The room was €220 a night with the jacussi. I thought it was a suiet at this price but it was just your basic room with a bath type jacuzzi. You can walk around the bed but that's it! It was close to the vatican but I think been close to the trevi fountain area would of been better myself

The hotel was described as having AC which it did not and could have really done with it, even more so in the summer I would think. Overall the hotel was good and as described although a bar area would have been nice.

This was a very pleasant, well maintained hotel. The location was good particularly for those who wish to see the Vatican area. Other areas are accessible on foot or by metro. The hotel had a nice breakfast area with a good selection of food. All the staff were very pleasant even when we returned in the early hours of the morning. One general tip if you are planning to use the metro: it shuts rather early. One night we walked from the other side of Rome having come out of the opera only to find it closed for the night and not a taxi in sight!

The hotel is small but intimate and very elegant. One caveat though, the beds are extrememly hard, they refer to it as "orthopedic" so if you cannot sleep in a hard bed, do not stay here.

Staff very friendly and helpful with reservations, transportation, directions, advice, etc. Breakfast enjoyable everyday--learned to like espresso. My room was remarkably quiet eventhough fronting on busy street. Near Vatican and Metro with some fine restaurants and many services in the neighborhood. Great location for exploring the city. Comfortable, quiet, friendly, great location, I highly recommend Hotel Dei Consoli and look forward to visiting again.

Our room was on the 3rd floor and our shower was not very powerfu1!Our daughter was on the 1st floor and said she had no problems whatsoever.Room service was mentioned in the literature in the room but there was no information given as to what was available. Breakfast is served in the bar area which is a little small.Apart from these small niggles we would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rome. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel is easily found and centre to many shops. We will definately return when visiting Rome again.

We spend our honeymoon at Dei Consoli and booked a special honeymoon package. The Champagne and flowers that met us when we arrived the hotel gave us an excellent start on our honeymoon. The staff is very friendly and the location next to the Vatican was very nice. We will stay at Dei Consoli next time we go to Rome.

I stayed four days at this hotel and throughly enjoyed it. It was a 10 minute walk to Vatican Museum, and 15 to St. Peter's Basilica. Many restaurant options within walking distance as well as shopping, bakeries and the metro line. The only minor issue was the directions from the metro stop were unclear. I called from my cell phone while at the metro stop and the desk person really did not give good direcctions. This could easily be resolved by either stating clearly the directions on the site or at the least having desk personnel be able to give clear and concise directions as the hotel is only about five blocks from the metro. All hotel staff were courteous, and helpful. The rooms, and public areas were immaculate.

Hotel Dei Consoli could not have been any better as far as we were concerned. My sister and I took my two older teenaged children to Rome and requested 2 twin bedded rooms at the hotel. Although other reviews have stated that the rooms are small, I would have to say that they are no different to the majority of european hotel rooms - compared to English ones they were actually bigger! The furnishings and atmosphere of the hotel leave you in no doubt that you are in a superior hotel where quality and service are taken seriously. The staff are without doubt the most pleasant, helpful people we encountered in our month long trek around Europe! My only hesitaiton is that if I recommend this hotel too highly, they won't have room for us when we want to visit again! Faultless...and very handy for the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's.

I really enjoyed my stay at Dei Consoli. I came with just my daughter and hoped to come again with 2 sons and my husband but the only option is to rent 2 rooms, splitting the family and doubling the hotel expense. I loved the location, literally steps from the Vatican and St. Peters. Also just steps from a bus hub where you can get anywhere in the city if you know the right bus. The gentleman on duty the day we arrived was very gracious and friendly and a wealth of knowledge on Rome, good local resteraunts and the public transportation. The hotel is smallish but very lovely and clean (I'm anal about this so you can believe me). The gentleman who served us breakfast was also very friendly, spoke wonderful English and had lots of tips for our short stay. Breakfast was good with lots of variety. I would stay at Dei Consoli again, if I need just one room and would recommend it highly to anyone.

This was our third stay at the Consoli, and it continues to be excellent in every way. The staff is wonderful, the breakfast is great, the hotel is clean and quiet. It's a perfect location if you want to visit the Vatican, and you can walk or subway to everything else. And it's nicely decorated for Christmas.

A friend of mine and I stayed here on September 3, 2005. We were greeted by a porter who made sure our luggage was delivered to our room. The hotel is beautiful. We paid 120 euros for the night. Unfortunately, we were to have two twin beds, but only a king was available. The room was very clean and the air conditioning worked great. The hotel exceeded my expectations, especially for the price. The only down side was the room was on the side of the hotel and faced the main street and I could hear the cars zooming by all night long. It didn't keep me a wake, but woke me up a couple of times. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but would ask that the room be located away from the traffice noise of the main street. The hotel is in a great location to the Vatican and St Peters. Lots of shops for shopping and several restaurants close by. The staff was friendly and helpful, with the exception of one cold woman who was often on the front desk during the days. She really needs some lessons in interpersonal skills. Just a minor complaint as the rest of the staff more than made up for one person's deficiencies. This is a great place and I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Rome.

Allg.

Venere.com with its feedback section gave us an excellent idea of what to expect at Hotel dei Consoli. This was invaluable as it was our first trip to Rome. Its location of 5 mins walk from St. Peter's Square was excellent, there is plenty of shopping & excellent Roman cuisine nearby,& if the mood takes you, all the major attractions of ancient Rome are within comfortable walking distance. Like the other comments posted, it is worthwhile plumbing for the jacuzzi bedroom for the (slightly) extra space & the soothing, soaking effect after all that walking! Those of a taller stature will not be able to enjoy an all over soak however. All the hotel staff we found to be excellent, with a friendly manner and a far better grasp of the English language than our Italian. Breakfasts were enjoyable with the option of a couple of tables out on a small balcony. There is no public area (e.g. bar) for the evening time, but it provides an excellent excuse to sample the local tavernas & bars. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Dei Consoli to anyone, & we will use it again ourselves on our return to the Eternal City.

Hotel was excellent - in a wonderful position. Very convenient for the Vatican/St. Peters and close to the metro station. Staff were very helpful and the hotel extremely elegant! We had noted people complain about the size of rooms - but really this was not a problem, although we did book a room with the jacuzzi. Would recommend it!

I stayed at the Hotel Dei Consoli in mid November & it was wonderful. I had a single room, which was small but very comfortable, quiet and immaculately clean. The room also had a thermostat which allowed me to control the heat & air conditioning. The hotel staff was welcoming, kind, informative and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful. The same fare was offered every morning, but it was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The hotel is in the Vatican neighborhood, which we found to be the perfect location - a lively area with lots of shops, fantastic restaurants, outdoor markets, subway stations close by, & of course, is just a few blocks away from the Vatican. Overall, I loved staying at the Hotel Dei Consoli & highly recommend it!

Generally wehad a good stay at HdC. Pleasant and helpful staff. Excellent location: 5-10 min walk to the Vatican, walkable distance to almost all other tourist spots. However, it would have been a perfect stay if we were provided with a decent sized room. The room, which we were assigned, apart from its good conditions, was skeptically a single room with a double bed. There was even not enough space to open two lugguages at the same time. Our request to swap room was not turned down due to full house.

The hotel is well located in a quiet, upscale residential neighbourhood a few minutes walk from the Vatican. It's an easy and pleasant 15 minute walk to the Piazza del Popolo and about 20 minutes to the Piazza di Spagna. I particulary enjoy staying in this area of Rome as it's away from the noise and crowds of the centro storico, but still within walking distance. The nearest metro at Ottaviano is 4 blocks away. I had one of the "deluxe" rooms. It was a moderate size and spotlessly clean. The decor was in a lovely conservative, traditional Roman style. The staff were friendly and helpful, with the exception of one cold and clueless woman who was often on the front desk. One morning she informed me that the buses and metro weren't running due to a strike. I promptly walked around the corner and caught the bus. She was incapable of something as simple as booking me a taxi the morning I left. This, however, is a minor complaint as the rest of the staff more than made up for one person's deficiencies. I have no hesitation if recommending the Hotel dei Consoli.

Having spent a long time surfing the net for a reasonably priced good class hotel in Rome, we decided to book a three night stay at the Dei Console. This proved to be an excellent choice,Freindly informative staff,The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food, cereals and pastries. We booked a superior double room which was very well appointed and spotlessly clean ,the bed linen and towels etc. were changed daily.Although checkout is at 11.00 am the hotel provides a luggage room for guests leaving later in the day,and provide all porterage. The hotel is located about five minutes walk from St Peters and the Vatican, and very close to the metro. All in all an excellent base for seeing Rome I highly reccomend it to anyone.and would certainly stay rhere again

This a small well run hotel. The cleanliness of our room was excellent, although the room as many hotels in Rome wasa little on the small side, but adequate for our needs. The breakfast is very good with a good range of food offered. Whilst the hotel does not provide evening meals, there is an Hosteria which is directly opposite the hotel where the food and service are excellent and resonably priced. We will definately return to the hotel later this year.

The hotel was very nice, and in particular, the desk staff was outstanding. Due to an unfortunate situation, my husband began ill while away, and the staff could not do enough for me and went beyond the call of duty with assisting me in various situations. Therefore, I would recommend the hotel just for that reason. The only thing lacking was there was no type of room service beyond the breakfast served, and it would have been nice if you could have gotten a cocktail in the lounge area where the breakfast was served at the end of the day either after dinner or spending the day sightseeing.

What can we say but we loved the hotel, it is ideally situated in a lovely part of Rome (that is, west of the Tiber), just ten mins walk from St Peters. The beds are comfy, the breakfast superb and the staff friendly - and the jacuzzi at the end of the day was a godsend. Definitely get one of these rooms if you can afford the extra euros. Hotel is easy to drive to and parking can be arranged by the hotel - 23€ per night. All in all a wonderful place to stay in Rome.

Dei Consoli is a jewelbox! I stayed twice and it is undoubtedly the absolute best hotel I've every stayed at in Roma. I felt as though I was staying at a rich uncle's home which had terrific staff. There was great attention to detail in the design from the inlaid wood furnishings in the foyer and the rooms to the Murano chandeliers in the breakfast room. I look forward to staying there again. The fresh bufalo mozzarella/pastry store next door is an added bonus.

I travelled as a single with another couple and had reserved a double for them and a single for myself. On arrival I found my room far too small to spend 3 nights in, even though it was beautifully furnished. The double room my friends took was excellent with a great view. I was able to switch to a beautiful double room for single use at an additional 30 euros a night and this was wonderful. The hotel is exquisite and the staff most obliging. Location was fantastic, as were the breakfasts. I have visited Rome many times over the years and if fortunate enough to return I will certainly stay at Dei Consoli.

Very nice little hotel within a five minute walk of St. Peter's and the Vatical Museum. Also, very close to some great shopping. Only negative is that there are only a small number of restaurants in the vicinity. Overall, very nice hotel.

Dei Consoli is a nice hotel located very close to the Vatican. Our honeymoon was greeted with a nice surprise at the hotel room. The interior decoration in this hotel is very pleasing. Enjoying a good italian cappuchino in the small breakfast room was a very nice way to start the day. And coming home to a nice warm bath in the jacuzzy after a full day in museums and busy streets was equally a nice way to end the day. Definitely a nice hotel that I would recommend to anyone.

The hotel proved to be what we thought it would be. A good location within walking distance of all main tourist attractions. Good, reasonably priced, restaurants near by for eating. The only negative point was that there was no bar. We would recommend the hotel and would stop there again if in Rome.

The Dei Consoli is an excellent, small boutique hotel close to the Vatican. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff in the breakfast area were also very good. Would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Rome.

It was a very beautiful room. It seemed that however, there was a problem about sound isolation. The female staff of a hotel was the very more wonderful one. She is very able and great.

I loved this place! After a long exhausting 2 week vacation in Italy, this hotel was a slice of heaven! We stayed the last two nights of our vacation and it was by far the best! The bed was sooooo comfortable, the room was completely soundproof even though we were on a very busy street, and the jacuzzi in the room was just what my tired feet needed after a day of sightseeing. Splurge and get the jacuzzi in the room! We are recommending this hotel to all our friends! I almost forgot - it is in a great location too! Very close to the Vatican, but an easy walk to all the sights!

The room was very clean. It was very convenient also to shopping area or Vatican City very closely. The staff's level was also high and FRIENDLY. I want to use very much again, when going to Rome.

Handy for the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's. About two minutes from Metro Ottaviano, and ten minutes to the Spanish Steps. Very quiet street opposite a great restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was pleased to see the hotel listed in "Top 10 Rome" business hotels. Excellent range of foods for breakfast. Shame the bar was closed!

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and so quiet. We stayed in the superior room with the jacuzzi bath, which was wonderful after a day walking around Rome. If we go back to Rome, we will definitely stay there again and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to friends. Thank you for a great weekend.

Very nice hotel Great service and friendly staff. Rooms are small so I am glad that we reserved a junior suite. Location excellent--very close to Vatican and metro for getting anywhere in room. Also really good (and inexpensive) restaurants nearby.

We were very satisfied with the hotel. It was everything that the advertisements said it was. Each concierge at the desk was extremely helpful, spoke perfect English, and were very friendly and charming. We would stay there again. The location was great, close to the Vatican Vatican Museum, St. Peter's and the river. These were positive features. Also, the location was quiet. Try to stay in one of the suites; they were roomier than the regular rooms.

The cleanliness, staff, location all are excellent. The only drawback, though minor, is that the rooms are small. Everything is modern and up-to-date. The breakfast is delicious and professionally served. We would stay here again. If you stay at Dei Consoli, be sure to eat at the Taverna across the street.

The room was advertized as a "double for single use" but I think 2 people would have to harm each other in so small a room. Everything else was top notch.

There is only one thing that was really bad - the space in the room. The room was extremly small!!! It was difficault to get to the window without walking on bed. The location is excellent. In general I can recommand this hotel for a weekend trip.

I reserved two rooms. It's a nice small hotel very near Vatican and shops. Also convenient to metro station. Rooms were very clean but very small. One room had only a shower (I should have checked first, I assumed all rooms would at least have a bath in a four star hotel). Staff very nice. Breakfast was pleasant continental style. The reception area is TINY. I enjoyed my stay and would return.

This is a very comfortable hotel, located in a mixed business-residential area of Rome near St. Peter's and the Vatican museums. The room was small, but very nicely decorated. The bathroom, especially the shower, was one of the best we've had in Italy. Breakfast was great. The one problem with the hotel is location - it's a hike to the tourist sights beyond the Vatican. However, the subway is about four blocks away which can be used to get closer to the sights.

My wife and I spent a weekend at Dei Consoli. Transport from the airport to the hotel was booked for us, at our request, by the hotel. We were welcomed by a very pleasant and competent 'receptionist'. The hotel was excellently situated for our purpose which was to visit St. Peter's. The Basilica is within ten minutes walk of the hotel. The hotel is situated in a quiet street and so there was no external noise in our room. Our slight concern of lunch and dinner was dispelled by a Taverna across the road. The service too was excellent. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfartable. It would have been nice to have a bit more space at the foot of our bed and in the bathroom, but otherwise, the room we occupied was excellent. We had a great stay and a sound nights sleep. We will certainly return here and can unreservedly recommend this hotel.

Basically a small hotel well located close to the Vatican. Rooms are miniscule but comfortable and clean. Bathroom small but kept very clean. Price permitting, choose rooms with jacuzzi, bit more space. No dining facilities/bar, but breakfast is perfect. Couples OK, not for families. If you want a base for sight-seeing, you will not be disappointed.
