the hotel is in a quite street and the service offered is very good for the price paid... the rooms are a bit small and the shower doesn't have the curtain but it's not difficult to have a shower and you don't flood the room! the breakfast is not excellent.. everything is packed (jams, croissants, rusks but my general review is very good! we were 4 couples of friends and we had a great time in Rome. The hotel is very close to Termini station and to the Metro/buses station so you can reach every part of Rome in a hurry!

The hotel staff went above and beyond for us. Arranged transportion from the airport, personally responded to emails when the hotel system failed and recommended great local restaurants.

The hotel may have been apartments that were renovated into rooms. They could have added a few extra feet to the bathroom. The biggest complaint was the bathroom. My hip would touch the wall when I sat on the toilet. There was no shower curtain either, so when you take a shower, the water goes all over the floor/bathroom. The bathroom fits a toilet, sink, and shower in about a 6'x3' area. The breakfast is not good at all. The yogurt sat out all night/day, I was scared to use the milk, and the bread was a little old. I know that because of the bread and butter rolls I had to fill up on just to get the day started. Lastly, the sewage smell that was in my parents room was nauseating. They told the front desk about it right after check-in, but the hotel staff couldn't do anything about it. When it was time to checkout, they wouldn't even knock a few bucks off the bill for the inconvenience. Beware of this hotel. We navigated through Italy for 2 weeks, staying at 6 different hotels with next to no complaints, and this one was the worst. I am not a nitpicky person and believe in a fair shake, but beware... especially if you get the room closest to the elevator. I picked this hotel because it was Easter weekend, it was close to the train station, and almost everything was booked that was at the $100/night budget I was trying to keep. I will make sure to spend a few extra $$ if I need to the next time.

We I arrived to the hotel early at night time. The friendly employees looked at our reservation form from "vener.com" and provided us the rooms at once. Me and my family were very satisfied with the quality of the people administrating this hotel who didn't waste any help to make our stay happy and successful. The hotel was safe "observed by security cameras", quite, clean and daily observed by the young ladies managing the cleaning of the rooms and the facilities. The breakfast was efficient and exceeds the standers of the continental well-known breakfast. We stayed six nights in Rome, and then we traveled to Turin. When we made our way back, this hotel was our preferred place to stay. Accordingly, we stayed more three nights at Cortorillo. At the end of our trip, the hotel recommended us a taxi car which was good and comfortable to travel in to the airport, looks that the driver knows the roads and the airport terminals very well which helped us in reaching the airport in short and accurate time. Thanks to the owner of the hotel for the warm hospitality, Radho (who really knows and understands how to manage this work), Sergio, Luca and all employees in this hotel for the friendly and helpful efforts. I would recommend this hotel as one of the best small hotels in Rome for its location, service, comfort of stay and for the quality of people working in it. Thanks to vener.com for the trusted information.

Both of the lads who manned the reception desk could not have been more friendly and helpful. The same must be said of the lady who served in the breakfast room (although she spoke no English) and be amazed to be astounded if you ask for "un caffe grande". The breakfat room is a pretty claustrophobic extension of the reception area and offers only the most basic of "continental" breakfasts. The room, while maintained spotlessly during our five day stay with a very generous supply of towels throughout, was pretty small for a double and once or twice we suffered from loud voices in the adjacent room but with our outlook onto a courtyard, no noise from outside. Not unusually for this part of Rome, the reception is on the street while the hotel accommodation occupies the fifth floor of the block with the entrance around the corner in a courtyard, the entrance being signalled by a sign, "Pension Cortorilla" which just about says it all. Enjoyable though our stay was, it was made so by the fact that we are frequent visitors to Rome and are prepared to make the best of what we encounter at each visit and although charming in its way and as friendly as the staff were, I would have difficulty in attributing three star rating to this hotel.

We are husband and wife, middle age travelers. POSITIVES: The hotel actually exceeded our expectations. It's located only 5 min. walk from the train station and subway and within 10 min walking distance to Santa Maria Maggiore (where you can take an open bus tour), 30 min walk to Collosseum, Forum, Pantheon, etc. The staff, young Romanian guys, was very friendly, all understand English. Radu speaks English fluently and he is very helpful. Breakfast was simple but not bad at all. We stayed 2 times over 1 week and both times the rooms were clean and hot water in the shower was always present. Bill was the same as price quoted on venere.com (no surprises!). BONUS: you can use free internet in the lobby. NEGATIVES: air conditioners and small fridges were weak, no shower curtains, you can hear other guests depending on your room location. CONCLUSION: highly recommended for budget travelers, will stay again.

Hotel Cortorillo was located close to the train station, very convenient. Took us a few minutes to find it due to Rome's unusual address numbering on streets. More complete directions (cross streets) would be helpful. Staff were very friendly and helpful, always someone there. Eleana did a great job with the coffee machine at breakfast. Food was mainly packaged pastries, melba toast etc but it was nice to get fruit and yogurt. Bathroom was very small but adequate. A shower curtain in shower to prevent the rest of the bathroom getting soaked would be nice. Room was small, wardrobe door was broken, the rest of the room was in good condition. There was an elevator up to the room which saved a lot of stair climbing. The hotel was walking distance to all the main tourist sites and the metro station. Italian hotels are not like North American hotels so if that is what you want then stay at an American chain hotel. It will cost you lots more and you won't really see Italy. This hotel is great if you want to experience Italy. Atmosphere was friendly and safe. We would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Room was in principle clean though the bathroom had a terrible smell and the shower curtain had stains of mould. Rooms were very small but that seems to be common in Rome. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very simple (croissants and cheap stuff in a dark back room) - if you are on a budget, all you can eat is nice, otherwise you will be better off with a cafeteria and the bakeries nearby. Location is OK, Colosseum was about 15 minutes of walking away, Termini is not more than 2-3 minutes. In overall, it's a reasonable place to stay if all you need is a place to sleep - price/value was however not very satisfying during Eastern.

1 couple with 2 teens spent 3 nights in 4-bed room, which is spacious and quiet. The air condition and in-room safe box are very nice. It needs to make improvement of the bath-room, which water pressure is not good enough for massage, and no curtain. After the shower, most of bath-room was wet. However, the storage room is very small to keep only 4 medium size luggages. And, there is no internet services.

Our friend was also staying in another room they had the same experience. Her daughter also got a rash through out his body due to untidy bedsheet.Breakfast was just a name.

We were three girls going for a long weekend in Rome and we didn´t expect very much at the hotel, but we were very surprised. We found it in less than 10 minutes since we arrive to Termini station. We knew already that it was located on a 5th floor so it wasn´t a problem for us. After checking, the first thing they did was to give us a map of Rome and the girl in the reception explained us the most important places and how to arrive there. They were really friendly. Breakfast it was not bad. There were biscuits, cheese, butter, jam, toast, juice and a wonderful coffee. Quite enough!! The room was also very clean and with a lot of space for the three of us. The bathroom was a little bit tiny but very clean. We didn´t have any problem with the hot water as other people seemed to have. I would highly recommend it to my friends and I think that my friends will do it too.

This hotel is perfectly located near Rome's Termini train and bus station. You can get anywhere from the Termini, plus there are loads of shops. European hotels are a huge cultural shock vs the US hotels in the price and what you get for that. However the staff is friendly, the breakfast and coffee were good and the hotel is a great location for getting around Rome. I felt for what other hotels were going for this was a good value. As long as you have real expectations as to what is standard for a European hotel you will be very satisfied with your stay at Cortorillo.

very good ratio quality/price. We were 1 adult and 2 children (13 and 17).the space of the room is suffisant as you are in Roma to visit the city and not to stay in your hotel. Even in the hotal cortorillo is at the 5th floor of a building in a busy street, there were almost no noise in our room. We faced two problems : temporary lack of hot water in the shower (have to wait a few minutes), bad quality of TV. Staff very sympathical. very good hotel for families.

Rom is an expensive city to stay in Hotels. Therefore the low priced Cortorillo **Hotel is excellent in regards to quality vs. price. The hotel is simple and easy to arrive from the airport (Fiumicino) by train (leonardo express). The district Termini is good in regards of public transport (main station: Termini), but it is not an historical or charming district of Rom. Of course, Rom has nicer districts than Terini, but not for that price... The employees are friendly, the breakfast (until 10) is very good for a **Hotel. The room is clean, the bathroom is small, but acccetable. If you want to see the city of Rom and need a hotel only to sleep (in a clean room) and to have a good brakefast, than the Cortorillo **Hotel is perfect. If you want more extravagance (located in the historical district, big bathroom) than you should look for an other (much more) expensive hotel.

Viel Spass an alle zukünftigen Rombesucher. Wir werden wiederkommen...

If you are planning on staying at Hotel Cortorillo whilst in Rome my sincere advice is to reconsider your decision as it was categorically the worst hotel I booked on my recent month long holiday in Italy. In fact it was so bad I moved out after just four nights of a planned eight night stay. It was very easy to find another hotel that provided basic accomodation in the same price range without any of the problems that Cortorillo presented. The problem specifically? 1) No telephone in the room. Especially inconvenient if you are an international traveller and friends & family want to call you or if you want to call them. Reception staff would not let me take the cordless phone to my room when people called for me. Messages were not passed on. 2) The mouldy sewerage smell coming from the bathroom made me feel nauseaous. Naturally this made using the the bathroom unpleasant and the door had to be shut at all time. 3) Ventilation. Could not open the room window for natural light or fresh air. The air conditioner was weak and did not cool the room properly. Very stuffy in summer. 4) No hot water. Nothing was done to rectify the problem after four days of icy cold showers. In fact reception staff were indifferent when the problem was reported. 5) The single room was the size of a postage stamp. It was so small that my suitcase and backback took up all available floor space meaning that you could really do is just lie on the bed. Another hotel a few doors away from Cortorillo was able to provide a single room in the same price range that was about three times the size of the room Cortorillo provided. Space is the place. 6) Noise. All the noise from the dining area at breakfast time is especially annoying when you are trying to sleep. 7) Although Cortorillo advertise that they accept credit card they told me that they do not accept credit card when it was time to pay. It was only when they realised that I had no cash on me that

We got 4 beds (2 adults and 2 children in one room) for €125/night incl. breakfast, thats nice price i Rome. The hotel was on the fifth floor and the entrance looked cheap and simple. But staff ware polite and helpful. Simple breakfast. But for €125 for four persons it's ok. Nice with aircondition and fridge in the room. For us it was important to get a budget hotel near the railwaystation and that's what we got. No place for a romantic luxury weekend.

It's ok for the price. The bathroom floor kept a puddle in it...I guess from the toilet leaking. The shower was extremely small and the water didn't stay warm for very long...in fact get up early or you won't have warm water at all. Breakfast consisted of bread and butter and croissants. Employees and others took smoke breaks outside the front door of the hotel, but the smoke seeped in through the crack in our room's front door. We were in a room on the inside of the building, but the outside noises were still disturbing for sleep from the window and the front desk, so bring earplugs. Was convenient if travelling to/from the train station, but not really close to any tourist attractions. However, you can take a bus easily from the train station where ever you want to go.

The hotel was in good position: it was easy to make trips around the city. The stuff was polite and helpfull. The only minuses were that you can easily hear the noises from other rooms and the breakfast...It might be better to take a hotel without breakfast if you are not sure that it is a good one.

This was a FANTASTIC location, except the surroundings were a little scary. This location is very close to the train station with access both airports, and the cross over of the two metro lines. It is also very close to the bus terminal, which you will have to use since the metro doesn't go everywhere. I don't suggest this place to single females travelling alone, the surrounding area is a little scary but we found it to be okay. The most important thing to mention about this hotel was the OUTSTANDING staff, they were extremely nice and gave us an extensive orientation to the city and a free area map... I was very impressed!

We were very well welcomed, and got all the info we needed right away. The breakfast was not great, but it's Italy, and what we expected. The location is perfect for arriving and leaving Rome, due to it's closeness to the centralstation. If you arrive at the station you should not take a taxi (they will rip you off if you look anything like a tourist), it's a 200 meter walk, and you are at Cortorillo! We slept in one morning and left the hotell after 12, they did not clean the room that day. But we got new towels. We had a nice stay at Cortorillo, got what we paid for.

The location was very handy, right near the main railroad station, but because of this location the street noises were loud all night. There were many restaurants, etc nearby. The staff was helpful getting my mother a taxi at 4 a.m. to go to the airport and in general. The rooms did not have a phone in them so I could not call my grown children in another room and so I had to walk across the hotel to speak with them. The rooms were a good size with a refrigerator but the air conditioning didn't work well in our room and we couldn't leave the window open because of the noise. The bathroom was very crowded, although it was evident the fixtures had recently been replaced the sink should have been a smaller model as it ran into you when sitting on the toilet. Towels wer only changed everyother day & there was only 3...no hand towels. The breakfast items were adequate. I did not feel that the price and quality were matched as I paid the same price for MUCH better accomodations on this trip.

Our first trip to Rome. The location and people of Cortorillo were both excellent. I recommend Cortorillo if you are looking for just a place to sleep at Rome. We arrived in the middle of the night and service was excellent. Peacefull place and not too hot(9th of June). The only shortage was that shower wasn't always warm, but that's Rome I think:) Breakfast was typical italian and it was served with a nice smile :)

small hotel, very close to Stazione Termini and only a short walk from the church St. Maria Maggiore. Hotel is clean, quiet and the stuff very nice and friendly. The surrounding is a little bit strange (overall Chinese and Indian shops) and you have the typical youth hostel atmosphere. We stayed in a 4 bed room, which was small and poorly furnished, but had a privat bath.

Welcome was very friendly, very helpful staff. Excellent location (2 minutes to railway station), easy to do Rome on foot. Reception really 24/24, always somebody here to answer questions. Room very proper, everything you need is in it (tv, mini-bar, bathroom - a little bit small, but contains shower and wc). Unbeatable price-quality relationship for an international city, we will surely come back!

Very convenient location - very good- everywhere you can get by walking, if not all public transportation available just behind the corner. Cortorillo hardly can be named a hotel - it's just big appartment converted in to hotel - but that can be a advantage for turist traveler - its nice na quiet, staff very helpfull. Only disatventages: exteremly small bathroom (in triple room - do not know how is in others) and poor breakfast - basically only sweet stuff. Good& inexpensive restaurant just downstairs. Overall - recomended for budget travellers - no fancy - everything what's needed. I would stay there again.

I found the Hotel experience to be pretty good. The room was fairly spacious and cleaned thoroughly. The bathroom however was quite cramped and wather sloshed around everywhere because the drain was clogged. The staff were very helpful and provided as much help as was in their capacity. In terms of breakfast, their was a decent selection of items to start off a busy day. The area itself was not too bad, but the closer you got to the Termini station, the more wary you'd want to be of your immediate surroundings, especially the later it got during the day. All in all, pretty good experience.

This Hotel is a small and well located personal accomodation. We arrived by train and picked this Hotel as a budget alternativ amongst very many Hotels in this area. This Hotel may not be the most luxurious but that is well compensated by the personal and friendly people that takes care of your stay. We found this indianborne guy Yogi at the reception one of the most kind and generous we ever have met. I have forgotten my mobilephone and there were no phone at the room. What to do ?? He pointed out a place further down the street where I could get a phone card and then he did all the dialling and let me use the phone at the reception desk. Springtime and a sudden and unexpected invasion of small ants. What can you do ? Yogi immediately let us have a change of rooms so that they can take care of this without delay. It´s a hotel where you get what you can expect for the amount you pay. The best thing with this hotel is it´s staff and the cosy atmosphere.

For the price of hotels in Rome, and I did a lot of comparing, this is the place to go. The hotel is simple but clean, friendly and helpful. We had a family room for 4 people. It wasn't huge but comfortable for the 4 of us and our suitcases. We weren't in the room much any way. There was a small refridgerator which was nice. The breakfast is simple but enough to get you started for the day and then eat a big lunch. The area felt safe as it was mostly tourists and restaurants, although I wouldn't walk around too late at night any where in Rome. It is a very easy walk to/from the train/bus/metro even with suitcases and kids and walking distance to everything except Vatican city, if you don't mind walking a bit. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Rome!

The room that we were given was basically in the reception area so there was a lot of noise in the mornings. The area that the hotel is in is not particularly nice and is quite a far walk from most of the sight-seeing spots... the metro system is not very useful when traveling to the city center, so using the bus is a must. Also, the bathroom was extremely small and had a really horrible smell from the water and/or the drains. The shower is so small you can barely turn around. However, the staff at the desk was very friendly and helpful.

We were a group of 4 and stayed in a quadruple room (#58). The room was tiny but we only stayed there for the nights. Therefore this wasn´t really a problem. Everything was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful in any way. The room was cleaned every day. The breakfast was typically Italian - a cup of excellent coffee, a glass of orange juice, a croissant and 4 very small slices of rusk. Good enough for the first fill. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring Rome: about 50 m from Termini Station, from where you can use every train, underground, tram or busline. It is on the 5th floor and if you keep the windows closed it is really quiet. I can´t say anything about the air conditioning as we stayed there in March when no air conditioning was needed. We were asked to pay in cash but is was no problem at all to pay by credit card in the end. We would defintely stay there again.

Very nice hotel, good price/quality, very friendly welcome: receptionist told us all about getting around Rome, including public transports, all services were provided without complications. The Hotel is near Termini Train Station, the neighbourhood is somehow run-down, but nevermind. Supermarkets, internet cafés etc. just around the corner, metro and buses depart from Termini in all directions. I guess if you're on a small budget, the hotel is an excellent choice. Unfortenately, my room was next to the reception so sometimes I could hear people talking and the phone ringing during the night, but it didn't really get me out of my sleep. Apart from that the hotel is very quit. If I would go back to Rome I would certainly book a room in this hotel again. Location is excellent: close to railway station Roma Termina (with buses etc.) and lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Staff is friendly. Rooms are very clean. I recommend the hotel to everyone. We were in a triple room. It was very clean and roomy. The staf was very friendly and gave us maps and advice about tourist routs. Breakfast was really good. If I come to Rome, I'll come back. 2 women, stayed for 2 nights...The hotel was very clean, very central (only 3 minutes to Termini), very good value for price for Rome. Staff has been very friendly, showed us map when we arrived, told us where to go. Area surrounding hotel nice, some restaurants etc. Beakfast typical for Italy: not very useful but good for first filling. But the coffee was great! We really enjoyed having stayed there and we will surely come back when we´re back in Rome (which we definately will, because we threw some coins into the "Fontana di Trevi") ;-) Thank you very much for having made our stay a pleasure!

It is not the best place I've been but at least was clean. The Bathroom too small. Shower plate without courtains. Breakfast consist in orange juice (Tang), croisant with nutella and pre-toasted bread with butter and jam. In my opinion, try to find somewhere else but if no other option its acceptable

We made two bookings, so stayed in two different rooms. The only complaint was that the beds were uncomfortably hard. But I guess you get what you pay for! Simple, really clean, friendly, well situated hotel in the hotel district near central station Termini (5 min walk) and is easy to find. No view from the room, just an inner courtyard, but no traffic noise, however the doors are thin and the breakfast area is very close to many of the rooms. No shower curtain... Clean towels every day if they're put on the floor. We stayed for a week and were happy with everything, especially the young staff who was really helpful. A Supermarket is fairly close. Breakfast is on the simple side... We used the fridge for our own food after trying it once. Great safe depositbox in the room. Rome is expensive hotelwise. You get what you pay for at Cortorillo. Go for this if it seems to be the best option, this place is honest!

My family and I stayed in one of the family rooms that had a double, a single and bunk beds. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and sagged terribly so that our feet were pointing upwards! Didn't sleep at all well. The breakfast was the worst I have ever had at a hotel that claims to offer breakfast. Only the coffee was good! Although the people were very friendly, this was the only redeeming aspect of this hotel, although this feeling may be due to the fact that we stayed a few nights before at a 3-star hotel for the same price as this 2-star hotel and it was infinitely better. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel.
