third time at the continentale, good clean quiet cheap hotel, typical italian breakfast, eat as much as you want, good coffee, close to station & metro.

Fourth time in Rome, first time at Continentale, just one night. Great for early morning train to FCO as this is so close to Roma Termini. Extra early breakfast is very convenient. Elevator is confusing at first. Take a room off the street if you want quiet. Lots of restaurants nearby. If you like to walk it is walkable to the Borghese Gardens. Can be hard to find w/o a very detailed map. A very basic, no frills hotel with big, thick, white towels.

This is a great hotel for the price. The location is excellent. Close to the rail station. This is also good due that many of the tours leave from here and is the central crossing point for the subway. Plenty of good restraunts to choose from as well. Internet cafe is two blocks away so lugging around your computer is not necessary. The only complaint was one of the hotel clerks. He was extremely rude and unpleasant...I almost allowed him to ruin part of my trip as I had to deal with him more than the other great clerks! The shower was strange as it was just a curtain in the bath. The shower was an experience and still worth the cost of the hotel. If going to be in Rome for 2+ days...get the Rome City Pass. Worth the value and much easier to get into the Colosseum. There is a visitors office two blocks over if you walk strainght down from train station that can provide much help and assistance.

Breakfast was more than expected. Buffet with croissants etc... In the evening and at night there was a lot of noise coming from the bar in front of the hotel. Overall good price/quality relationship.

Hotel Che consiglio se volete risparmiare ma alloggiare in pieno centro. Unico problema le finestre poco insonorizzate e quindi il vociare che proviene dalla strada.

This hotel really was everything it promised to be. My wife and I stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon and although it was not as romantic as the small hotels we reserved for Florence and Venice, let’s are honest – Rome is more metro than romantic and this hotel reflects the more hurried and practical nature of Rome. We had no problems finding the hotel, as it is four blocks or so from the train station. Please keep this in mind as even the official cabs are more than happy to charge you 25 to 30 euro for the short ride to hotels and hostels. We were a late check in from Florence and although our check in and arrival wasn’t as smooth as silk, our 11 pm check in when easy enough for a small hotel. After dropping our packs we went to a quaint place down the street where a server named Memo took great care of us. The building locks the front door around midnight. This threw us a bit, as it was not mentioned. Additionally, the 2nd floor entry lobby closes at midnight as well. No worries as the 3rd floor are open, but no one mentioned this to us and it became a bit of an adventure. There is no in room fridge – so if that is part of your savings plan, it may be a deciding factor. The lift is old school and worth writing home about. We did have a balcony that looked over the street and the hostel (Yellow – great breakfast). Not sure if that’s common. We would definitely recommend this hotel for younger, open-minded travelers that feel American hotels are plastic and ho-hum.

hotel room was on the small side but very clean and the air con worked which was a bonus as the room was quite stuffy. hotel was easy to find and only 5 mins walk from train station. plenty of bars and restaurants outside and near hotel, but room not noisy at night. good value clean hotel for a stay in rome and i would stay there again.

I think it's a good option to stay in Rome. The real price is quite expensive but venere price was perfect (specially compared to general prices in Rome).

good location, the room was small and simple, but sufficient enough for couple of nights, great and rich breakfast (although for "meat-eaters" could be poor - just cheese, but lots of sweet things) - this hotel is a good choice

As described the hotel offers excellent Price/quality ration. The rooms are absolutely clean, the bathromms are not very spaceous but with a bit of good will its OK. I had a single room with a balcony to the yard of the house, very Italian with loundries hanging on ropes located between different balconies. The room was very quiet although just located 5 walking minutes from Termini station. Thats the ideal starting point for excursions. I recommend to buy a "Roma Pass" (acvailable inside the station) which includes 3 days free use of the Metro plus the first 2 antique sites free. There are small good restaurants around. I relly enjoyed the stay at that hotel, also breakfast was OK, the machine delivers an excellent coffe with milk. What do you need more?

Hotel staff were very kind, courteous, and helpful. They had good and appropriate responses for all of our questions. The room, however, was a bit dingy looking at first glance - particularly the curtains, which were very old and appeared to be dirty (grey) - looking. Our first five minutes in the room were spent deliberating whether or not to cancel our reservations and find better lodgings. However, overall, the room proved to be acceptably clean, even the curtains, which we believe were only very old. The most negative feature was the street noise, mostly from people drinking and shouting (late at night) from the bar across the street.

A nice small hotel that appears a little bit old-fashioned. It was our first stay and we liked it very much. The "Continentale" provides a very suitable accomodation for tourists who want to discover Rome whereas for people on a business trip the facilities for doing some "homeworks" might be not fully sufficient.

First, the Contintale is convenient to Termini station and is located on the "good side" of the area. (I don't recommend the west side of Termini Station). On the way to the hotel there's internet and food cafes and when you get to the Contintale the staff is friendly, attentive, eager to please and I was made to feel like one of the family. I had a small but nice room and enjoyed the rooftop views with all the bird chirps and church bells Roma has to offer. After their good breakfast it's easy to get a bus, the metro or simply go on foot to many sights. A nearby cafe (there are several) serves "American breakfasts" (that I avoided) for pancake and egg addicts, and found the Italian breakfast at Continentale sufficient, tasty and enough to keep me going for most of the day. My travels took me out of Rome and I was to finish up the Italian portion of my trip at another hotel on Via Cavour, but was shocked at the neighborhood and at the building and asked Continentale if they had a room available for my last night. Even with short notice they made sure I got a great room at a terrific price. I've recommended the Continentale to my friends in Paris and certainly it's the first place I'll go to when I return to Roma.

I was delighted with the room and facilities, especially considering the price. Although a single traveller, I wasn't relegated to the hell of a tiny single room but was given a twin bedded room with ensuite. The location of the hotel was good - close to Metro & bus and the centre of town was easily walkable, as were the Borghese gardens. The window of my room faced into an interior courtyard & the only noise was during the day, when nearby building work was carried out. The room was spacious & clean, and although the ensuite was slightly cramped, the shower was excellent & there was hot water available at any time. There are no real public facilities - but who needs them? This is Rome and there are cafes, trattorie and restaurants within yards of the hotel. If you expect luxury facilities then this hotel is not for you, but it is a good 2-star facility and I will be recommending it to friends and hope to stay here again.

One of the main reasons for picking this hotel as well as the cheap price was the fact that they had internet connections in the rooms (as said on their web page), i packed less clothes in my hand luggage, so i could fit my laptop in there, only to find that there was no internet connection in the hotel, i was told to use the internet cafe down the road....not pleased, would have paid more for internet, and will be checking with my next hotel before booking and checking details on the web page are correct next time...

The room which i stayed in was clean, tidy and comfortable, if a little small, however for the price which we paid, it was good value, and is what i expected really. The hotel is really well located, with some nice restaurants nearby, and londis style stores to get snacks from. The shower in our room was the only major negative. Due to the cramped nature of the room, the shower was tiny, and had almost been cut in half, in that it was triangle in shape, and barely fit a medium sized person. Coupled with this, the shower water never seemed hot whatever time you had a shower, or however long you ran the water for. The hotel stay in general was very good. Staff were polite and friendly, and the hotel was always very clean. I would say it is a great value for money hotel for young couples who don't really want to go spending too much on accomodation, whilst still staying somewhere which is quite nice.

The Continentale was convenient to the Rome Termini and was sufficient for a short stay (2 or 3 days). However, the noise from adjacent hostel and traffic was very annoying and made it hard to sleep. I had requested a quiet room (based upon other comments) prior to my trip and the hotel confirmed via email, a "courtyard" room. Nevertheless, when checking in, I was given a street room -- somewhat dissappointing. Additionally, the bathrooms are very, very small. Consequently, I could only recommend this hotel for a short stay and a tight budget.

very easy to find as it had a large sign in the street. Ckeck in was no problem. Had to carry bags up one flight of steps to desk, but there was a (small) lift from there to rooms. Ensuite Bathroom was small. No hook for hand shower was inconvenient. No shower screen or curtain meant water splashed out. No place for clothes in bathroom. Bit it was very clean, beds were comfortably firm and we slept well. Good overnight stop.

The hotel was a lower quality than anticpated. The rooms were very sparse and not very inviting. Also, it seems the hotel prefers not to accept credit cards even though they claim they do.

There really weren't any surprises here. We've stayed in 2 star hotels in Paris before, so we expected pretty much the same kind of accomodations in Rome. The old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true here. We paid 60 Eu per night here, which amounted to $80. For this price we got a TINY room (by US standards but on par with Paris), clean although it needed a paint job. The bathroom was clean and functional, however the shower stall was so incredibly small (and flimsy) that if you had the misfortune of dropping the soap, there was almost no room whatsover to bend over and pick it up! You had to sort of balance yourself and lower your body with your knees to retrieve the soap. Another annoyance: there was no soap dish in the shower hence nowhere to leave the soap after you lather up! Thankfully, there was plenty of hot water and the handheld shower head was a Godsend since there was no room to move about in the shower. The beds were clean and of cheap quality, and there were NO mattress covers under the sheets, although I have to admit that I did sleep well in them anyway. The common areas were well kept although to me they always smelled of cigarette smoke. Continental breakfast buffet was included in the price. Pickin's were kind of slim but we still enjoyed it. The breakfast area is behind the reception desk. There are 2 small rooms, clean and comfortable. They basically had bread rolls, which were hollow and baked to a crunch, and you see them all over Rome. There was plenty of butter and jam and honey, and even some cornflakes and milk. They have a cute coffee machine that dispensed espresso, capuccino, caffe macchiato, hot water or milk, or "weak coffee" for American tastes. The macchiato was pretty good. The hotel is really just 4 blocks or so from the Termini, an easy and safe walk. There are several restaurants across the street and down the block. We didn't eat at them, but it's hard to find bad food in Rome. If you're on a t

We found the Continentale A little disappointing, especially the breakfast which was a symbolic gesture, no one checked if the meagre buffet had been replenished drinks were an insult as far as coffee in Italy goes, overall the B & B should have been B only (for Bed).

Overall the hotel was adequate. It was older and more run down than the photo's and description would indicate and we felt it was a little overpriced for what it offered. It did not offer a handsfree shower and a number of the features, such as air conditioning did not work. I would not recommend it as a place to stay or stay there again, but the staff were pleasant and the hotel was well located.

The hotel was in a good central position for touring and close to all ammenaties. The rooms were clean and in good order. The windows are not double glazed and their is quite a lot of traffic and street noise through to about 02:00 hrs. The room we stayed was on the front and the rooms towards the back of the hotel may be quieter. Breakfast service was good, clean and reasonably well presented, although it is a very limited continental style menu. Their are restraunts close by should you want a full English type breakfast/ Overall I would recommend this hotel as a reasonable cost hotel near to all of Rome's attractions.
