bear).I guess one is to pay more in this case...

The Domus Mea is not 50 Meters from Roma Termini station as written on the webpage however, it is within walkable distance, probably 400 Meters. 5th Floor of an old Building, with a very small and scary old fashion elevator. Anyway at the price offered I would recommend it to anybody for a short stay and I would stay there again myself. Disappointed with the breakfast starting time. 8.00 am starting it is definitely too late for a City Hotel. Should be changed. Regards Robby

Everything was fine, except the actual bed that I slept in was really uncomfortable. The pillow and the mattress really need to be replaced, there was no spring in them at all, it was like sleeping on a sack of flour. Luckily it was only for one night! But I have to say the service was excellent and everything else was fine!

I have been to countless hotels but this was the first time that I had to use a call box to get the hotel staff to open the ground floor door. The hotel has an elevator albeit an old-fashioned one - with accordion type primary door and a swing type door to get into the carriage. I was greeted by an amiable man when I got to the front desk and was expecting me. He didn't even wantto see my reservation slip anymore. Anyway, the hotel atmosphere was very homey and room was very clean, too. I returned to the hotel one midday and found a hotel staff cleaning my room - with antiseptics, too! Breakfast as expected was very simple bread, butter, jam and coffee. I have no problem with the type of breakfast but I do hope that they start serving breakfast earlier than 8 a.m. I missed two breakfasts (crucial for a budget traveler like me) because I wanted to start early. I suggest that the hotel leave hot water for coffee or tea in the room. I would go back to the same hotel given another opportunity and would recommend it to friends. The location, especially is very convenient, it is near the main railway station (Termini) but not too near as to hear and feel the rumble of the trains

Very helpful and welcoming staff. Very central and good access to Termini and sites. Rooms very clean, comfortable and lovely view given central location. Very quiet at night. Secure. Good basic breakfast. Older hotel well refurbished. Room was a bit small, but it did have a welcome desk and chair Main problem were last flight of stairs - but staff very happily assisted. Excellent value and would recommend.

The hotel is situated on floors 5 & 6 of a building. The ground floor entrance and ancient elevator were rather uninviting, but once inside the hotel we were warmly welcomed in pleasant surroundings. They serve a fair continental breakfast. There is a pleasant balcony with tables and chairs where we could eat our own light meals. Rooms were clean and adequate size, although not large. The hotel is in a reasonably quiet backstreet where, best of all for us, we could park for free. A good stay. Staff was very helpful and most could speak English.

I stayed in Domus Mea for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and my experience was very enjoyable. I had a single room that consisted of a single bed and a TV, and toilet and shower. The room was more than sufficient for my needs. The hotel is on the 5th floor of a nice secure building, and very close to Termini Station. I was always out exploring so i never had breakfast, but the breakfast room did look lovely. I would definately stay here again as I felt safe, the hotel was definately value for money and the staff very friendly, and really close to the Termini Station.

Great location, especially for a one or two night stay. Probably not ideal for much longer than that but perfectly fine for a short stay. Bathrooms are small but really all you need. Had a great big room with a balcony which was lovely. Being so close to Termini station was extremely handy! Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place for a short stay if you're not planning to spend much time at the hotel... but why would you? you're in Rome!!

Great location, near Termini station, easy to find following the directions from their website. Good budget hotel, good service and friendly English speaking staff available 24h. The shared bathroom was clean. There was noise coming from people walking to the rooms upstairs.

This hotel does pretty much what it says on the tin. The location is great, about 5mins walk from Termini Station. The hotel is on the 5th floor of a residential building but there's a lift. The breakfast is rudimentary, but we weren't charged for it. My wife and I were definitely not happy with the bathroom situation (postage stamp size shared between 3 or 4 rooms!). The landlady was also a bit gruff and didn't speak much English but the two men were more helpful. The room was fine though, clean, reasonably spacious and with a small balcony. Paying with cash is recommended.

Clean beds and rooms. Very little noise from traffic outside. Juste treatment from the employes. The location of the hotel a few block from Statione Termini suited us very well. Negative thing was that on the web page it was written that the rooms had air condition. They had but to use it costed 8 Euros per day.

The owner, signore Ari, is a very kind person. The same we can say about others members of staff. Particularly Zizou, we had opportunity to talk and helped us with his opinions about the city and the people of Rome.

Have stayed here several times but was very disappointed not to get breakfast. We were given a bag with 2 packets of broken toast, butter, jam and 2 cakes. No cutlery so I don't know how they expected us to spread the butter and jam! No drinks! I am sure we could have been given something to take to our room if they were worried about any noise. Would have reservations about staying here again. It is unfortunate as I have always liked it in the past.

We stayed in a double room without bathroom. There were two rooms sharing the washroom facilities but we did not experience any problems there, although the shower was small and the lights are on timers. Room was about standard size for Europe. There was an air conditioner but at an extra charge of 8 euros. Breakfast was large fresh buns, coffee, juice and sweet buns--typical for Italy. There was an outside balcony available in the public area. All in all location was central and value for Rome was great. Entrance is on the fifth floor and via an ancient elevator. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I wanted a room that was cheap, clean, and close to Roma Termini. Hotel Domus Mea promised this and delivered. I wouldn't take my wife, but since I was travelling alone and simply wanted somewhere to lay my head for three nights, this hotel was ideal.

Domus Mea is a quite nice hotel for few days staying in Rome. Located in the very centre of the city, however not in the worst area. Our room wasn't very spacious, but quite nice, clean and comfortable. And with small balcony as a plus. I recomend.

This is the worst B&B we have ever stayed during our vacation to Europe in the past 4 years. We had a room with private bathroom but the room is so small that you cannot even put a big luggage in. Staff is very unfriendly and air conditioner is NOT included in the $110 EURO rate. The breakfast includes only 2 slices of stale bread/butter and a cup of coffee and we had to check out within 2 days of our stay. Not worth the money. Bad experience
