Hotel Reviews Della Torre Argentina

United Kingdom, Oct 2009

The hotel location is very central so ideal. The staff are very obliging and met all our advance requests about our room. It was expensive but the quality of room furnishings was good and the bathroom was very nice and modern. It is on a very busy street but the hotel has spent money on noise reduction. The AC worked very well and kept us cool.

The hotel staff was very accomodating. We arrived early in the morning and they were able to give us an early check-in after a one-hour wait. Our shuttle to the airport was early also, and the waiter fetched us while we were having breakfast so that we could leave on time. We will gladly recommend this hotel to friends.

Stop shopping. Superb hotel easy 4 star in historic area.!! I spent 5 nights with my parents in September at the Della Torre Argentina. Easy walk or bus ride to all the sites. Near Pantheon, near Piazza Nouvena and short walk to Trevi Fountain. Recently remodeled, quiet, airconditioned, marble bathrooms with toweldryer, hair dryer and bidet, fullbath and shower. Comfortable long queen size bed. Triple room with alcove for large twin. 12 foot ceiling with chandelier, ample room. Electronic closet safe, TV with internet access. Best of all very very quiet, no smells, superb maid service and wonderful towels. Large varied breakfast buffet from 7-10AM with eggs, pastries, cold cuts, fruit, coffees, juices, cheeze and yogurt. Really a fantastic hotel and will no hesitate to go back. Very accommodating front desk, English speaking . They helped me in arranging taxi service from the airport for 50 euros. Lots of restaurants in neighborhood. Wonderful roof top patio with spectacular view of Pantheon and St Peters

Very nice hotel, especially considering the price and location. On the advice of another review, I requested a room with a view and we ended up with a room with a lovely terrace. The service was very good and the room was clean, spacious enough (not huge but more than adequate) with a nice bathroom with a good shower. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location. We had a triple room, and it was very spacious with a large bathroom. It faced away from the main street and was very quiet at night.

The hotel location is perfect. We stayed in a family room. The room size was good for a family of two adults and 3 children, however it was not very clean and there were ants in the floor, beds,... People at the reception were not very nice or hepful. The quality of breakfask products could be better.

We loved our stay at the hotel. The room was on the small side, but it was nice, clean, and had everything we needed. The staff was very helpful, the breakfast was very generous, and the location was amazing. We would definitely stay there again.

The triple room was so small we had no where to put our 3 suitcases without walking over them. Asked for a larger room but was told all rooms were sold out. The night concierge was very unfriendly and unhelpful. He called a cab for us one night and the cab driver had to stop on the street and ask 2 other cabbies for directions to the restaurant. We should have gotten out then! The driver drove us somewhere and told us the restaurant was just up the street but cars not allowed. We got out not knowing where we were and the restaurant was no where near there! When we reported our experience to the night concierge to make sure he never called that cab again, he acted like he didn't remember calling a cab for us! Very stern, unfriendly breakfast attendant. Breakfast was good however, with nice selection of pastries, meat and cheese. The Bell Captain was friendly and helpful. Location was good, and right by the bus and trolley stop. Near Piazza Fiori with several good restaurants, people watching, and shops. We would not stay here again due to the night concierge's unfriendliness/rudeness and the extremely small room size for 3 people. It was a double room with a twin bed squeezed in there.

To anyone visiting Rome, this is the hotel to stay. I booked this one due to the reviews in venere and it is all true, in the center close to everything, clean, cheap and Very good Quality. This will be my Hotel in Rome from now on. Also very good and cheap the arranged shuttle from the airport. I stayed 3 days in a 4 person bedroom in AUGUST 2009 and it was excellent. I booked out in the morning, the last day but the hotel arranged baggage keeping and airport shuttle latter in the afternoon that day and took care of me even late afternoon after booking out in the morning. Excellent service and Quality. Good breakfast in an excellent conserved old cellar. You can get also tickets and info for touristic tours at the front desk. Sometimes you choose a hotel on the internet and when you get there you find better options, this time it did not happen, when I got there I confirmed I had done the right choice.

We had two rooms and one of the rooms (305, I believe) had a terrible smell - but once you were in the room for a while you did not notice it. - One room was very spacious the other room was very small with little room for suitcases and things. The noise from other rooms was noticeable -whenever anyone else opened or closed their door our door also slammed. The location was ideal - practical to get to many places by walking and the bus was just outside the door. The breakfast was excellent and there was a large variety of foods to choose from. We would stay here again.

The hotel exceeded expectations. The room, which had a nice view of the street below and the roof of the Pantheon, was beautiful and had a reasonable amount of space, even with a twin-size additional bed. Lovely bathroom with marble floors. Excellent breakfast. There was an elevator, which not all hotels in Italy have, and we appreciated it, as we were on the 4th floor. The air conditioner worked very well, which was not always the case in other hotels we stayed at. The location was excellent, right near the Piazza Navone, in the old center of Rome, within easy walking distance to the places all tourists want to see. I highly recommend this hotel, and will stay there again.

Buena situación a buen precio.

Pros: rooms comfortable, A/C worked great in 100 degree farenheit temps, bathrooms roomy/clean, continental breakfast plentiful(fruit, pastries), location great, bus and taxi stand very close, price reasonable, small food store around the corner, service personnel available, room in back (not facing street) was quiet; Cons: Room facing street was a bit noisy for adult (but teenager was able to sleep fine), breakfast hours need to be moved earlier to 6:30 am to allow those taking tours to get breakfast before going on tour (breakfast staff was not happy with early arrivers even though desk personnel said it was okay to grab a quick croissant), elevators small;

I was an adequate hotel in a good location. A fair value for the price. It appears that they may be slowly upgrading the property. Our bathroom was spacious, brand new, state of the art. The room (#307)was spacious but in need of new carpet, wallpaper and furnishings. Breakfast room was "grotto like" ..cafe was dispensed out of a machine so it was very inconsistent...food was just OK...

Great location if you like Piazza Navona and area. Wonderful staff and nice breakfast. Super nice bathrooms and cleanliness outstanding. The hotel's location is excellent (two blocks away from the Pantheon and Campo dei Fiori) and the easy access to buses was very convenient (they stop right in front of the hotel). Rooms were clean and they provided free wi-fi in the room, which was very convenient. Hotel staff could be a little bit more helpful and friendly, but they answered all our questions. Breakfast was adequate. It had some fresh fruit but not a wide selection.

Hotel is in a great location with easy access to all the major sights in central Rome. This was our first stay at this hotel and when we booked the room we requested a view if possible. On check in we were pleasantly surprised by our room on the top floor with a beautiful terrace and a view from Piazza Venezia to St Peter's dome. The breakfast offerings were extensive. Buses to the Termini train station stop right in front of the hotel. We stayed for just 1 night on the last weekend in April and would definitely choose this hotel again on a future trip.

This is one of the best hotels I stayed in Rome. It had a very good location, near the cross between Corso VIttorio Emanuele and Largo di Torre Argentina. The rooms are quite nice and all the services are good. The breakfast is abundant and varied and it is served in a beautiful environment. It has the best quality / price relationship I have ever found in a hotel in the centre of Rome.

The front desk was not particularly welcoming. We tried both days to have a drink at the lounge/bar, but no one was ever there to serve us and it appeared not to be in use. The lounge furnishings were once elegant, but now worn and shabby. I believe the elevators would be too tiny for a large person. As it was we had to stand sideways and we are slim. The breakfast room was large and charming, with lots of food to choose from, although no hot food. There was yogurt, juice, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, pastries and an automatic coffee machine. The hotel is very near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, there is a noisy bus stop right in front of the hotel which would be handy if one wanted to use the bus. Our non-smoking room was small with high ceilings, but adequate, with a very nice modern bathroom, good water pressure, toiletries and large bath towels. We paid 140 Euro per night. I think the price was high, but then it is a hotel in Rome. Earlier in the week we stayed at a lovely convent for 80 Euro.

Part of the reason for staying was the shuttle service to the airport since this was my last destination before leaving. I inquired the day before departing and wasn't offered much - perhaps due to a language barrier at the front desk. I asked again before retiring for the evening and got the same story by a different person. I ended up having to pay for a cab ride since everyone was so vague. The hotel is conveniently located for many sites, but definitely noisy when staying street side but the windows do a great job of keeping the noise out. The lift works! and there was a nice variety for the breakfast, just remember North Americans have a different take on breakfast, so go open-minded and be happy there is something to eat! I would recommend this hotel if you only have a few days and want to see a lot, I was surprised how many places I was able to visit.INSIDER TIP: Pack some toilet paper in your purse/napsack & some hand sanitizer when out and about. There are no public washrooms and those available at the venues are less than favorable....

We (husband, myself and young daughter) stayed in Room 312 which is classified as a suite. It consisted of a very large sitting area, a large bedroom with king bed and a spacious bathroom with double sink, shower, toilet and bidet. There is also a TV in the sitting area and bedroom, plus free internet. This room also had a nice little outdoor patio so you could relax outside (no view though). We were delighted with the spaciousness and cleanliness of the room and the central location of the hotel with close proximity to buses, supermarket and walking distance to most sites. Breakfast was also excellent with a wide selection of pastries, cereals, fruits, beverages, cold cuts, cheese and boiled eggs. We stayed in one other hotel while in Italy (Venice) and HDTA's breakfast was much more extensive! When booking, we were torn between this hotel and another which cost much less but was less central and we are sooo glad that we went with HDTA -- it surpassed all our expectations! It was VERY convenient to be located so centrally and be able to walk to all the sites. Highly, highly recommend!!! Their only weakness would be their front desk staff who could probably improve their English and approachability.

Hotel Della Torre Argentina is in an excellent location for tourists -- between Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori. If you're not walking, the bus stops right out front and there's a taxi stand at the corner. This hotel is a little worn down (thin carpet and just general wear and tear), but clearly was a beautiful hotel in it's prime. Our room and bathroom (with a full tub) were generously sized, even by American standards. The room had all of the amenities that one might expect in a luxury hotel. If/When this hotel is updated or remodeled, they'll easily be able to charge double what we paid for location and comfort.

There where 4 women of us that stayed in Rome for 4 nights. Della Torre has an excellent situation. You can actually walk to almost every important sight. Employees at the reception were friendly and spoke English very well. Breakfast was very good, a full one. Only our room was not so good. This is a very good hotel and is very central in Rome with bus stops very close by (line 40 from the termini). The location is perfect for those who are sightseeing and want to view the ancient Rome area and the vatican. You can walk to the Coliseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps all within one mile. We had a quad that with all quads was tight. The bathroom was BIG. Large shower, double sinks. Breakfast was better than normal for Europe. Many restaurants in walking distance. 40 bus from Termini leaves you one block from the hotel. Same bus takes you directly to the Vatican

All the main things needed were there. Internet in the room was free along with TV and air conditioning that worked great. Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. Location next to bus stop, so can be a little loud, but the windows block out much of the sound. Have to expect some noise anywhere in Rome. Being close to the bus made it real easy to get back to airport as well. Breakfast was there every morning, nothing great, but did the trick. The bathroom was the best, the shower was great after a long day walking around. Two of the best dining areas in the city just a couple of blocks away, plus tons of great shops, stores, and cafes.

I am extremely pleased with this hotel, since it has an excellent location and I was offered an excellent service. Located in between Piazza Navona and Campo del Fiori, the neighborhood is a very lively and friendly one. though, my internal room was silent and quiet. The breakfast was another gratifyng surprise, certainly the best one I've had during my several stays in Rome. Strongly recommended!

We had one double room and two single rooms. We were all very satisfied with the rooms, the rooms were spacious and very quiet. The air condition was very good to have as temperature was up to 35 C. Good breakfast, a little long to the garage, but very easy access to transport facilities and all kind of shops.

Well positioned hotel providing easy access to all of Rome's major attractions. Hotel only provides bed/breakfast, but plenty of eating places within short walking distance. Would return to hotel & recommend it to friends.

We had a memorable stay at the Della Torre Argentina. Great room, close to all the main attractions and very easy to reach from the train station. We took a bus (frequenc 1-2 mins) which dropped us right in front of the hotel ! The were very accommodating and even served me hot milk for my 3 year old.Very decent breakfact included in the room rate. We ate a good breakfast and started off our sightseeing every day. The hotel is right in the heart of the city (Piazza Venezia is next door) and mins from the Pantheon. Dont miss the gelato joint bang opposite the hotel. The best I tasted in Rome ! Rome is gorgeous, and the hotel made a wonderful home for our 4 day stay.

This hotel is a real gem. Room was clean but small for four. Bathroom as good or better than any 5*. Staff very helpful, we stayed prior to cruise and then left our luggage for the day prior to flying home. Breakfast excellent continental. Hotel very central, easily reached by bus from Termini. All sights walking distance. Located on busy road, but our room was very quiet. Would definately recommend as great affordable city centre hotel.

This hotel is ideally located for seeing all parts of Rome. The service was very good, the staff helpful and inter-room sound proofing very good. We had a rear room overlooking a courtyard built-up on all four sides so had no view, but as we were out all day every day it didn't really matter - although a roadside room view would have been preferable. If we visit Rome again we will certainly stay here.

Location was great, we could do some sites in the morning, cool off for 2-3 hours in our air conditioned rooms and head off out again late afternoon. The bus stop is so close we had to fight through the queue to get in and out of the front door, great for us as we were travelling with 3 small children and two over 70s. On a busy road, but with windows closed, quiet in rooms. Breakfast was good for a continental buffet and included boiled eggs, meats, cereals, pastries, fruits but the juice from the machine was a bit rough. Bar was never open but plenty of alternatives around. Rooms were spotless, although we did get one smoking room which smelt a bit stale. Found great places to eat in the alleys behind the hotel, off the main road. Wish I could tell you the name of that great trattoria....Always head for the busy place, they can usually fit you in even if you are 7. We had a fantastic time in Rome against all the odds, and definitely helped by the location and air-conditioning of the Hotel Della Torre Argentina.

This was my first time at the Della Torre Argentina and I was not disappointed. Although the hotel is a bit expensive, it is in a great location, with a bus stop literally in front of the door. Easy access to all parts of the city and even on foot, many tourist sites are only 15 minutes away. The staff was always cordial, and usually very friendly. The breakfast was sufficient, the rooms were clean (and a bit bigger than some others in Europe, though not huge), and the overall experience was positive. I spent 4 days here and had no complaints at all. If you don't mind the price, this hotel is a great call.

Upon arrival, our room was upgraded because they realized there were four of us and not three. Don't know why they thought there were only three as I made the reservation for four. Our room was great - very spacious including the bathroom. We actually had two bedrooms and the best part was the terrace outside our room. It was very private and beautifully decorated with lots of plants and flowers. I wish we could have spent more time using it, but there was too much to see in Rome!

Excellent location, close to all attractions. Lively night life right outside - we loved this, but very light sleepers (was quiet if windows closed) might be averse. Beautiful, clean, classy hotel. All staff very helpful and friendly. Internet access was a very good draw. Even if you didn't bring your laptop (where wifi is free and easy to use right in your room), there is a keyboard and the "computer screen" pops up on the television. To truly feel the essence of bustling Rome within walking distance of Trevi Fountain, Campo di Fiore, and Piazza Navona this is the place to be! Gratzi Della Torre Argentina!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is superb, with all the major attractions within walking distance. We had 2 single rooms for a few days in April. The location is superb, although prices for hotels in Rome are high, but the general quality of the hotel was also in that range, although the single rooms where a bit tiny. We had a good laugh at the elevator that claimed that four people could take it, and must admit that northern Europeans are a bit larger than the average Italian. I had an Apple Airport with me and supplied my own wireless network, but the internet was very good (especially because it was free!). The hotel bar was a joke, as it was not manned, and the only time we asked for a drink, the portier claimed that it was closed. This was not a real problem as the streets surrounding the hotel are full of good places to go. I will definitely recommend the hotel for a shorter stay, and will not exclude it from my list of hotels in Rome the next time I go.

Excellent hotel I would recommend it to anyone who understands european standards. I read almost all of the reviews about Hotel Della Torre before I decided to book the room, and my advice to any prospective guests is keep in mind that this is Italy/Europe and things are operated differently from the US. Most of the complaints that I read were petty, not worthy of attention. If you still don't like what you are reading, then stick to the continental US for vacation. The only thing that may be worth attention is the fact that some of the rooms that overlook the street will be noisier than the ones facing the backyard, and of course, the higher the quieter regardless of which side you are staying at. I miss Roma already, it is an absolutely amazing city with very nice people (as long as you accept the fact that not everyone speaks English and that you will try to communicate with them to the best of your ability).

Hotel Della Torre Argentina is in an absolutely wonderful location. My single room was of more than adequate size and was clean. The breakfast was very good and varied--although the coffee was from a vending machine. The in-room e-mail service was free and very useful. There were several comfortable sitting rooms. However, the overriding comment is location, location, location. Absolutely perfect for walking to all the sights of bella Roma. Loved my stay.

I found Hotel Della Torre Argentina to have been an excellent choice. As a single, young female staying in Rome for a four day weekend, alone, I couldn't have asked for a better hotel at the price I paid. Within walking distance of everywhere - literally! Piazza Navona is like the front yard, Campo de Fiori is like the back yard, and the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza di Spagna are a mere 10-15 minute walk away. I even walked to Termini station in 30 minutes (ok, it was slighly up hill, but hey!!). The room was clean and the bathroom and shower were the largest I have ever experienced in my 4 or 5 trips to Rome over the last 10 years. So, the italians have a little to learn about how to make a great shower cubicle, but at least mine was large enough to move around in, and it DIDN'T leak - both of these a rarity in affordable hotel rooms. However, be prepared for noise. This hotel is located over one of the main arteries through Rome - cars, buses, scooters, and people at all hours of the night. But IT'S ROME!!! One night I even slept with my window open just so I could soak up the sounds of the city. It was fabulous! Obviously, i have little trouble sleeping. I rely very little on the assistance of staff as I speak italian well and have been to Rome often, as mentioned. But, on my first night, arriving relatively late in the evening, I asked the concierge for a recommendation for dinner which would be safe for a lone female traveller, and he kindly directed me to Campo de Fiori, indicating the best route to take there. It was fine. Warning however, you will pay 11 euro for a plate of plain spaghetti at Campo de Fiori - this translated to $20 australian dollars for me, an absolute fortune for this type of meal! The breakfast is fairly typical of mid-priced hotels in large italian cities - cold meats, cheese, muesli or corn flakes, bread rolls, and sweet breads, yoghurt, juice. I found the offering of boiled eggs to be handy as thes

Easy to reach by bus. (Take the 40 bus from Termini Station to the Argentina stop - 4th stop - and you are dropped off across the road from the hotel). Centrally located and easy to explore Rome from here. Comfortable room, good breakfast, friendly staff.

This was our third stay at the Hotel Della Torre Argentina: we like the hotel and the area, there are some pleasant bars and restaurants nearby. Room is always good: one tip though, ask for a room at the back of the hotel, as those overlooking the Corso Vittorio Emmanuele can be a little noisy, especially for anyone (like us) who likes to sleep with a window open). bar and breakfast room are elegant and the breakfast choice (presided over by a magnificently grumpy steward) is varied and enjoyable

My wife and I and our two adult children stayed for four days in Rome in December. Our experience at the hotel was similar to the reviews I'd read prior to booking a quad with this hotel. The hotel was centrally located, clean, and an excellent value. The breakfasts provided were wonderful! The staff were professional and courteous. We have no hesitation recommending this hotel to others and will stay there again when we come back to Rome.

The location of the hotel was great. We could walk everywhere. My only complaint was the lighting in the room was too low. It was hard to read with the dim lights, probably due to energy efficient bulbs and the lamps on the bedside tables were too low to provide light while reading in bed. However, mattress was great, room was quiet and clean and the bathroom was beautiful.

I've been to Rome many times and this is my fave hotel. I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years and am glad to review it. The staff is excellent! The breakfast in the cellar is one of my faves in Italy. It is the perfect location in the heart of everything. By American standards, it's kind of pricey, but the convenience and staff make it a good choice. I've taken numerous different people there over the years and all have liked it.

we stayed at this hotel the first weekend of september and had a great time you could not fault the position of this hotel, its within 10 mins walk of most of the city centre attractions. although the normal rooms are a bit small they are well equiped, we stayed in room 312 which was very large with a private terrace, if you want a hotel as a good base to see rome, and is clean, friendly, and well priced i dont think you could ask for more, we would use this hotel again.....

08/25/2007 - Hotel della Torre Argentina was very well located with easily accessible Bus service in front of the hotel that enables you to get virtually anywhere in ROME. Bus passes are available at the desk for 1 euro for a one way all day pass. The staff was not very accommodating at the start, we had to unload a family of 5 from in front of the hotel,on a very busy street in the bus lane, with no help from the "staff". After realizing that we were Italian Americans and that I spoke italian fairly well, they warmed up to us and our adult children 23,20,15 yrs of age. The parking garage was about a 10 minute walk through a maze of alleys and they also have non-standard hours of operation. I requested that I would need the car by 7am the day we were leaving ROME and they opened up early to accommodate our plans. The rooms were clean , but small with very comfortable beds made it a pleasure to return "home" after a long day walking and sightseeing and flopping on the bed. As for breakfast, it was very good and REAL espresso coffee is available by asking the waiters, instead of using the automatic coffee machine. Overall it was a good experience and I would stay there again.

I have stayed several times in Rome and my experience of RomeHotels is less than good. However this hotel proved to be very much the exception, the room was only a single but had adequate space and a good sized bathroom. Storage is a problem in most hotel rooms and again more so in singles, but this one had a good sized wardrobe although the table was rather taken up by the computer type keyboard for the TV internet. FOr a traveller who wants to be in the centre of Rome, the hotel is in an ideal position. Certainly the best hotel I have stayed in within the centre of rome by a long way.

The location of this hotel is both good and bad. The good news is that the hotel is on a major street that is easy to find and convenient to everything. The bad news is that there is a good amount of street noise that can be heard in the rooms, especially if the window is open. The street noise might have been less of an issue had I been able to figure out the air conditioning controls and been able to close the window. But I didn't. And I was too lazy to ask the front desk for help learning the a/c. Overall, very nice hotel. Decent-sized room. Decent-sized bathroom. (By European standards.) I would stay at this hotel again.
