This was our first time in Rome and we could not have chosen a better hotel for the money. We were right next to the amazing Pantheon and could easily walk everywhere in central Rome without needing to take public transport. The piazza outside was very lively and a great place for people-watching; the excellent soundproofing meant this did not spoil our sleep. Staff were very helpful, friendly. Breakfast was the usual continental mix of cereals, meat, cheese and fresh fruit. Overall, this is a well-presented, convenient hotel and we enjoyed our time there greatly.

Very nice hotel in an excellent location. Quietly seated next to the Pantheon with no traffic and within short walking distance of all major sites in the old city. Not the best kitchen, but a nice rooftop terrace and an OK bar for evening drinks.

This was our first time staying at Hotel del Senato and we absolutely loved it!! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were pleasantly greeted with a chilled bottle of champagne and a lovely card in our room, upon our arrival. We have been vacationing in the Eternal City for the past 3 summers and previously stayed all those times in a hotel nearby. We decided to change and we are so glad we did! From now on, we will recommend Hotel del Senato to family and friends... and our future stays in Rome will be there. Our stay was made more memorable by Luca's quick sense of humor, Anne's thoughtfulness, and Mauro's helpfulness,as well as the other employees' courteous hospitality. Also, there are wonderful people serving breakfast who make the best cappucino in the area!!! If possible, request a room with a view... we were on the 4th floor facing the Pantheon. Perfetto!!!! We absolutely LOVE this hotel and encourage you to plan your next stay in bella Roma with them.

We loved our stay at the Del Senato. The room was quite large, with a balcony overlooking the Pantheon and the Piazza della Rotunda! We traveled with our family, 10 in total, with 5 children in total, ages 9 thru 15, and a wonderful time was had by all. The breakfast, which was included, was spectacular. We stayed in Rome 3 nights, 4 days, and will come back as soon as we are able. What a city! Molto bene!!!

Absolutely beautiful hotel in the heart of historic centre of Rome. Best location possible for walking around and seeing the historic sites. Staff was fantastic. They took excellent care of us. Also made very good recommendations for restaurants and how to get around. Our room had a view of the piazza in front of The Pantheon. It was like we had a front row seat to a theatre at times. A little bit noisy, but when the shutters and windows were closed it almost completely drowned out the noise. We would stay here again if we ever go back to Rome.

Excellent location, in walking distance to many historical sites and near restaurants and cafes. Easy just to step outside and do some touring with no effort. Very few steps inside and out makes it easier for older or less mobile guests. Very good breakfast. Helpful and honest staff. Would ddefinitely stay again--if the prices make it affordable.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Rome, Great for walking to all the sights. The roof top terrace bar is fabulous with excellent views over Rome. The breakfast was a well stocked buffet. The price is more than you would expect to pay in other cities but about average for central Rome.

Rome first timers stop your research and just book this hotel NOW. Its perfect. As you read reviews dont get hung up on breakfast, room size etc. You want service, location and a nice view. This hotel has it all. They welcome you with open arms, and are able to help with anything you need. The location is central to all, and puts you in the essence of Rome. The view of the Rotunda and Pantheon from your window is breathtaking. Be careful because alot of hotels you have researched are down alleys and overlook alleys. This hotel is in the middle of one of the prettiest piazza's in Rome. This one is a no brainer...just book it. You can thank me when you get back.

This is my 3rd visit to Rome. The Del Senato is in a wonderful location and the rooftop terrace was delightful. Michele was great. We had a very comfortable room, though a bit small, with a lovely view. The reception clerks were somewhat formal and I thought could have been warmer and more informative. Our last morning we left for the airport very early and were not offered breakfast, although a student group who was also leaving very early had breakfast prepared for them. It would have been nice if they had offered the same to us since they knew we were also leaving early because we had booked a driver for the airport through reception. We had requested a wakeup call that morning and did not receive one. That could have been a disaster if we had not woken on our own. Internet was not always working.Very nice hotel, could be an excellent hotel, but I would have to say uneven service for the price.

our stay at hotel del senato could not have been better. the hotel itself is clean and elegant, just as all the reviews say. the staff was the best of any hotel at which i have ever stayed...friendly, courteous, charming and helpful. my first contact, ms. anna johanssen,(front desk mgr.)went out of her way to accommodate a special request before our arrival, which made our visit to rome (my wife's first) so special. we will surely return to this wonderful hotel for an extended stay next time. this is the place you want to stay!

The location is the big attraction - you could only be in Rome with those fabulous views of the Pantheon! Loved to look down on the piazza late at night when all was quiet too. We encountered very helpful staff for our 1 night stay and were given an upgrade to a superior room with a great view, plenty of space - including a lovely big bathroom. Decor is perhaps a little dated but very well maintained and certainly doesn't feel like a chain hotel. Drinks at sunset on the roof overlooking Rome are especially good. Breakfast is served in a ground floor dining room. Shame this isn't available on the roof too. The Senato is rather pricey, but we were very happy with our choice and would love to return.

This hotel is so well placed. As we were on our honeymoon they kindly upgraded us to a Junior Suite for free and we had an amazing view of the square (directly outside the Patheon). They also provided a bottle of Prosecco and fresh fruit. The hotel terrace bar is a great place to start the evening, and Michele (bar man) was really helpful with tips on places to visit in Rome. I really can't fault this hotel and we will definately stay here again when we are in Rome and i have already started recommending it to my friends and family.

First visit to Rome and chose Albergo Del Senato due to its location - excellent choice for us. Loved being in the heart of Rome. Hotel does exactly what it says it will. Beautiful roof top bar. Breakfast items were plentiful and replenished regularly. Would have liked a variety in the type of eggs available each morning, 7 days of scrambled eggs, got a bit tiresome. But hand on heart, this was the only "gripe". Next time we go to Rome, I would hope to stay at the Senato again (if we can afford it). Thank you.

We stayed 5 days. The location is unique, many sites are in walking distance. That is why the price is so high. The hotel itself is not that great: Rooms are very small, you hear neighbors taking a shower, we had to sleep with open windows (noisy) because the room was to warm and they would not turn on the air conditioning in April, breakfast had no variety during the 5 days. staff are all fine and very friendly. Next time I may take a hotel which is not that centrally localed and save half the cost. Using public transport is easy and cheap.

A fantastic place to stay in central Rome ideal for a special trip - in the middle of all the sights, great restaurants and the best coffee in town (Sant'eustache). The rooms and staff were faultless. Didn't use the dining room or bar as there are too many truely exceptional ones outside. The roof terrace looks good though (opens in June 2008). Pantheon-facing rooms are noisy but the view was worth it.

I chose Del Senato because I wanted a hotel that was centrally located to all of the activities of Rome. It was perfect for this! This was the best hotel we stayed at during our Italy trip. All hotel staff were helpful and courteous. In particular, Mauro, who worked the desk in the evening, did an outstanding job making dinner recommendations for us each evening. We really enjoyed our stay here, would pick this hotel again in the future and would recommend it to others.

Outstanding hotel. Very expensive, but location is breathtaking. You are directly beside the Pantheon. We sent our parents there for their wedding anniversary. Only minor point - remember it is called Albergo del Senato, not Hotel del Senato. Just a language thing, helps with taxis etc on arrival.

Staying at the Del Senato heightened our experience of Rome immeasurably. To throw open our windows and lean out into the Piazza, hear the fountain and people and to see the massive beauty of the Pantheon transformed my entire family. Within five minutes of our arrival our eleven-year-old daughter was sketching the Pantheon from her window. Beyond the location, the hotel staff was exceptional. There was a genuine warmth from the front desk to the wonderful bartender.....everyone seemed to care about our experience in Rome. We will be back....I hope soon!!

The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better. The only downside was that the room was very hot and we had to open the window, which was noisy. I didn't complain about this though, so maybe the hotel would have been able to help.

We stayed 4 nights at the Del Senato and could not have been more pleased. From Luca's welcome on arrival to his Arrivederci when we left it was a terrific experience. Luca also managed to find us two amazing guides, Stefano and Favio, twin brothers, who gave us two truly magnificent tours. The Vatican and Ancient Rome. Their knowledge and charming personalities gave us insights we never would have had otherwise, and it was all due to Luca's efforts on our part. The room was maybe a bit small but probably standard for Rome. It was extremely comfortable, with the most comfortable bed of all the hotels we stayed at. Neat as a pin too, and a great bathroom with hairdryer and a dual US/european socket for US electrical items. The breakfast room was beautiful and the breakfast was just what we wanted. A nice selection and lots of it. The location is perfect. The Pantheon is literally right next door and could be seen plainly from our window, but the room was still very quiet at night. The Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps and the National monument are all within easy walking distance, as were the coliseum and many other sights. The bar was very cozy and Michele the bartender was a fountain of knowledge of the area. A truly superb hotel made even better by the people who run it.

We stayed because of reviews on Trip Advisor and they were spot on correct. The hotel and staff were great and extremely helpful. They directed us very accurately to all of the historical spots we wanted to see. The breakfast very good. Our only complaint was the air conditioning which by US standards was sub par but was probably good to excellent by European standards. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. One of the complaints that I had read was the lack of a restaurant in the hotel, hay this is no problem at all since there are probably 100 good restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel.

If you want to stay in the heart of Rome this is a great hotel. Sensational view to the "piazza della Rotunda" and the "Pantheon". Better location in Rome? Impossible. Just a few minutes walking to "piazza Navona", "fontana di Trevi" or "piazza di Spagna. In the surroundings, excellent restaurants: Quinzi & Gabrielli, Rosetta, il Convivio. And, probably, the best ice cream in town, gelateria "Della Palma", just in "via della Maddalena", # 20-23. Excellent and friendly hotel staff. Not a large bedroom and bathroom. High price -- someone might say "too high" -- but if you want to stay in the heart of Rome, you have to pay the price. There's no other way that I know. First time in Rome? The most famous pizza in town is Baffeto's (open only at night). Or you could try "la Sagrestia", via del Seminario, 89, only a few steps from the hotel entrance. A lasagna , don't lose the restaurant "da Mario", in "via della Vite",# 55-56, (a little salty, but the best I have ever eaten), close to "piazza di Spagna". "Da Mario" is not an expensive restaurant. Weimar Figueiredo

This was one of the most enjoyable stays in a hotel that we have ever had. The staff is so helpful and truly upbeat. The room was spacious, immnaculately clean and the hotel's location in the heart of old Rome....with the Pantheon out the front door...was perfect for walking quickly to other destinations whether it was St Peter's, the Forum or the Spanish Steps. There are also many good restaurants and interesting shops in the immediate area. We plan to go to this hotel again and again when in Rome.

We stayed here one week in March 2007 - our first trip to Rome. The location could not be better. I especially enjoyed waking up early and watching activities in Piazza della Rotonda, with a favorite dog who made his morning rounds - including a visit to the Pantheon. The staff was friendly, accommodating, good sense of humor. Try the bar - there's a fantastic bartender who introduced us to some Roman specialty cocktails and freshly-made hors d'oeuvres with each round. Housekeeping staff actually bowed when we greeted them in the hallways. Super clean, decent size room by European standards, thoughtful turndown service. The rooms are well soundproofed - simply closing the windows keeps out the noises of the square if you so desire. We ate in the area often, trying many of the local restaurants; not one bad meal, bad service, or bad attitude in the bunch. We cannot say enough good things about this property, and we travel quite frequently. Absolutely will return, as soon as possible!

We picked this hotel on the basis of the reviews we had read, and we were not disappointed. The location of the hotel is outstanding; not only from the stunning position overlooking the Pantheon, but the proximity to all the sights. We easily walked to the Vatican and the colosseum. On our arrival at midday our room was ready (room 204 - the only room with a balcony overlooking the Pantheon, fantastic). Everyone at the hotel could not be more friendly and helpful. This was our first visit to Rome and we would definately return to the Del Senato - 10 out of 10!!!!

Stayed here for a long weekend. Fantastic location, walking distance from all popular attractions. Amazing room overlooking Pantheon - hard to drag myself away at the end of the holiday! Helpful and courteous staff who provided complimentary champagne in my room on my birthday. Was able to check in by 11am as we arrived early, and stored our luggage all day after check out, as we had a late flight. Fabulous hotel, location could not be better. The only noise was that from the piazza below but that just added to the atmosphere of being in central Rome. The standard rooms were spacious enough, especially for a central hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful - we were allocated a front of house room as requested, they sent a courtesy bottle of wine to the room for my birthday, they organised transport from and to the airport. We will most definitely stay there again. My only comment to Venere would be that as we booked and paid on departure the cost was slightly higher due to the exchange rate - however it could have gone the other way! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Having found this Hotel through this website I would just like to say SUPERB! My wife & I stayed here for her 40th birthday and were warmly welcomed by a friendly gentleman speaking fluent English, as we entered the reception he immediately knew who we were, a great start. As we arrived early (11:30am) our bags were taken into storage and he explained we could have our room within an hour, so we took this opportunity to explore the square and the amazing Pantheon and obviously sample a superb Cappucino. The view from our room (406)was fantastic, we could almost touch the Pantheon and spent many hours people watching in the square. The room was not the largest, but ample for our stay and very clean. Great shower, slippers provided and a surprise frr bottle of Champagne was presented to my wife on her actual birthday, with a hand written personal card - great touch. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice, small gripes being the juice was not 'real' and the scrambled eggs cold, otherwise a fantastic stay. We would recommend the Hotel every time and would say it would be hard to find better. The position of the Hotel meant we could walk everywhere in Rome within 20 mins - magic. Finally, after another recommendation from this sight, we found a restaurant called L'e Vie run by French missioneries, great food, service and prices. Cross the square from the Hotel, left at news stand, right then immediately left again, keep to the right side of these buildings and you will find the entrance, but blink and you may it. Hope this helps someone have as great a time as we did.

Rome is a fantastic city, that was made even more enjoyable at the Del Senato. We had a view overlooking the Pantheon which was spectacular. The room was air conditioned which at the time of the year (mid January) was very much needed! Overall, staff were wonderful, room was wonderful, city was wonderful.. altogether it was wonderful!

Although my boyfriend has been to Rome several times this was my first trip to Rome. Our stay at the Del Senato was wonderful. The location was excellent for walking to many of the ruins, museums, and restaurants and our view could not be better. Every day we saw the Pantheon and walked through the Piazza della Rotunda. The staff was very helpful and extremely professional. We will definitely stay at the Del Senato on our next trip to Rome.

This has to be by far the best located hotel in Rome. Everything about the place is fantastic we would recommend it to anyone for a break in Rome. The staff were fantastic and helpful. Go here and live like a King for a few nights.

We just retruned from a November, 2005 visit. The Del Senato was a splurge for us - but absolutly perfect. Of course the view is spectacular, and the location is excellent. But what really makes the Del Senato is the incrediably helpful staff, all the "little extra's" they provide in the room, the spectacular shower (!), and the great breakfast. It feels like a luxury hotel, without being one of those big chains - you still have the beauty of what makes Rome, Rome. Probably one of my best experiences in Europe, and I'm a fairly seasoned traveler. A side note: we booked our trip from the airport with their taxi service, and even though our plane arrived two hours late, he was waiting patiently for us. Very nice after a transatlantic flight.

Location fine and although rooms small they are adequate. Professionalism of staff mainly front desk is the least competent on any we have every experienced during our last twenty visits to room in the past eight years. Repeated mistakes such as giving our key to another guest, NOT having rides ready for departure to airport despite three reminders to desk clerk Luca to write down information n (both in Italian and engilsh) just scratch the surface of why this place should be avoided. Only bright spot on staff is excellent staff on breakfast service. They could give the front desk personal a lesson on professionalism and courtesy.

The Del Senato is a charming hotel, nice breakfast room, incredible location - you look out on the Pantheon, and the piazza has something going on a lot of the time.

Just got back today and would like to thank everyone for a great recommendation - from our window we could virtually touch the Pantheon! Hotel had great staff and was clean and nicely furnished throughout. The view from the roof terrance / bar(open April to October)was superb. The atmosphere in the square was great - we are definately going back - Dean & Christina, Manchester, England

I think that tihs hotel is very good, and will stay this hotel when I visit Rome next time. However, one of the receptionists did not answer our question concerning restaurants. He did not speak English for us. But I found that he spoke freely English with Americans. I felt a slight racial prejudice for Asians. Taxi service to the airport was reasonable and confortable.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the del Senato. The front desk staff, to a person, was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast was enjoyable and substantial with a large selection, the breakfast room staff seemed abit overwhelmed at times however. Our group included several children and it was enjoyable to see the staff interact with them and encourage them to ask for the room keys in Italian. The location is perfect for visiting Rome, we walked to everything. Michael on the roof terrace was a hit with all! We will certainly return.

Excellent location. Room was pretty quite considering it overlooked the 'Rotonda' square and Pantheon, the windows cut the noise from outside right down. Breakfast was very good, with a large choice of pasteries and fruit, as well as all the usual continental breakfast type stuff. Only small gripes were that the air-conditioning didn't have much temperature adjustment on it, but it could still be set to reasonably comfortable temperature, and the TV only had 1 English channel, but who goes to Rome to watch the telly! Rooftop bar was nice, and reasonably priced when compared to most of the cafes on the local streets. Safety deposit box in the room was free to use. Overall I'd recomend it!!

This hotel was one of my favorites while we were in Italy. This hotel is not only very nice, but has THE BEST location in Rome in our opinion. First of all, it is centrally located. We walked to just about everything we wanted to see (or when our feet hurt, the cab ride is cheap). Tons of places to eat nearby, both expensive and inexpensive. The surrounding area is nice, but not so nice you feel like you need to be wearing Armani to leave the hotel (but you could if that's your thing). Also, the hotal is right on the Piazza Della Rotunda, which is a small piazza in front of the pantheon. This piazza is perfect, because there is always activity, but it is not a really noisy piazza--there is no automobile traffic (except the occasional cab), so no car noise and no smelly exhaust. Just the sound of people at the cafes and the fountain in the middle of the piazza. Always good people watching, even at night there's lots of activity in the piazza. If you didn't want to hear the piazza sounds, closing your window did the trick completely--the windows completely blocked any noise. Our room had air conditioning too, not always found in Italy. The room in general was nice (if maybe a little small by US standards--but average in Italy). Very nice dark hardwood floors, modern clean bathroom, with a full size tub and shower, hairdryer. Our room had very tall ceilings and very tall windows (perhaps 6 feet tall??). The service in Del Senato is great, all very friendly, helpful, speak enlish if you need it. Breakfast was phenomenal for Italy. Choice of any number of pastries, cakes, scrambled eggs, meats (ham, prosciutto, salami), cereal, rolls, fruit. Tea, coffee (all varieties), juice, milk to drink. Very good. Another plus was the computer/internet in the lobby. This hotel was totally worth every penny we spent, and I wouldn't hesitate to come again (and stay longer).

Great hotel, great location, especially if you get a room facing the Pantheon. Love the roof bar where you can have a cocktail gazing at the Roman skyline. Have stayed here 5 or 6 six times now and will continue to do so. Good value for quality and location.

This Hotel overlooking the Pantheon at night was terrific, the roof terrace was so relaxing while watching the sun set over St Peter's dome. The location made walking to all of the major sites possible and being in the historic area with limited vehicles made the location very quiet. We had a group of 4 couples and everyone loved this Hotel and would highly recommend it to their friends.

The hotel was very nice. It was my first time to this hotel--I was bringing a friend and her daughter so I need a triple. The location was great and close to everything. Due to rain we never got to see the roof top bar. When I return in May with my husband we will stay here as I liked the location better then the Spanish steps were we always stay.

This was undoubtedly our best choice of hotel during a recent trip to Europe; the hotel was charming, and the location was great! It was nice to know that even after long days out and about, we were never too far from Del Senato to get back and enjoy a drink on the rooftop terrace....before heading off again to dine in that wonderful area. Our experiences were only good, and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Rome! Thank you all.

This was the best of the three hotels we stayed at during our Italy trip. They were also the most inexpensive. During our stay I lost me cell phone and they made several phone calls ultimately resulting in my phone being found. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful and the cold breakfast was outstanding. I will tell everyone I know that this is the place to stay when in Rome.

We Loved our stay at Del Senato. Because the hotel is next to a major landmark in Rome, the Pantheon, there were almost always taxis waiting nearby. To most places it was only a 5-6 Euro taxi ride. Our room was very nice with 11 ft ceilings and very rich damask fabric covering the walls as wallpaper. The wood floor in the room was very nice as well. The breakfast was wonderful especially the delicious cappuccino! We will definately stay here again!

We have returned many times to Rome and always stay in the historic center. This was by far our best experience. The staff is excellent - courteous, professional, very helpful. We were greeted warmly by name. Our room was spacious and beautifully furnished with a painted mural overhead - lovely. The location - directly across from the pantheon - is the best in the city. Don't miss the roof terrace bar - great for a cool drink and one of the best views of Rome. We will certainly return to Albergo Del Senato.
