De Petris is a good hub hotel for walkers, metro users and bus users. Connections all within two blocks. Pharmacy, bancomat(atm), and laundromat/internet cafe within 5 minute walk. De Petris is a distributed hotel. That is rooms are located on various floors through various doors shared with other hotels in the same building. This ultimately means you can be very far from the internet WiFi routers in many of the rooms. There are internet sweet spots in the lobby and the garden breakfast area which you can use throughout the day. They definitely need an upgrade as the other hotels in the building have superior signal strength throughout. The water was hot, the air conditioning cold what more could a Canadian want. Luiggi speaks the best english and therefore gives the best advice on where and what to eat. Ciao Luiggi!

We had two different triple rooms at De Petris. Our first room was in the older section of the hotel on the 4th floor and required the use of the small lift. The room was a bit dated and the carpet was old but the air conditioning was excellent. After we came back from a short stay in Florence, we were given a room in the new section. The room was smaller but much cleaner and more modern. The staff was great (especially Emanuela)and the location was central and convenient to all.

Modern and spacious hotel room for 3 persons with TV and comfortable beds, convenient lightning. Tha bathroom was super and even with a TV. The location was super and within short (10 min) walking disrance to places like the Spanish steps, Fontana di Trevi, Metro, Pantenon etc. Highl recommended hotel for a tourist's stay in Rome.

We enjoyed our staty at the Hotel De Petris. We stayed in the two rooms on the 5th floor that had a spacious covered terrace. The hotel is close to the metro stop and near the major sites in Rome. Breakfast was very nice and included hard boiled eggs.

This was my third stay at this hotel. the first time we had a splendid room, the second time we had a nice room, this time we had a smaller room, especially as far as the bathroom is concerned. So, we were a bit disappointed. This being said, the hotel offers very good facilities, is very well run and very clean. last time we found the breakfast room too small, this has been enlarged, resolving the congestion problem. Above all, the location is outstanding in the centre of Rome and the price is quite reasonable for that location. So, even if a bit disappointed this time, I would probably return there.

The location was superb! Walking distance to everything, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Borghese Gallery, Pantheon....EVERYTHING. The front desk staff left very little to desire for. Simply put, they were not nice and every time we needed something (code for internet, computer use, directions) they acted like we were bothering them. The rooms were not the largest but they were ok, the bathrooms were TINY and the shower even smaller. Standard rooms are definetely NOT large enough for a couple and a child. The carpets in the rooms were filthy, bring slippers! The breakfast was good and the wait staff were very nice and helpful. Overall, I rate this hotel 6.5 out of 10.

Hotel was a nice balance - basic & small rooms compared to American standards, but great location (we walked everywhere & enjoyed seeing the nearby Trevi Fountain on our return or beginning of each venture), nice & helpful staff that all spoke English, good breakfast, & internet is available. For the past 7 years I've traveled to Italy twice a year, flying into Rome and staying anywhere from a few weeks to a few nights. I look for the best quality room at the best price in the best location. Generally rooms in this price range are dissappointing. But, Hotel De Petris Is A Find! This year I booked 2 single rooms. One for myself and my travel companion. When we arrived we were upgraded to double rooms for the single price. The rooms were totally restructured with all new finishes and furnishings. The airconditioning was the best of our entire trip, king sized bed most comfortable, rooms had large windows for light yet were quiet for sleeping. There was a flat screen tv in the bedroom and my room had an additional flatscreen in the bathroom. De Petris even allows access to the lobby's computer with internet free for up to 15 min. Jump on the opportunity to stay at Hotel De Petris while it's relatively new and unknown. It's very difficult to find affordable quality and location in this area of Rome. The hotel lobby is not posh or large but it is nice and the staff helpful. Bernini Fountain, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navonna, Spanish Steps and Pantheon all a short walk. It is possible to walk to the train station depending on your stamina and the amount of baggage you bring. Taxi recommended for us older folk. Do not miss La Sacristia Pizzeria Restaurant near the Pantheon (closed Tuesday's). It's not a touristic rip off. The kitchen is clean and it's the best Cucina de Mama food in the area. The locals eat there And there is no cover charge added to the bill. Also good but pricier is Anthony's across from Hotel Pantheon and Nino's near Spanish Steps. Buon Vacanza!

It was a beautiful hotel, the best one that we have stayed in so far in Italy! The location was only a 2min walk from the Trevi Fountain and the room was huge. Good location, walking distance to several sites. Personnel could have been friendlier upon arrival. Were helpful with directions. Parking is non existant at the property. Must use public garage about 15 minute drive but a only a 10 minute walk. Double room was okay, bed pillows were very flat. Nice breakfast. Request room away from the street side, street noise can be heard in room. Garmin GPS took us to the property as written directions can use improvement. Would stay there again.

Clientele: Tourists / visitors to see and study Rome and the different old buildings. Our first time at De Petris. The hotel needs a small bar serving coffee, drinks, snacs and perhaps a sandwich in the evening from 18.00 hour to 23.00 or 24.00 I think a "nightcup" would be nice for guests returning from their dinner outside the hotel.

This was our first visit to Rome and the hotel was ideal for seeing the city on foot as all sights were within walking distance. Thrilled with small sitting room adjoining bedroom. Bathroom clean and bright but shower cubicle was rather cramped. We had read that the hot water ran out in the mornings but it didn't for us! Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and good coffee. The quaint little lift mentioned in previous reviews has been joined by a new sleek glass state of the art lift with lots of room. Staff efficient if a little punctilious. Housekeeping were confused by our return for a siesta in temperatures of 32 degrees! A great little convenient place to be based.

Hotel De petris was ideally situated. All of the major sights and attractions were all within walking distance and the hotel was in the middle of all of them. Our room was fabulous too! We think we were upgraded yet unsure why. We were given a room which has a split level, a sitting room above the bedroom. All very modern with 3 plasma t.v's in it no less. Bathroom was equally as good (t.v also)very modern and clean. Staff friendly/helpful yet not too gushy which I prefer, not false. Breakfast was plentiful and saw us right through til dinner which is astounding considering we covered about 16 miles on foot in a day. Only thing I would say is that breakfast room could do with updating a little but nothing that would stop us from returning. Our first visit to Rome and we really dropped on here I feel. Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and Pantheon are litterally on the doorstep. Can also recommend a lovely little restaurant on route to the Trevi Fountain from hotel called 'Taberna', nothing overated, just good pasta/pizza/value and friendly staff. House Red not bad either. If ever returning to Rome will have no hesitation to stay at the same hotel.

10 min walk to Trevi fountain. Staff very helpful with maps, tour info. Bathroom & bed ok by EU standards. Breakfast better than expected. AC didn't work but not a problem in May. Double pane glass really cut out street noise. Price charged was exact price quoted by Venere. Hotel doesn't have any large areas so photos don't convey the look very well. Still a nice looking property and I was very satisified.

Nice hotel but the price per night was too much, the breakfast so so, the shower very very tiny. The electricity went out one day, this meant: no elevator, no shower, no breakfast, still paid full price. Excelent location though.

We stayed with my mum in this hotel for 7 days. As a general rule in Italy, the lobby was impressive, but the room was not. Our beds had no proper springers and we had to wait for 5 minutes before getting warm water in the shower. It is very centrally located which was the main point for us. Very nice breakfast with an efficient staff. I would advise this hotel to people that are not too fussy when it comes to comfort and noise. For 90 Euros per night that was "OK", for 120 (non-reduced price) it would have been overpriced.

My wife and I were on a 3 week trip to Italy. Our last stop was Rome. We thought Hotel De Petris was a great location for our needs. The room we had was big, but not what we expected! The room had just been remodeled, but not completed. There was a small mirror in the bathroom, very little lighting, and no place to hang up our towels. The remodel was far too modern for Rome!! The morning we were leaving, there was no cold water!! Usually there's no hot water!! Overall, the staff was great, the breakfast was great, but we were very disappointed with our room, and the price we paid for it!

The room was very clean and nicely decorated. It was very comfortable. The employees were helpful and well informed. I was traveling with my husband and we are in our 60's. It was walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the tour bus. The taxi trip into the hotel was 50E and the trip back to the FCO Airport was discounted at 35E. I would stay again. There was no internet access. They were remodeling but it was of no inconvenience. Great Hotel! Great Price!

Location is very good, well connected but not too close to the Termini station. Price was ok considering the prices in Rome. It's on a quiet street so traffic don't bother too much. Si volvemos a Roma no repetiremos.

This was our 1st time in Rome and at the beginning ,the hotel seemed ample except for the elevator which is a hazard and a joke. It would not be wide enough for a wheelchair much less a family with luggage. We should have known it was going to be a problem when on our first day, we called the front desk to alert them that our tv had no channels and they told us we had to pull out the tv and hook up the cable ourselves. The bathroom was fine if limited for counter space. The shower was hot with good pressure but the door was some odd configuration that resulted in floods all over the bathroom floor. The hotel staff was not knowledgeable at all. One lady directed us to the bus stop and told us the # of the bus but she never said what direction to travel in and could not tell us when it left or provide us with any other info at all. It got worse with each conversation or request that we had with the staff. We asked for an iron 4x and never received one. We needed assistance in making a call to America and after several attempts finally told the front desk that there was a problem with the phone. They never mentioned that a problem with the phone would prevent our 5:45am wake up call not to happen. We were 45 minutes late for the airport and received no assistance from the overnight attendant at all with regards to making up for lost time. He did not even offer an apology for the error. Instead, he yelled back at me and told me it was my fault for not telling them earlier that there was a problem with the phone. All in all, the hotel was not even worth the money we paid. If I were you, I would choose another hotel.

On the positive side, the bed was excellent, the coffee tremendous, and the location unbeatable. The room was clean, the housekeeping staff do a great job. With one exception the staff were great, but one surly, sulky, rude young woman on reception soured the experience. I've given a fairly low grade for quietness, and I wouldn't expect it any other way in this great location - at least as far as street noise goes. But one night we had to endure a spectacularly loud and abusive North American brawl in a room on our floor. It continued unabated until about 4am. I think even the thickest walls wouldn't have been able to deal with that, so it's a bit difficult to judge room quietness in those conditions. On the negative side. Size matters. We stayed for 5 days and felt pretty claustrophobic by day 3. The room was tiny, just enough room to skirt around the very comfortable bed.The shower was miniscule. One had to jump in, get wet, jump out to lather up, then jump back in again to rinse. The only space smaller than this was the elevator, but that was just funny, not really a negative unless you want to transport 2 suitcases. Which is something you are likely to do in a hotel, so not terribly amusing after all. It's Rome, Rome's expensive, you get what you pay for blah blah.

I was pleased with the room but the access was difficult through the lift, which was too small and difficult to get in and out of. Overall the stay was fair. I did not find the desk staff very helpful, although it appeared they were trying. Especially upsetting was that we wanted to postpone our visit by one day, still wanting to stay the two days. We found the hotel unwilling to work with our schedule, even though we would have stayed the agreed-upon number of nights. I understand that we agreed to make any changes before Sunday -- however that's a long time before we wanted the room and we agreed because we didn't feel we had a choice. We hoped that your staff would agree to accommodate our changes, but they refused to do so or even discuss it.

My stay at the Hotel De Petris was overall extremely sastifactory. I had a room on the 4th floor with a terrace/balcony. In April, the temperature was cool, so no need for the AC. We slept with the windows open, and there was NO noise whatsoever. Amazing, considering the hotel is 3 minutes away from Trevi Fountain. Via Rasella is simply one of the quietest streets in the heart of Rome. The only thing heard at night were the church bells of Rome sounding every 15 minutes. Lovely feeling. You get a sense of the old Rome, before all of the auto's. The buffet style breakfast was excellent as well. Many times it seemed to be the best meal of the day. Our room had 2 twin beds, and each one was like new. The room price (190 Euro) seemed a little steep by USA standards, but worth it for the location. Within literally a 2 minute walk, you are at the Barbarini Metro station. There is a really a nice Internet Cafe at the Barbarini Square. I would definitely stay here again. Our "first" room was dark and small. So we asked to change, and they accept. Anyway, the price seems high compared to other places.

Very nice hotel and great location. just a 3 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain, shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and they do have an elevator albeit small. The hotel was not overly warm arrival, but did answer questions etc.

Hotel is located very centrally - within walking distance of all the tourist attractions - Hotel was good value for money but rooms were quite small.

We booked on thursday afternoon and arrived on friday. The De Petris was just perfect for a short-trip. Central located, clean and a very friendly staff. I would recommend it. Due to the thin walls we woke some of the other guests up when came home at 3 a.m.

The only problem with this hotel was the noise from outside. At 11pm until 3-4am each night very loud music and singing came from somewhere close to the hotel

I would definitely recommend the De Petris. Our room was clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. It was not cheap, but was certainly reasonable by Rome standards. The location was good in terms of proximity to major sights (especially the Trevi Fountain) - the road the hotel is on is not particularly attractive but we never felt unsafe walking back at night. The only complaint I would have was that most of the staff weren't especially friendly and on arrival noone showed us the lounge (which we only discovered when we checked out!) or the breakfast room. On the whole a good place to stay.
