Although a little out of the way, this hotel was a gem. The surrounding nieghbourhood had so many excellent restaurants and bars that we would rather stayed there than eat n the more touisty areas in the old city. The metro stop was convinent and even a taxi from Spana was less than 20 euro. Our friend got food poisoning in the old ciy and the staff at the hotel did everything possible to help. They even got a doctor to come out to the room for us. Very nice people very nice place.

The Hotel Derby and its staff was excellent. I really enjoyed my stay. The only improvement they could make would be to provide a toaster for breakfast, as many people prefer to toast their morning bread.

L'hotel non è di certo eccezionale. Costruzione vecchia, camera piccola, colazione scarsa. Personale gentile.

The Hotel is nice, and in a residential are. The service is good, the rooms are clean and the staff is very professional. However, I must say that the breakfast was a bit disappointing, just one croissant (which was fine) but no other breads, just apples (no other fruits)and butter and cheese spread. I think that this has to be improved for the price charged. The other drawback is that is five blocks away for the metro station (not 200 meters), so this should be more specified. I would say that it is a good hotel for the expensive Rome, but be aware of the poor breakfast (to the management: just throw some bananas, peaches and grapes, plus some bread and that is it, you do not need to spend a fortune).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though just for 1 night, the only problem was parking the car, as the hotel has no private parking lot. However, we do recommend this hotel.

Good staff. Rooms small (tiny really) - at least the single rooms. Parking in the area not a problem. Breakfast just ok. Very personable. Air conditioning not available in all rooms (I had it all the time but the staff told me that not all rooms had it) and during the summer months it is very necessary. Rooms facing the front of the hotel (entrance) are quiet. My colleagues told me that the rooms facing the main street are noisy.

Derby is a fine hotel. Very good located (5 minutes walk to Metro) in a nice (safe) neighbourhood; not noisy (!). In the South area of Rome City; this means easy access by car to the motorway and airport. Not cheap, not expensive: quality.

Piacevole soggiorno. Tranquillo e in zona piacevole.

Hotel Derby has been a good choise for us for two reasons: -It's close to a friend of us -it's close to metro "Garbatella" (which is a nice suburb) and you can reach the City center in a few stops.

For a very low price I've got a nice hotel, in the lovely area of the Garbatella, a nice welcome and good helping from the staff during my staying. If I'll need to stay again in Rome I know where to go. Good breakfast as well.

The only thing I would like to compain about is that in the room there was no possibility of taking a shower (only a bath in the bathtub, the shower was not working!). For the rest everything was really ok.

We really recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the suburbs of Rome. The staffs are very helpful and kind. It is a bit far from the center but the Garbatella bus station is very close by. So it wasn't a problem for us.

We paid 59 euros for a double room. At this price the hotel is good value but the normal price seems to be 144 euros which seems excessive. The breakfast can hardly be described as "buffet". There are drinks, biscuits, yogurts and apples and the waitress brings one croissant per person to the table. The hotel is also NOT 200m from the station. It's probably about 600m, which is fine but not what the site states.

The Derby is a useful base for visitors to the south of Rome, such as the exhibition and trade fair centre. The rooms are not particularly spacious, but they are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Throughout my stay, the staff were attentive, courteous and helpful. If staying in the height of luxury with spectacular views is not top of your agenda, the Derby is worth considering.
